Usb mouse is not responding

my USB mouse often freezes on the left corner of screen.  Rebooting is not working.  Sometimes the system comes backup a day later.  Sometimes it does not.  I tried different mice on different ports, not working at all.  I found that when this issue happens, all usb ports are not working.  Does anyone have similar issue? how did you solve it?
Any tips is appreciated.  Thanks.

SMC reset does not work. If you google this problem you will see that many people are having this problem as am I.
I don't understand why apple has not addressed this....All usb ports stop working. Resetting the Pram and smc does nothing. Unplugging the mac usually works but please APPLE, give us a fix for this!!!

    Hi Jeremy
Unfortunately I have no solution for your issue but it can also be some technical limitation. I am also interesting to buy such docking station and I would like to know if there is the same problem with external HDD or USB memory sticks.

  • USB mouse does not work

    hi All
I bought a new HP laptop few days ago, when I installed Win7 pro on it after a few minutes, the usb mouse stopped working. Its light still lights up ,but the cursor does not react. The drivers of the device are installed and working properly. the mouse will
not work until I click "scan for hardware changes"in Device Management . but when I restart the computer, it happend again . but win7 home edition seems does not have this problem. please help.  thanks

    Hi,
I suggest updating the latest BIOS and chipset from HP site, then reinstalling USB controllers to check the result. If any USB hub is used, please bypass it.

    Also, please perform
clean boot, disable your antivirus and firewall
temporarily to avoid any blocking. If the issue persists in clean boot, test the issue in Safe Mode and Device Clean boot.
    Device Clean Boot
    1. Go to Device Manager
    2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers".
    3. Right Click on Audio device and choose disable.
    4. Please use the same method to disable other dubious hardware such as: internal modem, and CD-R drive. Please note some devices such as video adapter are not available
    to be disabled.
    5. After that, restart the computer and then test the issue. If it does not occur, you can enable the device one by one to narrow down this issue.
After you found the device that causing the problem, you can resolve by installing last driver or replacing the device.

  • Custom kernel (2.6.31) - USB Mouse & Keyboard not working [solved]

So I've just recompiled the new kernel (2.6.31) as a custom, as is my custom!
USB Mouse and keyboard no worky (but do as PS/2).
As a quick thing to check - what kernel .config settings haven't I enabled properly? A quick check though and everything SEEMS to be in order.
The stock 2.6.31 kernel works fine with the USB inputs.
    Thanks in advance.
[solved] I realised I was operating off an older kernel26 package (2.6.30), so synching abs and rebuilding using the 2.6.31 package and leaving a few more stock options enabled, seems to have worked.

sry, idk how to get the error output of a compiled package via mkpkg. i know its a weird error...
has anyone tryed to open my kerenel configuration with a graphical cofiguration font end, and to see if the 3945 wireless module is marked as module? when i do it its not aviable. maybe today ill find some time to do the config and compile...
    my arch: x86 ; core duo; pentium m (kernel-processor-type); -march=prescott -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer
yeah, config from testing *.31 works fine, but the job needs to be done to strip out all useless stuff out of that general kernel

  • USB Mouse, Keyboard not recognized in Windows

    Hello,
I have just installed Windows 7 Home Premium on my late 2012 iMac, the installation seems to have gone well except that after running the Bootcamp setup program Windows restarted and now does not recognize any mouse/keyboard - USB mouse and keyboeard as well as Magic Trackpad/Bluetooth keyboard are unresponsive. They worked before the restart, and also work in Safe mode.
Has anyone had/fixed this issue, or can direct me to instructions to help? I've looked over the forum and not found same issue. I'm assuming any fix would have to work in Safe mode as I can't do anything in Normal mode!
    USB port issue?
I'm also assuming I will have to separately fix the Trackpad/Apple Keyboard issue, but first just want to get basic USB devices working.
    Thanks!

Good News: I got it working OK.  Not sure exactly what fixed it, but will list what was done differently in case it helps someone else.
    1. Did a clean install from the Windows 7 Pro x64 disk I had purchased.  The first time I had used an ISO image downloaded from the Internet (not MS site) to create the thumb drive installer, per Bootcamp 4 instructions.
    2. Updated the Windows install using MS Update.  I had to install some drivers I found on the Bootcamp disk I made the previous time.  Those drivers were anything relative to Network and WiFi, so I was able to access the Internet.  Before that I couldn't connect.
    3. After the above, I repeated the download process that downloades the Windows support software for Bootcamp and made a new CD.
    It worked.
I still find the service from Microsoft and even Apple to be an exercise polite but useless finger pointing.  Neither organization wanted to help me.  As with most tech support groups, the object is to get rid of the problem if possible by blaming someone else.  Imagine what might have happened if the Apple tech would have actually conferenced me on a call to Microsoft!  Tech support is non-existent for Bootcamp.
Drop a line to [email protected] if you need anything explained about the above.  Cheers.  -John

  • Mouse cursor is stuck top left corner of screen.  It will not move.  Tried both my Bluetooth mouse, and a USB mouse. Not moving but will click

Tried un pairing the Bluetooth mouse and reconnecting it.  No change.  Tried both those resets people suggested to others in the forums, that didn't help either.  Borrowed my friends USB mouse for his Mac, the same thing.  Cursor will not move, but the click works.(this is what is happening for both)
If you are kind enough to offer help, please be aware of the following: this is my first Mac.  I really know nothing about them.

Yes, once when I first noticed it, and each time I tried both the pram reset, and when I did the other reset (holding down p&r and the other two buttons before the grey screen, and waited for it to reboot from there).  Can't remember what that reset was called

  • My Trackpad or USB mouse will not work

    Hey,
    I'm running a power book G4 on version 10.3.11.
I started to notice erratic behavior with my track pad. It wasn't clicking on anything I was trying to select. Then all of a sudden it completely went. I can move the curser around the page fine but when I try and click on something nothing happens. It's like I am not clicking on the track pad at all.
I'm pretty sure it's not the track pad as the exact same behavior happens when I use a USB mouse.
I've also run a Hardware test and nothing has come back as being faulty.
Can anyone tell me what this could be? Maybe I need to update my operating system? Or there is something wrong with the board that actually reads the ram in my power book?

    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8669772&#8669772
This issue came up for me over the weekend on December 20th.
Tried reset of trackpad with palm. - No improvement.
    PMU reset - No improvement.
    PRAM reset - No improvement.
Disassembly and cleaning - No improvement.
USB mouse and trackpad have same symptoms:
erratic jumpy mouse cursor and clicks not registering correctly.
Used Diskwarrior to repair "keys out of order" problem. - No improvement.
    Noticed desktop wallpaper switching rapidly.
Took PB to Apple Store - Genius booted to his portable HD and problem not evident. Concluded software problem, not hardware. Tried to delete mouse prefs but couldn't find them.
    Genius recommended "archive and install."
    SOLUTION
"Archive and Install" from Tiger update disk. - Problem fixed.
Ran software update - used combined OSX update. - Problem still fixed.
Looks like my problem was a software glitch. Kudos to the Genius for good advice.

  • Spaces problem: mouse clicks not responding

Since upgrading to 10.5.3 I have a recurring problem where after changing screens in Spaces my mouse no longer accepts clicks. I can move the mouse normally, but when I click there is no response and I hear the error alert sound as if the mouse were disabled by an alert or something similar. The only way to get back to normal is to reboot.
This happens with both my wireless mouse and with the USB mouse so I don't think it's hardware related. I've tried force quitting all open applications and restarting the Finder to no avail. It has happened during operation of several different apps so it's not related to any specific application software. I tried disabling any non-apple pref panes as well.
Anybody got any hints? I'd hate to give up Spaces, I've grown accustomed to it's interface.

I have a similar problem, not exactly the same.
I can switch screens just fine all day long. My weird mouse behavior comes from dragging an application from one space to another. I use a secondary monitor and after I get "locked out", I am only "locked out" from my main monitor. On my secondary monitor, I can continue to click applications and interact with them. On the primary monitor (MBP screen), Any application I click on actually loses focus. Similarly I can move the mouse over items in the dock, and they expand/shrink, but I cannot click on any of them.
In no case have I heard an alert to suggest that the mouse has been disabled though.
I have corrected this only by restarting.
I hope this gets fixed. I hadn't noticed it before about 2 or 3 weeks ago, but it has happened to me twice within the last 2 days and once before that about a week ago(?).

  • My USB mouse can not use in kernel2.6.9-ARCH

my Microsoft wheel Optical  USB mouse works well in arch0.6 (with kernel2.6.3), but after I update kernel to 2.6.9-ARCH, my mouse device can not works. The red LED have no light.
But when I install kernel2.6.9 which compile by myself, the mouse works well.
    Why?

arch kernel 2.6.9 got no built in usb support,
you have to load the modules yourself or use hotplug,
if you compile your own kernel you can compile it with built in usb and your mouse will work witout doing anything more,

  • Usb mouse do not work after hibernate

After upgrading to Mountaim Lion a few days ago, most often my USB mouse (a Logitech one) does not react after hibernating. Any ideas why & how to correct?

    Hi mate,
    did you already tried this:
Open start and type Device Manager and then hit enter, to start the device manager. Click the + next to "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and then in that list, you should see some devices called "USB Root Hub". For each of those, right-click, hit properties, go to the Power Management tab, and uncheck the box next to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." Then restart.
Maybe it works. Another workaround could probably be this Microsoft KB document:

  • My Apple USB mouse is not working with Mac OS X 10.6.8

    Any ideas?
My USB Mighty Mouse is no more working with my Mac (OS X 10.6.8). I haven't used it for long, but now it doesn't work anymore.
When I plug it into the USB port, Mac does recognize it but it seems like frozen. Red light under the mouse is on, but no signs from the mouse.
I checked in the system profiler and the mouse appears among the USB hardware, as

  • Mouse does not respond to clicks for 10mins after startup

When I start my iMac I have to wait at least 10mins before it will respond to any mouse-clicks, the mouse will move but not register any clicks. The same is true for the keyboard; it does not register any input for at least 10mins.
This has only started happening since I upgraded to Lion.
It is a third-party mouse (Labtec) and a Mac keyboard, mouse plugged into keyboard, keyboard plugged into Mac, I've tried a diferent USB port to no avail, I also have a pen tablet connected, again this registers movement but not clicks, this is connected to a different USB port to the keyboard/mouse.
After approx 10mins. all previous mouse-clicks or keyboard entries register. I've tried disabling USBOverdrive but this makes no difference (and I have it running on my Macbook without issue)
Interestingly though, if I restart the iMac I don't have the same trouble, it's only when I start it from not having been used for a short while or if it crashes and I have to force it off with the power button (this happened while typing this message for the first time since installing Lion, blue and white stripy screen).
    24" iMac, Mac OS X v10.7, 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 3GB memory.
    Thanks in advance,

NB Just crashed again, white screen this time...

See if changing the batteries helps.

  • Mouse buttons not responding after software installation.

I installed software from Logitech for my new mouse. The cursor moves, but the buttons don't respond. I want to uninstall the software, but without the "click" feature, I cannot choose "uninstall" instead of the highlighted "Quit" in the dialog box. Is there a way around this problem? The mouse had been working just fine until I decided to install the software.
    iMacDVD   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

So what feature of the Logitech software is it that you want to keep? I'm not quite understanding you. My guess is though, there probably isn't a way to keep part of this utility. I'm guessing either or, but since I have no experience with this particular software I can't be sure. Could you tell us what mouse and what software in particular you have?

  • Bluetooth Mouse Clicks Not Responding.

I have charged my batteries they are 100%, the mouse moves around but clicks do nothing.  Went from intermittant to no click response now.
I've disconnected it, reconnected it, checked the batteries, checked my settings, restarted my iMac, looked in here for similar issues but none that have helped.
I do hope someone can help as I'm working on some images in photoshop and using my trackpad is just not as quick for me.
    Thanks in advance!

Wasn't entirely sure resetting the pram would help because  I use a trackpad and it responds fine to that. Went to the apple store and went through elimination and well looks like the sensor has given up which would make sense as it was intermittent before it died. Now £60 lighter but have a new mouse :( apparently it wa cheaper to buy a new one than fix it.
