USB scope triggering off wrong digital edge

All,
I have setup my USB scope card (5133) to trigger of a positive digital edge on the PFI input. This then captures rising analgue connected to the two channels. This normally works fine, but sometimes the scope will start to trigger off a negative edge! (digital input signal is a digital pulse). To get the scope to work correctly again I have to set the scope to trigger off an analogue edge on ch0/1, then after runing the vi once return to the digtal edge trigger on PFI1. I have attached an image of the setup of my scope.

Hello,
I don't immediatly see anything wrong with the screenshot of your VI. I have a few questions about your setup that will help narrow this down.
1) What are you using as the source of your digital trigger on PFI 1? Have you verified that this digital signal meets the VIH and VIL levels specified in the 5133 spec sheet? http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/8D323D9E4F4B39288625737C0071E462 (Page 7) Also make sure you are not exceeding -0.5V or +3.5V and that your pulse width is greater than 20 ns. The easiest way to verify this would be to run the configured acquisition example VI with your digital trigger signal running into one of the analog input channels.
2) How are you connecting your signals to your board? Are you using BNC cables or probes?
3) I am assuming that the signals you are digitizing on ch 0 and ch 1 are different than the signal you are feeding into PFI 1. If you have a BNC splitter handy try splitting the signal you are feeding into PFI 1 so that it also runs into one of the input channels. Leave the other analog input channel unconnected. Then run your VI again and see if you see the same phenomena where it looks like the scope is triggering on the falling edge of PFI 1. If the scope is triggering on the falling edge you should see the falling edge waveform captured on the analog channel. This will help us determine if the scope is triggering on the wrong edge or if your input signal and digital rising edge are not always correlated. If you are using probes instead of BNC cables you can do the same test, just connect both probes to the same signal.

How to set a pre-trigger when triggering off a physical channel

I am trying to set a pretrigger when triggering off a physical channel when the voltage is above a threashold. Basically I would like to capture the pretrigger and posttrigger from a channel. I am using Visual C++.NET with Measurement Studio 7.1 with DAQmx 7.4 driver. I used to program this application with Visual C++ 6.0 with traditional NI DAQ with software analog (stop condition). How do I program in the DAQmx ?

In NI-DAQmx, the triggering technique you are referring to is called 'Reference Triggering'. In the attached zip folder is an ANSI C example in NI-DAQmx that demonstrates analog input with a digital reference trigger, acquiring pre and post trigger data. You will have to change the reference trigger function to use an analog edge as opposed to a digital edge (use DAQmxCfgAnlgEdgeRefTrig function). Also in the attached zip file is the NI-DAQmx C Reference Help. You can find all the DAQmx functions and properties there. Hope this helps.

How to I connect Sourcing digital output from My Interface Board to NI USB 6501 channel configured as Digital input

When I connect an input to DI channel of USB 6501 card from my board which has sourcing Output t, iIn the Off state it is not pulled down properly. The volatge on the port in is 2.1V -2.5V based on the pull down resistor on my board. I suspect that it acts as a voltage divider.
The state on the card is still show as "HIGH "state, even my sourcing output driver has a pull down resister. when I use this interface board for PCI mseries devices it works fine. Do the pull down resister on my sourcing output is not worth. Is this because of pull up resister 4.7k inside USB card 6501.
USB 6501 specifications shows the Digital input accepts both source and sink modes. By default the card is in sourcing digital input mode. How do we can convert this in Sinkind digital input mode.
Could anyone Please give your suggestions to overcome this issue .

You really should not have both a pull up and pull down on the same line. Really weird things can happen. If you insist on having a pull down on your board, then I highly recommend putting a digital buffer chip between the DAQ and your board.
Some boards with DIO have a pull up, while others have pull down. You just have to watch the specs.

Multiple Channels with Single Digital Edge Trigger

I have a simple vi where two analog channels are read in and recorded simultaneously to a lvm file and plotted on a waveform graph. I need a digital edge to post trigger the data acquisition for both channels.
I can get this vi to work with one analog channel and the digital edge trigger just fine.
When I remove the digital edge trigger, I can get the vi to work with both analog channels. Both signals plot on a waveform graph, and record nicely in the lvm file.
The issue is how I am setting up the digital trigger (see attached). The program is never entering the while loop. Where am I going wrong?
Chassis:cDAQ-9172
Analog Card:NI 9205 (Trigger Source PFI0)
LabView: 8.6
OS: Windows XP

I am going to take a quick guess (I'm lazy and haven't actually tested the code ), but, since it works without the trigger and given that you have it so that the read never times out (i.e. = -1), there is something going on such that the trigger is never generated on the source pin. Just a thought.

The photo part is rather self-explanatory. as long as your photos are in the right format and with the right naming convention they should import right over. The video may be a bit more tricky. So you may want to do some more research and make sure your camera records a format the iPad will import and whether or not you need an app such as iMovie

Why does Start Digital Edge in Start Trigger.vi do a kind of timeout?

Hi I am doing a manual trigger on my hardwareboard by inserting a 5 volt source into the selected triggerchannel a couple of seconds after I push the start button.
The generation never starts. But if I put the trigger signalchannel equal to the external sampling clock the appended vi work.
Example I use PFI7 as trigger source which is also the source of the sampling clock.
Could somebody explain?

One cannot just insert a wire with a 5 V potential to PFI6 for instance if PFI6 is used as a trigger for "Start Digital Edge" daqmx -vi. The pin is floating and just inserting 5V does not guarantee a low to high edge.
If I use a potentiometer to pull the channel low first, and then increse the voltage, the trigging happens.

Wrong digital signature for Add-on

I have just upgraded to 2004 (patch 5). My Add-on is installed (finally) and is successfully loading (finally)when SAP B1 is launched. Whenever I re-compile my Add-on for development and replace my Add-on exe I get the error "Wrong digital signature for Add-on" when SAP goes to load the Add-on again.
I cannot successfully create my .ard file without a digital signature for the Add-on .exe (even though the documentation says it is optional).
How can I test my Add-on in development mode if I have to re-create the .ard file and re-install the Add-on everytime I re-compile?? This does not seem correct.
Please advise. Thanks.

I found a solution to this problem.
We were not debugging in development mode properly.

I am using Agilent DSO1014A USB-scope. If I switch my scope first on and then launch MAX it doesn't see my scope. Refresh doesn't help. Why?
Only way which helps is to launch MAX first then power on scope. That is when NI Signal Express lauches too. I would like to see my scope like other non-USB devices on the Devices and Interfaces list of MAX without restaring scope after MAX launch.

I think I read somewhere that it is because USB devices only init once on plug-in, and not after that - something to that effect. Therefore, you need to plug it in AFTER you start MAX, or max won't see it. That's probably not exactly right, but I think it is close.

I have SAP B1 2004 & I developed the addon using VS 2005.While tries to attach the addon in Addon administration it gives me wrong digital signature. The addon was successfully installed in SAP B12005 But it gives me error in SAP B12004.Plz Assist me its urgent. I have tried to created Setup & ard file using both B1DE2003 & B1DE2005. But the error was same......

Hi Manmath,
Every time you recompile your addon code or the installer exe you need to reopen the AddOnRegDataGen application and regenerate the file again (you can open your old one and only press regenerate after).
You can use B1DE installation wizards, they can create for you the complete installer project + a .bat you only have to rerun to regenerate the new ard file everytime you need it.

Getting error -200452 using DAQmx Base Trigger (Digital Edge).

I'm trying to set up AI and counter output, and I'm using digital output as trigger for to start AI and counter at the same time. I get error 200452 "Specified property is not supported by the devise..." not consistently, but around 5 runs out of 100. Below the error description, the error box shows "This error code is undefined. No one has provided a description for this code..." If I "Retain Wire Values" in Block Diagram, the error first appears after 'Start Digital Edge' block in top counter output line.
Using LabView 8.5 on MAC OS X and DAQmxBase 3.2
The MAC I have is not Intel base, so I can't upgrade LabView and DAQmxBase to latest version
Note: The file contains just a small portion of the program, but the rest of the program does not have any other DAQmxBase blocks accessing the channels used here in code attached.

It looks like the DAQmx Base driver readme includes Mac OS X support for LabVIEW 8.5. Could you specify what hardware you are using?
I found one KnowledgeBase specifying that error code occurs when you try to use certain properties with certain devices. Of course, this would most likely occur every time you run the task, not 5% of the time.
Since I'm running Windows, it's a little difficult to see if you have DAQmx Base "Reset Device" functionality with that version of the driver. You might check if you can run that functionality before using your device, though.

I have created Addon Installer with the B1DE Installer Setup. After that also use batch file AddOnRegDataGen.bat to Generate Ard File.
After I addon install successfully, BUT when I want to Start it , It Prompts message
"Wrong Digital Signature for Add-on."
I do not know more what to make, already I read all the answers of the SDN and I did not solve the problem.
I am losing the hopes. Please Help!

Try editing the AddOnRegDataGen.bat and changing the version number to corellate to the setup executable you have created and then execute the batch file to recreate a new ard file.

PowerNap Time Machine backup? USB Data shuts off in sleep mode!

So how is PowerNap supposed to do a Time Machine backup when USB is turned off in sleep mode? Everything else seems to work, but when I wake my computer back up, I am greeted with a message that the external hard drive was removed improperly, and no backups were completed overnight.
I'm using a MacBook Air Mid-2012 and a 2TB WD External HDD that uses it's own power supply.

A USB drive should be fine.
Right before going to bed, I duplicated a bunch of large files and then went to sleep with my USB hard drive plugged in. When I woke up I realized that Time Machine did back up about one hour after the computer was asleep.
Using a mid-2011 MBA.
