Does it do anything to have the USB plugged in all the time without having an IOS device connected?

Thanks for your response.

If not successful then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. You are not alone with this problem.

  • Micro usb audio out feature addition request

so i had a pair on micro usb headphones out and i thought it would work on my stream 7, because of the buzzing problem. However it doesnt work and windows dosnt seem to read it either. Any way for a bios update for the stream 7 so micro usb audio out will work, and any hp prgram for them to make, so i can use headphones.
    This question was solved.

I know of no device that has OTG "Built in".. so with that said...Micro USB headphones are in more of a testing phase, and only supported by a select few phones/tablets. The device itself has to be "usb headphone aware" because normaly none of these devices default to host mode (ie none of them react to usb connections in the same way a PC/laptop does).
USB phones have been around for a while, and if MicroUSB headphones have a fall back that allows it to be detected as a sound device by any usb host port then using an OTG cable (You will probably need an adapter to convert the Type A connection back to Micro B) it should work fine on the Stream 7. However my understanding is microusb headphones are being designed around a more direct support from mobile devices, much like MHL offered HDMI over usb.

  • Can video be loaded to ipad from any camcorder with a usb (video out) cord?

Using the camera connection kit usb adaptor, can video be downloaded to an iPad2 from any camcorder with a usb (video out) cord?  Would the video then be accessed via iTunes?

    From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4101 :
iPad Camera Connection Kit imports most media files on the camera or SD card, regardless of whether that format is compatible with iPad. If you are unable to view certain images or videos, verify that they are in an iPad compatible format, or import them to your computer for viewing.
They should then be accessible from your computer, but not via iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

  • Midi / USB drop out since Lion upgrade!

Hi all, i have had great responses and success in the past with this forum, i really really hope this will continue.
I have been gigging using mainstage 2 and a M-Audio Oxygen midi keyboard controller for a few years now and until lately it's been fantastic. I will never go back to a stand alone manufactured synth. I am using a macbook pro, 2.93ghz with 8 gb ram. I initially upgraded from snow leopard to lion when it was launched but had to go back as Creative hadn't any lion drivers for use with my emu 0202 audio interface. Last month i found that they had done them and i re-upgraded to Lion. Since the upgrade i am experiencing Midi drop outs. This is to say that whilst performing i get an error message saying something like midi input device no longer available. This has happened a few times now but last night (new years eve!!), not only did i get this message which i sorted with a reboot but a few minutes later i had a midi note hang and i noticed that there was no longer any usb supplied power to my keyboard. The answer again at this stage was a reboot.
I would ideally not like to reinstall snow leopard as there are quite a few great things in lion which i would miss, but obviously if i can't resolve these issues i don't see that i have any other choice.
Any possible suggestions as to what may be causing these problems will be very much appreciated.
    Thanking you in advance
    Mark
    PS    Happy New Year

My experience with Lion was great for a while, it was effortless, everything I had attached still worked with no problems aside from needing occasional drivers.  Once Lion 10.7.2 was released, I updated my system and again, no problems.  If I recall correctly, 10.7.2 was released in October.  Suddenly in December, I began having random software and midi issues all around my system.  I do not use Mainstage but I have noticed others have had similar problems with various software and USB midi controllers, and have not seen a fix.
I regularly use Pro Tools 8, Ableton Live 8 and occasionally Reason 5.  I also have an M-Audio Axiom 61 and Korg padKontrol attached via USB.  After about 2 months of trouble-free operation, Live and Reason would not open and the accompanying software for my padKontrol no longer would either.  These apps would just "hang" and I would eventually have to force quit them.  In addition, Audio Midi Setup would also hang when attempting to switch to the midi preferences page.  Pro Tools still worked, but I could no longer receive midi signals.  I also use a wireless USB stick to connect to my home wifi signal and that no longer worked and neither did the accompanying software.
It's possible that there are deeper issues in your system as well as mine and the others having similar problems.
At times, I wonder if there is some kernel errors embedded in my computer.  I got my MacPro when Snow Leopard was fairly new and had numerous kernel errors resulting in many applications not functioning.  I eventually sorted them out but ran into similar USB related issues with the Snow Leopard 10.6.8 update, so I remained on 10.6.7 until Lion was released.
The only successful fix I've had is switching from Lion back to Snow Leopard 10.6.7 after erasing my entire hard drive.  I've tried reinstalling Lion through both upgrading from Snow Leopard and a clean install of 10.7.2 after erasing my hard drive again.
I believe my USB and midi problems stem from kernel errors somewhere but cannot find them (I have used Disk Utility many times).  I really liked using Lion but I lose so much functionality and my internet connection so I have determined that I will not be using it.  I may try Lion again when 10.7.3 is released but am wary.  If anyone has ideas on how to fix these issues, I would love to hear them.

  • USB audio out not getting to DAC

Just set up my Macbook late 2007 OS 10.7.5 to a Denon DA-300USB DAC.
I'm successfully playing files out of JRiver Media Center software via Mac's digital audio out through an optical audio cable. But optical audio has limitations on bitrate, only to 24-bit/96khz.
I want to use higher rates and have some higher res files. The DA-300USB can process up to 24/192 and DSD files using USB.
When I connect the DAC using USB and power on the DAC, the sound preference pane adds the option "Audio Out High Speed USB," which is what I select. This indicates the computer is seeing the DAC.
But when I play a file, the DAC display reads "unlock," meaning it's not receiving audio. And the sound plays through the internal speakers, Ugh!
Denon says no driver is needed for this device -- indeed the computer does detect a USB audio connection when the DAC is on.
    Is there something I'm missing?

According to Crutchfield, this DAC can only process ALAC up to 96 kHz.  Can you get lower res files to play using the USB connection?

  • Usb audio out from airport express

    Hi,
If I want to put a DAC with USB input between Airport Express and my stereo, will I be able to do so?  I'm thinking about using the NuForce Icon-2 DAC.  So Itunes>>Airport Express>>NuForce DAC>>stereo receiver.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

    Sorry, but no.
You will have to use the optical audio output on the AirPort Express if you want a digital out.
The USB port will only support a compatible printer.

  • How to prevent Mac Pro to select USB audio out instead of optical audio out?

I have the following problem: Usually I use the optical audio output of my Mac Pro, but every time I reboot the system, Mac OS X changes the audio output to an usb audio device I've attached to use it with Boot Camp. Is it possible to prevent Mac OS X from changing the audio output automatically every time I start my system?

I have no problems with the audio out (the jack on the back) on my Mac Pro, though I'm not using a high-end stereo and I'm in an office environment so I may not hear subtle noise. If you haven't tried a different cable, you might try that. If your stereo supports it, you can also try the optical output.
As far as it not playing at all, make sure the Output setting in the Sound system preference is set to "line out" (or digital out if you're using the optical jack).

  • USB audio out of phase

I'm having a strange problem with the USB audio output of my PowerBook. The left and right channels are out of phase, both on my USB speakers and my USB headset. The analog output from the headphone jack is fine.
The problem seems to have arisen some time around my 10.4.9 or 10.4.10 upgrade, although I can't be sure that it's related. It's still happening in 10.4.11. I suspected something strange when Skype stopped working with my headset, but it took me a lot of thinking and a tone generator to determine what the problem was. Now I'm just about positive that all USB audio output is phase reversed between left and right.
Has anyone heard of this? I couldn't find anything in the forums. Thanks for any help you can provide.

You may need to verify the Hd & Repair from another volume, HD, Mac, or Install CD/DVD if necessary.
Then Repair Permissions... trouble is if you don't do this step before & after every update, you can't be assured of every file in the update/upgrade being replaced/updated, it may require reapplying a big Combo update afterwards, or even an Archive & Install after everything is fixed otherwise, personally, I use Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.

  • USB Dropping Out

Been reading as much as I could to see if I could the same problem, but alas I cannot:
I have a PowerMac G5 Dual 2ghz running OSX Tiger. About a year ago I bought a USB 2.0 external notebook harddrive which has been giving me grief on my machine.
When I plug it in to the USB port on the machine, the drive will start fine, mount, and be fine until I start using it, and especially if I transfer large amounts of files. Suddenly the drive will just cease to work. It usually gives me a strange beep or audible mechanical noise and then doesn't work at all. This also tends to freeze my machine until I yank out the drive.
I've replaced both the enclosure and the drive itself, same problem. I've used co-workers drives and also had the same issue. At home I'm using a dinky little G4 eMac,also running Tiger, and this has never been an issue. It has also never been an issue on any other machine in our office, all macs, all running either Panther or Tiger.
I'm thinking it's a power issue of some sort, beause the regular full-sized external drives, which need external power, always run just fine. The machine has never given me any errors for this but it keeps happening.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
    powermac g5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The machine may just need a Zap of the PRAM:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
It also may need a firmware update. This article should help you tell
    what G5 model you have:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86790
and firmware updates can be found on http://www.apple.com/swupdates/
Also, many third party USB devices has issues with low power, especially after Energy Saver runs. Try rebooting the machine and see if the issue persists. If the issue persists after restart, then it probably isn't an Energy Saver issue.

  • File Capture with Pinnacle 510-USB badly out of sync

    Greetings,
I'm using a USB-connected Pinnacle 510-USB device to capture an H.264 video stream using 500Kbps, 15fps at 720x480 and MP3 audo at 44100 Hz, 128Kbps.  The saved .f4v file is badly out of sync.  The video lags the audio badly and is quite jerky while the audio is rock solid and very good.
The machine I'm using is a 2.99Ghz Pentium4 running Windows XP SP3 with 3GB RAM.  Task manager reports that FMLE is consuming almost all the CPU and I'm concerned that I'm just asking the computer to do too much.
Do I need to reduce my settings some to lessen the load on the computer?
    --[Lance]

I have also faced issues of audio and video sync in FMLE with Pinnacle USB devices.
Issue is at the device end because device tends to give audio and video packets out of sync. FMLE here cant do anything when device itself gives packets out of sync
Evenother devices like Osprey also gives packets out of synch when CPU usage of system goes beyond 90-95%.
So i suggest you to use some machine in which FMLE works fine at lower CPU.
Video settings that you have told us are very much sufficient for even a 2 core machine so i cannot really say why your machine is not able to encode Video at that settings

  • USB pin out question

What is the difference between the USB header pin out on a 266 pro2 RU board and the KT3 Ultra 2 boards?  I replaced the RU board with the ultra2 board, keeping the USB brackets and connecting  them to the USB 2 headers on the new board. These USB connectors never worked.   Finally replaced one with the DLED/USB2 bracket that came with the Ultra 2 board, Works just fine. I thought the pin out were the same... must be wrong somewhere...

  • Does anyone know the sound card specs (USB/Optical out) for the Macbook Pro 15 Retina?

I have looked everywhere and have just given up. The "technical specs" aren't very technical at all. Anyway, I have mine hooked up to a Cinema display, so the Thunderbolt and one USB are used on the left hand side. That leaves just one USB for 3 printers, one scanner, my Griffin PowerMate and my DAC. So I was wondering if using the Optical (Toslink Mini) out in the headphone jack might be a plan if I can find a DAc that deosn't need the USB for power AND if the optical out is 24/192.
I am just starting to set the laptop up as a replacement for my Mac Pro Desktop so wondering what to do here.
    Thanks!

I've just started to look into an issue I'm having with my DAC and my new iMac. There are some serious issues with using a DAC with USB3.0, so you may not even be able to use your DAC on your USB port. I'm getting a lot of popping noises when going through my USB 3.0 ports. I've had some success my hooking my DAC up to a UDSB hub (which is USB2). Problem there becomes power supply issue, whereas the problem with USB3 is data transfer.
