Usb recognizes iphone as digital camera

I hvae Windows xp pro.
My notebook recognizes the iphone as a digital camera whenever I put it on the usb cradle. It just started with no particular reason.
Any idea to fix this will be greatly appreciated.

Is the iPhone showing up as a USB mass storage device? (in other words, if you open up "My Computer" does the iPhone show up there as a drive?). If so then it's not that XP is seeing your phone as a camera. It is that it is seeing your phone as a generic device that happens to have pictures on it. Likewise, if you have music on there in MP3 format and if it is showing up as a USB mass storage device then Windows Media Player will be listed as another application on the autorun menu.

  • Windows recognizes iPhone as digital camera

my iPhone doesn't show up in iTunes at all and when i look up devices, it only shows up as a digital still camera. i tried reinstalling itunes and that didn't work.

A few things to look at.
    1. open add/remove programs from the control panel and make sure apple mobile device is installed.
1A. If not uninstall apple software update, itunes, and quicktime. Then reinstall itunes.
    2. with the iphone connected, open computer management, look under services and make sure apple mobile device support is started.
2A. if you try to start it and it stops with a message that some services stop because there is not a task to perform, then you have software loaded on your computer that is blocking that service. This link from the apple support website might help out. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
    3. If previous fails and windows only wants to load the camera driver for the iphone then open device manager right click on the iphone that shows up under imaging devices and uninstall.
3A. disconnect the iphone and reconnect. When windows detects new hardware, do not let it automatically install the driver. try to force windows to load the driver from c:\windows\system32\drivestore\usbaapl_*
    Hope this helps out.

  • Blue Screen On eMac From Generic USB cable for a digital camera?

I recently got a digital camera from a friend and ordered a $2 usb cable to upload my pics. it uploaded them fine but the next time i started my computer i got a blue screen with only the mouse curser on it. i unplugged the cable and tried to start it again and it worked but then it froze again. now every time i start it ( with all the cables unplugged except for the mouse and key board ) it goes to the blue screen.

If you boot in Safe Mode and open Applications/Utilities/Console, can you view the logs (e.g. system.log, CrashReporter logs, panic.log, etc.) looking for events tagged at the time of one of the blue screen starts? Look for indications that the eMac was trying to load some library or start some service, and never came back from that.
How did you upload the pictures from the camera? Did you use a Mac program iPhoto or Graphic Converter or the like, manually drag the photos in the Finder, or did you use camera software? That you can boot in Safe Mode (which disables third-party drivers) but not normally raises the possibility that camera-specific software installed incompatible drivers onto your hard drive. Not that all camera manufacturer software is suspect by any means (Kodak EasyShare works OK on my eMac, for instance), put it's possible some third-party software written for Intel Macs would install itself on your PPC eMac.
If you did use third-party camera software, you have some options. Check the camera manufacturer's website and see if there's a updated installer for the software, especially one for your OS version, and most especially if there are different PPC and Intel versions. If you find a more recent or more PPC-specific version, download that onto CD-R and install it on the eMac after booting in Safe mode.
Another option: boot in Safe Mode, and look for anything you can be certain was installed by the camera software. Look for manufacturer/model name and/or install date. Look at the root level of your hard drive in the Library and System/Library folders, since the eMac is going to blue screen before you ever get to the login prompt (note: if your eMac is set up to automatically log you you, extend the search to your home directory Users/yourname/Library folder as well). Besides searching by name (command-F) on the hard drive, you can manually inspect folders to spot things that may not occur to you to plug into the search box. Some places to look:
    /Library/Application Support
    /Library/Extensions
    /Library/PreferencePanes
    /System/Library/Extensions
    /System/Library/Contextual Menu Items
You can move suspect software to a holding folder (don't delete anything yet!) and then see if a normal start will work.

  • Complete control via USB of webcam or digital camera

    Hi,
After searching in the forum and over internet, I finally decide to post my question.
I'm looking forward to control a webcam via usb with Labview 8.5. I want to be able to have a full control over the camera settings, particularly for acquisition. I also need to acquire the raw image or raw data composing the image. So I can't afford any degradation of the image by any out of control process. I think that the NI-IMAQ software is not really suited for my requirements right?
As I don't have the Vision package, I thought that I should build my own driver with NI-VISA. In fact I did it and I think it is working well. I'm able to see all the properties of my webcam with a simple VI.
But then come the question: how can I acquire images and control the settings. The company told me that they are using generic UVC (USB Video Class) and that no custom commands were used. I downloaded all the information on the USB-IF website, but it seems to me that there is still something I don't understand to get going...
Is there anybody who can please help me with that problem? Any simple example would be very welcome...or any other solution.
After controlling a webcam, my ultimate goal would be to control a digital camera...I suppose this should be pretty similar...
Thank you very much for your help,
    Frank

    Hello,
If your camera is DirectShow compliant, IMAQdx from Vision Acquisition Software 2009 already provides support for USB cameras. This is described on this page: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/5030 as well as in the release notes for the software.

  • Just started. iphoto will not recognize iphone as a camera

frustrated here. All of a sudden, IPhoto will not recognize my iPhone as a camera and therefore will not upload photos taken on the phone. No settings have been changed. Not sure what to do here.

Got any photos in your camera roll that were emailed to you or saved through safari? If so, try deleting them or emailing them to yourself & then deleting them from your camera roll. See if iphoto will then see your phone.

  • Error loading iphone 3gs digital camera driver windows vista

I recently received an Iphone 3gs and it used to work when I would plug it in to my Win Vista pc.  I know, I know.  Vista isn't that bad.  I digress.  I can not get the digital camera to load anymore.  I get the standard answer.  Could not load software.  I need a download to get this going.  HELP!

Have you installed iTunes? The camera driver gets installed as part of the package.

  • Computer wont recognize iphone as a camera or device

    Any suggestions for this?

    shaunie07,
First, does the iPhone have a charge on the battery, as discussed in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305742
What other USB devices are currently connected to the computer, if any?
Have you tried shutting down the computer, and leaving it powered off for at least 30 seconds, then restart it and try connecting the iPhone?
Try reseting the iPhone by holding down the sleep/wake and home buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignore the "Slide to Power off" screen?
Both of the previous steps could be done simultaneously. Shut down the computer, reset the iPhone, and then turn the computer back on.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • IPhone connect to Digital camera or Eye-fi

Hi. Can I connect the iPhone to digital camera? If it is not possible, can I connect an eye-fi card to the phone? Thanks

I do not know of a way that iPhone and digital cameras can be connected (directly) at this time. However, Eye-fi has an application for the iPhone that will take iPhone photos and upload them over the internet to your computer. It works very well.
Eye-fi transfers photos wirelessly from the camera/SD card to your wireless router, then over the internet to an Eye-fi server and then down to you computer. This process works well, too.
Eye-fi comes with a USB adapter so that you can take the card out of your camera and "import" the photos to your computer
Eye-fi will transfer photos to iPhoto but you must select this feature thru your Eye-fi "account".
I wish Eye-fi connected directly to my computer over my local wifi network, but I could not determine how to do this.

  • Digital camera software opens on iPhone sync, incompatible, how to stop?

Every time I sync my iPhone, my digital camera's program opens up but is incompatible with my iPhone. Is there anyway I can disable this program opening when I connect my phone? I can still sync my photos through folders so I don't need an outside program... Thanks for your help.

Your computer recognizes the iphone as a digital camera.
Therefore, your photo management software (Olympus Master) opens.
Apparently you have either your computer set to open Olympus Master when a digital camera is connected, or you have Olympus Master set to open when a digital camera is connected. As I am not a windows user or an Olympus user, I don't know where the settings are located, but you should be able to find them.

  • My Computer Only recognizes My IPhone 4 As A Digital Camera

When I plug my iPhone into my laptop, it does not show up in iTunes. I'm running windows 7 with iTunes version 10.0.1.22. When I run a diagnostic in iTunes it says that no iPhone is connected, I have tried different USB ports, different USB cables, I have uninstalled iTunes and have tried removing, disabling my iPhone which is recongized in device manager under portable devices, and I followed some instructions in services to fix this problem, but at this moment can't remember what it was at this moment.
Now I know a few other people are experiencing this problem but one diffence I have noticed is that my phone Shows up in my computer as a digital camera, other people have not reported this issue.
So if anyone can help with this conundrum, many thanks

The iPhone is two separate devices, a digital camera and an iPod. It is normal for it to be recognized as a digital camera when there are photos in the camera roll; this is to allow you to transfer the photos to your computer.
The iPod should also launch iTunes, then appear in the left panel of the iTunes screen. If it doesn't your iTunes installation is corrupted or you have USB driver problems. To diagnose the problem first make sure you are connecting the phone to a USB port directly on the computer, not to a hub.
Next launch Task Manager (CTRLSHIFTESC). Click on the Processes tab then Image Name to sort on the name. Look for AppleMobileDeviceService.exe. If it is not present that is your problem. If it is the best solution is to completely uninstall then reinstall iTunes. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925.
If the mobile service is not running to to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Find the service, right click on it and launch it. If you get an error your firewall or antivirus may have disabled it.

  • HT201302 My PC (windows xp) does not recognize the iPhone as a digital camera. What do I do?

The iPhone 3G does not show up in My Computer, but syncs OK with iTunes, no problem.  I need to back up my photos on the iPhone!! Any help appreciated.  Thanks!

When I connect my iPhone to a PC running Windows XP just to charge it, the scanner and camera wizard launches automatically prompting me what to do about importing the photos in the Camera Roll. I don't recall having to add my iPhone as a camera first. The scanner and camera wizard detected my iPhone as a camera automatically which it should do without having to do anything extra first - as long as there are photos in the Camera Roll.

  • Iphone recognized as a digital camera

my iphone is connected to my computer via usb and itunes does not recognize the device the computer thinks it is an iphone digital camera

It's okay that your computer thinks that your iPhone is a "digital still camera", however it does not use the Apple Mobile Device driver like it should. The solution is simple and doesn't require re-installing iTunes.
    1. Plug in your iPhone into any USB port.
    2. Go to Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager.
    3. Find 'iPhone', probably under 'imaging devices'.
    4. Right click on iPhone.
    5. Click on Update Driver, Install from a specific location, Don't search I will choose the driver to install.
    6. Find the folder with the iPhone driver. It is very likely that is in:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
    7. Use the text box to point to that iPhone driver directory.
    8. Open iTunes and your iPhone should show up in the Device section.
    Good luck!

  • Iphone recognised as "still digital camera" ?

I have just registered my i phone and am cuurently operating on a temp number as my original is being activated...shouldn't be long now.....my problem is that when I now plug in the usb to update music etc again the computer seems to recognise the phone as "still digital camera", Itunes doesn't open and the computer shuts down as the result of a "serious error" where the truncated folder on restart mentions some kind of "apple lockdown" - if any of this looks sadly familiar or rings a bell then PLEASE HELP me....be gentle though as u have probably guessed i'm not a particularly techy person.....any help greatly appreciated .....the phone is fine at the moment but I'm a tad concerned that when I want to update music / photos etc in the near future ...this is going to happen again and again....can't be good eh ??? cheers, Malcolm

Just to add to Nathan's post... and as an FYI...
If you are using windows then it is correct behaviour to recognize the iPhone as a digital still camera AS WELL. So if you have photo management software loaded (photoshop premiere / corel etc), these softwares will recognize the camera portion of your phone and allow you to use 3rd party software to pull/manage the pictures on it. You should also see the iphone in My Computer which will allow you to use Windows to pull pics from it that way.
