When i connect my ipod touch 2G on 4.1 it said that my computer cant't recognized the device and won't let me charge it on the computer and on the wall input. I don't know what is wrong.

Nevermind, I figure out that the wire was mess up.

Hello,
Every time I connect my Iphone 4S to my PC I get the error "USB Device Not Recognized". I did not have this problem before. I tried uninstalling Itunes and all its components and reninstalling it, restaring my computer, restarting Iphone and I even reset all the setting on my Iphone. I connected my wife's Iphone 4 using the same cable and PC and connected and started syncing with Itunes right away. If anyone has any pointers on how to fix this problem, any help will be much appreciated.

try reseting the phone
RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).

I haven't had a need to connect it in quite some time, so I don't know what's going on, but my adapter is MIA at the moment, so I figured I'd just connect it to the computer to charge it, but when I plug it in, my computer won't recognize it anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this?

Most USB ports n computers do not provide enough power to charge an iPad. You need to use the wall charger and plug that into a known good wall outlet.
The iPad will not show up on your computer like a hard drive. Start iTunes on your computer and plug your iPad into the USB port on the computer. You should see the iPad recognized in iTunes.

I am having the same issue. iTunes 10.2.1 (1) will not recognize my iPad (4.3.1) and when I plug it into the wall charger (10W) it oddly enough says Not Charging although it really is being charged. How much slower or faster than normal is hard to say.
I know there is no issue with my computer as my other iPad works as does my iPhone. I even tried to connect my "broken" iPad to my macbook pro iTunes and still no joy.
I am 3 days away from my 1 year purchase anniversary and need to travel on Sunday.
This ***** bad. But I have no choice probably to take it in to get serviced and may be forced to fork out more $$ for an extended warranty plan. Thanks Apple....

Is the iPod Touch specifically stated as being compatible? Have you tried to perfrom a hard reset of the iPod with it still connected? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

T400 "USB device not recognizable" pop up

Hello,
on my T400 a pop up appears every 5 seconds with the following message "USB device not recognizable ... etc".
But I don't have any device connected to my Laptop.
What could the problem be?

please check all usb connectors in your T400 sometimes the inner small metal latches are twisted and cause some annoying issues.

"USB Device not Recognized" when shuffle is plugged into computer

Everytime I plug my shuffle into my Dell laptop it comes up with the message "USB device not recognized". The shuffle doesn't show up in my computer or itunes. I've done some of things that it says to try, but I'd really like to get this fixed and get my shuffle working. Typically when I plug it in, it blinks once, yellow/orange, and then no more, and the notice comes up on the computer screen. If this makes a difference, the shuffle worked fine until last summer when my hard drive crashed. Upon installing a new hard drive, the shuffle began to not work/sync with my computer as it had been before. Any suggestions on how to get my shuffle working again? Much appreciated!

Also you might try forcing the iPod into disk mode first, then connecting it to your computer and see if that makes it show up in iTunes...

When I plug my ipod into my laptop I get the message: "USB device not recognized." It says the device has malfunctioned!!! If I click on this error message it says my ipod is an unknown device and no drivers are installed for it???
It was working fine until a few days ago. If i reset it I can charge it up but that's all, it still does not appear in itunes or on my computer.
I've tried eveything on the help website but nothing works! Can anyone help?!

ok my question is do you have a mac or windows based laptop
here is why and what happened to my ipod mini
my ipod mini was connected to my macintosh charging while i was using my imac and it came up with a system update 10.4.3 i installed it and finished installing it and afterwards my apple wouldn't recongnize my ipod mini or even display it one the screen i found out by myself that when the apple update got to the end of the update it installed new hard drive drivers but also installed the drivers on the ipod mini which locked out the mini's internal hard drive and my mini then stop responding it would play music and charge but wouldn't connect to the computer
so what i did to fix it was this
i went into utilites in mac os x tiger or any version of os x has this and selected disk utility you will notice that the ipod will appesr in disk utility but not on the desktop this is due to a recent system update driver that isn't compatible with the internal drive on the ipod mini so in disk utility just select format the drive in a mac os partition standard works the best it will then format the ipod and the ipod will apear in the desktop again but not as a ipod let me explain when you format the ipod using the disk utility it formats and even erases the firmware of of the hard drive on the mini so when you are done formating the ipod run the ipod updater to reinstall the ipod's operating system and presto your ipod will now work again
warning: i don't know how to fix this on a ipod in windows so if this is a windows based laptop you need to find someone witha macintosh to do this with sorry

Computer says usb/device not recognized when plugged in??

When I plug in my sons ipod nano 7th generation, just recently says usb/device not recognized and doesn't light up when plugged into the wall either??? Any suggestions??

This came from another thread, but worked for me. Problem is with newest iTunes 4.62. Unistall iTunes, as well as its helper programs (Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Divice Support, and Apple Software Update). Reboot, and reinstall iTunes. It will reinstall all the other ones and you should be able to connect your nano. Good luck.

I am running XP SP 2, on a Dell Vostro 1000, Palm OS Garnet v5.4.7 on a Tungsten E2. I have worked though issues relating to synchronization, Outlook 2007, Docs to Go, etc., in the past. Thank you board members!
Once I worked thru all the initial problems, my Tungsten E2 was sync' ing beautifully to my laptop until a few days ago. There have been no changes (I know of) to the configuration, but now I receive "The connection between your device and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again." On the laptop I sometimes get "USB device not recognized." I am unclear why I get the PC message sometimes and not others.
I have tried the following: (not necc exactly in this order)
Double checked Hot Sync Mgr settings: Local USB (ver. 6.0.1)
Reset the Palm (multiple times)
Rebooted the laptop (multiple times before and after the Palm resets)

Followed Device Mgr Troubleshooter - went all the way thru with no solution
Tried all four USB ports - the PC's bell-like tone does not sound when I disconnect or reconnect the Plam's cradle like it does when I conn/disconnect other USB devices -I think that is a clue. ...?
Cleaned the Palm's contacts (and cradle's contacts with a old, dry toothbrush)
Read all the posts under "USB device not recognized."
OK, I'm at a loss, can anyone help me? Many thanks in advance!

Using a cradle with the Tungsten E2? Tried bypassing the cradle and just use the hotsync cable? Tried a different computer yet? Somehow, the PC is having problems getting a signal from the device. I assume you have the laptop charger plugged into the laptop during this? Not going through a docking station or port-replicator.
One crazy thing you can try is unplug the charger from your laptop, remove the battery from the laptop and leave it out for like 10mins and put it back in and reboot the laptop. This should not cause side effects but still contact your OEM to make sure that nothing else is needed after leaving the battery out for extended period of time. Keep me posted.

USB Device Not Recognised - unable to connect

I am having a serious issue! My ipod was working perfectly, then for no reason i got the error message 'USB device not recognised' from my PC when plugged into a 2.0 port. I am unable to mount to restore to factory settings - definitely isn't a USB connection issue - I have tested the same port with my printer and it works perfectly! When I troubleshoot, The PC tells me that it is an unknown device, and that 'No drivers are installed for this device.' Where can I get Drivers for an IPOD 4th Gen?

This is a shocker! I've now tried the following:
- re-setting iPOD to factory settings
- re-formatting iPOD
- removing then re-installing Itunes, both old and new
version
- resetting the COM thingy
- re-installing iPODservice.exe
- deleting all systems drivers and re-installing
- re-setting iPOD whilst connected
- using old Ipod updater 2004-08-06 and the later 2004-11- 15 version
All I have now is an empty iPOD and a music library with 30gig of tunes within it, with no way of marrying the 2 together. It's been 2 months now and I've really got the hump!
I think that there is a serious defect with either the iPOD or the software - we are not isolated cases! (have you seen how many discussion strings there are on the same subject?)
If you manage to find any other possible fixes, please let us know! In the mean time, I'm off to see about getting one of those new Sony thingys!

USB device not recognized when in Win XP

When I plug my Ipod touch into the computer via the cable, I get an error message
"USB device not recognized". I've tried to delete and reload Itunes, I've reset the Ipod and reset all the original settings. I've tried several of the USB ports and also tried 3 different cords for the Ipod. Can anyone help me??? I can get it to plug into my daughter's computer at her house, but not on my computer... this is getting frustrating!

Thanks for welcoming me... wish I didn't have to come on here though... I wish the IPod(1st gen) was working well. I just downloaded the new Itunes 8.2.1 on my computer when this started. My son-in-law's IPod (2nd gen)plugs in and is acknowledged just fine, for mine, even when I bit the bullet and decided to erase the whole thing and start anew, is still telling me "USB device not recognized". Very frustrating. So it's not only not connecting to my computer, it's now erased. Before I could at least play games, can't do anything now... (sigh)

Zen Micro "USB Device Not Recogniz

Hi, I can tell from the forum that this has been discussed quite extensi'vely already but I thought I would check that I have done everything possible.
Basically, I have today received my Zen Micro, installed the software and then connected it to my computer and all I get is USB device not recognized.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the software, tried a different USB cable and socket, formatted and cleaned up the player and still nothing.
There is no other computer for me to test it on. Any suggestions?

Either a new USB cable or more likely a new PCI USB2 card. Chances are the USB card is faulty, but I can't emphasise enough how testing on another PC will clear up where the fault lies. All you need is a PC to test, whether it be a friends, other family member etc.
Also don't forget to search on "communication problem" in the FAQ post, and follow the link that takes you to for lots of troubleshooting advice.

Have had my Tungsten E2 for 3 years...I always use cable to Hotsync, and the last few weeks it has worked only intermittently. Either the device is not recognized, or it starts the HotSync and then freezes. I have checked out various online suggestions but then discovered that the only thing that seems to work is to exit Hot Sync Manager, then restart it again each time - then Hot Sync seems to work fine - a temporary solution! I don't have Bluetooth capabilities. I can't figure out if I need a new cable, a new OS (have Vista), a new laptop (only 2 years old) or a new Palm! Any suggestions? Thanks!

The next time that happens, USB device not recognized error, unplug the cable from the PDA and pc, then soft reset the device, then plug the PDA back in and see wat happens.
