USB headset drops audio input during Skype call

I just bought a new iMac. When I initiate a Skype call using the H650e, almost immediately after the call connects the H650e loses audio input. I speak into the mic but the person I'm speaking with can't hear me. When I open the audio preference pane, I see that the H650e is selected as the input device, but the levels are not registering when I speak.
This problem is reproducible; it happens every time I use the microphone with Skype on the iMac. However, it does not happen when I use it with Skype on my Macbook Air.
That suggests the problem might be with the iMac, but Apple is claiming they can't help because it's a non-Apple product. Logitech claims they can't help since the headset works with the Macbook Air. And Skype claims the same.
What now?

fyi ....
i ran a quick repair permissions with disk utility and the problem seems to have sorted itself out. on further thought i think this started to happen after i downloaded the latest s/w update from apple - i recall a whole bundle of fixes to various powerpc issues...maybe something here upset the balance.

  • Bluetooth dongle over usb extension/hub - can't use headset as audio input

I've been attempting to extend my bluetooth range by using a usb extension lead (with built in repeater) so that my bluetooth dongle is in the center of the house and thus maximize coverage, at first i had no problems at all -> i can send and recieve files using my phone and use my bluetooth headset (avro) as an audio output device and this all works fine and dandy BUT i cannot use my headset as an input device. There was another user who was having the same problem but they were using a usb hub.
There is a small fix to this -> don't use extension/hub but plug the dongle straight into a usb port on your mac, but this doesn't really help at all as it means i have to be in my room and can't use bluetooth over the rest of my house.
Is anyone else having similar problems and know of a way to fix it? I thought maybe the signal wasn't strong enough from the microphone, but even if i'm right next it doesn't work.. Maybe if i used a powered usb hub that would boast the usb?
Just to add, this is not a firmware problem or not pairing problem-> when dongle is connected directly to the mac it works fine, but when it is via the extension lead the sound bar doesn't change when i select my headset from in sounds output menu

I've plugged the extension cord into the usb 1 port on my keyboard (apple = genious) instead of the usb 2 port on the side of my emac and it works PERFECTLY....
Whilst this is odd, it works so i'm leaving this up incase anyone else has this problem

  • Loss of Mic Audio during Skype Call

I currently have a Nexus 6 Android 5.0.1 and at about one minute into a Skype call the other party looses audio from me - I have tried all the normal repairs - remove then reboot and reinstall Skype - remove any conflicting applications, etc. However after noticing similar complaints from Tablets I presume this is a bug in the current version of Skype for Android.
    Anyone have a suggestion?

Sadly, I've been experiencing this problem for 2 years now. Here's the link to my original post:
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Android-archive/Mic-and-Speakerphone-stop-working-mid-conversation/m-p...
I have the same issue when calling with Skype using my Android Nexus 4, which has the latest versions of the Android OS (5.0.1) and Skype (5.1.0.58677).
The only workaround that I've found, and it's not really a solution, is to use the Skype app for Windows (desktop) when possible, and avoid calling from my Android phone.
Hopefully, the people at Skype can address this issue, since it's been a long-standing issue.

  • My audio plays for skype call participants

I just got a new headset (Mad Catz F.R.E.Q. 3) and since I started using this headset people I talk to on skype can hear what music I listen to or what games I play while skyping for some odd reason. I did some testing on this with Echo and found that even if I mute my microphone (not with the skype mute function, but on the actuall headset) any audio that I have on my PC will still be broadcast in skype. I tried using my old headset again (Steelseries Siberia v2) and then it worked perfectly, none of my audio was emitted to skype calls, but there has to be a setting somewhere that is at fault since my audio is heard even when my microphone is muted. I'm not sure if this makes any difference but I am also using a Deltaco external USB soundcard, that has never been problematic before though and I've used it for about 2.5 years now.
Thanks for taking your time to read this through (and also thanks for the help if you bother with that part)!

You would think with the audio sections of the motherboard being isolated from the rest of the components that it wouldnt have troubles like this. I have a request for support in with Gigabyte.

  • PrPro...Soundbooth,AfterEffects also applies: BOSE Companion 5 USB speakers - No audio input!

Several things at play with this audio setup on an Intel board 2.8GHz HT CPU, 4(6)GB ram running Window Vista Ultimate but with respect to USB speakers and stereo mix input, Vegas odds are ... ain't gonna happen.
None of the Adobe audio manipulation front-ends will record audio from stereo mix as it stands in Vista. There is a native Intel package called IDTAudio which stands alone as the Windows hardware audio proxy and it enumerates system devices found on Intel's board. That is, the front & back jacks, etc.
But BOSE USB speakers are independant 5.1 sound simulators and present no venue as far as input for Adobe.
    Please advise:
Is there any way BOSE USB speakers and audio generated by the Intel hardware can be routed through any Adobe product (Premiere Pro, Soundbooth, AfterEffects)
(Note: disabling USB speakers in windows sound and enabling all other board audio input&output devices will activate Adobe inputs in each of the above apps and recording can be done; but without monitor capabilities. The recordings can be played back after reenabling USB speakers & redisabling the default audio output devices.
Not the end of the story though:
Any audio recorded [then played back ... on the same system (sp?)] is RICHLY & DEEPLY reverb/echo altered.
    Thanks in advance!

I ended up doing a format and clean install of my hdd, and did not update garageband, I will try this, thanks

  • Upon using USB Headsets the audio gets distorted

    Hi
I have used USB headset in other laptops including HP but have never faced this problem. But I get this problem with the new notebook, and after a few minutes of use the audio quality automatically gets distorted and loud.
This is not a problem with the USB headsets since I have been using them since long without any problem, and they dont give me any distortion with other notebooks even today.
    Please advise.

The headset has an independent C-Media audio chip that accepts USB on one side and has it's own AC97/DAC. Because are 2 devices (one USB controller and one AC97 sound chip) apears in 2 places in Windows devices! For more info look here:
    http://www.cmedia.com.tw/?q=en/usb_audio
CM06-F+/ L+ is a highly integrated single chip USB audio solution. All essential analog modules are embedded in CM06F+/L+, including 8CH DAC and earphone buffer, 2CH ADC, microphone booster, PLL, regulator, and USB transcei'ver.
I would correct the affirmation made by somebody that USB audio devices are no soundcards - YES there are soundcards with an USB controller instead of the usual PCI one! The digital data flows on USB instead of PCI to the audio controller that send it to the integrated DAC's and to the headsets.
So trying to use the USB headset via the X-Fi is like you are trying to use the on-board soundcard via the X-Fi...

  • Static audio noise during a call

    Hello,
Few days ago I bought Z3 compact and all works fine but one thing. I hear static audio noise (ssshhhhh) when speaker is activated - for example when i make a call or if i play music/video and turn volume down/off. I would like to know if this is normal on Z3 compact or i should go to service? I tried some other phone brands and there is absolutely no static noise on them. Can someone confirm me if he does/doesn't experience this? Btw. volume of that noise is not huge, just enough to annoy you during a call. Thx.
    Regards.

Hi. Just an update on subject. I took the phone to the repair service and they said all is normal - so they are telling me that background sound noise in earspeaker is a normal thing on a top model worth 500 EUR. Great. This really deserves detail sound review to be made via YT video. I will analyze amount of sound noise with sound editing software and publish video. Then we will see how normal all this is. Btw. same problem is described also here:

  • Get audio stream during phone call?

Im just wondering if anyone knows if i can stream the audio of a telephone call in realtime foe use in my app. I want to clarify that i only wish to get the sound data from the microphone of the app user and not the other user on the other end of the call (for privacy reasons of course). Thanks in advance

Guys, my daughter in Norman at OU has had problems all day. Phone shows 3G connection and full strength on bars but slow texting, dropped calls and sometime even unable to call out. Rebooted phone twice with no luck.
Strange its Oklahoma. Several have made appts to genius bar. Tried to make on in OKC at Penn Square around her classes but could not. Only a few available next week on Tues and Weds. They seem pretty booked up - I bet with the same problems.
I suspect this is an AT&T issue, but if anyone gets back from the Genius Bar with answers or ideas, please post them here so we can all learn. Thanks!

  • IPhone 4s-ios6-purple haze coming during skype call

I'm using iPhone 4s. After ios6 update a purple haze is coming in the picture when doing a skype call. In ios5 this issue was not there.

I do not have this issue on my phone. I have a iPhone 4s as well.
That's pretty incredible. Try seeing if you can see a remote control flashing purple. If you can, you've got an issue with your front camera allowing NIR into your camera sensor..  There is a really easy way to solve this fortunately.

  • Audio not working during Skype call

Last night I was in a group call with some people and my audio worked perfectly fine, when I got home from work today and tried to get in a call none of the chat audio works. Before anyone says anything my drivers are current and I have the correct audio outputs selected, all the sounds except the call audio work. I have tried reupdating drivers, running dxdiag.exe, and even trying headphones and switching audio devices.

  • Plantronics USB Headset No audio

I'm using a plantronics .audio 85 headset. I've set the input to be the plantronics headset. This shows up in the sound preference pane. I have the sound output routed to the headset also. If I play a song in itunes I can here on the headset. I get no response from the microphone. I know the headset microphone works I connected it to my italk connected to my ipod and made a short recording of audio note. The sound was good.
I've searched the discussion boards and I haven't found any thing about what is causing this. This Plantronics headset uses a USB DSP Audio interface. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Paul,
You need LineIn. I also use a Plantronics headset for iChat and Dragon Naturally Speaking. Here's the LineIn description...
"LineIn is a simple application for OS X to enable the soft playthru of audio from input devices. In simpler terms, you can use LineIn to play sound coming in through a microphone or any other device plugged in to your Sound In port, just as was once available with OS 9's "Play input through output device" option."

  • Microsoft USB headset, no audio

I bought a Microsoft USB LifeChat LX-3000 headset and it installed fine on my wife's new Vista Toshiba laptop but when I installed it on my M-115-S3094 laptop with XP it will continue to play out the speakers but not the headset. Iam able to control the volume on the laptop with the volume adjuster on the headset but no audio comes out of the headset itself.
I talked with a Toshiba person who said to download USB drivers from their site but I can't find where.
Thanks for any help in advance,
    Rick

  • Audio disappears during Facetime calls

I frequently talk to a friend using Facetime, but occasionally my friend's audio disappears. When that happens, our only recourse is to switch to Skype. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be? My friend's Mac is a fairly recent iMac running Lion 10.7.5. My iMac is running Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
    Thanks!

    Dear Apple,
I have been a loyal customer since 1991. I have enjoyed nearly every product. I love - LOVE Facetime.
But the audio dropout problem STINKS. PLEASE FIX IT.
Seriously, there should be an easy software fix to prevent the auto-volume control from dropping one party's sound so low that it is inaudible. You can do SIRI for crying out loud, surely you can FIX THIS.
    Thank you!
    Blucaso
And yes, I'm going to post this message on every darn thread related til this. Everyone else should do the same. Make some noise people! Let's get this thing fixed.

  • NEW! iPhone recent audio problems/audio stops during phone call

I have only noticed this problem for the last 1-2 weeks. I didn't think much of it, until 2 other friends were talking about the same problem.
I will be in the middle of a conversation on my phone, when I notice that the other person isn't talking back...I'm getting zero audio out of the earphone. They can hear me just fine, I've discovered. I have to disconnect the call and then call them back.
One friend has an iPhone 3G. I have the 3GS. I'm using firmware 3.0. He has updated it to 3.0.1. Another friend has a 3GS with firmware 3.0.1 as well. Same problem.
I have noticed that it MOST frequently happens after about 4 minutes of conversation time, but it's not every time.
Has anyone else been experiencing this? This isn't the usual dropped calls or "call failed" message.
