USB Microphone help

I have a Blue Snowball Mic that I can't get to work with Logic Express (and I want to think it worked before). It works wonderfully in Garageband. I plug it in and then go to Audio Preferences, and the mic doesn't show up. The only devices that show up are Built-In Microphone and Built-in input. Please help as I don't get a good sound out of the built-in mic.
Thanks,

  • USb Microphone Help - clicking so

About two months ago I purchased a USB Logitech desktop microphone (as seen here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E683660). It worked fine up to two days ago... Now, everything it records gets overlayed with a persistent clicking sound.
I saw another user post a similar problem, but for a non-USB microphone, hence my separate post as USB takes the sound card out of the equation. Just for kicks though, I'm using a SB X-Fi. I have tried muting the input options on that, but don't see how that could conflict as the USB microphone installs itself as AK#### and that is what is selected as the recording device.
    Anyone have any idea?
    Thanks in advance!

Info for headphones (in case that is what you were referring to).
If your iPod headphones aren't working, try connecting them to your computer's audio output or another audio device that has a 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack. If the issue persists, use the form below to order replacement iPod headphones.

  • Help Routing USB Microphones

I'm trying to use a USB mic with Logic Express.
To do this I believe the Channel on "Audio MIDI Setup.app" for my mic should be activated as "Channel 1" for LogicEx to recognise it as "Input 1" on it's I/O channel strip.
Is this mad belief correct? If so, how do I change the Channel on "Audio MIDI setup.app" from "Master" to "1"?
    Hope I'm clear,
    Cheers,
    DariusC

Here you can see the screenshot of "Audio MIDI Setup" with the USB microphone:*
    http://img.skitch.com/20091105-bu87st5mucfri9qtkf9a4mpddd.jpg*
If you look to the bottom right of the picture, you will see a table with columns headed "Ch", "Volume", "Value", "dB"...
Now, if you look at the channels, the master channel is activated, leaving channel 1 grayed out.
Here is the built-in microphone with channels 1&2 activated.
    http://img.skitch.com/20091105-rwhdir47yq2yy78h6wgai5ki8b.jpg
Like the built-in mic, I want to use channel 1 or 2 for the USB mic.
The problem is, I can't find a way to activate channel 1 for the USB mic.

  • Help with USB Microphone Issues

Checked the support area about USB Mics but am still having trouble.
I am running Soundbooth stand alone, on my Mac Book..Leopard OS. I have a Samson Co3U USB microphone with a Samson Soft PreAmp loaded. I am switching over from Garageband to Soundbooth. I have actually used Soundbooth once and it worked fine..until this week. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong now. Probably need lessons. The Midi set up is set to System default Input/Output which is actually set to the Samson mic, but when I record, all I get is a very muffled audio. I know its not the mic because it still works great on my other MacBook in Garageband.
I also wonder whether Soundbooth is just not compatible with Garageband on the same Mac.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Heather

    Hi Heather,
Soundbooth and GarageBand can exist side-by-side with no troubles. In fact, many GarageBand users use Soundbooth to edit their loops and clips, and to clean up and trim their GB projects.
The Samson USB mics are very nice and should work well with Soundbooth. Along with the Blue microphones, the Samson series are the other higher-end USB microphones that I use for testing.
As a quick test, and to make certain we don't affect any other applications, let's try making a customized Aggregate Audio device for Soundbooth using the Samson mic.
    * Close Soundbooth. Open Finder and click Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup.
    * Click the AUDIO DEVICES button at the top then in the menu bar select Audio > Open Aggregate Device Editor
    * Click the [+] button to create a new aggregate device. Name it SOUNDBOOTH DEVICE and select the Built-in Output and Samson C03U devices from the bottom list. Click Done and close the Audio MIDI setup tool.
    * Launch Soundbooth, then open Preferences > Audio Hardware. Change the Default Device dropdown to the new SOUNDBOOTH DEVICE we created, then click OK.
    * Try recording!
This driver setup should force Soundbooth to use the Samson device for input, and nothing else. IF you still experience the muffled audio or other recording problems, please reply with more information and we can continue troubleshooting.
    Thanks,
    Durin

  • Logitech USB microphone does not work with OS 10.4.11

My logitech USB microphone was working fine, at one time. Now it does not function. In the sound prefs setup, it shows a level reading, as if it is hearing the input, but there is no output. I have tried every setting I could find in Audio Midi Setup as well, and nothing seems to work, and the "thru" option is not available. Can somebody help me here?

  • Using USB Microphone With GarageBand iPad?

Hi, I have the Samson G-Track USB Microphone and have been using it with GarageBand for iPad (with a powered USB hub) and I was wondering if there is a way to enable "Monitor" so that when I speak into the microphone I can hear myself in the headphones? I have no problem recording with the microphone, I just can't hear myself when I'm recording. There are a few switches on the actual microphone that could control this or it could all be controlled from iPad itself, just looking for anyone who could help with this matter. Thanks!

I'm having the same problem trying to monitor my turntable recording via a USB phono amp connected via a USB hub to the photo connection kit.
Have you had any help with this yet?

  • Captivate doesn't recognize my USB microphone

    Hi there,
I'm using Vista (32) with Captivate CS4. I have USB microphone (Sennheiser PC-166) that works beautifully with other applications, but I can't get Captivate to recognize it. When I configure settings...Captivate hears my default PC microphone, but is stone deaf when it comes to the USB mic. I've reinstalled Captivate. I've downloaded updates. But nothing works. Any ideas?

  • Cannot hear USB microphone in headphone

I'm using the Logitech USB microphone which works fine for Skype and quicktime recordings. The problem is that I cannot hear the microphone in my headphones which makes it difficult to monitor the recording. The input volume level is working in System Prefs but I cannot hear the sound from the microphone. I also cannot record my side of Skype conversations with Wire Tap Pro since I cannot hear the audio from the USB microphone on the iMac. Any ideas?

  • IBook G4 - Seeking Compatible USB Microphone

Both of our iBook G4 (1.33 and 1.42 GHz) computers have dead internal microphones (located on right side of LCD panel). I'm hesitant to take the time to replace them, due to risk of damage to other components. As many of you know, there is no audio input jack on the iBook G4; only audio output.
We've been looking at various external USB microphones that are totally encapsulated within the USB stick. We found one out there that could do the job, but we are wondering if there is something else out there that could serve as another option. All we want to be able to do is set up audio for Skype on the 1.33 GHz machine, for now.
We believe that the USB ports are USB 1.0 and are not powered (i.e., 2.0) but could be wrong.
    Advice would be greatly appreciated.
Here's the link to the only compact USB microphone stick we were able to find, by the Sound Professionals:

    Thanks in advance!

I am pretty sure that the USB ports on your computer would be 2.0, but I think you can test this. Try plugging in a USB storage device (Made fairly recently). Then go to the Apple Menu, and click About This Mac. Then click More Info. When System profiler opens, click down the Triangle next to hardware and select USB. You probably have 2.0 if under the device you plugged in it says up to 480mbs per second. You should have USB 2.0, because my iBook G4 is older than yours and it has USB 2.
For Skype, I would think that any microphone for Mac OS X should work. Not sure, but it would be my best guess.
    Hope that at least helped!

  • Samson C03U USB Microphone

For some reason, my USB microphone is not being recognized by Logic Express...I had it working before but now nothing? The only options I see under my Core Audio prefs are Internal Microphone and Line-In? Any ideas why the mic isn't working now even when record-enabling a track?
It seems to have disappeared after I changed the Core Audio settings.....I've changed them back and now the USB Audio Device won't disappear?
The strange thing is, it DOES work in GarageBand, and any other audio app I attempt to record audio with using the USB microphone, it works in everything except Logic Express...
Note: i've also tried installing a copy of Logic Express on my PPC Mac Mini G4, and the same thing happens - it works once, then if I change a setting in Core Audio, I only see the 2 options, not the Samson USB Device....
    HELP!

You need to get it recognized in Audio/MIDI set up, and create an aggregate device.
    This thread explains how:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2094732&#2094732
It seems to have disappeared after I changed the Core Audio setting
You may have changed the previously selected driver - that would do it.

  • I can't get premiere elements 11 to see my usb microphone?

Hi I need help! I can't do narration as my program is not seeing my mic.  Any suggestions?

    softhackle2
USB microphones are typically not supported by Premiere Elements (any version).
A recent thread here on Premiere Elements and USB microphone.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5292426
If you have access to a microphone which connects via a computer jack, please use that for your narrations from within Premiere Elements.
Do you have the same issue if you create your narrations in the free audio editor Audacity and then import those narrations into the Premiere Elements project with its Add Media/Files and Folder to get it into Project Assets and from there to the Narration Track (Expert view)?

  • Bought AKG 120 USB microphone - Picks up to much background noise

How can I reduce the hum? I bought the AKG 120 USB microphone for voiceover. I used a Seinnheiser ew100 G3 before - which worked okay. But I guess a condenser microphone is even more powerful and picks up more of what I did not want. When I compare the recordings the Seinnheiser is deeper and the AKG 120 picks up more hum and background noise.
Is there a software that can help me adjust the AKG 120? Right now it is picking up to much noise.

    Hi Lillian83,
Final Cut Pro X has the ability to analyze audio for hum during import and while editing.
The relevant sections of the manual below will show you how:

Final Cut Pro provides automatic analysis options that can fix common audio problems, analyze and group audio channels, and remove silent channels. You can analyze audio during import, or analyze video clips with audio issues in the Event Browser or in the Timeline.
Analyze and fix audio problems: Analyzes the audio for hum, noise, and loudness. Final Cut Pro automatically fixes problems that are considered severe (marked in red) and flags problems that are considered moderate (marked in yellow). For more information, see Enhance audio on page 199.

    • In the Audio inspector, click the Audio Enhancements Inspector button next to Audio

  • USB microphone not working with AudioPublisher

    Hi,
I have a voice chat feature in my application, in which I use AudioPublisher and AudioSubscriber.
The code is almost identical to the Audio.mxml example coming with the SDK.
I have a 'start voice chat' button that starts voice chat.
The problem I'm having is that a Macbook's built-in microphone works fine,
while an external USB microphone doesn't.
I selected the correct Microphone from the drop-down menu in the 'Adobe Flash Player Settings',
and the record volume bar also properly shows a non-mute green bar.
The headset I'm using is MX500i from Plantronics.
I don't think there's any problem with my code considering that it works perfectly with Macbook's microphone.
It'd be great if anyone has a solution to the problem I have.
    Thanks,
    Juho

I had the same problem. You need to check the device index of your USB mic.
In my case. I'm on a Mac OSX 10.6 system. I had four devices cataloged. With the last one being the USB mic.
    Then set like so in your AS code audioPub.microphoneManager.micIndex = 3;
Remember, that the indexing is 0 based.
The sound framework make the assumption that the index is 0.
    Hope that helps.

  • I bought a Samson R10S microphone to use in garageband on my imac, and i can't seem to get it to record through the microphone, help?

Need help recording on Garageband with a mic I bought.

How are you connecting the mic to your iMac?
Is it a USB microphone or does it need an audio port? The newer iMacs don't have a line-in port, so you'll need an audio interface to turn a USB port into an audio port, eg., the iMic as the most simple solution:
