USB Ports on HP Pavilion 15-e087nr Laptop Not Working

I have a HP Pavilion 15-e087nr Laptop running Windows 8.1. It has 3 USB ports and all of sudden they stopped working. It will not detect my wireless mouse, a USB corded mouse that I have or my phone when I plug it in. I checked Device Manager and under USB Devices it shows a number of choices and none of them have any errors showing so it appears the computer is seeing the ports. However, nothing works when plugged into them. Anyone have any ideas for fixing this issue? I've tried to uninstall them with no luck.
I appreciate any help that can be provided.
Thanks

Have you tried restarting the laptop? Many times we get simply put the machine to sleep or hibernate- a full shutdown/restart can help with usb problems.
You might also try disabling "USB Selective suspend" in your Power Options plan.

    Hi Auracles1,
Here's a pretty discussion regarding wireless printing with this device and a Mac.

I have a similar OfficeJet and it was a multi-step process. (1) Install printer drivers on the machine, (2) Add the printer queue in print & fax, (3) Run the "setup wizard" from the disc for wireless printing.

    Hi,
I purchased Huawei Dongle and trying to connect with my new MacBook Pro (OS- Mountain Lion) USB port 3.0 but unfortunately it does not support.
When I plugged in my macbook the power is flowing in dongle due green light blinking twice in every 3 sec but no connection found or diver shown.
Please let me know how I have to use it. I got some suggestion for USB hub 2.0 but It does not make any sense and driver installation.
So please suggest proper direction to use it and provide link to install any driver.
    Thanks

Yes Clinton I did same, but they were (Huawei customer support) surprised about this problem, They behave like they have no idea about USB 2.0 and  3.0 knowledge. They handsUp that reason I posted my problem in this forum.
So is there any better solution to use any mediator between these USB version handling, Please let me know.
    Thanks

HP Pavilion Volume Touch-Pad NOT WORKING
I have an HP Pavilion dv3t - 2000, Windows Vista computer.
SOMEONE DID ALREADY HELP ME HERE WITH THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY STOPPED RESPONDING | Please check that link out!
The volume touchpad above the keyboard is not working properly (There is no sound coming out of the speakers or the headphone jack) , If you touch the megaphone part of the touchpad above the keyboard then it stays red, however the sound icon on the taskbar changes from mute to unmuted when you touch the red megaphone. The volume slider on the touchpad works suprisingly.
I don't know if I uninstalled something or what but I need this problem fixed!
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and remove the battery.
Follow the procedure detailed on Page 63 of your Maintenance & Service Guide to remove the RTC battery.  Hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
Leave the notebook for 10 minutes and then re-insert the RTC battery, re-assemble and replace the cover, insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as soon as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
If you still have no audio and the installer you downloaded previously still doesn't detect the Hardware, it would start to look like a Hardware failure, but to try and rule out any further software cause, try the following.
Follow the procedure on the link below to create a bootable Ubuntu CD and follow the steps in Part 3 to 'Try it' to see if this OS will run.  The 'Try it' option runs the OS from the CD without the need to install on your HDD.  If this runs Ok ( it will be slow running from a CD ) and you still have no audio output, this would tend to confirm a Hardware issue.

  • Re: 2 two usb ports on left side of my hp pavilion g6 2230 is not working

    Hi,
Is your notebook still in warranty?  Warranty status check webpage
If some ports work and others do not, then it is quite likely that the issue is hardware related. Replacing the system board would be required to resolve the issue. If the issue were operating system or driver related, then no usb ports would work.
As a workaround you can use a powered external usb hub.  If you use an unpowered hub then you are quite likely to kill another port. You must have used a usb device that drew more current (in µA).  The same thing happens to motherboards in PCs, so don't feel lonely.  You can see what I mean about the power limits of usb ports in the following image. Go into the device manager and check your usb ports power availability and power required.
    Best regards,

    Dear Sir,
I read your answer. You said that if one USB port is working, others should also work. Thus this could be hardware related problem.
Fortunately I have ubuntu also installed as second operating system.
The left usb ports are working on the Ubuntu system. Thus we can conclude that hardware is perfect.
Now with above reference, can you please guide on how can the left USB ports can also funtion?
    Regards,

  • USB Ports on Macbook Pro (Late 2011) no longer working...

    Hey all,
I know there are numurous posts on this but none have seemed to help me.
Today both of my USB ports have stopped working. Two months ago the one next to the thunderbolt port would go in and out and today both of them just don't work at all except to supply power. I can still charge my phone with them but thats it, nothing is recognized when I plug it in.
I've tried the PRAM reset, the SMC reset, manual reset, regular reset, updating the OSX to the latest and nothing has helped. I've read I might have to replace the logic board but I really hope I don't have to resort to that.
I've posted the reports from the System Information and an app called Etrecheck. Hopefully someone will be able to pinpoint the issue.

    Thanks for the response,
    1. I live in Atlanta, close enough to an Apple store. But I just know that going there will probably mean I'll have to get the logic board replaced.
    2. The only thing I noticed before the first USB port started acting funny was that my battery status changed to "Service Battery". I plan on replacing it this week too.
    3. Nope only difference is that my battery drains kind of fast. After about 3-4 hours of my normal usuage with it (Internet, music, videos, and sometimes using Logic) it will be time to hook up the charger.
Would replacing the battery do anything? I'm not thinking it would but figure it'd be worth a shot since I've got to replace it anyway.
    And to goofyziggy,
I too noticed that most people who had this problem had some version of OSX 10.8.x

  • Purchased a 2012 Chevy truck and want to play my older i pod through the radio system. when I plug the i pod in the USB port the radio displays that it does not recognize the divece. What can I do to play the i pod on the truck radio?

Need help getting 2012 Chevy truck radio system to recognize my older i pod when I plug it into the USB port. Can anyone give me advice? Thanks

First, check the manual or specification online, to see if your iPod model is supported.  That USB port may be for plugging in a generic USB flash drive with song files on it.  Or it may only support more recent iPods.
Also, if it has an auxiliary audio input port (it would look like the headphones jack on iPod), you can use something like this to connect your iPod
    http://www.amazon.com/Monster-iCable-Player-Auxiliary-Input/dp/B002AR5XIK
and just use your iPod to "play through" the car audio system.

  • Why will my usb cable to charge my ipod touch on my laptop not work?!?!?

Then I plug my USB cable into two of my USB ports it says it does not recognize my charger USB cable. But then when I put it in my other one it recognizes it!!! What happened?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Perhaps the USB port is damaged somehow. Does any other device have a problem with the same USB port?
By the way, this is a worldwide forum, not a chat room. Therfore, if you post something, don't expect a reply within five minutes. (That's how long it took before you posted again to ask "does anyone know".) That's just unreasonable!

  • Toshiba Satelite L505D-GS6000 usb ports, sd card reader and speakers don't work

    OK..
I do not know much about computers and hope that I can find help here.. I had problems with my laptop yesterday to the point where it wouldn't let me do anything. I took it to Bestbuy and the told me that parts of teh computer was disabled. At the time all I realized that all I realized that was disabled was the ability to connect to the internet. I have since found that the touch portion of the mouse does not work. The laptop says that it does not have speakers. I am not able to use the sd card reader or the usb inputs either. I am guessing that somewhere on the computer there is somewhere that I can change the settings and set it up so that these functions are not disabled... Any input that can be offered would be appreciated.. Please keep in mind that I do not know a whole heck of a lot about computers..

Best to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. If it doesn't work right then, you probably have a hardware failure.
See the section Recovering the Internal Storage Drive, which begins on p. 61 of the User's Guide.
