USB MIDI controller no longer recognized by mac (not even in System Information).

Hello!
I have an M-Audio Keystation 49e that I have been using with my MBP (early 2008 model) for a few years with absolutely zero problems ever. I recently bought a very generic Chinese MIDI interface ("Sanoxy" brand) to go between my full-size Yamaha and mac so that performances of parts into logic would be on weighted keys and such.
For a while I used both the MIDI interface with the Yamaha and the little 49-key MIDI controller (via USB and also powered by the USB) with no problems. I believe this problem occurred when I tried to use both the MIDI interface and MIDI controller on one USB port using a Targus external number pad (unpowered) that has two USB ports on it (bad idea I'm sure). I did this because my MBP only has two USB ports on it and I was using the other for my audio interface.
I have reset PRAM more than a couple times, reset SMC, cleaned caches (even though this could be done more thouroughly maybe with a recommended program besides Cocktail - trial is expired), even replaced AppleMIDIUSBDriver.plugin from my parents iMac which the MIDI controller still works on. All this and nothing. The keyboard is not recognized as even being plugged into the USB port on System Information even though the lights are on, much less AMS.
Any other information you need I'd be happy to let you know.
Super thanks!
Cody

  • USB MIDI Controller no longer working after Logic 8 upgrade

Hello, my M-Audio O2 USB MIDI Controller worked brilliantly with Logic Pro 7 after simply plugging it in. I never needed to install any drivers or do any setup. Now, after upgrading to Logic Pro 8 it isn't recognized and does not work. Does anyone know what's going on and can anyone please give me some advice on how to fix this problem? Thanks

Go to Logic-Pro beside the Apple Logo at the top of your screen to the Left,
    then Preference,
    then scroll to Control-Surface settings,
    now select set-up
From there delete and then reinstall your control-Surface, do it manually as the Scan doesn't work all the time,

Req any examples of how to use a USB midi controller/keyboards with Labview TIA

    Hi,
To access the MIDI ports you will need to call the Windows SDK. To send MIDI commands is relatively easy, here is an example that shows you how to send data to a MIDI controller or keyboard.
As far as input goes, this is the hard part. There are a series of functions that you need to call to open up the device, set some buffers and and possibly a callback to get notifications on the incoming data.
Reading MIDI data will not be an easy task, your best bet will be to implement this in a DLL and call that DLL in LabVIEW, there should be some code available o the web.
= "http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/multimed/htm/_win32_multimedia_... is a link to the Windows multimedia functions that you could use for MIDI input.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

  • USB MIDI CONTROLLER- LOGIC PRO 7- I CAN SEE THE LIGHTS BUT NO SOUND OUT?

I just got logic pro 7.2 so i am very green, garage band automatically recognizes the usb midi controller and i can hear it,
in logic it recognizes it i can see the lights for sound levels but no sound is coming out, ive been trying to figure this out.

Heck, if loneliness is your thing... more power to ya!
now why cant i hear the midi
MIDI doesn't make a sound. You either need to assign a software instument to it or use an external device, all depending on the track you chose. If you, perhaps elaborate a little more as to what you did (typing with your caps lock released), there's a better chance of getting your problem solved. If you're hearing your recorded guitar, then there's a chance you selected the wrong type of track to record to as far as MIDI tracks go (there is a difference in Logic).

Do you have a wired USB mouse to try?
It seems to me that the drivers from the WIFI mouse is not of the correct version for the OS you are running on.
You may want to google for the correct drivers as well.
I have tried a wired usb mouse and that wont work either :(
There are only 1 set of drivers for the wifi mouse I have, checked on the manufactures website and the driver version is the exact same one as I have on disk. The mouse worked on my other pc with the exact OS
A ps2 wireless mouse works but that mouse has no range :(

Hi - I hope this helps. The problem may be hardware related in which case I can't help, but if not, try this.
Right click and delete both of the yellow mouse HID drivers in device manager. Then do a normal shutdown and Restart with the keyboard using Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up Windows Task Manager.
This should force the system to reinstall drivers when it next boots.
You may find that a simple Scan for Hardware Changes also works after you have deleted the yellow drivers.
Another trick is to try the mouse in other USB ports - sometimes the system just gets confused and sets the device to a particular port. If it is put in another port it often can't find the device.
    Good Luck
I have tried the wireless mouse in every usb port, also uninstalling them in device manager - all had no effect :(

My problem is after updating to Yosemite does my mail client any longer. I can not even open the mail, and when I "forced closes" mail and try to open it again to go in the entered settings running the colored wheels around and allows me only to forcing close again? does anyone have a solution to the above problem?

You mean the default OS X mail app? Try reinstalling OS X Yosemite if that's the case.
If you are referring to 3rd party mail applications, that's a compatibility issue. Some apps don't work in the new operating system. You have to wait until the developer updates the app, or you have to revert back to Mavericks to continue using it.

  • USB Midi Controller not recognized by Mac?

    hey there
I have just attempted to plug in my trusty Edirol PCR300 to my mac for the first time. It currently works on my PC
I installed the 2.0.0 driver as per instructions on Edirol website, rebooted, plugged in and turned on the device.
The device is recognized in the system profiler (about this mac etc etc Hardware > USB) however it is nowhere to be found on the midi page of the Audio Midi Utility. One would expect it to turn up here when i press Rescan Midi.... and needless to see it's not turning up in Logic and nor is it an input option on the PCR Editor software.
Obviously i've tried turning it off and back on etc etc.
Running the latest Lion, latest Logic and latest Edirol driver on a Macbook Pro i7 with 8GB RAM.
Any help would be appreciated, i've been trying to get this working for 4 hours now!

    Hi Guys
I have a PCR connected up here, running OSX.7.3, it works fine:
It does need drivers, as discussed in my earlier post.
The OP's issue is probably down to incorrect driver installation, or possible some conflict with other MIDI drivers. If the OP has not solved the problem, I suggest using the Edirol driver removal software, and then re-installing the drivers.
(Always assuming that the keyboard does work OK on another computer, and that the cable is OK).

  • Help with usb Midi controller on brand new machine! Please!!

I just unboxed my macbook pro 13" non-retina and updated to 10.9.1, installed a few of my apps, etc.    I'm having a meltdown over my midi-controller not being recognized. It is a Roland A-49 USB Midi Keyboard controller that is not powering on. It runs off bus power just fine in my older 15" MBP and also from my '12 Mac Mini. When I pull up the system profiler, under USB it reads to me:
How can I get this working properly?

Hi there, been a viewer of the discussions here for a while & felt compelled to finally sign up to hopefully offer some help with this problem as I had exactly the same when I first got Logic Pro.
The problem is more to do with the sound setup than the controller keyboard as logic is sensing midi data as you have seen in the transport.
I would suggest firstly (Hopefully Pro & Express are the same in these respects) clicking on the Logic Express tab in the top left, then Preferences, then Audio.
In the box that appears select the Drivers tab. Then make sure that the Core Audio check box is ticked. Under that make sure that you output source is selected (ie your interface if using monitors, or built in Audio if not)
    Hopefully this should help.
The simplest to test your sound is by clicking on the Audio tab (3rd or 4th along at top) & opening the Loop Browser, choosing a catagory & draging a sound onto a track.
Remember to click on the track you will be dragging onto to select it & in the Loop Browser Blue loops go onto audio tracks & green onto instrument tracks.
Now with testing the controler keyboard...
Click on an instrument channel, then goto the bottom left of the screen where you will see that channels fader.
Above the fader click on the I/O (you may have to click & hold here) choose either mono or stereo, then choose say the EXS24 & try you keyboard.
Hit * on the numeric keypad & play something, then hit space to stop & you will have your 1st region.
I hope this helps with you problem, Logic can be confusing at times but is worth sticking with.
    Good luck

  • USB Midi Controller

    Hey,
I'm running Mac OSX 10.6.4 with Garageband 09 and Logic Pro.
I've been trying to figure out how to use my Casio Privia keyboard as a Midi controller in Garageband through USB, and can't seem to figure it out. I used it as a Midi controller (through USB) on my laptop and know it's compatible with Garageband, but no matter what Casio Midi Driver I download GB doesn't even pick it up.
I know there is a way to do it, I'm just struggling to find it...any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Try this driver, it has worked in many cases:

  • Optical Drive No Longer Recognized-- Yosemite, Mac

Like a fool, I updated to Yosemite. Now my external optical drive is no longer recognized and I can't burn a CD in iTunes. Please help! How can I get my computer to recognize my optical drive and burn a disc? I have a Mac Air.

    Hi,
How is your optical drive connected? It may be a connection problem.
When you go to About this Mac, Overview, System Report, Disc Burning, what does it show?
Does the device show in the Finder window sidebar or in Disk Utility?

  • LP 7.1 wont recognize USB MIDI controller in songs from PC

I recently transfered old Logic songs from a PC to a Mac. I have created and used many songs and used my MIDI keyboard with Logic and the Mac with no problems. On songs that were created on a PC, however, I cant get Logic to see a MIDI In signal.
Other than this the transfer was painless.
    Please Help. Im stuck.
I use a simple Midiman Uno USB with an Alesis QS 6.1
    PB G4 1.25 GB RAM LP 7.1   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Check the click & ports layer of the environment - make sure there is a cable from the physical input (I trust the Uno shows up there, right?) to the sequencer input (default is configured via a keyboard and monitor). I know it's obvious, but I've had that cable not import from PC in the past, and that would cause what you're seeing.

  • How do I enable the use of a USB MIDI controller over ARD?

I'm running Ableton Live on my Macbook Pro and I'm controlling the MBP with my little Macbook. OK - all well and good. Full keyboard/trackpad control. The problem is that when I plug my uc-33e controller into the Macbook, the commands do not get through! How do I go about enabling this?

You are not going to be able to connect a controller to your MacBook and have that controller accessed by your MacBook Pro. That's just not possible, with any remote control software I know of and certainly not with ARD. You're going to have to connect the controller directly to the MBP for applications on that system to be able to access the hardware, unless the developer of the app or the controller provide some sort of remote access capability, something I've never seen.
    Regards.
