USB mouse waking up MacBook Pro while shut
I recently got a new USB mouse. However, when if I click a button on the mouse it wakes up my computer while the lid is shut and the colored buttons in the mouse stay lit afterwards. Which means the computer isn't going back to sleep because when I normally put it to sleep all the buttons go out.
I have a Logitech mouse connected to my MBP. It does exactly the same thing as you describe happens with your mouse. I have never felt this is an issue, so have not tried to change it. Perhaps this is "normal" behaviour?

I have a problem today every time i connect a usb mouse on the macbook pro the laptop turns off. What could i do to fix it?
Execute SMC and PRAM resets:

If no success, try another mouse. It may be faulty.

Having trouble with my MacBook Pro and the cursor jumping around and doing it's own thing. Clicking opening up other folders etc.
There are several possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps until it's resolved.
1. Follow the instructions in this support article.
2. Boot in safe mode and test, preferably without launching any third-party applications. If you don't have the problem in safe mode, but it comes back when you reboot as usual, stop here and post your results. If you can't boot in safe mode, do the same. If you booted in safe mode and there was no change, go on to the next step.
3. Reset the System Management Controller.
4. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
5. A swollen battery in a MacBook Pro or Air can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced.
6. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built in trackpad of a MacBook to behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
7. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
8. If none of the above applies, or if you have another reason to think your computer is being remotely controlled, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi (or your Wi-Fi access point), disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop at once, you should suspect an intrusion.
9. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. -
Macbook pro unexpectedly shut down after an usb plug in
My macbook pro unexpectedly shut down after an usb plug in, and it won't turn back on. Please help!
I have this problem also. The only way to get the computer to turn back on is to open the bottom and disconnect the battery then reconnect. I have found similar problems across the web, some people seem to fix the issue by resetting the SMC, but that doesn't do anything for me.

I occasionally have issues waking my macbook pro up from sleep mode resulting in my need to restart the computer. I dislike all of my programs opening at once when I do get the computer started becasue it slows the cpu down. The apple store replaced the sleep part but the problem is still there. Note: i never had this problem with snow leopard
I'm not certain but my new MBA 13...when in sleep mode comes back on from a black screen when I simply click on the left mouse button. Also, one time I did a SECURE EMPTY TRASH on files that totalled more than 1GB and it took so long that the fan kept increasing in speed so I pressed on the POWER button and the MBA shut...I was able to boot up with no problem. As a rule, I now only do secured erases for trash bin data totalling 500mb or less...anything above that gets a regular erase (dump).

USB ports in my macbook pro stop working
For a few months now the USB ports in my Macbook Pro stop working. The mouse is unable to move the pointer, therefore, I have to use the trackpad to select things. Then, when i try to shut it down it refuses to shut down, so I have to hold the on/off button to turn it off. When I turn on the laptop, the problem goes away. It's been happening more often for the last few weeks. Is there a problem with the software or is it the fact that I never used a base to raise the laptop, until recently, to let air in below so it doesnt heat up so much?
Any help is appreciated.Hi h,
Try an SMC Reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 -
Cannot get iPad 2 charged beyond 1%. All charging ports tried: AC adapter(s), USB 2 port on MacBook Pro. ITunes shows iPad only for a few seconds. iPad displays alternately: Apple logo, battery w/slim red band, then battery w/1% charged information. How can I get it to charge beyond 1% so I can proceed to troubleshoot?
I have had your exact problem with my old 3GS, now I cannot even get it to turn on, I still see that it is supposed to be charging though, but it never charges any so it seems.
I replaced the Lower Dock Connector Assembly back when it still charged while hooked to my PC, and it found it made no real difference.

At this point I am not sure if I should replace the battery and hope for the best, or just junk the phone, I cannot really sell it if I cannot reset it... -
Close MacBook Pro while using MDP- HDMI adaptor ?
I have the Moshi MDP-HDMI adaptor. It works very well and transports audio well too.
I just want to know if it is possible to close the lid of the MacBook Pro while using MDP->HDMI adaptor ? (as in stopping it from going into sleep mode) So that it can be stowed neatly under the display unit when watching movies/presentations etc. rather than the lid having to be open a couple of inches...That can be done but there are conditions that must be met. For example, the MBP needs to be plugged into its power adapter. And then an external keyboard and mouse are needed. See here:

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.

Whenever I connected my Magic Mouse to my Macbook Pro Retina, the Internet does't work right away,
and while I disconnected the Mouse, it works immediately......
Does anyone has the same prob. or know why it happens?
Please help me out and thanks for your kindness! But I tested, I clicked a link and it started loading, and when I got the Mouse connected, it stops the process and got stuck...
And I clicked a link again, now with the mouse connected, it stuck forever, and when disconnected the mouse, it immediately works! -
When waking my macbook pro it sometimes takes 3 opening and closings to wake up
when waking my macbook pro it sometimes takes 3 opening and closings to wake up. Why?
I get something like this:
1/19/14 7:26:22.557 PM configd[18]: DHCP en0: RENEW/REBIND transmit failed
1/19/14 7:27:27.155 PM configd[18]: network changed: DNS* Proxy
1/19/14 7:27:27.161 PM configd[18]: network changed: v4(en0!:192.168.25.113) DNS+ Proxy+ SMB
That failed message recurs in Console while my MBP cannot connect to my wifi. The "network changed" messages correspond to the point when my MBP does finally connect.
Here's another piece. I have Windows 8.1 installed through Boot Camp. When I run Windows, I get no wifi problems. I don't know how much that helps, but it's a piece of info! -
can I use an USB disc with my macbook pro bought in 2005. What capacity will it take 2.00 or 3.00?
The first MacBook Pro's were not released until the beginning of 2006, and they had USB 2 ports.
Anything available new in 2005 would have been a PowerBook G4 and they also had USB 2 ports.
A USB 3 disk will just transfer data slower then it could do, if you plug it into a USB 2 port though, so you can buy either. -
My USB port on my Macbook Pro stopped working and i tried the SMC reset and the one closest to the SD port still continues to not work. Is there anything i can do besides bringing it in?
I would do another SMC reset. If nothing changes you should take the computer in to an Apple store for a free diagnostic. You should make an appointment.
