USB Detection Prob

Hello everyone. I am having a USB problem with my Inspiron 00 with Windows XP. It will not Detect my Creative Zen Micro. At first, everything was fine. Problem started when I upgraded from Windows media Player 0 to . When I "Rolled Back" to WMP 0, would no longer Detect My Zen micro. I have tried these Methods so far:
...Downloaded latest XP updates
2...Downloaded latest Creative Drivers thru hardware update wizard
3... Tried to Uninstall the ZEN in Device Manager. (Will not Uninstall)
4... Tried other devices in USB ports. Ports work fine
Any suggestions?

I also have a Creative Zen Nano Plus, and I had all the player recognition problems that everyone else has complained about. I tried all the recommendations (different USB port, going back to old firmware - not easy to do by the way, downloading hot fixes, etc.), but the one thing that finally got everything to work was I uninstalled IomegaWare software for my Zip dri've. I hardly use anyone, so that wasn't a big loss. By the way, I had to do more than just uninstall the software. There were still IomegaWare files left on my hard dri've and entries in the registry that I had to remove before everything started working fine.
If you have IomegaWare, I recommend removing it. If you don't, look for some other removable USB-based device that loaded special software, perhaps a camera? Good Luck!!!

  • Vision M Detection prob

    Hi,
I needed to reinstall my Audigy 2 sound card drivers because I was having a problem with EAX sound which I did and resolved but since then my computer seems not to recognise my zen vision M which is odd because they are unrelated.
When I plug it in my computer makes the beep sound and the MTP device autoplay menu comes up but the computer wont detect it. The player remains in the on state rather than the transfer status that usually comes up when you plug it in. I tried reinstalling the drivers which came with it but that did nothing.
It still charges and turns on when I plug it in but thats it.
It's really quite distressing and I don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated,

I'm having the same problem. I've tried setting my USB permissions, but they where already okay. I've been fighting this problem for over an hour and its getting anoying.

I guess the problem that I have is the "umwdf" service is not there. Windows cannot find it so I can't start it, I'm not sure what that service is, but I'll find out what it is. I f you have the same problem, let me know and I'll post how to fix it once Im done.Message Edited by dustyb on 05-4-2006 2:3 PM
EDIT 2>>The problem I had was that I had installed a beta test copy of Windows Media Player , the install failed and deleted the "umwdf" service. I looked up this umwdf sercvice on google and bassicly it detects any mp3 player device. My guess is these drivers might have disabled this service, or deleted it, somehow.
My two sence: try those steps, if the "umwdf" service was disabled it, re-enamble it like tutorial says. If it cannot be found, try re-installing windows media player 0, then enable it again.

  • M-Audio Fast Track USB detection in GB 2?

    Hi Gang,
My M-Audio Fast Track USB midi device worked just great in GB1. Now I'm trying to use it with GB 2 and having a bear of a time. GB will give me an alert when I plug or unplug it from a USB port, but in the preferences I still show no MIDI devices detected.
I've downloaded the most recent M-Audio driver and still no luck. Any suggestsion? BTW: here are the specs . . .
    GB 2.0 (v28)
    OS X 4.3
M-Audio Fast Track guitar-mic device making a USB connection

I contacted Logic Pro X support and they said that they are working on an update.  They were very helpful, so no worries guys.  They know that there is an issue and they are working on it A.S.A.P.  They told me if I needed to continue production to use time machine and go back before the update and restore Logic Pro X (before 10.0.5).
They understand, so give them a break...    They are working as fast and hard as they can.  I talked with one of the programmers directily.   They are probably not getting any sleep over this.

  • USB Charging prob

i have a 20 GB zen touch, once i upgraded to the plays for sure firmware (2.0.05) when i try to charge via USB the player just turns on at random times and thus stops charging. i dont know where my wall charger is right now so USB power is my only option. does any one know what i can do about this or why this is?

    Open up Task Manager.
    Click on Processes
    Look for the name wdfmgr.exe
Click on that and click on End Process
    Click Yes.
Connect the player and turn it off, it should begin to charge. Your player is basically 'invisible' to programs which would normally detect it.
To get programs to detect it then you can restart your computer OR:
    Start, run, cmd
    Type sc start umwdf
Open up Task Manager and verify that wdfmgr.exe is listed.
Now programs will recognize your player.

  • 3GS no charge, no USB detect

    Hey,
Last night after work, I had my phone sitting on my desk, and it told me "Charging is not suppored with this accessroy". I thought it was odd, because it wasnt plugged into anything... >_<
Now my phone wont charge either via USB (tried various ports on various PCs), or by the wall charger. I have tried my friends iPhone 4 and it charges in all situations where mine does not.
I have done a hard reset, and I have tried the boot without sim trick. Neither had any effect. Charging (wall charger) while it is off does not do anything either.
Because it wont get detected by the PC, a restore (or upgrade) is out of the question.
When I plug it into my car via the ipod cable in my headunit, I am able to play music. (no charge here, but it never did charge here).
All I can put it down to is some of the pins are dirty. I work at McDonalds, so its a little bit greasy at work. Im thinkng maybe the sterio I dock my iPhone onto for music had greasy pins, and that has transfered to mine.
Any suggestions on how I can get it to charge, or how to correctly clean the pins?

Apple Store was not avaialble to book me in for genius appointment for about a week or two. Took it back to phone provider and getting them to repair it under warrenty.

a pendrive is something like an USB-stick, I assume? So you should try
hotplug -> pacman -S hotplug . Make sure you have "unofficial"
uncommented in /etc/pacman.conf. hotplug is a deamon which should be
started in the /etc/rc.conf. Alternatively, you can activate it for testing,
(after install - no reboot or other neccessary), by "/etc/rc.d/hotplug start".
Then a new device should appear in  /dev/discs/discX/part1. This can be
mounted. Most sticks are pre-formatted using fat32 so mount them with
"-t vfat" option or reformat it.
    HTH,
    bye neri

  • Zen Micro detection prob

Ok, I've just bought a zen micro (suprise).
Anyway, I installed the software on my pc and reset it. My micro was fully charged and had not been attached to the pc previous to this.
I then attached the micro via usb and windows auto detected it but could not find the right driver.
Also, Zen micro explorer and the other programs will not detect it.
So, I updated all the software on my system with the latest from the website, except the firmware as it will not detect the player to do so.
Any help on this matter would be much appreciated. I would like to be able to listen to my music on my Zen Micro! :-)
    Cheers,
    Mike

You need to check in the information menu on the Micro and see what firmware version is on that player.
If it is .xx.xx then you need the 4.xx versions of Media Explorer software for the NON Plays For Sure firmware.
If the Micro has a 2.xx.xx firmware on it then you either need to get the .xx version of Media Explorer that is for the 2.xx PLays For Sure firmware OR downgrade the firmware to the .xx.xx version, which does not seem to be an option at this time.
Also look in device manager in windows to see if there is a USB device with a ! on it that refrences Creative or Zen etc.. If there is then make sure the Micro is not plpugged in. Remove the item from the list and then unistall and reinstall the proper version of software based on what firmware the player currently has.
Also if you are using a USB hub or extension cable of any kind try removiing it from the mix and connect the Micro directly to a USB port on the PC with the supplied cable.
    Good luck.

  • USB detection

    Hi All
I have to test a unit which will be connected to the USB port of the PC. Also I have to use a USB camera. I just wants to know how to detect the UUT & camera Since the drive name may differ from PC to PC.
For example - One system is having one drive (C:\) so the camera & Unit drive may be D or E. I just wants to read the drive name from which unit and camera is connected.
If anybody is having some example then please post it.
    Thanks in advance

  • USB Headset Prob

Hello, I installed a SB X-Fi XtremeGamer a few hours ago and I encountered some problems. The card and the software included work normally when normal speakers are connected, however, my USB headset (Speed-Link Medusa 5. USB) does not seem to cooperate with the new card. It seems that the headset uses its own "drivers" and actually bypases the sound card, if that is even possible. I tried changing the sound input and output settings from a "USB Audio" entry to the "SB X-Fi" one, but then it all went mute.
Does anyone have a solution please? Is there a chance I can get my headset to work with the new card?
    Thanks in advance?

    You answered your own question,
It seems that the headset uses its own "drivers" and actually bypases the sound card,?
You want to use that headset with your sound card you're going to need to find an adapter for the USB connection so you can plug it into the card, or get a headset that isn't USB.

  • Kernal panic (ethernet), USB mouse prob, kb backlight failed

    Hey all:
Sometimes when I remove the ethernet cable from my PB I get a kernal panic message. It has also happened when I move my PB when the ethernet cable is connected, as well as some other times that are just plain random.
Additionally, my wireless mouse that uses a USB port for the receiver/transmitter (not bluetooth) does not register after sleep, only after restart.
Finally, my keyboard backlight feature no longer works, even in a dark room or with the sensors near the speakers covered. I also tried the backlight using a new account and it still did not work.
I've copied the panic.log text from the last three kernal panics below.

Which Symantec/Norton do you have? I've read reports here of the enterprise version of Symantec not causing problems for Macs.
You could temporarily unload the Symantec kext. But not sure if temporary unoading persists through a reboot.
Copy/Paste into Terminal. Hit return, then give your password, which you will not see on the sreeen as you type. Hit return.
    sudo kextunload Symantec.kext.SAVAPComm/
    To reverse
    sudo kextload Symantec.kext.SAVAPComm/
You can do this with all of the kexts you want to test by substituting the names you find in /System/Library/Extensions. Be sure to observe case and spaces EXACTLY, if you do this.

  • Sounblaster live usb driver prob

Hello everyone. Have encountered a problem with the 'standalone' driver update for my usb soundblaster li've. I installed the driver - without anything else, just as is - but there isn't an option to activate 5. sound anywhere - done the usual things - control panel etc. Worse I couldn't and still can't find an uninstall option. Nowhere. I've looked, control panel, everywhere. So ... I foolishly installed the stuff off the cd - which worked, I got 5. sound, but then I was getting some horrible noises with cubase so I decided to try uninstalling everything but just can't. I removed eveything I could, but couldn't find how to get rid of the standalone update. I just want to install the drivers cleanly - and thereby hopefully get cubase to work without the noise that I get with the creative drivers - it works with windows drivers, but I get really bad latency problems.
I wonder if anyone could advise me on how to fully uninstall all the creative stuff, and then if I ought to install stuff off the CD first and THEN the update?
Oh I'm running XP Pro, via chipset, nvidia graphics.
    Thanks for any help offered.

?The speakers no longer work at all with the headset unplugged. The Li've card is still set as the default (I've tried with the 'use only default devices' checked and unchecked, neither work). I've verified the checkboxes and sliders in the Volume control settings. All the basics (I think) have been covered, and there is still no sound coming from the speakers.

  • Sleek photo / usb connection prob

I've had my sleek photo for about 5 months now and have had no problems until yesterday connecting it to one of my computers. When I connect it to any usb port, instead of hearing the ding dong sound I get three quick dings and the computer fails to recognized that is it connected. It will give me a ding dong when I disconnect the zsp. I know the USB ports work fine on this particular computer because I have used them since with other devices.
Now, I can connect the zsp to other computers without a problem. So, what do I need to do with this other computer. I have uninstalled the software, restarted the computer and it still gives me the 3 dings, although I may not have completely uninstalled the software since there were residual evidences of it being there pre-restart. Is it my computer, or my zen or did they just fall out of love with each other? ?help! please. sorry if this is a similar post, but I couldn't find a situation just like this in my searching. racqy

the Knowledge Base was helpful in that it told me that the computer does recognize that my zsp is connected to the computer, but there is a yellow ! along with it in the Device Manager. DM tells me that there is no driver. When I tell it to update the driver?I get "Cannot Install this Hardware: A service installation section in this INF is invalid."?Creative doesn't have a driver download. Now what???
