USB for Audio Out

I am looking at buying a Bose Companion speaker system. The Bose Companion Series 5 plays music through a USB connection. If I connect the speakers via USB on the Airport Express will it output audio through this connection via iTunes?
Thanks,
Mike

Thank you for the extremely fast and quick response...

Blue Tooth paired but SONY DR-BT50 HEADPHONES not connecting for audio out of iMac
Running Lion on intel based 27" Jan 2012 machine
The Sony Bluetooth Headphones work well with iPhone 3Gs for music and phone but I cannot get audio out of the Desk Top Machine eventhough the headphones are paired - they do not seem to connect. I have selected them as audio out phones in Blue Tooth options but nada. Any thoughts?
    Thanks, iMac1ejf

Do they show up in your SOUND preferences?...

  • What kind of audio interface do I need for audio out from MainStage 3?

I have a Yamaha MO8 that I use for playing in the worship band at my church. In the past, I've just directly routed audio from the MO8 through a direct box and into the sound system.
I'm looking to switch my setup and use the Yamaha MO8 as a midi controller in MainStage 3. I have this part working — the problem is getting the audio from my MacBook Pro.
The audio output sounds fine through the MacBook Pro speakers or through headphones plugged into the audio out / headphone jack; however, if I plug the direct box into the MacBook Pro's audio out / headphone jack, the signal the sound system gets is very pretty weak and very distorted.
I'm assuming I need an audio interface between my MacBook Pro and the direct box / sound system. Since it's a 2010 MacBook Pro, I'm assuming my only output option is USB (unless the digital audio out can be used). If that's correct, would something like the Scarlet 2i2 work for me?
    Thanks…

Yes, you'll need some sort of audio interface to get a good signal back to your mixer.
The Scarlet 2i2 would work for you but you may find a few limitations.  I use a MOTU Audio Express and it has the advantage of being a mixer as well, so I can mix in a backup signal from the onboard audio outs of my controller (Kurzweil PC3x) in case MainStage goes down (it happens on rare occasion).  Firewire is my preference so the MOTU checks that box.  I also like that I can connect my MIDI cables to the MOTU and have one cable going into the computer.
If you need this sort of compact redundancy, I would shoot a little higher than the Scarlet.  If you don't feel the need for a backup line and USB works for you, then the Scarlet unit would be an excellent value.

  • New-BE help needed for audio out

No matter what I try I can't seem to get audio to come out of FCE... The VU meter in the program shows there is signal present but no matter what I try (changing audio out in system prefs..) I hear no audio. I have a Digidesign 002 rack (I'm moving into video in a ProTools based audio studio) which is firewire. I use an ADVC-100 to import my video from various sources also firewire. If I switch to line out (in sys prefs) still nothing. I've had the program for 5 weeks and I cant use it.
BTW I exported a lesson (Apple Pro Training Tutorial) and it played back in Quick time and the audio was fine.
I'm at a loss.... and I'm starting to feel stoopid.....
    Dave
FCE is the ONLY program that doesn't output the audio.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Try this. From within FCE, select View>Video Out>Canvas Playback.

  • Lightning connector for audio out

I have a DJ app on my IPAD Air which uses a split cue audio out lead from the headphone jack in order to cue music separately from the main mix. This works fine but I would prefer to use Airplay wireless to the speakers. If I then connect the headphone jack it disables airplay.
My question is, can the Lightning connector be used to transfer audio in which case I can use it for the headphone connection via suitable leads.
I don't mind using an 8 pin to 30 pin adapter if that's the way to go but not all these work for audio.
Any suggestions on lead combinations would be appreciated. Thanks

  • Multiple Audio out: usb dac audio out and hdmi out

Good afternoon everyone, I have a 2010 mac mini with the following audio set up.
    - A usb dac (xtreamer) connected to my stereo amplifier
    - an Hdmi cable to the tv to get  video and audio diretcly to the tv
Is it possibile by any chance to get simoultanesly audio output both from usb audio out and hdmi audio out???
In "midi preference panel" I tried to create a "virtual" sound card but i am not able to get sound simoultanesly. or via hdmi, or via usb.
this is quite disappointing because if I want to listen to music with the amplifier and then watching a simple video with mac mini and tv only I need to go back to the audio preferences and set up manually each time.
Is it possible to solve this issue???
Thanks a lot and gretings from Italy

I can select ATV audio out (Airplay setting) to either my Airport Express or my computer so it must be transmitting via airplay. Using a combination of Airserver, Airfoil and Airfoil Speakers I managed to get the ATV audio content on both my PC and my Airport Express at the same time but it cuts out the ATV audio.
My aim is to have a movie on ATV transmitting the Audio to ATV AND my stereo (which is hooked up to the Airport Express).
    Cheers

  • Firewire or USB for Audio interface on powerbook

    For a Powerbook G4 667 mhz, 768 MB RAM , 2 USB, 1 FW
What's better, FW audio interface and USB external hard drive, or the opposite? Thanks

I find that I have no problems on my PB using my hard drive and my interface daisychained. Obviously it depends on how fast the FW port is too - I imagine on yours it will be FW400. FWIW, I can get 8 streams of audio on to my LaCie with no probs at all, and can run a good number of tracks off it. My processor gives in before my drive...
But it's right, the best combo to go for it 2 FW ports, and USB ain't great for audio streaming with multiple channels.

  • Does ATV2 need a particular cable for Audio out?

    Hi
I'm attempting to run ATV2 to a Sony STR-DH520 Receiver and my TV
TV is fine on the HDMI but audio out via an optical cable is failing
Do I need a particular type of cable? - I picked up a cambridge audio D321 in the store where I got the reciever
    Thanks

Also check your settings for your receiver to ensure it is set for the audio from it's optical audio input. Some receivers use both an analog and digital for one input or allow you to set the digital in to any one of it's input settings.

  • What Kind Of Connectors for Audio Out?

My Mac Pro is a 2-2.8g Quad, and it's kind of in a position right now where I can't clearly see, so can anyone tell me what kind of connector I need to grab the audio out (NOT DIGITAL) and connect it to another device?
    Thanks
    Tom

    These are Stereo-capable.
Stereo jacks have a tip and two rings.
Mono jacks the same size and shape have one tip contact and only one ring contact.

  • Use LINE OUT or use USB for LINE OUT?

Using my MacBook to run iTunes at my wedding in a few weeks.
Should I just stick with the in built LINE OUT?
Or would using a USB device to give me a LINE OUT be better?
Does anyone know the specs on the line out in terms of "v"
Just worried about using another device could introduce more thing to be set as I will not be running the MacBook someone else will be so maybe I should keep it simple.
I just need to to be working without any problems for 5-6 hours without anyone touching it.
Only thing I have noticed is the output on the line out is a little on the low side, I need to crank the amp a little more than I do with other sources like a dedicated CD player.
I do have access to a Griffen iMic (model 1) but do I need it?
    R

    Thank you for the input.
But phase cancellation is not only occur from having 4 speakers facing each other, a certain degree or audio source placement might trigger that or un-wise effect applied that instead create "echo" or delay fx it create phase cancellation if played with the original audio source. And phase cancellation will not only result of cutting it, it also might resulted of boosting it if it was the same frequency waveform.
But it is indeed could happen so I hope the dj for his wedding ceremony wise enough with the eq and efx. And beside the audio for wedding ceremony is not as crucial as piano resital so if a bit of phase cancellation occur might not noticeable.
But thanks again for the input.
    Peace out.

  • Airport express has a port for audio out that says optical?

So I just got my Airport Express and want to use it to Airplay to my stereo.  It has a minijack for that, but in the setup guide it talks about optical output.  I don't understand minijack and optical in the same hole.  I don't want to break it jamming the wrong thing in there.  Can anybody enlighten me?

Either an analog 3.5mm stereo mini plug will fit in the audio port.....or....a mini Toslink optical digital plug will fit very nicely in the audio port.
If you plug a 3.5mm stereo mini plug in the audio port, an analog audio signal will be delivered to your amp/speakers.
If you plug a mini Toslink plug in, an optical digital signal will be sent to your amp/speakers
The audio port on the AirPort Express is smart. It knows what kind of plug is connected, so it knows whether to send an analog signal or a digital signal.

  • What's the best solution for audio out of sound files from a MacBook Air to both an amplifier and to a subwoofer amplifier? I'm using the MBA to play sound files for worship services at our church.

I have a MacBook Air (13", 1.7GHz, 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD) that I'll be using to play sound files (primarily organ and piano) for worship services at my church. We'll be using a QSC RMX2450 650 Watts/Channel amplifier with Community CPL-27 speakers and also a JBL SUB 250P powered subwoofer with its own amplifier. What's the best option for getting sound out from the Mac to both of these amplifiers?

if you work with own recorded sounds you might wanna have a music program where you want to work with samples, steinberg has got very good ones (so they say)... but their really really ( ²) expensive(that's why almost no one haves them), magix haves good ones too bu their more for 'unprofessional' use, ableton haves really good ones too and they're not to difficult to use (if you know a bit of those programs you learn very quickly) and if you don't get them, there is a sort of manual built in it which explains and lets you do things to start (basics)
i hope this helped, btw stereo speakers are always better if you buy good ones (no pc speakers), but if you don't think you need them, don't buy them...
so again, i hope you have some ideas now

  • Version 1.1 and audio out via USB problem

When I attempt to use headphones to assist editing, I prefer to use the m-audio USB transit and set my sound preferences for the iMac accordingly, but STP in my case does not work at all. Instead, I hear clicking ( about 1 sec intervals), followed by STP freeze and unless I force quit, my system freezes.
If, on the other hand, I use digital out, or a FW interface or the iMac's speakers, all is well.
I am more than mystified since FC readily works with the USB pathway with video/audio , thus allowing me to use the FW ports on this limited platform.
I have trashed STPs preferences without any result. I also cannot find (or do not know where to look for) STPs specific preferences for audio out. I apologize in advance for failing to find the reference in the manual, if that is where it is and those settings are the issue.
Any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

At the risk of seeming to be talking to myself, I can report that I have found a solution to the problem I posted. To be more precise, Apple did, some time ago.

  • Audio out via USB

Mac mini audio out port was working on and off. No cause found. So thinking of other alternatives for audio out.
Is it possible to get audio output via USB such that I can connect it to my Hi-Fi?

    Yes.

  • AC charging cradle w/ audio-out does not exist?

I've just spent hours trying to find something that, logically, should be available in plenitude, but I could not find one in existence.
I would like an *AC charging cradle with an jack for audio-out* for my ipod touch (2g).
Simple? I defy anyone to come up with one.
There are cradles that charge through USB that have audio out but mine needs to be set up away from my computer so USB doesn't hack it.
I did find exactly what I'm looking for but it was made in 2005 for earlier ipods, by Kensington, so some one at some time had the right idea.
I'll probably just get an AC charger and then just use the ipod's audio-out, but this is hardly an elegant solution.

What's wrong with the Apple Universal dock (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB125G/C?fnode=MTY1NDA0OQ&mco=MTA5MjU2MTM) together with the Apple USB charger (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB352?mco=MTM3NDk5NzY) and a cable.
I use this combination all the time to dock my iPod Touch, charge it, and play music through my Bose speakers.
