Hi,
It seems there is no such serial port to USB converter in use. Anyway, you can attempt to contact hardware manufacturer as Rick Dee suggested.
Thanks!

    What's the precise text of that error message please? (There's a few different ones I can think of that you might be getting.)

  • Box asking if Mozilla Firefox can make changes to the computer harddrive

    A box appeared on the screen asking if Mozilla Firefox can make changes to the computer harddrive. I contacted Trend Micro Security and they said Mozilla Firefox wouldn't want to make changes on my harddrive. I have just paid for a technician to remove viruses on my computer so I am now very suspicious of anyone who wants to change the harddrive. Trend Micro again cleared my computer of viruses but I want to know if the box requesting to make changes came from Mozilla.

  • I'm installing a printer on a MacBook Air via USB connected DVD drive.  The computer asks for my password.  I don't hink we ever had one.  Is there a default password ("admin"

    I'm installing a printer on a MacBook Air using an external DVD drive via USB.  The computer is asking for my password to authorize changes to the system.  I don't htink I ever put one on the computer and "admin" and "password" don't work.  Is there a default password?  Or a way to change a password that has been forgotten, wothout resetting the computer and wiping everything out?  Thanks.

    Many thanks.  As it happens, I wen to the local Apple Store today for an appointment with a "genius".  She helped me reset the password. And as I look at the screens on the page that you connected me to, they're the same as the genius used.  So your suggesstion was right on the money, and now I'm all set.  Thanks again.

  • USB Charging - dead halt when the computer goes dormant?

    Hello all.
    I've had an iPhone 3G since late August. I normally charge my phone through a USB port on my iMac. This has, until now, always produced the desired result of a fully charged phone. I recently downloaded the most current software update. Since then, when the computer goes into energy saver the charging stops. Instead of picking up a fully charged phone on my way out the door to work, it's often at half or three-quarter charge. Charging resumes normally once the computer is woken.
    Has anyone else had this trouble? Any thoughts? It's easily solved by hooking it up to a wall socket...but I'd rather leave it hooked to the Mac. Any help is appreciated.

    Note sure what has changed, but the following was copied from this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1476
    Connect the device to your computer (not your keyboard) using the included cable to charge the battery and sync. Your computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If the device is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the battery may drain.
    Note: If using a portable computer, make sure it is plugged into power and that the lid or display is open. If the lid is closed, the computer may go into standby, sleep, or hibernation mode and iPhone or iPod touch may not charge.

  • Is it safe to plug and unplug USB and Firewire cables with the computer on?

    Is it safe to plug and unplug USB and Firewire cables with the computers on? I have a Mac G4 and a newly purchased IMac and I use one printer for both computers. Should I shut down the computers when I unplug the printer and connect to the other computer? How about when switching firewire drives.
    Is there an easy way to have both computers connected to the same printer? I have an Epson 1280 printer.

    Yes, you can unplug a printer without shutting down the computer, but if you are switching the printer to another computer then you should first turn off the printer, unplug it, re-connect to the other computer, then turn on the printer. This will assure that the printer will be properly recognized.
    If you have your computers networked via Ethernet then you can leave the printer connected to one computer and share it with the other via the network connection. Printer sharing is turned on using the Sharing preference in System Preferences. You will need to Add the printer on both computers so you will need the appropriate printer driver installed on both computers.

  • Wireless mouse with no USB or wire connecting to the computer

    Hi,
    I was on my computer when suddenly my wireless HP mouse stopped working
    I put in new batteries connected it but it wouldn't work. The red light is working and it is perfectly fine but it is not connecting to the computer.
    Please can you help.

    Do you have another computer handy to test it on? This would give us a better idea if it is an issue with the actual mouse or the software.

    Hi. I want to fetch computer's serial number. For this i m using the following code in cocoa objective c.
    This is using a carbon API. so i have included the following lines in my code

    machportt masterPort;
    kernreturnt kr = noErr;

    NSString* str = nil;
    kr = IOMasterPort (MACHPORTNULL, &masterPort);
    if( kr != noErr )
    goto cleanup;
    entry = IORegistryGetRootEntry ( masterPort );
    if( entry == MACHPORTNULL )
    goto cleanup;
    prop = IORegistryEntrySearchCFProperty (entry, kIODeviceTreePlane, CFSTR("serial-number"), nil, kIORegistryIterateRecursively);
    if( prop == nil )
    goto cleanup;
    propID = CFGetTypeID( prop );
    if( propID != CFDataGetTypeID() )
    goto cleanup;
    const char* buf = [(NSData*)prop bytes];
    int len = [(NSData*)prop length],
    x;
    char secondPart[256];
    char firstPart[256];
    char* currStr = secondPart; // Version number starts with second part, then NULLs, then first part.
    int y = 0;
    for( x = 0; x < len; x++ )
    if( buf[x] > 0 && (y < 255) )
    currStr[y++] = buf[x];
    else if( currStr == secondPart )
    currStr[y] = 0; // Terminate string.
    currStr = firstPart;
    y = 0;
    currStr[y] = 0; // Terminate string.
    str = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"%s%s", firstPart, secondPart];
    cleanup:
    machportdeallocate( machtaskself(), masterPort );
    return str;
    But it is generating following errors for the lines which i have shown underline to that words in the above code

  • Retina MacBook Pro fan very loud and usb mouse disconnecting when restarting the computer

    2 days ago, I got a brand new retina MacBook Pro 13 inch with the specs 2.8 GhZ i7, 8 gigs of ram and 512gb ssd. It should definitely be functioning properly since it's a really expensive computer, but I already noticed a few problems that I hope you can  help me with.
    So first of all, when I play World of Warcraft, the fan seems to go up to 6000rpm and is very loud. I checked the activity monitor and it says WoW is using about 60% CPU, so it shouldn't have to be that loud. I also installed smcfancontrol, but it doesn't seem to lower the speed of the fan.
    I ran an apple diagnostics test and it couldn't find any problems, and I also tried resetting my smc, but the fan is still going very loud.
    And the second problem I have is, that when I have my mouse usb connected to my Mac, and I restart it, it can't detect the mouse anymore. So I'd have to pull out the usb plug and put it back in everytime I turn on my computer. isn't it supposed to automatically connect to my mouse when it's already plugged in?

    Matt,
    Try reading this, then go to the section on Resetting the SMC for a Macbook Pro with a battery you should not remove.

  • TS3212 User Account control is asking me " Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? then it asks me to type an administrator password - ?

    What Username and password is the User Account Control program asking for to complete the 10.7 download on my PC? It asks do you want to allow he following program to make changes to your computer.

    The updated version of iTunes is a change to your computer, and the computer is trying to protect itself against unauthorised changes that could damage it (in other words, hacking, trojans, viruses etc.).
    On your computer, you are using a User Account; imagine that it's your part of the computer. Each user on the computer is either an administrator (who can make changes) or a non-adminstrator (who cannot make changes) to the computer itself.
    Do other people use the computer as well, such as your parents, who may have restricted your ability to change programmes on the computer?
    Or is the computer at, and owned by, your school, or in an office? If so, their computer department has created an account on the computer for you to use, but not change.
    In either of the above scenarios, your account will be a non-administrator account. If it's your parents' machine, perhaps they have an administrator's account.
    If you are the only user of the computer, or there is only the one account on it, then presumably, the administrator password is one that you have set up.

  • SOLVED USB Printer Driver for HP Laserjet 3500 for Windows 7

    Actually this is not a question, it is a solution.
    Download the Laserjet 3500 driver for Vista
    Run the file, let it unzip to your hard drive
    Go to Start\Devices and Printers\Add Printer\Add a Local Printer
    Create a New Port\Standard TCPIP Port
    Choose a bogus ip, something that does not ping. Uncheck the "Query the Printer"
    The computer will try to detect the IP port that does not exist.
    At the "Additional Port Information Required" screen, choose next.
    The next page will install the printer driver, choose  "Have Disk" and browse to the folder that the Vista driver was unziped
    Mine was c:\HP CLJ3500, choose the inf file that appears and the computer will install the driver.
    Next,, Plug in your USB cord and Viola! The computer will load the printer and driver and create the USB port.
    The computer might ask you to use the existing driver, if so, say yes,, of course.
    Sammy

    My Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit system has a built-in driver for this printer model:
    I don't know whether the driver is present on a fresh Windows install; it may only have appeared in the list after the Windows Update button was clicked on the above Add Printers dialogue, then waiting (perhaps for several minutes) whilst additional drivers were downloaded, and the list repopulated.
    I'd assume that the same might be true of earlier Windows versions as well.

  • USB flash drive not recognized by computer. Have tried all options of which I can think.

    Okay.  I have a Patriot S-Mini 32GB flash drive that my Windows 8.1 HP Slimline 400-434 is not recognizing. I believe it recognized it once, and has refused to do so since. My laptop (Windows 7 Toshiba) recognizes it just fine.
    All other USB devices function perfectly on this computer. USB mouse/keyboard/USB Hub/Apple iPhone cable.
    1. I have tried unplugging all other USB devices before trying this one. FAIL
    2. I have gone to Device Management and the USB drive does not appear in the list. FAIL
    3. I have uninstalled the USB Root Hubs and restarted the computer. FAIL
    4. I have tried plugging the USB drive into the rear ports that plug directly into the motherboard. FAIL
    5. I have updated the drivers, and have been unable to find a BIOS update as the link on the HP website downloads and says that it is incompatible for my computer. FAIL
    ...so what the bloody gorram heck do I do now?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Okay, and in the most ridiculous way I have ever solved a technical problem...
    The USB flash cannot be inserted ALL the way into the port. It has to be inserted slowly, so that the contacts line up.
    I figured this out by trying to connect it into my USB hub and noticing that the red indicator light was going on and off as I inserted the USB drive, flickering on as I inserted it and then off once it was all the way in.
    Weird. But hey. It works now.
