i just recieved my Zen Xtra 30gb today. after installing all the software, NOMAD Explorer doesn't recognize that my player is hooked up. Windows recognizes that something is in the USB port, but doesn't know what it is. it claims the device is not working properly. i tested the USB port with a game controller, and its working fine, so it must be either the USB cable or the Zen Xtra itself. my guess is the latter.
Its EXTREMELY frusterating to not even be able to use a product i paid so much money for.

Try a disk cleanup on the player, and make sure you have the latest drivers from Nomadworld.com downloads.
There's lots more connection troubleshooting advice here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.
A good thing to test if you can is to use the Zen with another PC to see if the Zen is definitely at fault.

Zen Neeon 6GB (USB Probl

Hi,
I bought a zen neeon 6gb a few days ago. There were no problems at first but now.......
When I plug it into my laptop, it's as if nothing was plug in!
Same thing when I used the desktop in my office, I've changed another usb cable, I've pushed the reset button & nothing seems to work. Downloaded "Zen Neeon Firmware .0", also didn't work.
So what now? I'm still waiting for the support team to reply my email.

Does the player turn on, or doesn't it respond at all? Was the battery run down all the way?
Regarding your e-mail, did you use the form on the website, and did get an auto-response back? You should always get an automated e-mail back with some tips, if they don't help, check over the e-mail as you generally need to reply to that to let them know, so someone will deal with you directly.

Zen MicroPhoto USB probl

ok?I need help on some stuff......when I plug my Zen MicroPhoto into the USB Port cord into the computer it says that it's charging but the Docked screen doesn't show up. So what should I do? Please message me back about what I should do!!

It will only show the docked screen if you are running a program that is accessing the device such as Media Explorer or Media Source.

Zen 20gb USB probl

Just bought this item and im in love with it :P
it works perfectly, it just causes problems for other devices plugged into USB such as mouse and keyboard.
when i plug the zen into the USB, the mouse will not work. to resolve this i plugged the mouse into the PS/2 port.
although now with just the keyboard plugged into the USB, plugging the zen in will cause the keyboard to not work.
i checked what the zen was using in the Usb hub thing and it said 440mA out of a total 500mA. not sure if this has anything to do with it, im guessing this is due to recharging and transfering etc.
If i replug the keyboard in whilst zen is in, it will say unknown device found and malfunctioned, to get the keyboard to work again i have to have the zen unplugged and replug the keyboard to find it.
im using the SiS chipset on my motherboard and never had any problems before.

It sounds like it's more a PC problem than a Zen problem, in that it can't supply sufficient power. If this is the case then you are looking at double checking you have the latest BIOS and USB chipset drivers, in case it's a software issue. Or perhaps at getting a PCI USB2 card or a powered hub.

Zen Micro USB proble

Okay, I have this problem, and I have looked through all the topics, and found problems similar to mine, but the answers are just unclear to me. I guess you could say I am bad with technology, so I don't understand a lot of things.. So if you could help me, and maybe explain everything simply, I would greatly, GREATLY, appreciate it.
Okay, I just got the Zen Micro today, and I installed everything. When I connected the Zen to the USB cord however, a little pop up in the bottom right-hand corner of my screen appeared. It said, " A HI-SPEED USB device is plugged into a non-HI-SPEED USB hub."
I have no idea what this means, or HOW I can fix this.
ALSO.. When I try to download the playforsure software.. A little pop appears again, saying, " Easy Start CD requires Service Pack or later to install on Windows XP. "
Once again, what is the Service Pack and where do I get this?

. It sounds like you don't have a USB2 port on your computer. The Zen should still transfer files, just a lot slower. You can get a USB @ card installed for not too much money. It's quite simple to do.
2. Service Pack & 2 are updates for Windows XP. You can get them at Windows Update.

Help with USB Device & ipod

GAH I am about to pull my freakin hair out. I accidently turned off my computer with my ipod still plugged in. Now when I turned the computer back on it's saying that the USB port isn't recognized and it won't let me reinstall it? I've went thru the troubelshooting page about 50 times and still nothing will work! I tried restarting my ipod but it's completely froze; the screen is stuck where it says Music, Photos, Videos, etc. and it won't turn off or on! Can anyone help me out? It'd be much appreciated because I really want to start using my ipod again. If you could e-mail me your suggestions at: [email protected] that would be great. Thanks a bunch!

Yes I tried restarting my ipod but it's still frozen! I tried holding down Menu and the play buttons like the website says to do but it's not responding at all! If anyone knows how to fix the USB proble that's what I need...thanks for the reply tho Senior!

Mon disque dur USB Freecom 500 GO ne monte pas ???
Par contre un autre disque dur Freecom en 320 GO monte sans soucis
J'ai fait l'essai avec le disque Freecom 500 GO sous un Imac sous Lion ... Il ne monte pas !
J'ai fait le même essai avec un Mac Mini sous Snow Leopard est le disque monte.
Dernier test, j'ai pris mon disque Freecom 500 GO que j'ai mis sur un Hub USB (alim. Ext.) et le disque monte sous Lion ??? !!!! ????
Est-ce que quelqu'un à le même problème que moi ou mieux... la solution

Le problème provient directement de NI-MAX. Quelle version de NI-VISA et de LabVIEW avez-vous? Avez-vous installé ou reinstallé la dernière version de NI-VISA?

Problème Disque dur Western Digital My Passport Essential 1 To USB 3.0

J'ai acheté un hdd Western Digital My Passport Essential 1 To USB 3.0 / USB 2.0 Silver.

Le problème est le suivant : Le disque n'est pas visible, alors j'ai regardé dans le gestionnaire de périphérique un point exclamation d'affiche jaune en disant "WD SES Device USB Device".
Je suis aller sur le site Western Digital pour recherche le driver, après avoir lancer la rechercher il n'y aucun driver disponible en tapant le P/N.
Si quelqu'un pourrait m'aider à résoudre ce problème.

Le problème était le fichier système formaté sous mac. *Les partitions étaient en mac os x étendu.* Windows ne pouvait lire ce système de fichiers.
Alors on essayé différentes file system. *Il faillait choisir MS-DOS (FAT32) pour mac et Windows.*
Après ce formatage nous avons essayé sur un machine Windows vista ou 7. Maintenant ça marche.

Creative Zen USB and File transfer probl

Am the unhappy owner of a brand new Creative Zen touch 20gb mp3 player which apparently works with usb 2.0. After installing the software which came on the cd (file transfer software and nomad explorer) the Zen appears to get recognised by the pc with no problems when i connect via the usb cable. The Zen also displays 'docked' which is all very well. However if i select say 0 tracks to download to the player the xp progress bar seems to halt at around 60-70% and eventually the program (nomad) complains that the operation cannot be completed. I noticed that the small hard dri've in the player feels as though it is 'spinning down' around a similar time to the message being displayed. If at this stage i refresh the players view in nomad explorer it can be found with no problem....its just i cant write to it until i unplug the usb from the zen and reconnect. I spoke to creative who told me that because my pc (in system devices) reports that my usb is an 'open host' adapter...this means it cannot supply adequate power to the player....but surely USB2.0 is USB2.0 and if something claims to be USB2.0 compliant that would be the end of the story? The usb card im using is a usb 2.0 pci card and is also pretty new. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I have tried various usb ports, usb and2 conections ( I have both), various cables and combinations and the same happens. I have also tried win xp and win98, and other disks I have with the same result. I have managed to transfer 20 os so mp3s (a small proportion of those I have been trying to transfer)after 3-4 hours hard labour but never the contents of a full folder. After a proportion of the files are transferred then Zen touch becomes 'busy' or 'not connected'. Obviously there is no way I can continue like this and it will have to go back.
I have tried the slightly newer driver but this did not work at all and I had to roll back to the one that came on the CD. I feel that I have given it a fair shot trying all the workarounds.
Is is a USB power problem? Should a powered usb hub cure it's If so why?
But is this surely is Creative's problem. It is obviously a known issue but what are they doing about it's Putting out Zens which are prone to this problem is not good practice. Any solutions out there?

If you tried it on a friend's computer and you're still having problems then it may be a problem with the Zen. Before you call or e-mail tech support, here is what they will tell you do to first before they really get in depth with helping you. Go into Rescue Mode (there is an explanation on how to do this at the top of the forum) and do a disk clean up. After that, try it. If that doesn't work then click the reload OS option which will take the firmware (like windows to your PC) off the Zen. Don't worry you can easily put it back on. Go to Support>Downloads>select Zen Touch, etc, etc. and download the latest firmware and run it. Hopefully that will fix it....
I had some connection problems myself with my ZT as soon as I got it as well. and simply reflashing the firmware fixed and now I love my Zen. I hope everything works out for you.

Hi all. Here's a problem that I'm stumped on. I've looked through the previous entries and tried various things already. I'm using an older external SB soundcard (Audilogy MP3 #580270) and a newer computer (AMD Anthlon 64x2 dual core) that was sold with Vista, but I converted it back to XP-SP2. I've done the Autoupdate and gotten all the latest drivers from Creative's website. The automatic diagnostics in the app say everything's working fine. The device manager says it's fine. I can here audio coming in on the soundcard, I can play files from application. However, I CAN'T get it to record. It looks like it's recording, but nothing transfers. I've checked the all the audio levels and nothing is muted. What's the problem Here are some possibilities. What do you think . The card is just not compatiable with this motherboard. But why can I get the computer to output audio 2. There are other sound drivers that are interfering with this. I've reinstalled various ways. Again, it plays back just fine. How do I disable the other drivers ("audio Codecs") Any ideas Paul

USB 2.0 probl

Hi i've got a Muvo 4gb and i've just got a new computer with xp home edition SP2 and its got usb2 ports. When i connect my mp3 player to it its recognized as a muvo but as i try to install it nothing happens, windows says drivers missing or something like that.
When i stuck it into my other computer (xp pro sp2) with an usb port it works. But i want to use my usb2 connection so please help me i've treid updating my windows but nothing helps!

Sounds like a USB compatibility issue with your PC, if the other PC is working fine. I would buy a good quality PCI USB2 card e.g. Adaptec, and see if this works.

XP USB Driver proble

I have the NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra MP3 player, and after i've installed all the software and everything, i go to plug in my player, and this is the error i get. USB Device Not REcognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows doesnot recognize it.
I've tried updating the drivers from this site, but still isn't working. Any body have an idea where to go from here? THanks

Zen Touch, USB Connection Probl

Ok, i just purchased my Touch today and just fooling around with it,, it seems great, until...... i tried to connect it to my computer.
I first installed the CD and then rebooted, after that i plugged it in and all i get now is a "unknown device" listed. I clicked on it and then tired to update the driver with the CD still in the dri've but it wouldn't find what i need.
Is there a driver that i need? All i can see that comes with the cd is the Nomad Explorer and some manuals.
As for the install section i didn't install the Media Source as i have a Audigy 4 Pro, so i have Media Source installed already. But even opening MS nothing happens.
Any ideas? lol,, i love spending 500 bucks and having to spend 2 days trouble shooting to make it work.

Ok i installed it and it still didn't work... So uninstalled everything and then reinstalled it all allowing Media Source to install.
The error message that comes up is this:
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
Then it gives my USB Root Hub (6 ports)
and on one port it has UNKNOWN DEVICE. If i click on that device i can get to the point where i can install drivers but where would i find these drivers? The only Driver folder on the CD has .exe files not .inf ?
This is annoying and confusing.

Comme vous avez pu le constater le VI Waveform Buffer Generation (multi).vi qui s'occupe de créer le buffer pour la génération de vos signaux permet de configurer DAQmx et notamment le cadencement de la sortie. Or bien qu'en mettant la propriété à "On Demand" celui-ci essaye de régler la fréquence d'échantillonnage à une certaine valeur, ce qui est impossible avec le matériel USB 6009 qui ne supporte que le cadencement logiciel.
Il vous faudra alors modifier l'exemple dans sa totalité si vous souhaitez avoir une génération de signaux "quasi" identique. Mais cet exemple n'étant pas fait pour ce matériel, je doute du résultat.
