Usb port available amp

I have an HP Envy m6-k025dx. What is the avail amps from each USB port, 2.0, 3.0, and the charging 3.0?
Does the same DC power supply power all three ports?
I am asking because I have an Un-powered port expander . ON my previous HP laptop the USB port's power was blown because I had too many things plugged in, ( from 2005)
I could not find any USB power avail amp specs in the user manual.
Thank You

David Crabtree1...
When booted in 10.4.x launch Activity Monitor and see if anything "Epson" related, is in the list. (Applications-Utilities folder)
BTW- Command-1 (one) will Show Activity Monitor as a Text-List view or just go to the Monitors Menu and click on it.
If there is a Epson(process?).app running it may have the printer already tied up and may not let Chooser stake a claim to it because it sees the USB port busy. It may work after you quit or force quit anything related to your printer.
Don't forget that the printer may need a 30 second power off / reset anytime there some print bug. This is the most common issue with printers.

Title says it all:
How do I use a NORMAL headset (dual 3.5mm) on my new Macbook pro retina? No usb ports available and headset buddy adapter doesn't work.

Hi Auracles1,
Here's a pretty discussion regarding wireless printing with this device and a Mac.
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-networking-and-wireless/HP-Officejet-6500-E 709n-wireless-issue/m-p/258853
I have a similar OfficeJet and it was a multi-step process. (1) Install printer drivers on the machine, (2) Add the printer queue in print & fax, (3) Run the "setup wizard" from the disc for wireless printing.

• Too few USB ports

I use an iMac G5 with bluetooth keyboard and wifi trackball. Consequently there are only three USB ports available. I use a powered hub, but an increasingly large number of external items refuse to use the hub and insist on using the three iMac ports, one of which is taken up by the hub! As this is not a new problem I wondered if over the years people have discovered a way round, such as a hub which is not rejected by items such as my hp printer, fujitsu scan snap, or my new Seagate external hard drive. Alternatively has any software been written that would fool the products into thinking that the hub was one of the sockets on the iMac?

I use an Asante hub, which I have had for several years, it has no brick, just plugs straight into the wall. All my peripherals, including my printer, my EyeFi etc. etc. play perfectly well with it. It may be that your hub is failing, but on the face of it, there's no reason your peripherals shouldn't work, although there are some that specifically insist that you use the computer and not a hub. As long as they don't specify that, they should work. However, telling you that they should work isn't helpful. Try getting another hub, they aren't very expensive, and see if it works. If it doesn't, you can always return it.

Hello
Can anybody know about the following questions?
1) Which router having USB port on which we can connect 4G datacard for internet connectivity?
2) Is there any inbuild USB port available on 1921-SEC/K9, 2921-SEC/K9, 3925-SEC/K9 routers for connecting 4G datacard for internet connectivity?
3) Is there any WIC card available that will be having USB port for connecting 4G datacard?

1) Which router having USB port on which we can connect 4G datacard for internet connectivity?
None. USB ports do not have adequate capabilities to power up those kinds of devices.
2) Is there any inbuild USB port available on 1921-SEC/K9, 2921-SEC/K9, 3925-SEC/K9 routers for connecting 4G datacard for internet connectivity?

• USB ports no longer charge when PC is off since installing Supercharger

I have an MSI Z77A-G41 (MS-7758) Rev 3.0 running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit - 8GB RAM running the latest BIOS and drivers (used MSI LiveUpdate)
Charging devices with my front USB ports always worked when the PC was off, UNTIL I installed Supercharger from MSI's LiveUpdate utility. Charging does appear to be faster while the PC is on, but it no longer charges my devices when powered off like it did before I installed Supercharger.
I then uninstalled Supercharger, and the PC still will not charge devices when powered off.
I ensured 'EuP 2013' is DISABLED via BIOS ... not sure what else to do and why USB charging while powered off is no longer working. :(

OK, I just figured out what the problem is.
JUSB1 and JUSB2 control the 2 USB ports available to the front of my PC. With my board (MSI Z77A-G41 (MS-7758) Rev 3.0), JUSB1 is NOT red, but it still charges devices connected to it when powered off.
In my situation, the top USB port runs to JUSB1, the bottom runs to JUSB2.
I just realized my device was plugged into the bottom USB port which runs to JUSB2. The top port connected to JUSB1 works fine when the PC is off.
Issue resolved. Thanks for your replies people, I'm good to go!

Edit:
Forgot to mention that I already tried following kernel parameters (acpi=routeirq, noirqdebug, pci=msi, irqpoll, irqfixup) of which only noirqdebug worked (as to say that IRQ #16 was not disables, so my keyboard did work), but which caused a decrease in graphics performance (low fps rates (shells refresh slowly), tearing).

ok, there are only 2 devices using IRQ 16
00:16.0 Communication controller: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family MEI Controller #1 (rev 04)
00:1a.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller #2 (rev 05) (prog-if 20 [EHCI])
there are many reports about intel chipset systems having the same problem after kernel 2.6.38 / 2.6.39 .
you basically have 2 options :
1. If you want to have all usb ports available:
test with the LTS kernel 2.6.32.48, verify it doesn't have those problems (99% sure)
stick to LTS-kernel atleast until the problem is solved in the mainline kernel
2. Disable / don't use the problem ports.
your system has multiple USB controllers :
00:1a.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller #2 (rev 05) (prog-if 20 [EHCI])
00:1d.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller #1 (rev 05) (prog-if 20 [EHCI])
03:00.0 USB controller: NEC Corporation uPD720200 USB 3.0 Host Controller (rev 03) (prog-if 30 [XHCI])
test which / how many ports do work
If there are not enough usb ports working, your system has several pci express slots.
you could consider purchasing a pci express extension card with usb ports.
While it may use the same driver, it will get a different irq.

• Charging iPhone 3GS in Sweden with adapter that has integrated USB ports

I'll be traveling to Sweden in a few weeks, and I found an adapter that has two integrated USB ports. Both my husband and I have iPhones, 3GS models. If we get this adapter, can we use the USB ports on it to charge our iPhones in Sweden? It doesn't convert voltage.

Message was edited by: jadzzia

Please excuse me if I write something you already know, but, based on your last message that you are worried because you adapter "doesn't convert voltage," I'll give it a shot anyway.
The voltage that is supplied to your wall outlet is alternating current (AC). In the US and Canada this is 120 volts AC. In Europe - and in many countries around the world - it is 220 volts AC.
A USB port on a computer, or an equivalent USB outlet on an adapter, supplies between 4.75 volts and 5.25 volts direct current (DC). The same kind of power that is supplied by a battery.
The adapter that you mention, that has two USB ports available, DOES convert the voltage from 120 volts AC (or 220 volts AC) to approximately 5 volts DC.
As I mentioned in my first reply, if the adapter can be used for voltages from 110 volts AC to 220 volts AC you will not have any problems in Europe. All that you need to do is to plug it in the wall socket in Sweden and then plug your iPhones into the adapter via the regular sync/power cable that you use all the time. If your adapter is not "universal" - that is, it doesn't have all the plug adapters for European countries you can pick one up online or at a Radio Shack (or similar store) or even at most airport stores. Do a Google search for "Sweden, power outlets" and you can see what the outlets look like.
Good luck,
Mike

My computer runs on Windows 7, and I've installed and updated the latest versions of itunes etc, but still to no avail! I've tried different usb ports, troubleshooting, etc... But it still says "One of the USB decuces arrached to this omputer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it".
The iPod is brand new, sent to me by Apple as part of the 1st gen replacement programme. I've been using the cable that came with the 1st gen iPod (I bought the first gen second hand) It always worked on my computer with the 1st gen iPod. So I was wondering, do you think I need to replace my cable in order for my PC to recognize my iPod or is it something else?
Thanks

Try a different cable. And are you connecting directly to your computer or through a USB hub?

I could also split all the RCA jacks to accomodate another input here. Thanks in advance for any and all help with this problem of mine..............RR.

There is no s-video cable available for any iPad.
The USB port on the cable box is for maintenance use only.
There are RCA cables available:

iMAC 27", Mid 2011
The USB port 1 & 3 (1 is near the firewire port) are not working, also Bluetooth is not available.
I try to reset PRAM and SMC but it didnt change the situation.
When executing Hardware Test (Diagnostics) no errors are found (short and long test). When in the hardware test, all USB ports are working.
AND afterwards when restarting Mavericks the USB port 3 works again - but when I then unplug the mouse, put it to port 4 and back to port 3 it does not work anymore. (I didn't check if the same happens with port 1).
Any suggestions how to fix it?
Thomas

Unfortunately it doesn't change anything.
Yesterday I reinstall Mavericks from scratch (erase hard disk and install OS). Now no bluetooth icon appears in the menu bar - even not in system preferences.
Some further issues I notice but I'm not sure if they are related to the bluetooth issue:
it takes about 60sec. after a reboot/restart until the apple logo appears and the progress indicator is running
I found a lot of USB error messages in the logs:$ sudo dmesg | grep USB

• I just bought a new portable battery. It uses 2 USB ports to charge devices, a 1 amp port and a 2 amp port. My question is which port do I plug my iPhone 5s into and which do I use for my iPad 2?

It's a 10,000 mAh external battery. I got this for traveling and because I go to disneyland a lot. My phone wont last all day there and unlike some people, I would never plug my phone into their outlets (I watched a girls phone spark and practically melt once), their voltage is way too high. I have other batteries, but when I saw that this one can charge the 5s fully 3-5 times, I new it was a must. Online, there were wonderful reviews about it and that it charges the 5s and the iPad 2 wonderfully. However when I opened the package and read the directions it listed that there were 2 USB ports, a 1 amp and a 2 amp and to match your device to the port. Now it's been a while since I've studied about volts, amps, etc. so the first thing I do is google it. I know that the iPhone 5s uses 1 amp and the iPad 2 uses 2 amps, and from what I read, you can use the iPad charger to charge the iPhone (which I didn't know there were conflicts about this, I've always used my iPad charger for my phone). There are a lot of articles with people going back and forth about charging techniques, but I want to make sure I'm not going to damage any of my devices if I plug it into the wrong port.
Any responses will be appreciated as this isn't an area where I am very knowledgeable! Thank you!!!

The iPhone and iPad draw whatever charging current they require. The iPad draws more.

• How to increase current available to a USB port?

My internal optical drive is not working correctly. I am trying to install a MavBook Air SuperDrive, and there is not enough current avalable.
How do increase the current or do I find another Drive.

You can't. It's regulated internally by the chips that provide the USB ports. Put an external power brick on the drive or try a different product that supports use of bus power. You can purchase a bare hard drive and a separate enclosure at OWC

• IPhone 4S won't charge anywhere in my house if its powered on, only off - but will charge by USB port in my car. Help!?

I know part of my question is a repeat of others, but - I can't find one on the boards that matches mine exactly.
Basically, many months into having my phone (I'm updated to the current software), my phone is refusing to charge by wall sockets. I thought it may have been a specific socket, so I tried others. No luck. I tried connecting to one of the power strips I my room, again, no luck. With my last attempt, I plugged it into one of the USB ports on my new power outlet block (has two USB ports), AGAIN, no power.
I switched and also tried 4 different cords. No change.
At this point, after an hour of extreme frustration, my phone had died. So, I plugged it in for you-know-what's & giggles. Within about 15 minutes, my phone mysteriously powered on with about 5% battery - but, NO CHARGING SYMBOL AND NO CHARGING ONCE ON! I even tried almost every outlet, in a two story house, while switching between outlet, power strip, and USB ports on the power block - to no avail!
I was stunned, so as a last resort I went to my car. I have a 12v universal USB charger, as well as a USB port that is built into the car. They work...
As you can surely see, I'm extremely frustrated. Since my fiancés iPhone is broken, and my mother (whom I do not live with) is a severe heart patient, and currently sick - I need my phone on & running out to let the phone charge in 20* weather and going out to check it every hour, is not ideal.
So, ultimately, if anyone can explain to me if they believe it could be a circuitry issue, battery issue, or phone issue - also, explain as to why it will charge by two methods in my car, but not any means in my house; I would be greatly appreciative!
Thanks!
Typing this as my phone is about to die -_- .

Got the same problem
last night I tried to charge my iPhone 4 with my ps3 USB ports, suddenly it began to stop charging and start again like on/off so i unplugged it from my ps3, now it wont charge with my ac adapter or my macbook, however it charges on one computer that ive build my self. if my phone turn off due to 0% battery it will charge anywhere until it got 5% power
since it charges means nothing is wrong with the phone i think, so I will buy a new USB cable, or borrow one to see if it works. most likely the usb cable causing the problem for both of us

• B&W G3 chimes, black screen no boot no power to USB ports.

My precious situation:
I have a B&W g3 that has been upgraded to a 600mhz G4. It has been workin g well for several years now. Yesterday I booted into OS X 10.4.11 and it had a kernel panic. I tried restarting to no avail. Everything powers on, the fans the optical drive and the hddrives. The power button is green but there is no chime and the screen is black. There is no power to the USB ports so I can't use the keyboard to flash PRAM or boot into open firmware. I've tried the CUDA and taking out the battery. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Since then:
I couldn't resolve that situation, so I got another one at a local thrift store and swapped in all my pci cards, ram and hdd from the old one. It was working awsome until yesterday. Now the same situation as before. I know what I did wrong this time, but don't know how to resolve it. What happened was I went into start up disk in preferences and chose Mac OS X hdd as start up disk and restarted. Before it was done booting I shut it down with the power button on the front and now this. This time though it does chime when I turn it on. What should I do? I cannot use keyboard commands as there is no power to the USB ports.

Do you have the original bootable Mac OS CD or DVD that came with the machine? I have no experience with the Blue&White G3, but had a beige desktop model a long time ago. Whenever I had some strange boot issues with OS 9 or OS X I was usually able to boot from the original OS 8 CD that shipped with the machine. I could then run disc utility to verify and repair the main internal drive and then try to reboot.
Booting issues are tricky, because you don't really know if you have a hardware or software problem, unless you have another identical working machine and can swap out parts to rule out what you know is good and eventually isolate what is bad. Going back to the original OS on the optical media and the stock machine with no third-party expansion cards is a good baseline configuation to start out from.
