USB problem with Satellite P100-219

I have problem with USB flash memory on my Toshiba. Al devices on USB are workig except usb memory and external hard disc. USB and hard are OK. When I connect them it says USB device not recognized. I have win 7 ultimate, but I've also try XP and it is not working not under XP or Win7.
Can it be BIOS related. Bios is Phoenix 4.80, last update from Toshiba support. Motherboard drivers are also updated. But in BIOS I don't see any USB fucntion?
Anybody have any idea? (all common metodhs like uninstalling drivers or similar are already done)
Thx in advance
Tom

1. No. I was istall new instalation of XP. Usb still not working. After that new instalation of 7.
2. Yes, all was working till BIOS update. Now works everything (mouse, printer...) except any mass storage device (hard and usb sticks)
3. Yes
4: Only when mass storage device (usb, hard) it show unknown device
5: I was told in first post that I allready try delete, reinstall and everything simillar
Thx

  • Screen problems with Satellite P100-429

A few months ago I noticed a thin pink vertical stripe had appeared near the left hand side of my screen that bisects the entire screen and does not disappear whatever else is on the screen. Well I kind of let it slide and now there are hundreds of vertical coloured vertical lines all across the screen. The IT help guy at work states that it is because my toshiba drivers need updating. I have visited their website and tried to download some, but they appear to make no difference or else don't work.
Is this a recognised problem? What causes it? Could it be some physical damage?

If you see the problem *before* Windows starts (for example in the BIOS or at the Toshiba splash screen), then its not a driver problem.
Sounds like it needs a new LCD if the lines are single pixel in size.

  • USB problem with K7T266-Pro

I have an USB problem with Logitech Cordless Wingman Gamepad. I have dowloaded the newest version of logitech gamepad, and the VIA drivers for motherboard K7T266-pro. I also tried to install the USB filter rc1, but the problem remains.
Here is how the problem occur:
    1. On start up, the gamepad is detected and ready to use.
    2. While I am playing a game, the usb device is reconnecting a lot. I turned of the "Allow this device to turn off to save power" in device manager under all USB root hub. But the problem remains.
    3. After a while, when I have been playing for a while, the gamepad turns off, and the usb device is not recognized error message appears. Under device manager I now have a Unknown Device under USB.
    4. To get it function again I have to restart the computer.
Anybody who knows the answer for this ?

I have a similar problem but with my Logitech optical mouse.  It's also using the usb port and it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting the device in Win XP.  I use to have Win2000 and I experienced the problem but not as often as now.  Also in Win2000 there wasn't an annoying sound when a device would connect and reconnect, and not to mention when your playing a game and the mouse quits for 1/2 a second, really annoying!  Sometimes it will quit completely and I have to either physically reconnect it or reboot to get it working again.
I have recently tried fixing the problem:
    a) I flashed my old Bios and put in ver 1.9 from this site
    b) I've updated the Via 4in1 drivers
    c) I've updated the mouse drivers that come from Logitech.
None of these updates helped.  I've taken my mouse to work to see if it does the same thing, but so far so good.  My pc at work is running Win2000 but different MB.  I don't think there is anything wrong with the mouse.  Although I haven't tried using the PS/2 adapter  that came with it and see if it behaves the same way.  I have a feeling the mouse will work fine, but kinda sucks cause I have usb and I have to revert back to PS/2 just so it works properly.
I've read on the Via Hardware forum some people having the same problem but with an Abit board.  They changed something in their Bios to resolve it.  If anyone has any ideas, maybe changing something in the Bios that has to do with the usb ports, I would greatly appreciate it.

  • USB Problem with iMac

    I have a USB problem with a 2007 iMac.
It appears that 1 of the usb ports is faulty, when in OS X 10.6.2 I constantly get "because a usb device is drawing too much power" popup. Usually 3-5 popup eventually.
I used Boot Camp to boot into Windows 7 and Device Manager can see the ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2832 as a problem. I can disable it without an problems.
The question is: Is there any way to either disable that pop-up warning in Os X or disable that specific port so I don't get the pop-ups.
I performed all updates and things like PRAM reset and SMC reset.
Its not under Apple Care if your wondering.
    Thanks,

So does that mean all the ports work properly, even after getting that message?
If you start up from your Mac OS X installation disc (a different Mac OS X system), do you still get this error message? You can do so by inserting the disc and restarting with the C key held down. When you get to the Installer screen, you can do things like run Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Does that message still appear?
Also, you said you reset PRAM and SMC, but make sure you followed these procedures
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Apple recently changed the procedure a bit. While going through it disconnect ALL cables. If you have been connecting the iMac to a crowded or old power strip, connect to directly to a wall outlet, at least during this test. Power it up initially with nothing connected, except the power cord. Note if that message appears. If it does not, connect just your keyboard/mouse, use it that way for a while, and note if that message appears. If all is well, connect the remaining peripheral devices.
I don't know of a way to disable that message without disabling all the USB ports.

  • Is Pentium 4 2.8GHz compatible with Satellite P100?

    Hi
I have an 18 month old Satellite P100 with a 1.6GHz processor (not dual core) and want to know if this laptop will happily work if I fit a 2.8GHz Pentium 4 processor or will it damage the motherboard?
    Cheers
    Wacky

May I ask you why do you want to replace the Intel Dual Core 1.6GHz with the old Pentium 4 2.8Ghz?
For me this make no sense because the Dual Core 1.6GHz is much faster as the P4 2.8Ghz.
The name says everything; Dual core means that two CPU cores run at 1.6GHz. SO if you would add performance of the both cores you will get a higher performance as the Pentium 4 2.8 GHz.
By the way; as far as I know the P4 supports an different layout so its not compatible with the board!

  • Problems with Satellite A300-1GC XP install - CD not working?

    Hi there
I have few looks round in various forums and did not find any answer at all.
I have the A300-1GC Satellite and had (since last night) vista on it. As Vista caused
an awful lot of problems with various programs I decided to get rid of it.
The problem now is - if I stick my XP installation CD it it reads "press any key to start from CD".
Done that and then nothing happens. The CD reading head keeps on moving backwards and forwards
but nothing happens at all. Not even the start of the blue installation screen.
Any ideas where that comes from?
Might the CD-rom also be running in AHCI mode (can a CD drive do that?) and requires drivers?
I tried various XP CDs - neither works. The latest one I had was with SP3 and build in Feb 2009 so fairly recent.
    Any clues?
    Cheers
    Tobimaster

    Hi
In your case the issue has nothing to do with SATA mode (AHCI or Compatible mode) but it look like the CD/DVD drive cannot handle the inserted Win XP disk
    Why? Who knows
Fact is that the CD cannot be read and therefore the installation cannot get on.
Try to copy this disk using another computer and then you could try to use the copied disk on order to install the Win XP.
Just for info: I'm using TDK -R disks (CD and DVD)... I'm very satisfied

  • WINXP start up problems with Satellite M30

My M30 has worked fine for two years until a few days ago when it suddenly would't restart after running a Microsoft Security Update. It gave me different options of starting in safe mode, normally, etc., but none of them would work.
I have been told that if I use my recovery DVD. it will wipe clean my hard drive and with it all my files. I understand that my WINXP software is on this DVD - I certainly haven't got a separate disk. Is it true that I will not be given the option to try and repair or heal the problem and if this is the case will I need to purchase an WINXP OEM and install this separately? Or should I be doing something else completely?
Any help anyone can give me would be much appreciated.
    Thank you

    Hello,
Did you tried to set your windows to a earlier point of your "system-recovery-point" which appears with that options -> boot in safe mode - boot in safe mode with network - etc.etc..
It this fails, then you have to recover your whole system.
At first, its true: you cannot heal or repair your system with the recovery dvd, you can just reinstall your whole system and than you have a operating-system like on the first day after you purchased that machine.
So your only choice will be to reinstall your system to fix that and to avoid installing EVERY update from Microsoft because I had many problems with some updates which causes my machine to do some things like no-boot or that some software crashes. Its better to stay informed about that updates and install them just after you verified that the update isnt affecting your system stability or performance.
To backup your files and to recover your system you will have to do following things:
You said your system is not booting up, but you need your files.
Just take a UBCD4Win (http://www.ubcd4win.com/) from Internet and boot up with this CD. You will get access to your files with this WindowsPE on CD and you will have the chance to backup your needed data on a USB-harddrive or to burn your stuff on CD.
Now you have to boot the recovery cd and just let the automated install-script do the rest. It will delete your whole harddisk and reinstall the system. After that you can put the saved data back to your harddisk.
I hope that I maybe could help you. If you have any further questions than just ask them.

  • Odd USB Problem With K7N2 Delta-L

Hey all.  I have a bit of a weird problem here I'm wondering if people can give some insight on.  I have a K7N2 Delta-L mainboard that I've been using for two years now without the slightest problem.  However, recently I've started experiencing some odd USB related problems which culminated in a big moment of panic for me yesterday.  I'll start with what happened yesterday.
My system drive is 2x40GB PIDE drives running on an add-in Promise FastTrak133 controller.  Yesterday, I was given 2x160GB drives from a client that I decided to upgrade my RAID with.  I installed the drives and fired up my system, but had to reboot several times as the drives weren't jumpered right and not detecting on the Promise board.  After I finally got the drives working, I noticed my USB had completely died.  My USB keyboard and mouse didn't work and my TrueImage rescue disk (which I was going to use to restore my backup to the new RAID with) couldn't see the USB hard disk which contained the backup.  I panicked about this for a while, but eventually managed to restore the keyboard and USB drive by unplugging the system, pulling the battery, waiting 15 minutes, putting the battery back and starting up.  My mouse still didn't work, but once I got into Windows, it started to work after unplugging it and replugging it three times.  All these devices work immediately when plugged into my laptop so I know they are OK.
Also, for the last few months leading up to yesterday, I've been having a problem with some USB devices not detecting properly when I startup.  For example, the mouse will not respond until I either replug it (sometimes more than once) or on some occasions, just mash the buttons a few times at which point it kicks in.  I also find that sometimes if I switch the keyset on my Zboard (which resets its USB connection), sometimes it won't get recognized as attached to the system unless I disconnect it or reboot.  Both of these devices work perfectly in other systems I've tried them on and once I get them running in Windows, they don't kick out again unless the system is shut down (and they only fail to work on some boots, not all.)  Every other aspect of the system works flawlessly.
I was wondering, has anyone else seen this before and is it something I can correct?  Is this a sign that possibly the board is starting to die and I should look at upgrading?  If I install an add-in USB card and disable the on-board USB, will I still be able to boot from USB devices?  I cannot really afford a major upgrade right now, but I also can't afford to lose this system so I'll make the investment if this is a potential sign the board is failing.  Thanks for reading and any help you can provide.
P.S.  Here is a list of USB devices connected to my system, all of which I've tried disconnecting without fixing the problem:
Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse (Latest Drivers & Firmware)
    Ideazon Zboard (Latest Drivers)
Artec e48U+ Scanner (Latest Drivers, Powered By USB)
iMex USB 2.0 External HDD Enclosure
HP Photosmart 7600 Photo Printer (Runs Through Zboard USB Hub)

the PSU looks fine and should be capable of providing more than enough power - unless it is faulty for some reason. is it clogged up with dust? do you have another one you can test with?
does your case have its own USB port(s), if so disconnect from motherboard and see if that makes any difference
also, try going to Device Manager, uninstalling all the Host Controllers listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then rebooting to reinstall the drivers
i presume you have already referred to this sticky topic: If you are having problems with USB ports, read this topic.

  • USB problem with K7T266 pro2 RU

I have a MS intelli mouse optical. It connects via USB. About 10 times per hour the cursor freezes and the mouse shuts off. I have to unplug the mouse and plug it back in and it starts to work again. This gets very annoying. I am running a clean install of win xp pro. And have recently done a format. It happened before and after the reinstallation of XP. It does not matter if the mouse is plugged into the USB ports by the keyboard connector or the add in USB 2 card. It happens in both places.
Anyone else have this problem or anyone know a fix to it?
    Thanks in advance

  • IMessage and USB problems with MacBook Pro (Maverick)?

Since I updated my MacBook Pro (2011) to Maverick I have had problems with imessage not working. I also can't use my USB ports for my printer, card reader or external disk. USB ports work together with my iPad and iPhone. Does anybody out there have an idea about what I can do to fix these things? Many thanks in advance.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • USB problem with K8N Platinum BIOS 1.C

I was running the beta BIOS 1.CA to fix a problem with one of my CPU cores not being detected on a warm boot and it worked great.
When I noticed the official release BIOS 1.C I upgraded but I noticed problems with my USB mouse and keyboard sticking occasionally, the keyboard sometimes needed two or three presses to type and I was losing mouse clicks, gone back to the beta 1.CA BIOS and everything is fine again.
Anyone else noticed this with 1.C BIOS?

Yes, I've gone back to the beta BIOS now and everything's fine
I only upgraded to the release version because usually releases are more stable than betas, obviously in this case the reverse is true

  • Various problems with Satellite L505D-S5983

After getting a virus on my laptop I simply decided it would be best to reset the computer to factory settings.
So I pressed restart, then F8, and following that I followed the steps to factory reset my laptop.
Though it took the laptop about 15 hours to restart and reload everything? (I didn't do any kind of recovery, so it's as if I just took it out of the box, it did it's thing where it loaded it for the "first use")
So obviously I had to get some sleep within that 15 hours I had done this reset at night, so I wasn't aware of what it was doing? When I got on it the next morning it had finished the process for the first use. Then something went wrong when I had been on it and it froze so I turned it off. When I turned it back on it kept trying to do the "first use" process again.
Then at some point it stopped. So I was able to connect to the internet and download google chrome and such.
    Then more problems became evident.
The first one being the font is blurry. Now I'm not sure if it's because the screen is rectangular as opposed to monitor I'm currently using which is square.
The next one is a little more aggrivating, whenever I try to log on on its regular mode, I'll click on my account (the admin account, the only account on the laptop.)
When I click on it, it tells me that my accound has been disabled and that I need to contact the system admin - which I thought I was.
So now, after going through my user accounts when I'm on safe mode with networking, I can't find anything to fix that.
So now, apparently I've gone on safe mode too frequently where if I try to open chrome, my blue screen pops up indicating a crash, and it restarts.
So hopefully this is all fixable?
    Thank you for the help.

    Satellite L505D-S5983
If it is taking that long to recover and you still have issues I would use your recovery media that you should make if you have not did so already. As Toshiba suggest it is best to make the recovery media when the laptop is new because it can become infected by a virus just like your main operating system.
You should not interrupt the recovery, meaning keep power supply plugged in and don't force a restart. If something happened to interrupt the recovery you can just recover to factory settings again except use the copy you previously made.
If you still have issues you may have other problems.

  • Video problem with Satellite X200-25G (PSPB9E)

    Hello
I'm having this laptop about a year, and I have this problem with Windows Vista (genuine), Windows XP (with modification with video driver). Video driver is newest without problems, except one.
I'm working with SolidWorks, and the problem is only in this product. You can see the problem, if you see this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi0gCJTJRrg . Some parts just go missing, even when is one part, just one of the wall of the part go missing (shows like mirror) I tested with any kind of this Product (SolidWorks 2008, 2009) Windows XP, Vista x32, but every time is the same.
Probably the problem is not in the product (SolidWorks), probably it is not in the software, driver and OS (because I tested with two version of nvidia genuine video driver without any problems of installation).
I'm almost sure, that the problem is in that, video card is not suitable with this product, even the purpose of the video is for multimedia and gaming, which is so close with the job which I do.
Can you give me some advice? Thanks in advance, and sorry about my English Skills

I believe that most people here after watching this video will not understand what your problem is.
In my opinion you should visit nearest Toshiba authorized service provider, put your notebook on the desk and explain exactly what kind of problems do you have.
Otherway if you have problems with third part software you should contact manufacturer and ask for help. They have best experience with own product and I believe they can help you about it.
Notebook manufacturer must offers best driver for built-in hardware and offer best graphic performance for usual every day work on this notebook model.
Toshiba and all other notebook manufacturers cannot test several thousand available products and check the graphic card performance.
    Try to contact SolidWorks support.
    Good luck.
