USB functionality gone on both ports on Powerbook G4

I've posted here with the incident that led to this loss of both my USB ports.
What basically happened is a little (I mean, very little) spark on the left USB port as I was plugging in the cable from my HP CLJ2600n. Then all USB devices stopped mounting/getting recognised by the system.
Don't want to be overly optimistic, but:
•System Profiler reports on all USBs,
•System Profiler reports on all IO Extensions, including the IOUSBxxx Extensions, that they are Valid, Authentic, Dependencies are Satisfied and Integrity is Correct, and
•/usr/sbin/system_profiler in Terminal.app reports on all USBs.
Whenever I plug any USB device on either of the two ports, however, I get the following lines (or similar) in system.log:

Does anyone out there think I might have a hardware problem? Or just a software one?
Should I try reinstalling the latest MacOS X Combo Update?

USB Headset Works in One Port, Not the Other

When I got my headset (Logitech) it worked perfectly just after plugging it in and using it. It worked while plugged in to either of my USB ports on my laptop. Recently however, it has not worked at all while plugged in to the port on the left, while it still does work when plugged in to the port on the right.
If I open iTunes while plugged in to the non-working left port and make sure to change my system prefs so that the input and output use the Logtech USB Headset, then I hear no sound of any kind. If I then simply plug the USB headset into the other side of the computer without changing any settings, it works fine. This is new behavior as it used to work in both ports.
Another thing to note is that the volume control buttons on the headset still work even when plugged into the USB port that doesn't play sound. Also, I successfully plug in my printer, mouse and other devices to both ports and they all work fine.
I've tried repairing permissions, repairing preferences, and restarting, but nothing has helped so far.
Any ideas on why this would happen with any device?

Which operating system are you running? I have similar problems in a configuration with and iMac and a Macbook, but haven't tried to switch the system around. see this thread:

My problem arose when upgrading the iMac to run OS 10.5.8.

Would like to use both ports adc dvi for hdmi for maca1047

Hello, it may be tough finding an ADC->DVI adapter, & not certain ADC->DVI->HDMI 2 adapters will work.
I'm reasonably certain Apple no longer carries anything for ADC.

SunVideoPlus: capture from both ports simultaneously

Hi all,
Is it possible to capture from both ports of a SunVideoPlus capture board simultaneously?
I have successfully created 2 frames, each for a media locator sunvideoplus://0/1 and sunvideoplus://0/2. When starting the capture, a video stream appears in one of the frames. The other displays a snapshot of the same stream. This makes me believe that only one port can be used at any one point.
Alternatively, has anyone worked with switching between ports at some high frequency, e.g. every 1/15 seconds or every second?

I've got a similar problem in which I would like to process multiple streams from several webcams at once. I'm getting this popup thingy to choose the stream, but I would like java to be able to handle it.

USB Functionality in Virtual Mode

Cannot use USB devices in Windows XP Mode. Running Windows 7 Professional. When I click on the USB menu item, get:
"The virtualization driver needed for USB functionality is not working."
There is no USB listed in the Device Manager Tree.
There are 3 devices listed with question marks. All three say "Virtualization PC Integration Device."

I am having the following issue related to USB connections in the XP VM:
Inside of Windows XP mode - Windows Virtual PC, When I click on the USB button (to attach/detach USB devices), a popup window appears, titled: "Windows XP mode - Windows Virtual PC" with a big red X to the left of the message: "Virtual PC cannot support
more then 16 USB devices. Disconnect one or more USB devices and try again." (See below).
I poked around but haven't found a cause, solution or any mention of this exact error message on the Internet yet.
I do not have 16 USB devices appearing anyplace (device manager, etc). I can't attach any because I can't get past that message, Clicking OK dismisses the pop-up until clicking on the attach/detatch USB dropdown button again.
I tried uninstalling the USB Virtualization Connector Driver and then reinstalling it again (as per your instructions above) hoping it might reset any enumeration counters for the number of USB devices connected to the XP Virtual Machine, but reinstalling
the USB Virtualization Connector Driver on my Win7 host does not seem to fix this issue. I continue to get the error message window (see below).
Are you aware of any fixes I can try to correct this issue I am having with my XP Virtual machine? I'm trying to verify a legacy printer is working proplery and I need to install the drivers/software on the XP VM as there are no current drivers for
Win7 for this printer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry there are not any Wireless USB Peripherals yet. The "Enhanced Performance Wireless USB Keyboard and Optical Mouse part number 73P4067" uses a proprietary wireless signal.

I'm in telecom sector working for all providers in suriname. I just came from the company that supports 3g on 850mhz.
They did a trace om the imei/imsi.
The ipad 2 connect to 3g networks(seen at switch level) and the ipad3 never tries to connect to 3g it goes directly to edge. It not that it fails or smth similair it just doesnt connect 3g network.
I think the att 3g is locked because as above the att 3g sim with international data works on the same network on 3g.
I'm going to buy a verizon version as both have same umts:hspa frequencies on lte differ and here we don't have lte.
I have seen the verizon version working on hspa+(4g) att network.
I know for a fact that the 3g freq is not lock. I'll keep everybody posted.

When you share an iCloud account, any data you sync with the account is merged, and any actions you take on one device (such as deleteing contacts) is synced to all other devices sharing the account. To avoid this, each person's device(s) should have a separate iCloud account with a separate ID. (You can continue to share your iTunes account; it does not need to have the same ID as the one used for iCloud.)
To create separate icloud accounts, decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account. On the one that will be changing accounts, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).
As for recovering the deleted contacts, you can try restoring her phone from her most recent backup. This may recover the contacts, however it often doesn't. Restoring to an iCloud backup has to be done in the initial setup process. If she have any data on your phone now that is not in the backup that she wants to save she will need to do that first. Then go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. You will then go through the setup screens as you did when the phone was new. When given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup. Be sure you are connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.

Just completed another restore. iTunes says the the iPad has been restored and will restart automatically and appear in iTunes when it is ready. That was 30 minutes ago. iPad still won't start. I am looking down the barrel of yet another fruitless restore. What a crap product.

Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple logo.

Toshiba 55VL963 - TV to USB function reports write errors

I have 55vl963 TV with lastest firmware 6.9.MD.1
I am trying to get channel lists and other settings through Hotel clone function.
However, it seems the TV to USB function often reports write errors (or sometimes ends successfully but generates corrupted files).
I tried different USB media, formated in FAT16 or FAT32.
Thanks for any help on resolving this.

Tonny, I'm not sure about my 32RL900A, as I have not had any problem with USB recording, (and have forgotten whether it has its own "Format" function), but suggest that you look in the setup area of your menu, and see if your model has the "Format Disk" function, and if so, see if your model will format your USB stick, and then, if so, use it.
As I said, it has been a little while since I plugged a USB stick in to ours and it has been left in and used a number of times, without any problems, so such things have a habit of being forgotten, when everything is going smoothly!!!
