USB not working in Thinkpad T61 (Windows)

Hi,
recently i just fresh installed my windows XP and install all the driver using think update but it seems it failed to install the proper usb driver. I have tried the Intel chipset driver but still not working. What is the apropriate driver for usb?

I had an absolutely horrendous experience trying to install drivers after a fresh install. My primary issue was that I prefer using the INF files and the add/remove hardware wizard to install new hardware. In addition, I had problems with the Thinkvantage update, which didn't always give me the drivers I needed. I had to perform it manually... on a fresh format, download and install the Intel chipset driver FIRST. Then install everything else using the included setup files in the drivers manually (using the INF files seems to miss something in the process) .... that should clear it up.
The first few times I experimented with driver setup, I noticed that my T61 is very picky with drivers. If it is not installed properly the first time, re-installs never work properly. I had random hardware failures including USB, audio, touchpad, and so on. Good luck!

Uploading files to website not working with Safari in Windows 7

Hi,
I am a website owner, and I have a feature on my site where users can upload large (up to 50MB) music files to my server. The feature works in Firefox on OSX & Windows platforms and it also works in Safari on OSX. The uploading feature is not working with Safari for Windows. Do you have any idea why and how to fix this? It can't be an issue with my server as it works in other browsers fine and works fine in Safari for OS X.
If you have any information on how to solve this or things for me to try to rectify this for use with Windows operating system it would be much appreciated.

I have solved this issue myself with some help from my a user on Microsoft Forums. The issue stems from the mime type of each Browser Chrome, IE, & Safari for Windows defaults as audio/wav. When the mime type is changed to audio/x-wav everything works. Firefox defaults to audio/x-wav and when changed to audio/wav it DOES NOT work.
Once I input some code in my .php upload page to change the mimetype if audio/wav is detected everything works GREAT!!!
So Here is what you need to do: Find your upload page and input this code:
echo "MIME Type: ".$_FILES["file"]["type"]."";
right before your "If/then" statement of file type. For me it was near line 30 in my upload.php page, but I'm sure this is different for everyone.
This will detect and DISPLAY the default mime type of your browser on the error page when your upload doesn't work. Once you know what mime type works for your file type then you can change your "if/then" statement for mime type upload to change your mime type to the correct one.
I don't want to give the code here, because I'm sure it's specific to your file types and your site construction, but this should lead you on the right track.
***This is the solution if you ARE NOT ABLE to upload any certain file in a certain Browser. It has to do with mime type construction***

ValentinT, welcome to the forum.
There are no drivers available for Windows 8. I suggest checking in the Control Panel/Sound/Recording to assure that your microphone is selected. It seems that the Sound is one area that gets changed when updating to Win 8.1. At least, this is what happened to me.

Hi Sameer,
There's no version of Windows Vista that is supported, regardless of service packs. You can always upgrade to Windows 7, though.
Your other option is to use Brackets, the open source editor that Edge Code is based on. It still supports Vista for now. The downside is that Brackets lacks some features of Edge Code: Kuler integration, Edge Inspect integration, and Edge Web Fonts code hints -- although all of those except Kuler are offered as optional Brackets extensions too (you just have to install them).

The FN keys are controlled by Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. I think you have forgotten to install these tools
You should check the Toshiba page again and download both tools. Start with installation of Value Added Package then restart your notebook. After this install Flash Cards Support Utility. Once again restart and all FN keys should work properly now.

What did the F5 key do before? According to your manual in the Action Keys list (page 32-33), that key wasn't tied to anything unless its just for page refresh.
If a Windows update breaks something, the best way I know to correct the problem is to uninstall that update.
OR
You can revert Windows back to an earlier state before the update with a Restore Point provided you didn't turn off that feature. If for some reason it is turned off, you will not be able to revert to that point as one was not created.
After the restore, only install one windows update at a time until you find the culprit and uninstall it. This way you have the other updates installed. YES this can be a long process.

Bluetooth AND USB not working

Hi friends i'm facing 2 problems1. my bluetooth is not working properly, initially it wont show any blutooth icon when i start up, but after i restart it shows and start working, every time i need to repeat this to use bluetooth. kindly suggest me the solution.2. the usb ports (3.0 and2.0) both doesnt work properly, they only detect devices wen i go to device manager and scan for hardware devices.

I was also worried that bluetooth is not working. But eventually came to know that this model 15R203TX has bluetooth version 4.0 which is backward compatible to other bluetooth devices of version 2.0 to 2.1 EDR. Means if your hand set or any bluetooth device is having version 2.0 or 2.1 EDR it won't able to send any data or see this laptop model while transferring data. Moreover if you try to send data from laptop to other bluetooth device irrespective of version it is able to send data. Now it is Same with WiFi this model is backward compatible to IEEE 802.11 a/b/g. means you can't receive signals from this devices unless the router is having IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ac. For USB not working may be its a BIOS issue. While boot up try to press F2 key. And enter the diagonistic blue page. There you can check the version of BIOS or try to reinstall the updated BIOS by downloading it from HP support. If USB still not woking then try to go to nearest authorised HP service centre.

issue 1 - 2 out of 3 usb not working, 1 usb 3.0 and 1 usb2.0 not working. 1 usb 2.0 is working properly
question 1- is it because of faulty laptop or driver issue? also, if it is driver issue, then why 1 usb 2.0 is working?
issue 2 - All Drivers are missing.

looking for your immediate reply. as if in 1st question, if usb ports are defective and laptop is faulty, i will ask for a replacement or refund.

Likely all of these issues would be fixed with the chipset driver.

USB 3.0 ports not working after upgrading to Windows 8.1

I have an Asus WIndows 8 laptop that I just upgraded to Windows 8.1 today. My USB 3.0 ports have started acting up. At first they recognized some of my external hard drives but not others. I tested all of the external hard drives and they work fine on my
other machines. I've tested the wires as well. Now, when I plug my external hard drives into the USB 3.0 ports, none of them work at all. All of them work fine on the 2.0 USB port though. How can I get my USB 3.0 ports working again?

Usb not working properly in windows 7 x64 (890FXA-GD70)

Hi,
I am currently having problems with my USB ports. A select few ports are not working. In the device manager, windows claims to have not started up related drivers. I tried fixing this by updating the drivers from the msi page. This caused all the usb ports to stop working. I am not sure what the problem is but however it does seem isolated to my windows 7 x64 install. My keyboard and mouse still work in bios, but not once windows 7 starts up. The keyboard and mouse also work when I use the system disk to restore back to a system checkpoint. I am at a loss as to what could be causing this or how to fix it when the drivers supported are failing me.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yea as I stated earlier, after installing these drivers all the usb ports stopped working in the current windows 7 install.

Fingerprint Scanner not working on ThinkPad T440p under Windows 10

The fingerprint reader on my ThinkPad T440p isn't working after updating to Windows 10.
I looked up my FP reader on the Windows Update Catalog for drivers, and the ones there are the same as what I have installed now under Win 7, over a year old. They don't have any Win 10 drivers listed in the Catalog.
Setting up the fingerprint reader is greyed out for me in account settings. Driver is installed and device is working. Pin is set.
Answer
On the screen where the fingerprint button is greyed out, check for a warning/error text at the top in red.
The message will be similar to: “Some settings are managed by your organization”. If this is displayed, try the following:
You can fix this problem by deleting a registry entry:
Open Regedit and navigate to here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinBio\Credential Provider
find the value "Enabled=0" and delete it.
Reboot, then try to enroll fingers again.
This registry entry gets set when you uninstall Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro on Windows 7, prior to the upgrade to Windows 10.
Additional considerations:
If you uninstall Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro before upgrading to Win10, then you run into the issue that you found with the "Enabled=0" registry which prevents fingerprint enrollment on Win10.
If you wait to try to uninstall Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro after upgrading to Win10, then you get an error message during the uninstallation like “Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro is not support on the operating system running” and the software cannot be uninstalled. Fingerprint will still work on Win10 even if Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro stays installed. This second scenario is being investigated.

Hi to all, I have just joined the forum to take some help from u people. I have a G510, on which i have just upgraded the OS from windows 8.1 to 10. After upgrading, some issues came like hdmi cable not working, external hard disk not detecting, etc., which with installation of drivers from lenovo website just went away. But still there is a problem of not connecting of my iball airway 21.0 Mp-58 3g usb modem with the lappy. The message coming while installation is "633The modem (or other connecting device) is already in use or is not configured properly". Microphone not working after upgrading to windows 7 on Compaq Mini 730EA.

My Compaq Mini 730EA came with Wins XP and I have just upgraded to Wins 7 Ultimate 32 bit. My Mic is not working with Windows 7, but it can play sound. When I roll back to Windows XP the mic works, but does not with Wins 7.
Where can I get the appropriate driver for the mic, please. Not driver? Then What should I do?

Since there isn't a driver to download the only thing you can possible do is delete the windows driver that the notebooks installs for the feature.
This is what it will look like.
Go under Human Interface Devices and delete every USB INPUT DEVICE.
Then restart the notebook and it should install the drivers back.
