Usb keyborad wont recognized

hi!
I having a problem with my imac g5 2.0g with 512mb ram
my Bluetooth keyboard broke on me so I used a windows usb one.
it worked absolutely fantastic on the osx,but when I rebooted the machine it just stoped to work!
is anyone have a solution?

The first item to consider, would be to try & locate a replacement
USB Keyboard, preferably an Apple model, a white plastic one...
These sometimes are available rather inexpensively at second
hand stores, on rarer occasion in a local craigslist or online ads.
Since the basic Apple USB (pro or standard) keyboard are my
mainstay even though BT would be supported by almost all of
the Macs present and accounted for, I have USB & backups.
Spares I'm always watchful for, because that's a first-line way
to troubleshoot a computer. A working keyboard. My spare is
as-new in the box it came with. Another new one is with the
original box an iMac G4 arrived in, new yet 10-years old.
Because several keyboard shortcuts are best handled without
question, and the windows model has the Start key instead of
the Command key (for a Mac, the correct ones are necessary)
there is less doubt.

Had you checked to see if a different USB port would work?
There are times when a connection fails in one port but the
one next to it in the computer can still function. Hardware can
be that way. Or a bad wire, etc, may be the cause of failure.
If a known-good computer is available, you may have already
tried the questionable keyboard (USB) with that to test it.
However, odd as it sounds, the keyboard is 'key' or first-base here.
Beyond that, other hardware may be to blame; the process of any
self-testing or use of utilities, system discs, bootable DVD software
all rely on accessing the computer via keyboard.
•How to use and troubleshoot FireWire target disk mode - Apple Support
With a second Mac computer, with both equipped with FireWire port
you could attempt to use FireWire Target Disk Mode, to test & check
the hard drive, in rarer situations, even more. Keyboard is essential.
Further troubleshooting is indicated, to attempt to tell if the computer
hardware (including hard disk drive, power supply, logic board) are
suspect; or if a software problem (including failing hard drive) could
be part of the greater picture. Try & find another USB keyboard.
Good luck & happy computing!

I need these Devices because they are my only network access via the Asix USB to Ethernet Adapter.
After the installation I have compiled and used the drives for the Asis adapter.
The both other devices are my USB Keyboard and Mouse.
    2. My other problem is, that after the update my resulution of my console is very weak, this is just bad but not a real problem, I can live with that.
Thanks in advance for helping me

  • USB device not recognized - Strange problem.

Alright, so as of this this morning out of the blue iTunes will not recognize my 120gb iPod classic. Whenever I try to unplug it and plug it back in I get a pop up error that says "usb device not recognized." I've spent the better part of today googling that phrase and trying everything from the basic 5 Rs, (except for Restore because my PC wont recognize the ipod) to reinstalling my motherboard drivers for the usb ports. Ive tried the iPod in every last USB port on my machine and I still get the same error message.
The weird part is, every other USB device I own works like a charm in every USB port on this same machine, including an old 60 gig iPod video I have. I plug that sucker in and it immediately gets recognized in iTunes. At this point, one would draw the conclusion that there is probably something wrong with the usb port on the iPod classic, however the iPod immediately connects to my laptop as well as my Xbox 360 with no issue. I should mention that I am running Windows 7 Release Canditate, and the iPod has been working fine on this OS for months.
I even went as far as doing a system restore to an older restore point thinking that it was perhaps a Windows update issue. This of course did not work.
There has to be some sort of issue with how that particular iPod communicates with this particular machine and I can't put my finger on it. Its driving me insane. Short of reinstalling Windows, I have no idea what to do from this point forward. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried uninstalling, then reinstalling iTunes (rebooting between the uninstall and reinstall)? Perhaps the issue is a corrupt file within iTunes.

  • USB Device Not Recognized

    Operating system:  Windows Vista
    Error:  USB Device not recognized
While actively on the computer, we suddenly got a message stating that the USB Device was not recognized.  The only thing plugged in to the USB port was a mouse.  Tried all the ports, same message.  Tried another mouse, same thing.  Tried a thumb drive, and low and behold, 2 of the 3 USB ports worked.  Tried a URL from MS which is supposed to help with this exact problem and possibly fix it:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Tips-for-solving-problems-with-USB-devices
    This didn't work.
Contacted HP support and they wanted me to restore back to a restore point as well as updating my BIOS.  After searching the issue more extensively using Google, I found that several people said to do this:
    Shut down the computer
    Remove the power plug
    Remove the battery
    Put the battery back in
Power up the computer (without the power plug)
    This forces a hard reset.
Almost as if by magic, the problem disappeared.  A much simpler and less technical solution to the problem than what HP recommended!!!!

  • TS1369 Hello! I have an Ipod Shuffle 2nd Generation and it is not recognized by my Windows 8 based laptop. An error message of 'USB device not recognized' is shown. I have the latest ITunes version installed, and tested the dock in other pc's.

    Hello!
I have a problem connecting my Ipod Shuffle 2nd generation to my Windows 8 based laptop. The computer doesn't recognize the Ipod and issues an error message saying 'USB device not recognized'. I tried uninstaling ITunes(latest version) and all other Apple software and reinstaling it back again, checked my USB hubs in the 'Device Manager' section of the Control Panel, you name it.
I could really use some help solving this.
I've turned to the troubleshooting section in Apple Support but it has nothing concerning situations in wich the device isn't even shown in the 'My Computer' folder.
Help a brother out, will you???

Found a solution in another forum http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-63733-ipod-not-detected-on-computer (a few posts down).
It was for an IPOD so you can see those details in the link.
Found how to reset a shuffle and inserted it into these instructions - did not have to follow his last steps.
    - Turn off computer.
    - Plug Shuffle into usb.
    - Then you must reset your shuffle
    To reset iPod shuffle:
Disconnect iPod shuffle from the computer (if connected).
Move the switch on the iPod shuffle to the OFF position. Note that when iPod shuffle is off, the green stripe by the switch is not visible
Disconnect iPod shuffle from the computer (if connected).
Move the switch on the iPod shuffle to the OFF position. Note that when iPod shuffle is off, the green stripe by the switch is not visible.
    - Start computer and it should install the usb driver for the ipod automatically.
    - Your i pod will say do not unplug so don't. then open itunes and it will be there.
I did not have to do these thing below – did not get error message and shuffle was displayed in Itunes. / LMc
Just remember to not only eject ipod from itunes but stop usb.
Go to the program icons near the clock and right click the usb icon and "safely remove hardware" will appear and click it.
Stop it and select "apple ipod".

  • USB Device Not Recognized issues

I have a Qosmio X505-Q860 and I've been getting the 'USB Device Not Recognized' error constantly for several months. I've never plugged anything into any of my USBs and the error is now causing a nice Blue Screen (which happened about 4 times yesterday within 1 hour). I've tried uninstalling the problem USB hub but it keeps telling me that it failed to uninstall (I'm on my administrator account when doing this). How in the world do I get rid of this so my computer stops crashing and driving me crazy!?
Edit: I should also mention that everything is up to date (I check often and checked just now).
"A stopped clock is still right twice a day."

I suggest trying another USB cable. If you are positive that your cable is not the issue then try resetting the iPod and booting into disk mode (Hold menu+select down until Apple logo appears. Then hold menu+play/pause down and the iPod will go into disk mode, see if the computer recognizes it then. If that works then their is either a software issue on the computer or a firmware issue. Worth trying to restore but backup all your iPod's files first!

  • "USB Device Not Recognized" Bubble/ Ipod won't connect to Windows

Whenever i connect my ipod to my computer the ipod goes to "do not disconnect" and a bubble pops up on my computer saying "USB DEvice Not Recognized" i have switched it to all of my usb ports and unplugged all usbs except for my mouse at the same time. this happens 95% of the time. my ipod does charge while connected and it has only connected to itunes once in the past 2 weeks. im not sure if it is itunes because it started around the time i updated to itunes 7. since it is a windows bubble though i think it is a windows or ipod problem and not itunes. i have a dell that isnt great but works fine.
    thanks for any help.
    ... Go TTU!

Make that two idiots. My roommate got a Sansa and I decided to try out the cable. Nothing happened. Now suddenly my nano isn't recognized by my computer. I'm glad I read your post, now I can stop looking high and low for a solution. Until this happened it worked good as new.

  • "USB device not recognized" when ipod plugged in???

    (ipod mini 4gb)
When I plug my ipod into my laptop I get the message: "USB device not recognized." It says the device has malfunctioned!!! If I click on this error message it says my ipod is an unknown device and no drivers are installed for it???
It was working fine until a few days ago. If i reset it I can charge it up but that's all, it still does not appear in itunes or on my computer.
I've tried eveything on the help website but nothing works! Can anyone help?!
    patriot 3050   Windows XP

ok my question is do you have a mac or windows based laptop
here is why and what happened to my ipod mini
my ipod mini was connected to my macintosh charging while i was using my imac and it came up with a system update 10.4.3 i installed it and finished installing it and afterwards my apple wouldn't recongnize my ipod mini or even display it one the screen i found out by myself that when the apple update got to the end of the update it installed new hard drive drivers but also installed the drivers on the ipod mini which locked out the mini's internal hard drive and my mini then stop responding it would play music and charge but wouldn't connect to the computer
so what i did to fix it was this
i went into utilites in mac os x tiger or any version of os x has this and selected disk utility you will notice that the ipod will appesr in disk utility but not on the desktop this is due to a recent system update driver that isn't compatible with the internal drive on the ipod mini so in disk utility just select format the drive in a mac os partition standard works the best it will then format the ipod and the ipod will apear in the desktop again but not as a ipod let me explain when you format the ipod using the disk utility it formats and even erases the firmware of of the hard drive on the mini so when you are done formating the ipod run the ipod updater to reinstall the ipod's operating system and presto your ipod will now work again
warning: i don't know how to fix this on a ipod in windows so if this is a windows based laptop you need to find someone witha macintosh to do this with sorry

  • USB Device Not Recognized (&IPOD WILL NOT TURN ON)

I have had an iPod Shuffle G2 for 6 months now with no problems until today.
It went flat when I was at my friends place so when I got back to my mums I plugged it into my laptop and it told me "USB Device Not Recognized One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it" I thought there was just a prob with that port in my laptop, so I put it in the other one. I will try to disable virus protection. but I will have to enable virus protection again. what should i do?

This did not work for me. I have a laptop that was running Windows XP, and it had no problems recognizing the iPod. I was having problems with XP, and rather then reinstall XP, I did a clean install of Vista. I did a settings transfer, so the new install of iTunes came already configured--I mention this since I don't know if it was a factor.
When I plugged in the iPod, I got the USB Device Not Recognized. The usbstor.inf file did not fix the problem. However, the solution at http://www.winvistabeta.com/groups/275128/ipod-usb-device-not-recognized/message .aspx did fix the problem. Do this:
    Reset the iPod:
    1. Unplug the iPod.
    2. Turn the hold switch to HOLD and then back to off.
    3. Hold the Center and Menu buttons for 6 seconds until you get the Apple logo when you release them.
    4. Plug in the iPod. It should now be recognized.
This worked fine for me the first time. Thanks! Jack
