USB in car audio

I have a 2010 Hyundai Sonata, and an IPhone 4. I am unable to use the music on the iPhone through the USB port in the car. Does anyone have suggestions or know where I can find a solution?
Thanks

I have a 2011 Hyundai Sonata and am in the same boat. I can control my music from the iPhone itself and get it working that way, but my in-car controls don't work at all.
I have been reading about this in other areas and some have suggested to wait until Bluetooth connects and then try, but that has not worked for me either.

  • IOS 4.2 Still NO Fix for USB Car Audio (AVN726E)

With the Release of iOS 4.2.1; I rushed to update hoping that it would fix my USB to Car Audio, but it doesnt, what exactly is Apple trying to accomplish by removing functionality..
I own an Eclipse AVN726E which I've come to learn is also the system that Toyota/Lexus uses in some of their vehicles..
Granted I can play audio through the Bluetooth Audio selection but then the devices doesnt charge..
I plug in my iPhone 4 and it just hangs on "Reading..."
Does anyone have any ideas or anything that I can try to make this work..
Or is this all in the hands of Apple..

I've got a Kenwood KDC-MP345U and had the "Reading" hang problem after doing the 4.2.1 update. This worked for me...
I simply did a full restore using the Restore button in iTunes. It will ask you if you want to back up your phone first -- cancel out and do it! Then hit the Restore button again. This will restore the iPhone to factory settings. The phone then will update itself to the latest operating system (4.2.1). Finally, restore your own settings from your last backup. When I plugged in the phone into the MP3U, I got the "Reading" message for about 2 seconds and then everything went back to normal. Also, all my settings on the phone are exactly as before -- don't skip the backup immediately before the Restore.
    Hope this helps someone else...

  • Iphone 4 won't play via USB in car after ios7 upgrade

Music will not play via USB or Bluetooth. I own 2013 Toyota Corolla. When I plug via USB my car audio display lets me select folders and music through browse but when I select a song I get an error on the car audio display that says "read manual or contact dealership for information on how to connect". This did not happen prior to ios 7 update on my iPhone 4. Anyone else experiencing this and is there a solution or setting that I am missing?

Hi I have a 2012 Volvo V50 with premium audio. USB audio via 4S worked fine until the IOS 7 upgrade. Now i keep getting the "this accessory is not supported message"
I have read through this forum and the only thing apple suggests is "update your car oudio system"
This is total BS!  Ever heard of backward compatibility? Get this fixed or Android is next for me! Apples resoponse so far shows absolute arrogance.
I am not the only one and a simple search shows thousands of people having the same issues. Asked my car dealer already and they have loads of people with the same issues. Only devices with issues are Iphones and Ipods since the IOS 7 upgrade. Reset as suggested does not work.

  • How to stop iphone from autoplay when plug into car audio system usb?

how to stop iphone from autoplaying when connected to your car audio USB ?

You need to remove the association that Windows has with that particular file type. To do that, you need to open Windows Explorer. From there, click on Tools, then Folder options. Click on the tab that is named file types. You then need to find the extension for the photos that appear in the iPhone, then click that registered file type. Once you do that, there is a section to select the program to open that file type with. You can click on the change button, and that will allow you to change the program that it opens with, or restore the default. There is also a box that can be checked to always use the selected program. If you unselect it, it will prompt you next time on what program to use.
    Hope this helps.

  • Iphone 6 iOS 8.1 no longer playing properly with car audio system

    Hi there,
I have an iphone 6 running ios 8.1 and it is no longer allowing me to play/pause songs through the car's audio system. I have a USB port in the car that allows me to plug my iphone in and control the Music through the car audio system.
    I have a 2011 Holden Cruze.
Prior to the iOS upgrade, the function worked fine.
Bluetooth connectivity is still OK and if I control the music via the iPhone it will play.
Is anyone else having this issue and are apple aware of it?
    Thanks.

    Hi Darren,
I'm experiencing the exact same issue with my Volkswagen Golf 2015. Since the update I'm unable to use the play/pause button. When I press the button while my phone is connected through the MDI cable it does nothing. But if I use Bluetooth I can control it without issue. That said, in my car I don't want to use Bluetooth while I'm playing music because I want to charge my iPhone at the same time so I need to use the cable. I think this is a really issue and Apple should advise.
    Update:
I did a full restore without using a backup of my old phone. Oh surprise... It seems to work now. But the worst now, is that I have this album of U2 showing in my playlist. I don't know if it's related, but that album was not showing when I used my back-up the first time. Seriously, I think Apple succeed at messing up enough with iOS 8.1 and this U2 album to break the playlist and the playback functionality with cars and radios.
To resolve the issue I tried:
Restore to iOS 8.1 with back-up - FAILED
Restore to iOS 8.1 without using any back-up - SUCCEED but fail at the same time because I need to re-setup my iPhone manually and try to get rid of this U2 album.

  • IPod shuffle will not connect to car audio

my 2015 Lexus audio system recognizes my iPod Nano's (6th &7th generation) without any problems via BT or USB; does the 4th gen iPod shuffle have the capability to play through my car's audio system with it's USB cable?

Probably not, because the iPod shuffle does not have the "standard" iPod dock connector.  It uses the headphones jack as the connection point for data.  Also, the shuffle is designed to be a more limited device, in terms of its interaction capabilities.
A better choice for connecting to a car audio system is an inexpensive USB flash drive.  You may already have one.  For example, this one barely sticks out of the USB port
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/SanDisk/SDCZ33016G/
and has many times the storage capacity of a shuffle.  You can load it with your favorite songs and just leave it connected in the car, instead of constantly connecting and disconnecting an iPod (which causes wear on the iPod).

  • Message "Accessory connected" when connecting to my car audio

    Hi,
I bought a new iPod Touch recently but haven't tried connecting it to my car audio through the car's USB interface. When I tried connecting it to my car audio, the iPod interface vanished and a screen with "Accessory connected" appeared and it is simply impossible to get out of this interface. Also, my car's displays "Load" with an "iPod" indicator but doesn't seem to play the music. I read in the discussion forum that pressing the "Home" key would bring up the iPod screen which is correct, but the moment I tap on the "Music" option, the iPod again brings up the "Accessory connected' screen. I'm connecting my iPod to my Honda City car audio and the iPod Touch version is 4.1.
Has anyone had similar issues with interfacing iPod Touch with their car audio system?
    TIA
    Best Regards
    Ramanujam

    Hi Ramanujam,
It's possible that your car audio system offers the functionality of a "2-way mode" (ie: allowing you to operate via either the iPod itself or the head unit of the car audio system). Check your car audio manual, and switch the controlling terminal from "headunit mode" to "iPod mode" for iPod playback. Once in "iPod mode", you should find that your iPod's menu should operate as normal.
I'm not familiar with the audio system in your Honda City, however, by example, pressing & holding the "back" key on a JVC headunit will switch between playback modes.
If this solution is not successful, try connecting your ipod via the USB interface while holding the iPod in a "landscape mode" (ie: sideways). You may find that you have limited functionality & can scroll through album covers in order to make song selections. NB: Be sure to hold your iPod in a landscape mode before connecting, rather than connecting the iPod in a "portrait mode" and then rotating the device 90 degrees.
    Wishing you luck,
    Malcolm

  • USB in car doesn't recognize my iPod

I recently changed y car, and the new one has a USB port so you can listen to music, but when I connect my iPod via USB it says that the device is not supported, do I need an extra adapter? Do I need to install something to my iPod? or what can I do?

Does the car' stereo actually support playing the iPod from its Dock Connector to the USB pins? Check with the car's manufacturer, or an In-Car-audio specialist.
My car, which is a four year old Mazda 3, has connections on the back of its stereo for connecting external devices, but for it to see an iPod, it needs an adaptor. I purchased a Dension adaptor. However, each car and each year of the same car can be different to one another, so that's why I recommended that you try the car's manufacturer, or an In-Car-audio specialist.

  • Ios 8.1.1 can't hear music using USB in car

I have seen many comments about blue tooth connectivity problems with 8.1.1 (which I just updated to).
Prior to update I could connect iphone 4s via USB cable in Hyundai 2012 ix35 and play music thru car audio. Since update I cannot.
    My kids ipod works fine.
My bluetooth - calling in and out works fine.
As soon as I plug in iphone via usb in the car a song plays for 1 second and then I lose the volume. Volume on car audio doesn't make a difference and volume on music on iphone can'r be altered (using slide button or volume buttons on side).
I have changed name of iphone for my blue tooth and paired again - although have never used Bluetooth to listen to music but other forum said I should try that.
Can anyone help? Was hoping at least one Hyundai employee would have faced same problems but appears not.

  • Ipod nano 5g not recognised by car audio application

    Hello,

At last, Vauxhall have come up with the solution. It seems that the fact the original advertising literature not mentioning the 4G was an error as they are all compatible. Apparently to make the system work it is essential to have the engine running before you make the USB connection. If you do not have the engine running the system becomes confused and therefore shuts down completely, which is what happened to me. If this happens then the only way of rectifying it is to return the car to the dealership and have the system completely re-configured. Obviously I mentioned the fact that this was not explained when I collected the car and they admitted that this should be made clearer for future customers

  • IPhone no longer works with car audio

I'm running a 16 GB 3G-S and it worked wonderfully for my internet music such as Pandora or listening to iHeart radio.
The unit would sync up easily to both my new car audio systems and everything detected and played beautifully! However, once I upgraded to 4.2.1 the iPhone is no longer detected in "iPod Mode" or either receiver. I either get error codes from the receiver or errors from the iPhone that this is not supported (when it was in 4.1).
I really loved those features for my frequent long drives. I really hope there is a fix for this problem. I did check with both receiver manufacturers and they maintain their units should work.
Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated!

That is wild! My receiver had problems under 4.1, and I upgraded to 4.2 last night hoping to rectify things. It worked for me, flies through the menus and plays back beautifully again.
I have a 3GS and a Pioneer deck in the truck.

  • IPhone 5S with ios8 fail to connect my Bluetooth car audio system

    Dear apple users and developers,
I have read many threads about this issue mostly for iPhone 5 (ok i have the 5S) perhaps this makes a difference. With the ios7 i had no issue and always connected to my MHV-8300BT Pioneer device in my car. After update, when i get connected, i says "Calling My number" and when i push the button on my device to answer it drops the line, it keeps the connection but i do not hear, speak. Then i have to change the source voice system and i set the speaker or the iPhone.
On my fathers Bluetooth, a Motorola, it works, at the beginning i made a reset only for the Network settings,
Do not know what else to do
    Thanks for reading my post
