Usb power settings

Is there somewhere you can access the power settings for the usb ports so they cannot be put to sleep or powered down as on a PC. I just bought a 7 port external usb hub with an ac plug to provide power to the ports when I have had two drives plugged into it I get an error message saying that one of the drives has been improperly ejected. Specifically when I am transferring photos to Photoshop Lightroom and am spending time on each photo adjusting it or sending it to HDR Efex Pro and I am not accessing the drives.

There are several reports of similar problems, all of which predate that hub's latest version:

It appears that Uspeed upgraded its power supply from 2A to 3A last month. If your power supply is not rated 3A that is almost certainly the cause of this problem. Exchanging it for a new one will probably fix things for you.

  • [865PE/G Neo2 Series] Memory timings and power settings anyone?

I'm not very good with computers, so I've just played around with the timings on my memory, but have not found one stable setting as of yet.
The memory is brand new and I've tested it for errors on my brothers computer and there's nothing wrong there.
Intensive harddrive usage, dvd playing and intense downloading while listening to music are sure ways to crash my system. "..........Not less or equal" is the most common error message, but there are
    many many more.
Oh, maybe I should point out that overheating's not an issue, cause I've good fans and run my computer without sidepanels.
I also like to say that I have the first generation of p4 with ht and 533fsb.
I'm sure there's something I forgot to mention but here below I'll paste the system summary that Sandra gave me.
Would be forever grateful if someone could help me out with the memory timings and power settings for my board. Setting it to "auto by spd" gives me a very unstable system, so no avail there.
I'm running the mem at 2.70 and sometimes at 2.65, since these two settings seem to be the ones with least crashes.
    The Memory installed are 4*512mb ,kingston 512 kvr333x64c25 pc2700
    The PSU is a Tagan "TG480-u01" 480w
Many many thanks in advance guys.

  • HT4060 My I pad 2 is not charging throuh USB Power Adapter but it is chrging from computer through USB (with sign of no charging). Would  you please give any solution for that?

I have facing problem of charging my I pad through USB power adapter. It is not giving any response when connected to power adapter. When it is connected with USB port of computer it is charging with sign of "not charging" and it takes long time to cahrge. please help me to sove my problem.

I have no idea why the iPad would not be charging with another power adapter but will charge thought the USB port on your computer. Try rebooting the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up
If that doesn't help, I think that the next thing that I would try would be to reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. If you do this, all device settings will have to be re-entered and tha does take some time to do.

  • U410 Power Settings

    Hi,
I have a lenovo IdeaPad U410 bought in February of 2012.
After updating to 8.1 sometime in February, my laptop slowly started getting wonky. Exams eventually came and decided to take care of the issue in the summer.
It wouldn't restart, shut down or sleep whenever I clicked it and if it did, I just got lucky. I had all windows updates and driver updates, so there was no issues there.
Anyways I did a quick Google search and found under change occurs settings < recovery < refresh pc without deleting files, so I did this but I still have the same power settings messed up. Now I backed up all my files and did a total reformat but the problem still exists. I have also tried to go into UEFI settings but it consistently messes up by freezing at restarting screen and I'm scared of force shutting down so often.
Can someone offer a solution? I am entirely fed up with this pc especially after requiring an external USB wifi dongle for better speeds, as well as being faulty just over a year in use.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thano in advance,
    Tony

    hi HongYau,
If you currently have a Windows 8
It is adviseable to first Run the Windows update, all that's available, Then Upgrade it to Windows 8.1
             the drivers will updated automatically.
    Is your system still freezing?
    Regards
    Solid Cruver

    Hi,
That should not be happening. Maybe you should take it back to where you bought it.
Download and read the User Guide at this site: https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/id917482340
    Good luck.

  • K9A platinum and USB power.

So, This Christmas I decided to give my HTPC a M-play 202 plus as a little nice extra feature.
It is a Display module with IR-receiver and remote, and it has the nice feature of Remote power-on. This of course achieved by routing the power-switch cable through it.
But, this of course requires that the M-play 202 has operating power in itself, through USB.
Now, I have 10 computers at home, including a few other MSI-boards, and while some of them do not by default provide USB-power when switched off, all of them either have BIOS-settings or a Motherboard jumperswitch for this. The K9A platinum has neither. The other motherboards that does not show settings for this all have power on USB as default.
So, What am I missing? Where is my USB-power when the computer are switched off?
I can solve this by changing the M-play 202 plus USB-cable from internal type to an external and simply route it through an powered USB2 hub. But this is a very ugly solution.
Anyway, just writing this in hopes that there is something obvious I am missing here that will solve this.
    Best Regards
    Bo Eriksson

Try sticky thread...power-on-usb keyboard....it might be what you need.

  • Tecra A3 does not work after changing power settings

I changed my power settings in my tecra a3 laptop and now it won't start properly. wants to start but just keeps going back to press F2 or F12 please help.

    Hi,
where did you changed them? In the BIOS or in the Toshiba HW-setup?
I would suggest you to go to the bios after powering up your machine. You must just hit F2 ant then in the bios search for the setting "setting everything to default" or something with "bios setup defaults" to reset your bios settings.
After that your machine should boot up again.

  • How to change power settings?

My G series Windows 8, 64-bit laptop keeps going to sleep after about 2 minutes while plugged in.  I changed the power settings via Windows 8 (by personalizing desktop and / or clicking on battery).  But it still keeps happening.  Is there another setting I need to change specific to Lenovo?  It's annoying as all get out, and frankly a little ridiclous I need to waste time tracking this down.
    Thank you.

There are a couple of free utilities that purport to intercept the power key, but neither of them work for me with Mavericks and a 15" Retina MacBook Pro:
    PowerKey
PowerBlock – I thought it might work with Mavericks contrary to what the site says because someone posted in another forum implying that it works with Mavericks.
AFAIK, Keyboard System Preferences cannot change the keyboard shortcut for the power key.
It'd be great if Apple gave us a way to prevent accidental Sleep, which can be a killer when doing something mission critical. I'm pondering removing the physical key altogether…

  • Ipod shuffle 2nd gen does not charge on new 5W USB power adapter

    Hi,
my perfectly functional ipod shuffle 2nd gen with original dock will not charge with the new Continental Europe 5W USB power adapter, even though the specs of the power adapter include the 2nd generation shuffle. Shuffle will blink orange three times, longer than normal blinking, and then do nothing. probably nothing I can do about it, but worth a note. The US model of the new 5W adapter does not include the 2nd gen shuffle, so maybe it is an error on the apple specs page.
Maybe the 2nd gen needs more than 5W to charge?

indeed, it needs the bigger 12 Watt Adapter and the apple site is wrong.

  • IPod Nano (4th Generation) switches on when connected to USB power - shows Menu & hangs (unresponsive to click wheel) - deems off after 5-sec - Switches off after disconnecting from USB Power - syncs with iTunes - Tried 5R's - Problem still persists

    1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
    2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use,
    3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.
    4. After  5-sec to 10-secs the screen deems off.. i.e. goes to sleep mode.. And thereafter would probably remain like that (sleeeping) for eternity!!!!
    5. It Switches off after WITHOUT DISPLAYING any Apple Logo immediately after disconnecting from USB Power.
    6. In other words, it can be switched on only through USB power in spite of battery being fully charged.
    7. Interestingly, it syncs with iTunes. It is recognised in iTunes (Latest version 11+).. Displays on screen all commands Like.. syncronising, connecting, connected,
    8. Allows to add Music, videos like a normal ipod & displays all status information in iTunes.
    9. Read Trobleshooting & Tried all 5R's. Registered, Resetted, updated & Restored to iOS 1.0.2
    10. It is now displaying to select Language in place of Menu options, with no access through click wheel, centre button whatsoever... Problem still persists
KINDLY GUIDE ME THE SOLUTION. APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE in advance...

"I get the feeling that this is a software issue that could probably be solved quite easily"
Since you have already tried all the normal troubleshooting solutions, take the iPod to your nearest Apple Store for a *proper diagnosis.* The staff there will be able to confirm if your problem is software or hardware _*at no cost to you.*_

  • New iPod touch 5th generation charger won't work with computers or USB power adapter?

I just got this charger less than two weeks ago and just yesterday it started saying "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work on this iPod." It will only work on some occasions, but most of the time it won't. Other times it will show that it is charging, but when I select to "Trust" my computer it stops charging. When I plug it into the USB power adapter, it rarely works (even when I try it in different outlets.) Any way to solve this issue?

If a non-Apple cable and the place will not take it back then:

  • IPod Nano + USB Power Adapter (+ Universal Dock)

    Hi,
I've got an iPod Nano and a USB Power Adapter to charge it. Untill a few days ago it went fine, even with my Universal Dock between them. But since 2 days my iPod only charges when I put the Power adapter direcly into the wall plug, but with my Hi-Fi installation I'll have to use it with a multiple socket.
Does anybody know why and how to get round this?
    Thanks

possibly a fuse blown in the multiple socket plug?? or even in the power adapter itself

  • Using USB Power Adator in S. Korea

Traveling to S. Korea and wondering if I can go ahead and plug in my iPhone using the usb power adaptor that came with my iPhone. Of course, I will get a plug adaptor for their odd looking plug ins. I think I remember plugging in my MacBook Pro and iPod no problem last time.
Any good tips on what features to shut off so ATT doesn't charge me thousands of dollars during my 3 week stay?
    Thanks in advance.

There is no problem using the adapter in South Korea. It is dual voltage, so it will automatically work for you.
Have a good trip and enjoy your iphone...

  • Using usb power to charging

using usb power to charging ipod touch battery life will lasting long or not ?

It doesn't matter, as long as the power source provides the correct voltage, be that a USB port on a computer or USB power adapter.

  • Travel Adapter and iPod USB Power Adapter

I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but this is all new to me so please bear with me I just bought an iPod video, a World Travel Adapter kit and the Power Duo kit - which contains a power block wall charger, USB mini cable, and car charger. I was looking at the plugs in the travel kit and do not see how they work. The product data says that it works with the USB power adapter - which at this point I am assuming is different than the power block wall charger? Can someone verify this for me? Also, can someone then tell me how these travel adapters plug into the USB power adapter (or power block wall charger) so that they can be used when traveling overseas. I can't tell from the photo of the USB adapter how this would be done...I don't want to buy yet another power adapter if I don't need one, but I sure can't see how they work with what I have so far or how they would work with the USB power adapter..I would have thought that the travel kit would have some with everything that I need but apparently it doesn't.
    Thanks in advance.

Now I have hooked it up to a PC without itunes on it. The ipods says it is charging but when you disconnect you can see that the battery level is even lower. Does this mean that I should just take back the ipod to exchange it for a working one?
