USB Keyboard/Mouse do not function in Bios (Bios Change log too)

I have 1.7 and the system seems fairly stable, a few BSOD's occasionally and it normally seems to occur when the system is idle. I can work on that, but now when I boot my usb keyboard will not function for the EFI/Bios. I have a Old PS2 keyboard working for now but was hoping there is some work around that someone might now. Everything is enabled in the Bios and I even disabled, saved, re- enabled, saved.
Saving (F10) still causes the system to power down, but I can live with that.
Now for the BIOS, can we get a change log to determine what issues are being resolved with these update? I have 1.8b7 downloaded but last update I lost my Raid array so I want to see change logs before a possible rebuild.
Lastly I am used to new hardware having issues especially with OCing, but the EFI/BIOS seems extremely temperamental. First MSI board and my work is on the road a lot so I am hoping to get some of this fixed soon.
Thanks for any advice

  • Keyboard/mouse do not function after waking from sleep?

Hi, I've recently noticed that when ever I wake my MacBook from sleep mode, the keyboard and mouse do not respond to any input. It does not occur every time, but the majority. If I close the display a few more times and wake it again it can sometimes work but obviously this is time consuming.
Has anyone else encountered this or know of a solution?
    Thanks in advance

Well I just bought my iMac few days ago, the Apple propaganda is all that their products are so much better and blablablabla, basically sales talk.
Anyway, I was stupid enough to buy one and now I'm feeling the "real Mac expirience", keyboard and mouse have a lot of "wireless" connection issues but what real ****** me of is the fact that if my keyboard does not connect I have to shut the iMac on the on/off button, which i supose is not very good for the Mac's health, but well this is the leasson.
Resuming I have the same problem as the one reported here, and worse than the problem is seeing Apple's "support" on this subject, which is nule, this worries me even more.
Back to crap computers that at least work out.

  • Keyboard & Mouse Completely Not Functioning After 10.5 Upgrade

I've had my MacBook since August 2006. I haven't had many problems with it, but after I upgraded to Leopard/10.5 and restarted the computer (immediately after installation), my keyboard and mouse have completely stopped working.
That includes when I've connected external keyboards and mice. I have no way of using my computer.
Any suggestions before I bring it into the Apple Store? Is this a known problem? I don't want to be without my computer for a month, so I'd like to try to fix it at home first...

I have unchecked "Use all F1 etc keys as standard function keys" in keyboard prefs and we are back to normal.
    This has worked.

  • Using external HD Cinema display and USB keyboard/mouse with "closed" MBP

I have an early 2009 17-inch MacBook Pro and a ~2007 HD Cinema Display. I routinely hook up my cinema display and an external USB keyboard/mouse when I am at my desk, and I close the lid on the MacBook to just use the external display. When I leave the office (I do about 50% of my work away from my desk) I use the MacBook on its own, often just putting it to sleep while I connect or disconnect the monitor and keyboard.
My problem comes more often when I have used my computer on its own, and I try to plug it back into my cinema display. I have the computer set to ask for a password on coming out of sleep or screen saver, and every so often the computer just hangs when I wake it up--usually when I plug in the external keyboard. When I am able to login, sometimes I am not able to use any of the icons on my desktop--it's almost as if they are not there or recognized by the finder. My solution has been to go into the view options and choose to re-arrange the desktop in some way, and then I can select them again as normal. This is a frustrating solution as 1. it takes extra time, and 2. I loose my desktop arrangement, which makes it hard to easily find what I'm looking for.
Is there a "better" way (order of plugging things in, settings, etc. besides shutting down and restarting) to connect and disconnect my MacBook from my external monitor and keyboard to assure an easy login and use of my desktop icons?

I'm not sure if this is germane, but Apple specifically warns about plugging or unplugging USB or FireWire devices from the laptops while they are sleeping. Doing so can result in kernel panics, crashes, inability to wake up the computer, etc. So specifically they recommend you only connect or disconnect such devices before putting the computer to sleep and after waking it up.

  • Portg R500 - Blue Screen and keyboard mouse are not working

    Hi All,
I am using windows XP, well I was not any more due to below problem.
Laptop blue screened and now any time it goes to windows xp screen blue screen comes and reboot the system. Its not working in safe mode at all. Keyboard any mouse are not working. I cannot even go to BIOS.
I tried to plug a USB keyboard but still its same. I cannot even boot from CD.
Please could some one advise what do I need to do in order to resolve the problem.
    Thanks in advance.
    Nysoh

    Hey,
How you can test it in safe mode if keyboard doesnt work? I mean before Windows starts you have to press F8 key and then go down to select safe mode. Therefore you need the keyboard
In your case I would try to remove the battery and AC/DC adapter for at least one hour. Then connect both devices again and make sure battery is fully charged. Start your notebook and try accessing the BIOS setup and load the default settings.
If Windows doesnt start you have to do a recovery installation I think. Some Windows files might be muddled up

  • USB Keyboard w/UltraNav Not Installing? 02R0400

I currently have and IBM/Lenovo keyboard (product #02R0400) which doesn't want to install on my HP desktop computer.  My HP has Windows Vista 32-bit for the operating system to where it work perfectly well with my Sony desktop which had Windows XP for an operating system which could very well be a problem with it not showing up when plugged in to the USB port.  After speaking with technical support they gave me the correct download to install, but it didn't make any difference.
I'm open to any and all suggestions as I am in dire need of having my UltraNav mouse working as in paralyzed roughly the armpits down and using the Accessibility Options which entails using a number pad means stretching my neck to the limit since I use a mouth wand/stick in my mouth since I don't have enough use of my arms and hands.
Thank you very much for reading this and any help you could be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

    Hi
Just to document the information on the thread.
I had tried this keyboard on Windows 8 (64bits) and Windows 7 (64bits). It works with the Synaptic 16.2.19.9 driver. (20 Jun 2013)
    Model No: SK-8835
    FRU P/N: 02R0400
I had commented about it on my blog.

  • Lenovo USB keyboard - Trackpoint/Touchpas not working

I am now experiencing the same problem in Win7 as I barely got away with in Vista.
    The problem is as follows:
    - I have the Lenovo USB keyboard with built in Trackpoint and Touchpad (wonderful).
    - When I installed this keyboard in Vista it worked out of the box, but in Windows Update I got a recommended update for newer/better drivers.
    - When I installed this driver, the Trackpoint and Touchpad stoppet working - so I had to restore my system and hide these updates in Windows Update.
    - So when I install Win7 RTM these drivers seems to install with the system, and therefore the Trackpoint and Touchpad on my external keyboerd does NOT work out of the box. I do not get any updates for this either.
    Tried solutions:
    - I have tried to install the keyboerd drivers.
    - The driver with Hotkeys installs alright, but does not solve the problem.
    - The regular keyboard driver will not install, because it says that I there is a newer Synaptics-driver which has to be removed first.
    - Well, there are no installed Synaptics-drivers to be removed - probably because these drivers are installed with the system.
    - I have also tried to diable the PS/2 driver etc. but nothing works.
--> So, I am actually stuck with my wonderful external Lenovo USB keyboard without being able to use the Trackpoint or Touchpad. The worst although is that I know whats making the problem, but do not know how to solve it...
Can anybode please help, I cannot believe I am the only one having this problem (in Vista or in Win7).
    Henrik
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have a USB Travel Keyboard with UltraNav. I am not sure if it is the same as yours. But I have used the following two drivers (for Vista) and the keyboard has been working fine under Vista. Recently I upgraded to Windows 7. The vista driver seems still working fine.

One issue I found is that I cannot run the setup.exe to get the keyboard driver installed, it will claim something like OS specific program not found. But if you go inside the folder to find dpinst.exe, run it and you are good to go.
And this link for all possible drivers.

  • USB Keyboard Drivers do not work Acer Aspire X3470

Hi!  I am having a hard time trying to find the correct Driver for my Acer Aspire X3470.  Currently I am using the standard PS/2 Keyboard to input commands.  But I do not want to use that Keyboard and I want to use my USB Keyboard. I tried everything to get the right driver for it but I am having no luck at all... is there anyone that could possibly help me identify this problem¿

Hi rnoctus83, The keyboard should have an installation CDC for the driver or once you connected the system should look for the driver automatically, i would suggest to go directly to the manufactures page of your keyboard and look for the driver and installed manually and if it works that way.

  • USB Keyboard - Insert key not working

I've an HP KU-9963 usb keyboard plugged into a Dell laptop running Windows XP (all the latest updates), where all keys appear to function ok except for the Insert keys. Pressing either Insert key doesn't cause the LED to light and I get no insert action.
Has anyone ever experienced this with a usb keyboard? Could Microsoft's driver possibly be the culprit?

Ok, here is the solution I got from HP support. I checked it out in Word and it works:
If you click the Office Button – click on Word Options – then click on Advanced. Under the Section for Editing options. There is a place to select use the Insert key to control overwright mode.

  • Since installing Lion, I have not been able to utilize Time Machine (does not recognize the back-up drive); my wireless mouse does not function properly; I have experienced unreasonable delays in the system.  Is there a fix or upgrade coming?

Is there a fix or upgrade to deal with the many problems I am experiencing since I installed Lion?  I can no longer utilize Time Machine (Does not see the back-up drive); my wireless mouse does not work properly; my iMac has slowed down considerably.  I am reminded of having a PC machine again.  Bummer!

Either downgrade to Snow Leopard or try reinstalling Lion.
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
    Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • Z10 Keyboard N does not function

My Z10 arrived today.  Right out of the box the 'n' key will not function.  All of the other keys seem to function OK.  Did the OS update but still the n or N will not register!

The Z10 only works in landscape when you access a message from the hub. That's normal.
Mark the location of the N key when in portrait mode. Then test that location in other apps or functions aside from the keyboard. We want to know if it's the keyboard program or the touchscreen itself.

  • After open easy interactive driver mouse does not function in 10.6.8

When open the Easy Interactive drive to calibarate the pen mouse does not funtioning on Snow Lepoard.

    hi there,
i get the exactly same error,
i can also print by Generic PLC driver,
or output a config test page by holding power and pressing red X once on the printer.
but i always get "drucker ist belegt" which means "printer is in use" error when i try hps mac osx K550 10.7 driver !
everything works (hp utility tools to calibrate etc. stuff) except for printing from whatever application i use
what the hell is happening here? and how can i get full funtionality back?
i already have Firmware version 20061019 SPP0013H which seems like the only one i could download-
but, although i would possibly need this firmware update-
there is no way to install the firmware update,
since clever people of HP decided not to leave a tool for osx lion users,
the manual for doing firmware updates is only written for 10.4.8 users (maybe half a dozen years ago?!)
i cant find a update firmware option anywhere although i see a firmwareupdate.task plugin which seems to be for hp printer utility.... but i cant use it sensefully ....
what are you up to? making me crazy? making people buy new stuff?
is there any solution in sight?

  • MacBookPro Upgrade to 10.4.10 - Keyboard/Mouse/Touchpad Not reconized

    Hi all-
I have a very strange problem with my MBP. I've just come back from Europe, so I decided to upgrade my system to 10.4.10 and the security upgrade from june/july (I don't really remember).
The installation went smoothly, except ONE BIIIIG problem.
After the reboot, my OS doesn't reconize anymore my Keyboard/touchpad or even my external mouse. In fact, it seems that nothing is powered anymore. The caps lock button doesn't light.
I tried to boot on the backup DVD and repair autorization. There my keyboard and my mouse are working.
I'm using now my Vista bootcamp partition. Keyboard/mouse and touchpad working perfectly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my work laptop (it's why I waited so long to upgrade, to be sure).

I am experiencing a Bluetooth linking problem with my Titanium PB, using a D-Link DB-120 adapter, and my Logitech MX900 mouse. Oddly enough, the Logitech Cordless Elite keyboard works fine with my system. Only the mouse fails to link (it pairs just fine). Like other people on this forum, the linking problem developed in the upgrade from 10.4.3 to 10.4.4.
The mouse cannot link automatically. I have that sometimes unplugging the D-Link adapter causes the mouse to automatically link. Also, toggling discoverable off->on->off causes the mouse to link. Also, using the keyboard first will cause auto linking, and the mouse follows.
Trashing preferences, or leaving "discoverable" in a particular state has no effect on the linking problem. Rather, a state change in "discoverable" seems to initiate linking. This may a caused by a coding bug at Apple, since nothing else has changed. Everything worked as expected under 10.4.3.
Hopefully Apple with fix this linking problem, and Logitech will market a 100% Apple compatible keyboard soon. Good gracious - their bluetooth keyboards are already 95% compatible - is the extra 5% that costly?
