Usb port not compatable with windows 8

I have a usb port to download  called, CareLink for Medtronic, that will not work with windows 8. What can I do ? I really need this for my husband to use with his insulin pump. The company is waiting on approval from FDA to get approved for windows 8.

Do you mean it is a device that plugs into one of the usb ports of the computer? And there is no driver for Windows 8?
Here is a page I found showing how to download drivers for Windows 7 and Vista. In the vast majority of cases Windows 7 drivers will work with Windows 8 as long as the driver install program is set to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode.
http://carelink.minimed.com/html/en/US/help/index.html?v477122.htm
Try running the installation in Windows 8. It will likely fail but do not despair. Note where the installation files have been unzipped onto the hard drive. Go into the file where the installation software has been stored. It is likely in a folder in the program files. Open the folder and look for an installation program (.exe). It is likely called setup.exe. Right click on it and choose properties and then compatibility and set the compatibility to Windows 7. You might also need to set it to run as administrator. Once you have it set that way, try running it again by just double clicking setup.exe.
This link also claims to have Windows 8 drivers:

What do I need to do when a website sends me a message that my adobe reader 7 is not compatable with windows 8?

Are you using Adobe Reader 7 on Windows 8? If so, the message is probably correct and you should download the latest version of Adobe Reader (which is XI).
If you already have Reader XI, maybe you can give us some more details about where you are at and what you are doing when you get this message.

  • This hardware not compatable with Windows XP due to Logo signage

My bother (who resides in another state) just purchased an HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer. He tried to connect it to his computer than has XP Pro as the OS, and gets the following error message:
"this hardware not compatable with Windows XP due to Logo signage"
Anyone run across or heard of this problem?

    Hi,
This explaination may help. The CD which came with the printer may not cover for this situation. My suggestion: go to this site to download XP driver & application then install them on the XP machine.
    Regards,

  • USB ports not working in Windows-7 on MacBook Pro Retina Late 2013 after Bootcamp installation

    1) INSTALLATION
Using Bootcamp (v. 5.1.1, OS X Mavericks) in combination with an original Microsoft installation DVD disc using an external optical CD/DVD drive. Note, the installation is NOT from an ISO image. In the Bootcamp setup window only the lower two of the three setup options are clicked, namely a) to download Windows-7 drivers to a USB stick, and b) to partition the harddrive and then to install Windows.
    2) PROBLEM
After the initial Windows-7 installation no devices attached to the USB ports can be found under Windows-7. The ports are dead. Also the WLAN did not work, so no internet connection was possible.
    3) CAUSE
The problem is caused when you use a USB 3.0 stick as destination for the Bootcamp driver downloads. It seems that Windows-7 cannot recognize the USB 3.0 stick properly during the Bootcamp/Windows installation process, thus failing to do perform a proper installation of the Windows-7 drivers.
    4) SOLUTION
Use a USB 2.0 stick and everything will work perfectly.
    Follow these steps in order:
    1) Connect your external DVD drive to a USB port and insert the Windows installation disc
    2) Start the Bootcamp utility
    3) In Bootcamp, remove the failed Windows-7 installation and partition
    4) In Bootcamp, redo the entire Bootcamp process, but this time using a USB 2.0 stick
    5) Follow all further steps in Bootcamp and later in the Windows-7 installation process
    6) At the end of the installation procedures you will be asked to confirm the installation of all Bootcamp/Windows drivers.
    7) Bootcamp installs all the drivers and your Windows-7 installation will work perfectly.

Ok, where is this Intel driver? There is no such thing "program manager" so I am guessing you mean the Programs and features control panel, but on my machine that whole window is blank after a clean install. I still cannot get the USB ports to activate. Two fresh installs and several different USB sticks later and no luck.  Should I just give up and go to Windows 8.1?  I really need Windows 7 to work if at all possible. Other devices shows one USB controller without driver software so I suppose that's the culprit. There are other USB devices installed under the USB section of Device Manager, but they apparently have nothing to do with the USB ports themselves, just devices like the trackpad etc.  I've spent two hours on this so far and it's getting out of control.  Why doesn't this work with generic USB drivers?

  • I purchased Illustrator 8.0 on ebay and apparently it is not compatable with windows 7, is there anything I can do to use this program?

I purchased illustrator 8.0 on ebay and apparently it is not compatible with windows 7.  Is there anything I can do to use this program?

    Beverly,
    Yes.
You may need to run the computer in XP mode to install it (you may try in normal mode first). Here is how:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/install-and-use-windows-xp-mode-in-windows-7
Once installed, you should be able to get it to run with the PC in normal mode as follows (first run):
    1) RightClick the shortcut;
    2) Click Properties;
    3) Click Compatibility;
    4) Tick Run this program in Compatibility mode for, then select XP in the dropdown list;
    5) Start AI8.
After that, you can just DoubleClick the shortcut.
Hopefully, you bought it legally (with a genuine, non registered serial number, or had a licence transfer).

  • Acer C710 - USB Ports not working with patched kernel

    I have an...
    Acer C710-844G01ii
I have replaced the original SSD with a Mushkin 120GB SSD (MKNSSDCR120GB-7)
I've used John Lewis' script at https://johnlewis.ie to flash the firmware. It works great. It loads 64 bit dual arch iso (2014.10.01) written to a USB flashdrive (Well, I'm actually using SD card in a USB reader. Not sure if that makes a difference) without having to utilize the workaround listed on the Chromebook wiki page (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ch … stallation). I just create a regular arch bootable usb and it seems to work fine. I can use the bootable USB tools. I can install arch to the hard disk fine. (I did this a couple of times on the original SSD that came with the chromebook before I replaced it, so I know it works without having to change the SSD).
The problem I'm having occurs after I install the patched kernel (linux-chromebook-3.16.4-1-x86_64 or linux-mainline-chromebook-3.17-1-x86_64 I've tried them both. Both times I wiped the hard drive and went through the entire install process from scratch). After booting, everything loads up fine except that I lose functionality of my USB ports. The custom BIOS still reads the arch bootable USB if I choose to boot into it. If I boot from the hard drive though, as soon as the patched kernel loads, the USB ports are not working.
    The output of
    dmesg | tail
is the same before and after inserting a flash drive into a usb port.
    Running the command
    lsusb
    gives output
    unable to initialize libusb: -99

Updated the system, now using arch kernel 3.17.1-1
    Problem still exists.

  • USB Ports Not Working - L530 (Windows 8 - 64 Bit)

I was recently having problems with the USB ports and SD Card reader on my laptop coming out of hibernation.  I had to start the Lenovo Solutions Center and run the Hardward Check and they would start working.  Then, programs would start hanging in the middle of operation so I called the Lenovo support.  They suggested I upgrade the BIOS.
Now that I have upgraded the BIOS, the applications still hang mid processing, but I cannot get my USB drivers working again.  I have tried turning them on in the hardward and devices menu, without success.  I have refreshed the whole computer and reset the settings to default in the setup utility.  The only thing I haven't done is start from scratch with the recovery disks because I want to make a backup, which I can't do without the USB drive working.
Does anyone have any ideas that I can try?

    Hi, ralbritton
There are two things I would try to see if they alleviate this issue: Firstly, I would go to the BIOS of the system and make sure that the USB ports are set to Enabled under Security ► I/O Port Access. Secondly, I would attempt to boot the system into Safe Mode and try to use the USB ports in this mode. If the USB ports do not work under these conditions then it is likely that the motherboard is going bad, which can also explain the hanging programs to an extent. If this turns out to be the case, then I would give Lenovo Support a call at 1-800-426-7378 and discuss a motherboard replacement.
To boot into Safe Mode into Windows 8:
When in Windows, open the Charms Bar from the right.
    Select Settings
    Select Power
While holding down the left shift key, click Restart
Continue to hold down the left shift key until a menu appears.
    Select Troubleshoot
    Select Advanced Options
    Select Startup Settings
    Click Restart
Select Safe Mode from the list that appears after boot (should be #4)
    Best of luck,
    Adam

  • Premier pro 5.5 not compatable with windows 7 64 bit

I have recently spent over 3.5 hours on the phone live only to be told they can't fix the problem of Premier pro shutting down in Windows 7 64bit every time I try to open it.
I was told to install Pro 4.  I have pro 4 and that is why I bought 5.5  Now I can't get pro 4 to work either it also is shutting down.  Has anyone had the problem.  I believe Adobe has left me hanging after spending 495.

I was finally luckey enough to get a tech on the phone.  To get the tech I had to call sales and explain what was happening , that the 800-833 6687 would get me to choice 2 for tech help and then hang  up.  This happened yesterday 10-28-2011 roughly 18 times.  The sales person was kind enough to stay on the phone and verify what I was saying and go through the connections and get me to a tech who knew what he was doing and take the time to do it.  It took roughly 1hour and 30 minutes to determine that the video card was the problem.  The adobe site lists my card and compatable with the suite.  I took the machine to Best Buy tech
and tried to show him the problem and the system worked.  I recreated the scene at home and found the difference was that BB was using only one monitor.  Premier Pro 5.5 is the only part of the suite that will not work with dual monitors.  For 3 days I have spent countless hours and exausted patience only to solve the problem myself.  So much for Adobe tech help.

  • Software for HP solutions center is not compatable with windows 7

I bought a HP note book pc with windows 7 64 bit operating system.  I'm using a HP officejet 4315v all in one printer that works perfectly using the driver detected by windows 7 installed using the USB cable.  Previously I had installation software for the HP solution center program that worked with XP and Vista.  When I tried to install the software in  windows 7 I received the message telling me it was incompatable with my operating system.  There seems to be  according  all my research in the HP system no updated software to use Window solutiions center with Windows 7 64 bit operating system.  HP says there is a work around that will open the toolbox in order to check ink levels but not much more.  It doesn't work.  I know microsoft 7 provides a way to scan and fax but HP solution center was by far better.  Are there any solutions I might have misses or suggestion?  I would appreciate any help given. TIA

The only solution for the officejet 4315v is the in-OS driver in WIndows 7,  there is no full feature software availible for this printer in that OS.

  • USB Ports not working with specific devices

So this one has me scratching my head. My USB ports on the back of my iMac are working except for a few devices. 1 being a logitech USB receiver, and 1 being a usb mp3 player. When I plug the received into the iMac the keyboard won't work, but when I plug my USB hub into the same USB port and the receiver into the hub it works fine. The mp3 player isn't working in any usb/hub (so that's a mook point).
Here's what I've tried to resolve this issue:
    1. Reset iMac
    2. Reset PRAM
    3. Try every usb port on the back of the iMac
None of these have fixed my issue. Plugging it into the hub isn't a huge deal, but I'd like the option to use my USB ports as I wish without having to deal with this. Anyone have advice on a solution?

It is not a matter of using your USB ports as you wish, it is a matter of what you are plugging into them and the power demands that what you plug into them makes on the system.
Not all USB ports or devices are created equal. How many ports are you using? What exactly are you plugging into the ports? What is the power demand of each item that you are plugging into each port? Are any of the USB devices self powered from their own separate power supply? Are all of the devices dependent upon the iMac for power?
It sounds to me that you have too many high power devices demanding more power through the ports than the iMac can accommodate. Is the USB hub self powered? If so, that is probably why it resolves your issue with the Logitech Unified receiver. There is very little info on this device on the Logitech website, so I could not ascertain its power demands.

  • PS3 not compatable with Windows 7??

After struggleing with getting ps3 to work on a new computer purchased just to use ps3 with windows 7 i have just been informed that ps3 does not work in windows 7.
    See attachment.
Has anyone else heard this?  I have been looking at kb's and forums and have not heard that before. I know alot of people are having problems.
If the solution is to get the upgrade to cs4 I will, but dont want to if i can avoid it with cs5 most likely out this spring.
    Any help appreciated.

I am not sure what you have already tried to get it to install.
If you had Vista the install should be the same.
    Try this:
Defrag your hard drive and only install CS3 on C drive (For some reason Photoshop likes it better on C drive).
Open Windows Task manager and ensure no other adobe software is running in the background. If running shut it off.
Any anti-virus software running turn it off. If windows defender is running turn it off.
This may help with the install: When you insert the disk, you don't want to install it, you want to choose explore. Look for the .exe file, right click on that and choose run as admin. If it doesn't start to install and closes out, just click on it again and it will run as admin.
Now you don't want to install everything on the CS3 disk. Choose the other option where you can choose what you want installed. I am not sure about the CS3 disk have adobe reader on it. This is a older version of course and it may not mesh well with Windows 7 during the install. If you see the Reader choose not to install it.
When all this choosing is figured out it should install. I know PS CS4 extended slows down at around 90 percent complete and that seems to be normal. After the install (keep your fingers crossed) is complete reboot. Then after reboot right click on the CS3 icon or the .exe file(whatever you wish to call it), choose properties, look for the compatibility tab and put a check mark in Run as Administrator click apply then ok to close out. Now start the software and go to the help at the top and click on Update (sometimes it is gray but don't worry as it is sometimes slow so just click out of it then back in and it should be ok). Update the software to 10.0.1. When the updates are finished downloading make sure you are closed out of all adobe products. Otherwise nothing will update.
Now if your CS3 was semi installed then borked itself you will have to download the CS3 clean script and the windows installer cleanup utility. You can run the CS3 cleanup up to leverl 3. just type in a 3.
After all the start the install process.
    Hope this works and helps

  • Satellite A500-14K - USB key not recognized with Windows 7

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A500 14K, it was pre-installed for Windows 7.
I have purchased the Windows 7 upgrade: I received one disk for PC upgrade et one disk for windows upgrade. I have launched the first disk, and then the second one.
There was no special error message during these installations.
Since this upgrade, my PC doesn't recognized the USB keys whereas they work perfectly with the previous windows version with this pc .They are normally plug and play usb keys. When I launched the windows update, a driver is found, but the installation failed in error with a message of access problem.
I have check that the firewall doesn't block the access. I have installed the last version of the BIOS
I don't found any similar pb on the forum
    thank you for your help

Not BIOS update but chipset utility.
Problem is that this notebook model is not supported for Windows 7 32bit but for 64bit only.
The same chipset is used on Satellite L500 and it is supported for Windows 7 32 bit so you can try to install THIS chipset utility.

  • One of USB ports not working with wireless mouse USB receiver (MBP mid-2009

    Hi,
I've got a weird problem with one of the USB ports (the one next to SD card slot). I use a Logitech VX Nano (wireless) mouse.
When I plug the usb receiver to the USB port, no device can be detected. But when trying the other USB port, all works fine.
I also tried using a usb extension cable with the USB port (problematic one). All works fine again.
The same happens with windows xp pro.
    Any help appreciated.
