USB Drive stopped working - Need help ASAP Please!

I'm a student, and all of my current work for exams is stored on my USB flash drive.
It was working fine, and this morning I pulled it out of my Intel iMac (without ejecting, ****) and it hasn't worked since.
When I plug it into any computer, I get a solid red light, whereas I usually get a blinking red light signaling that something is happening.
Can anyone help me?

I understand the complete and utter "OMG!" feeling you may have. Just calm down, and don't worry. There are somethings we can try.
First with the drive connected, go to Disk Utility.
(I'm going to assume you are not a basic user, but if you need more instructions, just say so!)
Find the drive, and see what OS X says about it. If possible, try repairing it with First Aid.
Should this not work, as long as your drive is detectable and reachable, there may be a chance to recover the data. I suggest using a program like DataRescue II. There are a few out there. The best ones do cost. I do not know of any free ones, but hopefully someone else will come and help out.

  • Why have my USB drives stopped working in my MacBook but work in all PCs?

I currently have a MacBook (older version), and recently my USBs stopped working properly.  As soon as I put it into the Mac I get a message saying that it wasn't ejected properly, and it won't open the files.   However I haven't had this problem on any PCs I use.
I really need to do work at home as I am a teacher and am also currently writing a Thesis - and not being able to work at home is a disaster!!
I have a very basic understanding of computers, so would really appreciate anyone's advice and help in how to get this issue fixed.
    Thank you.
    Elly

I'd be worried about this.  I'd expect the mac to open the files on the flash drive with a warning message.
I'd recommend that you backup all your data on these flash drives on your pc.
-- Flash drives are very cheap these day, get more.
-- are you ejecting the flash drives properly from Windows?  You should.
-- There is an option to turn off displaying flash drives on your desktop.  Finder > Preferences..
for me I check Hard disks
-- You could use disk utility to repair the filesystem.

  • Add to Cart button has stopped working - pls help asap...

    Hi,
My Add to Cart - {tag_buynow} - has stopped working sometime today and doesn't add to cart or take me there.
I've tried it on all browsers and on different machines/mobile and it doesn't work (and tried changing it to {tag_addtocart} but makes no difference).
Please tell me what's going on ASAP as this is a live site and my livelihood!!!

    Kind regards,
    Frank.

    Thanks Liam,
Once again you are the only person on here who gives any kind of meaningful reply (although I don't understand it!!).
Pls can you expand on what you wrote and suggest a solution (btw I chose Bc because I am not very experienced at webdev and know next to nothing about js).
I received this message from the support ticket I submitted:
"I have escalated this ticket to our Engineering team for a more detailed investigation.
We will keep you informed on any new developments on this issue. In the meanwhile, please try adding {module_shoppingcartsummary} to the Shopping template/layout that should fix the problem."
I have added {module_shoppingcartsummary} to the page content layout (and hidden it with js because I don't need it) and it seems to be working again.
I really don't like the flakeyness of Bc - this issue might have lost new customers (or made existing ones think we are muppets).
    Kind regards,
    Frank.

  • How do i activate my pohe from home? all of the instructions i have read online are not working. need help ASAP!

My iPhone 5 was stolen, and i just recieved my new iPhone 5c in the mail. i turned it on and went through the set up instructions assuming it would lead me to the acivation process but it did not.  I now have a phone that works with everything but calls and texts.  I looked up online and it said you can activate it through itunes, i downloaded itunes onto my computer and plugged my phone in to it using the USB port and still nothing. will someone please help!

Take the phone into your nearest Verizon store. They will activate it for you. If you really cant do that, call Verizon Customer Service back, explain you've been unable to activate it and have them walk you through it.

  • Wi-Fi stopped working, need help???

My wifi just stopped working on my 1st gen ipod touch. My wifi network is fine, my mackbook get wifi. What the problem seems to be is when I go to setting and touch wi-fi it is not active, I can't change the setting, it is a dull grey and says no wi-fi.
Do I need to reset my ipod touch to factory reset, and then reinstall all of my apps, and I also have the latest operating system I paid for the upgrade.
Is there an easier way to do this???
    Anyone else experience this????

Okay, I figured it out, 28 reads and only one answer. Well I had to come up with the answer that I thought I might need to do. You have to upgrade to 2.2 software, I already had the 2.0 software so the upgrade is free. There you have it.

  • [Kernel 2.6.32.6] USB drive stops working

    Hi.
I recently started having a problem with USB drive.
Everyday it would block/hang so nothing could access it anymore.
And I couldn't kill programs accessing it.
I thought it was my hard drive dying, but since I downgraded to 2.6.31.1
this problem has not returned. Here is a relevant part of the kernel.log:

  • Releasing pin need help asap please

Hello everyone I currently have a Blacberry 8520 Curve on contract with Virgin. I am going abroad to spain for 5 months next sunday How do I go by releasing my blackberry pin so i can use the phones blackberry messenger with a spanish simcard abroad ? My phone is unlocked to all networks but from what I understand you cant use blackberry messenger on the same phone under 2 different simcards with a bbm data plan?
So a bit of advice please on how I release it.
    thanks
    josh

Call Virgin and cancel your account, that will release the PIN for use on another SIM card.
Or, if you are not wanting to cancel the Virgin mobile account, just simply have the BIS planned removed from your account. Ask Virgin to make sure the PIN is available now for registration elsewhere.

Good day and welcome to the community.
If you didn't make recovery media prior to the HDD failure, which sounds catastrophic, you'll need to contact Support (info below) to discuss obtaining the proper media. There may be an associated cost.
    Hope this helps.

  • Photoshop stopped working, need help!!!!

Hi, was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I’ve been trying to fix a while now. At my wits end!
I'm unable to use the any of the tools and features in Photoshop CS5 and also unable save and most of the time open anything.
Basically, it will open up and run as normal, doesn't crash or anything like that but if I try and do anything in it (ie. transform, paint, image adjust ect) nothing happens. The paint tool for example will maybe draw a line for a few seconds but will instantly disappear once I stop drawing whilst all the other tools will do nothing at all. I'm also unable to do things like copy images to or from Photoshop to other programs like illustrator or inDesign (which are still running perfectly)
I have absolutely no idea why it has started doing this and haven't changed anything on my computer nor altered the drivers or photoshop preferences. Been using photoshop for years and never encountered anything like this. I have reinstalled three times with no change and also tried installing an old version of CS3 but does the exact same thing in that too.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? Would really appreciate any suggestions got quite a few deadlines coming up so really need to get this sorted.
    Cheers

    Welcome to the forum.
I second Curt's suggestion to trash Prefs. They can become corrupted, and uninstalling/reinstalling will NOT change the Prefs file.
You say that you have not made any changes, but how do you have your OS set, regarding updating?
Did not catch your OS, but with Windows, the default is to automatically update, and this is usually transparent, in that the user never even knows that an OS was performed. The problem with this is that a simple OS update, or hot-fix, can render, say a video driver obsolete. If one is using OpenGL, an obsolete video driver can create issues. I would check your make/model of video card/chip, and then the installed driver. Go to the mfgr's Web site, plug in your model of card, and your OS, and check to see if you have the very latest video driver. If not, download that, follow the instructions carefully (usually just install and reboot, but check), and install. I think that Mac OS updates include video driver updates, but am a PC-only guy, so do not know for certain.
Good luck, and hope that trashing the Prefs gets it back for you,
    Hunt

My friend jailbroke my iPad a couple of months ago and then recently apple came out with the new update 4.3.3 and then i wanted to update my ipad so i did so. It then stoped and i let it contuine for a couple of hours and when i came back to check up on it it was still the same. So i unplugged it from my Mac and then restared itunes, relized that itunes needed to be updated and i updated it. Proceeded to update my ipad and then it did the same thing. I then put it into DFU mode and then updated it, still did not work. I have done so about 5 times and has done the same thing over and over again. I am worried that i wont ever get my Ipad (1) to properly function again. Can someone please help me or give me adivice on how to get my ipad working again.
    will greatly apprecite any efforts

If you can't successfully restore with the iPad in recovery mode, it's quite possible that the jailbreak has caused permanent damage. Sorry, but we cannot help with jailbroken iPads here in Apple's forums.

  • BBM icon missing after update. need help asap please

Hi I'm using a bb bold 9780 and my bbm is 5.0.1.45 and when I tried updating it, it hangs whenever it finishes installing. And when I tired a battery pull, my bbm icon goes missing. Any idea how to solve this issue? Could really need some help here cos its quite impt. Thank you in advance
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When you get a chance, do a battery pull.  When the red light goes away on the front of the phone, hold down the back button the entire time while the phone is booting up.  When the boot is complete, the phone will enter safe mode.
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB17877
Try to delete it from there and do another battery pull / reinstall.
