Usb km2m Win 98se

I don't know if anyone is still using Win 98se on a km2m.  But I got my usb key working on this combination the other day for the first time ever.  I'm not sure why it worked this time, having refused countless times in the past.  But I can recount the context.
I happened to insert the key just after doing a hotsync to a Palm Zire.  (Which also happens to have problems, associated or not with usb I don't know.)  There were, I realised later, two instances of Palm's hotsync in memory - it had crashed twice during operation.
Windows installed the usb drivers (which I had uninstalled as of no use) and, miracle, a 2-click on the icon showed the files on the thumb drive, no problem.
Since then, it's worked normally, without hotsync.  But there's a pair of fingers crossed ..

Thanks for the replies.

Done that, umpteen times
> Tell me the specific problem you have with the Palm Zire and I can maybe help with this.
Hotsync doesn't work when launched from the zire, only from the pc.

Yes, I've downloaded drivers from msi, from the usb key maker, I've cleaned up in safe mode ..  countless times.
The point is that it's working now.  No problem.

  • MSI KT3 Ultra 2/Win 98SE/ USB Root Hub

Please, could someone help me to understand if I have the correct installation of drivers for USB
    for Win 98SE?
Having installed the USB 2.0 driver from the M/B disk
Under Device Manger > Universal Serial Bus Controller,
    I have the following entries:
    1x USB 2.0 Root Hub
    3x USB Root Hub
1x Via PCI to USB enhanced Host Controller
3x Via Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
My M/B Bios version is 5.5 and I have enabled all USB ports (6) in the Bios.

    Hi,
You don't need to connect USBOC....
As for the other pins, you have to rewire them....
Take an Ohm-meter and measure them against a normal USB connector.....
Don't connect it just like that......

  • Dual Boot,XP Pro Ok but Win 98SE cannot boot

I have a dual boot system, with 2 primary partitions, and bootmagic installed.  My boot disk is on raid 0 on the raptor drives.
Installed Win 98SE first, than created second primary partition, installed win xp pro.  Installed bootmagic on 1st primary partition, so can dual boot.
XP installed and running without any problem.  XP runs fine with either ACPI enabled or disabled.
For Win 98 SE, with ACPI disabled, with USB enabled, system hangs while booting up.  If I disable USB, I can boot to win 98 SE.  During initial install, the first drivers for my board was the Intel INF.  I suspected the board and brought the board to local tech support.  They showed me that they could install win 98 SE without any problem.  Board, cpu, hsf and rams were the mine.  They used a single hard disk and a single CD Rom.  Therefore, cannot RMA board.
I am suspecting that because I am using the Promise and Intel Raid, more irqs had to be shared and XP Pro could handle that but Windows 98 SE cannot handle that.  I only have three add on boards, the Storm 2 DV editing card, ATI AGP graphics card and a V.92 modem card.  Nothing else.  I tried to do some fiddling in the bios for the IRQs but does not help.  The only way to boot into Win 98 SE was to disable USB.
Could someone give me some pointers on what I could try out further?
    Thank you.

I had rewritten the information regarding my problem and added in more detail and sent it out to MSI.  Hopefully, they will respond (quite unlikely) .  Here's it:
I have a dual boot system, with 2 primary partitions, and bootmagic installed. My boot disk is on raid 0 on the raptor drives.
Installed Win 98 SE first, than created second primary partition, installed win xp pro. Installed bootmagic on 1st primary partition, so can dual boot.
XP installed and running without any problem. XP runs fine with either APIC enabled or disabled.
For Win 98 SE, with APIC disabled, with USB enabled, system hangs while booting up. If I disable USB, I can boot to win 98 SE but my Intel Gigabit Ethernet will have an exclamation mark.  Getting newer drivers and Intel INF did not help.
I decided to disable the Intel Gigabit Ethernet in Win 98 SE.  After that, I looked into the properties and realized that some memory allocated for the Intel Gigabit Ethernet are being used by other system resources.  If I disable Serial Comm Port 2 and enable USB in bios, I can boot into windows and drivers detection for USB will proceed until it gets to “ Intel ® 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller – 24D7 “ and hangs my system.  I cannot check if the problem is caused by IRQs or Memory allocation.
I am suspecting that because I am using the Promise and Intel Raid, more irqs had to be shared, memory allocations were more demanding and XP Pro could handle that but Windows 98 SE cannot handle that.  When I try to do some tweaking in Windows 98 SE properties for the Intel Gigabit Ethernet, I was prompted that I cannot make changes.  I guess the board, at bios level, fixed all the irq and memory allocations and so Windows 98 SE cannot make any changes.
Anyone can advise what I can do within the bios so that I can do further tweaking on memory resources allocation?  I know that I can do something on IRQ and DMA but seems nothing can be done for memory allocation.
Hope one of you have some helpful information.

  • Firmware version 8.00.2 for WRT54G on a Win 98SE system

I tried to download the 8.00.2 firmware for the WRT54G on my Win 98SE computer, which is hardwired into the router. I had the laptops with Win XE or with Mac op sys shut down so they would not access the router. I downloaded a file with the extension *.bin. Neither WinZip mor PKZip could expand that file. When I double-clicked the file,  I got asked what program to use to open the file. Please advise on how to use the downloaded file on a Win 98SE system.
Also, when I tried to download the users manual and the info sheet for this router, I got a blank screen. I'd love to see these.
    Thanks for any help.

To upgrade a routers firmware, open up Internet Explorer 1st, then on the address bar, type the numbers 192.168.1.1 (username just leave it blank, password as a default is admin). Then go to the Administration tab, go to firmware upgrade, browse, and select the file that you downloaded (the one w/ the .bin extension).

  • Win 98SE Startup Logon Problem

All our Win 98SE had the startup logon problem when we migrated to Cisco 1240AP. Previously, we don't had this problem when we are still using the SMC AP.
When we want to login to windows 2000 Domain during startup, the system will complain that it can't find a DC and we had to click ok to proceed. Once login, we can see that it can detect the AP with good signal strength. Then we need to logoff and then only we can login to the Domain without any problem.
But when we restart the system to login to the Domain again, the same problem occurs. Only when you click ok to login without network and then logoff again to login without restart the system, then the PC can find the Domain and login without problem. All our PCs are using the static IP assignment with DNS and WINS configure.
We are currently using the DLink client wireless adapter and we had try to change to Belkin client wireless adapter with more recent Win98 driver but with the same problem.
Our Window XP don't had this issue. As i had said, previously when we are using a SMC AP, we don't had this problem.
Anyone here had the same problem that had a solution ?
    Thanks.
    CMYip

Yes. The solution was to upgrade to upgrade the customer's laptops to WinXP.
(Drive mappings were also a related issue).

  • FF4 sort of works in Win 98SE via Kernel Ex but slow and lacks features

I had last version of FF2 working fine with Win 98SE but could not access features using java, Flash, etc.; I installed Kernel EX and FF4, after which it seems to work but is slow as molasses...takes more than a minute to load home page or other link, after which it won't scroll for 10 to 30 seconds. There is no history or bookmarks and the back/forward buttons do not work consistently.
It works well enough to be promising, but frustrating; is there any hope? Perhaps missing system files from Win XP? Any help greatly appreciated...I really like Firefox!

Sorry, your operating system has been officially obsolete since July 11, 2006. It's likely that websites require more recent versions of Flash Player and Java than you can run.
    * [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406791.html Flash Player 9 for older operating systems]
    * [http://java.com/en/download/faq/other_jreversions.xml Where can I get older versions of Java and related documentation?]
You can try starting Firefox in a new profile and see if that helps any. But it's likely that these problems are caused by running Firefox on an unsupported operating system with the aid of third-party software. Having an overclocked CPU doesn't help matters either.
    * [[Managing profiles]]
If things aren't any better in a new profile, you can try Firefox 3.6.28 instead. This version is now obsolete and insecure, but that seems a bit of a moot point in your case.

If you're unable to upgrade your hardware, you may want to consider switching from Windows to Linux. You would have the benefit of an up-to-date and secure operating system, browser and plug-ins at no cost.

  • Moderate success w/Win 98SE

It has now been a few months of jacking around with my @nywhere Master, and I'm almost happy with the results. I finally have it running crash and error free!
I'm posting to possibly help others, especially Win 98SE users.
What a ride! Numerous installs, much time searching this forum. This card is like a plague around the world. I never gave up because I didn't want to invest in another, and I'm hopeful that one day we'll all have an incredible program to run it.
I will tell you that this is a nice tuner, proven daily by the 10 foot high-quality picture it shows on my wall.
The different installs each provided different results, even including the dreaded "Taliban Attack", where the settings always revert  back to Antenna in Aphganistan. ("Taliban Attack" is a quote from another user in this forum awhile ago).
     Here's how I have it working now;
Latest Detonator drivers for my MSI FX-5200 128TDR, for which I always lose my Stereo viewing capabilities. Oh well, maybe someday I'll find the right drivers to play games with my 3-D glasses again.
Latest TV Tuner drivers from MSI website, 8606 v.2.79.1.65.
MSIPVS, old, from bundled disc, filename version 6,02,100,1247.
After the MSIPVS software installed, the radio tuner driver was automatically installed from the disc. I haven't tried the radio, it probably works.
NO Winproducer, Wincoder! That disc is trash, I think.
So now when I click on the MSIPVS icon, it fires right up with no problems. All channels are in stereo,(finally, the settings stay!), records the way it should,(WOW!), and plays back without incident. Takes good snapshots, too. I haven't tried the aud/vid capture yet, I'm hopeful.
The downside is that I've NEVER seen the remote work, nor the one that came with the FX-5200. Maybe someday, but for now I use a Gyration cordless keyboard and mouse for channels, volume, brightness, etc., in my home theater.
I hope this may help, I can elaborate more if requested. Good Luck!!

I slotted in my old kit:

    56k Modem
    Floppy
    CDROM
    40MB HDD with Win98SE + my old s/w
It all boots to Windows okay and starts to install new hardware.  When it gets to the Universal Serial Bus, it just crashes!
I tried disabling it in the BIOS to see if it would get any further, but it still crashes at the same point, but instead it says - Unknown device - not Universal Serial Bus?!?!
    Please help!   ?

    Thanks for the help.
I'm going to format the C Drive.
My HDD has 4 partitions - C has the O/S + a few other apps.  D, E, F drive all have my games on it.
Will I need to reinstall ALL of my games after reinstalling Windows??  Should I export the registry from the current settings to import back on the newly installed O/S.
Plus, at what point will I have to install the 4in1 drivers?
    Thanks!!

  • MS-6367 USB and Win 2000 drivers

Hi, can someone point me in the right direction here.
I have an NEC Powermate XL4 which has an MS-6367 (MSI) NOVA motherboard. I bought it with Win XP Home and the original NEC CD which contains XP drivers.
I recently installed Windows 2000 Professional and loaded the nforce drivers from the Nvidia website which seems to have installed OK. I'm having problems with a USB2 pci card as the external hard drive attached to it seems to be losing power (although it has an external power source) when transferring large files. It seems to work ok on the inbuilt USB1 ports though.
I'm wondering if there is a problem with USB in general on this PC, as it seems to be using standard Win 2000 USB drivers -I can't seem to locate Win 2000 drivers for this motherboard. I'm a bit confused with the USB information in device manager. I have the following listed:
Standard OpenHCD PCI to USB Host Controller
Standard OpenHCD PCI to USB Host Controller
    USB 2.0 Root Hub
    USB Root Hub
    USB Root Hub
    USB Root Hub
    USB Root Hub
VIA PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller
    VIA USB Universal Host Controller
    VIA USB Universal Host Controller
This is how it looks with 4 inbuilt USB ports and the PCI Card which has 3 external and 1 internal USB2 ports (an Innovision DM8007). Does this look correct?
    Thanks
    Dan

    Thanks,
Sorry, I meant to say is that I could not find any Win 2000 drivers for the motherboard and that the Nvidia drivers were all I could find and install which seem to only relate to the video, sound and onboard network controller.
The USB card does come with drivers, but I was thinking that there maybe something wrong with the way the motherboard is operating and that maybe I'm missing specific Win2k drivers for this particular motherboard.
I'm about to test a newer driver for the PCI card to see if that sorts it out.
    Thanks
    Dan

  • MSI TI-4200 Win 98SE Rebooting

I needed to create a Window 98SE disk so I can play some of my games that don't work on XP Pro.  I have used the latest drivers, but after I installed the drivers for the card, the PC reboots and goes into safe mode.  On my XP drive, it all works great.  How can I find out what the problem is?  How can I fix this so I can get to playing my games again?
    Thanks, Dean.
    FYI ...
    nVidia 45.23 drivers
Intel 845PESV board with Pentium 4 3.06 Mhz
    1 GB ram
    WD 80GB hard drive

Ok, my current confuguration is as follows:
    Intel DE845PESV motherboard
    Intel Pentium 4 3.06 Mhz(533 FSB)
1 GB of Kingston 133mhz DDR ram
    MSI TI-4200 Geforce 4 128mb graphic card
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card
    Compaq DVD-117 DVD drive
    Liteon LTR-48246s CDR-W drive
    Sony Floppy drive
    Windows 98 SE
    Promise Ultra ATA-133 (Tx2)
After some additional research, I believe the problem is with the nVidia drivers.  I removed the drivers and had Windows configure the card as a standard VGA display card. Then everything boots OK, but only 16 colors.  As soon as I install any version (I tried 40.71, 44.03 and 45.23) of the nVidia drivers, the PC re-boots with a problem loading ndis2sup.vxd.  I don't know where to go from here.
The games I want to play are Mechwarrior 2 Titanium additon and Mechwarrior 3. I have tried many configurations in XP but no good.  So I figure a drive with Windows 98SE will do the trick.  I have everything loaded except the graphics card.
Is there any more info you need to help me?

  • KM2M + WIN XP sound stops working after a few minutes

as in subject i have a KM2M COMBO-L (MS 6738) MoBo with athlon xp 2000+ and 128 MB spectek PC2100.
The problem is that the sound stops working after some minutes of use.
It's the same problem in all the 10 PCs of my webcafe

KM2M uses the Realtek ALC650 CODEC.  Are you using the VIA Audio driver or Realtek?  It should say under audio properties.
    I recommend the Realtek drivers.
Of course, if you are already using the Realtek, then I recommend the VIA drivers.
    Pretty insightful, eh?

  • Win 98SE VNC 10.3.9

ok - I've done many searches on this and just can't seem to find the right answer. I got a wireless router lastnight and have my mac running 10.3.9 hardwired to the router. My wifes laptop is running Win98SE and I'm trying to control the mac via the PC behind the same router. It's gotta be easy but I can't figure it out for the life of me!!!
I've got the VNC client on the PC and my Panther's built in VNC server running. Port 5900 is forwarded on the router. When I put in the mac's ip address (the one the router assigned) into the VNC client on the windows machine I get a black screen - I noticed it controls the macs mouse but can't see the screen (just blank).
I'm alos trying to figure out how to share the USB printer that's hooked up to the mac. - But that's another topic...
Thanks in advance! - Learning's fun but frustrating
