USB port on mini component system

I have a Sony Mini hifi component system with a USB port but I cannot play songs from my ipod. Is there way to do this?

In that case, I guess there's a very good chance that it's a driver-related issue. So the problem may be resolved by getting the latest USB driver for your device.
Wonder where or how to get Sony official drivers? Well, I'd say there're two reliable sources you can use. One is the Sony official website: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/select-system.pl?DIRECTOR=DRIVER ( This link is for the US area), the other is a useful drivers update tool named DriverTuner I've been using for 2 months. I get it from this article http://tinyurl.com/l8leg6g. And you can try either way to update drivers. Good luck.

  • Does it look like iOS 7 upgrade caused original iPhone cords to lose connectivity with car USB port?  Mine broke.

Really frustrating experience given how much we rely on our phones.

If I plug it into a wall outlet, the phone complaints about "Incompatible accessory", but begins charging.  The problem is clearly at the software level, as the charge rate is noticeably slower.

  • I am currently using the firewire port on my macbook pro to record dv from my camera. Can I capture video/audio using my USB port as well?ra

I've been connecting a sony PD170 via firewire to my Macbook pro to record directly using Quicktime pro. Can I use the usb port (and mini audio in) to accomplish this with a camcorder that doesn't have a fire wire port but does have USB out?

It could just be a bad disc - I use Verbatim and have only had one fail in a ten-year time period. Try getting a batch of Verbatims and see if you have any problems. I didn't even know that there were Kodak branded discs...

  • Ipod shuffle shuts down PC when put in USB port

    Hello
I found a discussion on this topic from 2006 but there were no solutions.  Hopefully in 2014 there is someone out there that can help me.
I have successfully synced, loaded and recharged ipod shuffle on PC.  But this week I plugged in my ipod shuffle (early generation) into the USB port to recharge, the system shut down, and I got the "blue screen of death". Windows XP blue screen indicated there was some software or hardware that might cause harm to PC.  I had to close PC by pressing button on tower.  I tried couple more times and got same message.  No harm has been done to PC as far as I can tell.  I used the Safely Remove Hardware device and not sure it worked but removed shuffle.  I did do this 2 or 3 times with same result each time.  Ipod shuffle still works.
    Thanks!

I have found the solution.  I installed the most recent updates and it works now.

  • Where do I find the USB port interfaces?

Which of the elements in the /dev folder are the USB ports? Mine contains to many to post.

I'm sorry, maybe I didn't ask the correct question. I have a library that looks for the USB ports to do communication, Serialio and Java to be specific. I need to use the USB interfaces, which are usually found in /dev correct? And before anyone tells me to go to SerialIO's forums, I'm working on that as well. It seems that the library isn't finding the ports.

  • Mac Mini KVM USB problem prevents boot when using certain USB ports

    Hi,
Just purchased a brand new Mac Mini 2.4 Quad Core to use as a server.
This morning we removed from the box & connected it to our NTI Unimux 16-port KVM. The KVM already has 10 Mac Mini's connected (various vintages, no problems).
We connected the Mini to the KVM using HDMI for video and a USB connector.
The Mini initially refused to boot past the initial white/gray screen. It never got to the Apple or the cog.
However, we found that if the USB cable from the KVM is disconnected, the Mac Mini booted immediately.
Further, the Mini will also boot with an Apple keyboard connected.
So... you may assume that the KVM cable is bad or that there is some firmware compatability issue between the KVM and this new Mac Mini.
    EXCEPT...
This Mini has 4 USB ports.
We found that the Mac Mini can boot with the KVM USB cable connected if the USB cable is connected to USB ports 2 or 4 on the Mac Mini.
If the KVM USB is connected to ports 1 or 3 on the Mini, the Mini will not boot.
The Mac Mini will boot with an Apple USB keyboard installed on any port.
Is there any logical reason for this behavior?
    Thanks,
    b

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I have been unable to sync devices (specifically ipad mini and iphone 4s) to my MId 2013 Imac . They wil rapidly connect and disconnect, and I'm unable to do anything with the device. This happens with both USB ports.  Any suggestions?
MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.9.1)

Obviously, syncing an iOS device with iTunes over USB is still supported in Mavericks. Calendar and contact syncing with iTunes is no longer supported. That has nothing to do with your problem.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

  • How do I play my shuffle through my surround sound system via a USB port?

Help! Love my new shuffle. Would love to play it through my LG surround system that has a USB port on the front. I connected my docking usb with shuffle in and it tells me there is no data. Is it not as simple as this? Don't seem to be able to find any info from the manuals.
    Thanks

Use a cable with 3.5mm mini plug on each end and connect one end to the system's audio-in and the other to the shuffle's earphone jack.
Shuffle doesn't play through USB without a special adaptor that interfaces it to normal iPod "universal" dock connections...

  • DVI to ADC Adapter + Mini DVI to DVI Adapter = usb ports don't work?

I have a 23" Cinema with the ADC plug. I've been using it with the DVI to ADC adapter for many years, though I did not use any of the monitor's usb ports during this time. I recently bought a new Macbook, so now I have am combining a Mini DVI to DVI adapter with the DVI to ADC adapter. The display works fine, but now I find the usb ports on the monitor do not work. I've checked all the pins involved and they are all straight and look normal.
Does this have anything to do with the double adapter situation, or could it just be that the monitor's usb ports are aging and haven't been used in a long time? Or is it possible these ports do not support usb 2.0 devices?

    Thank you Malcolm.
It's true I cannot adjust the display's brightness using the buttons on the monitor. But I can put the Macbook to sleep, both when the adapter's usb cable is plugged in and when it's not.
So if the usb circuitry has gone bad, will this cause me any other problems, or can I just ignore it? Right now I am trying to choose an external hard drive to buy, so I'm taking stock of my available ports. I don't think I'd put a big hard drive on a usb 1.1 port anyways.

  • X1 and USB Port Replicator with digital video - hangs system

    Hi
with the X1 to help with docking it everyday at the office I have a USB Port replicator with digital video. I am not using the digital video but the USB ports, head phone and mics plus ethernet.
When I plug it in it detects it OK, I then installed the software. But after reboot it looks to stall when logging into windows, screen flickers back and forth and locks up the operating system. I unlplug it and reboot and window is working fine.
Note as I mentioned I am not using the digital output but instead using an external monitor via the display port on the back of the laptop.
Also its is very slow to boot (Lenovo bios splash screen is there for about a minute)
I have gone into the bios and turned off all other bootable devices just leaving the laptops hard drive.
As a work around I have removed the software and I am getting the basic functionality of the port replicator, but not the ethernet.
I have run the update manager but does not appear to show a need to update the drivers.
    Model X1 (1293-CTO)
    Windows 7

Hi, I have this same exact problem.
Video (anything from youtube to downloaded shows, movies) will freeze for 5-7 seconds at a time. The sound continues to play while the video is 'frozen', and the video resumes after that.
It will happen on its own, with no bumping, but it is more prone to happen if I do something like increase the volume within the media player.
    Any suggestions are much appreciated!

  • How to DIY-repair fried USB ports on Mac mini?

Accidentally I fried (or so it seems) all the four USB ports of a Mac mini 2 GHz Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz 2 GB 160 GB SuperDrive AirPort Extreme Bluetooth (released by Apple on August 2007) with Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. It was after connecting an iPhone AD/DC to power a USB hub.
I can access the machine using a wireless keyboard but the USB keybord or any other USB device is not recognized when plugged into the USB ports of such Mac mini.
I know that I can carry the Mac mini to a repair service or switching the main logic board, but it costs more than the current price of the machine!
I was thinking of some kind of DIY, even if it requires soldering... Any ideas to replace the fried USB ports with new ones?
Note: the USB ports and main logic board seem OK after visual inspection, but I guess that the former are fried since resetting the PRAM and SMC did not work.
    Thanks.

DIY soldering repairs are pretty much out of the question.
Most, if not all, IC's that would be related to the problem
are of the BGA (ball grid array) variety and require special
equipment to remove and replace as all the connections
    are under the IC.
The only DIY alternative would be to purchase a logic board
and replace it yourself.  Just Google "mac mini logic board
replacement" for sources and how to's.  Apple themselves,
will not sell you logic boards, so you need to get it from a
third party vendor.  As to which ones are are the most reputable,
I cannot really say.  I would suggest avoiding any Ebay offers
    that are not reputable retailers.
As usual, be aware that if a price on such an item is too
good to be true, it probably isn't.

  • Using my Mini on USB port of DVD to play music

I just bought a new Samsung DVD player that has a USB port to play back MP3, however, when I attach the mini to it I get the message "do not disconnect" and the DVD can not read my music files.
Any advice or help would be so welcome.
    Thanks,
    Andrea

"There isn't an aac to mp3 converter in iTunes"
That is incorrect. If you have selected the format of mp3 in the importing options, then highlight all your songs in iTunes, use the "advanced/convert to mp3" option, or right click on the songs and select "convert to mp3". This will create a duplicate of all your songs in mp3 format, so you will have to delete the aac ones if you no longer want them, and of course you'll have to transfer the mp3 songs to your iPod.
However, what iTunes will not do is convert the songs purchased from the iTunes MS, as these aac songs are DRM protected. The way to get around this is to burn these songs to an audio cd, then import this cd into iTunes as you would any other.
Please note that converting songs in both the methods I've mentioned, will compress an already compressed file, and as a result you may notice a reduction in sound quality, although this may not be sufficient to bother you.
"I understand that mp3 format takes up more space on the iPod as well"
Again, this isn't so. The same song imported in either mp3 or aac at the same settings gives a file size that is almost identical.

  • Apple store says ipod mini not working b/c not using usb port 2.0 - true?

My ipod mini (a year old) is frozen/can't be charged. Apple store guy said because I've been using usb port 1.1 and that it is supposed to be used with usb port 2.0. Tells me won't send in for replacement (out of warranty anyway) unless I first update my computer with USB 2.0 card. Is this true?

It's better to use 2.0 because it's faster.
Try resetting it, hold the center [select] button and the menu button until the Apple logo appears. or let the battery die, and then plug it in.
