USB Serial Parallel Adapter

Hi!
I have USB Serial Parallel Adapter, where I can find drivers for Windows 2003 for it? Supported OS are 98,2000, but I have Windows 2003!

Try your win 2000 drivers.  Is this an IBM/Lenovo adapter or 3rd Party?  you will need to go to the manufacturer's website.

Read the last post on how to install it. See if that works for you.  I used it on an x32 with 7 ultimate and I'm running an old printer off of it.

  • HP laserjet 1200 using windows7, cabled to the printer with a usb to parallel adapter

HP laserjet 1200 using windows7. My computer has USB ports, but no parallel port, so the computer is cabled to the printer with a usb to parallel adapter. Sometimes works fine, sometimes system states printer as ready, but will not print. Reboot hardware and on restart, I got one page to print. Next attempt to print puts the document in cue, but just sits there -- no error message. Finally, after multiple restarts, I got it to print (have no idea how), but now I had to print 20 pages one page at a time. It will not print more than one page, even if I select to print 20. Next time I start the computer I don't know if the printer will print. Do you need to use the same USB port each time, Or are the USB to parallel adapters undependable?
    This question was solved.

    Hey renradd!
Unfortunately, parallel to USB adapters can be undependable. Other than a new printer, I'm not sure what would provide you with a fix for this problem. You might try another adapter if you have one, but if that still doesn't work I would look into a printer that your computer could support.
    Hope this helps!

  • Thinkpad T60/T61 Serial/parallel adapter kgdb support

    Hi,
Does anyone know if the thinkpad T60/T61 serial/parallel bay adapter
40Y8121 supports kgdb ? It must be able to run even if the system crashes with
just the default minimal kernel serial driver.
    Regards,
    Sanjeev.

I know several people who use this adapter for programming industrial robots or specialised measuring instruments which require a native serial port, all reports are 100% AOK

  • Trying to connect an HP LaserJet 4 using a USB to Parallel Adapter

I have tried a Belknap and a Tripp-Lite cable.  In both cases my MacBook Pro "sees" the cable but not the printer.  I have the driver I need.  Each time I get 1 print.  Any print jobs after the first get lost, requiring me to delete at the print queue.  I wonder if I am neglecting to do something very basic here.  Any ideas?
    MacBook Pro,Mac OS X (10.7.2)

I know I join this discussion late. I am just now upgrading to Lion in earnest and the old Laserjet 4M is the last hurdle. In this thread, I have not heard of anyone trying the usbtb CUPS backend driver for USB printing in Mac OS X. This and Gutenberg 5.2.5 has worked for me under Snow Leopard. It has also worked seamlessly with a Windows XP virtual machine that I run in Parallels Desktop.
I am using a generic USB to parallel converter cable. At the time I bought it, there was discussion about the necessity of a cable allowing bidirectional communication. This one apparently did, it was cheap, so I bought it and I guess I lucked out. Tomorrow I am going to the office where my 4M is located and I am going to test a Lion installation located on a firewire external drive that was a simple upgrade from a clone of my current Snow Leopard installation. I have the latest Gutenberg driver 5.2.7 to install and a new copy of usbtb.
Anyway, for those who are not using the usbtb driver, I think it is a necessity and you can find it through the usual search engines.

  • The driver (MacJet) for Belkin F5U002-MAC USB-to-parallel adapter?

I have a Belkin F5U002-MAC adapter, that connects between my USB port on my computer, and the parallel port on my printer. The adapter was originally designed by another company (CAI), who gave a driver for it, I think called "MacJet". Then CAI sold the product to another company (about 2000), who sold it to Belkin (about 2003). Belkin no longer supplies Macintosh drivers (although they do have Windows drivers).
We can I get a driver for this product?
    Thanks.

    Hi, Don!
You done good to find that page! I tracked down all its leads, and I'm still out in the cold.
I gotta believe at least one person on this planet still uses the MacJet software, and would be willing to send me a copy. Now all I gotta do is find him!

  • Using LaserJet 6L & Belkin parallel adapter

I have a HP LaserJet 6L printer (circa 1998) which I now want to use with my Powerbook. I have a Belkin USB->parallel adapter (model F5U002) of similar vintage. I connected the printer to my powerbook with the adapter cable and nothing happened.
I went to system preferences, print & fax, clicked the plus icone to add a printer; which opened the printer setup utility. I selected USB (no printer was listed); then opened the print using list and selected "HP LaserJet 6 series - Gimp-print v5.0.0-beta 2" and nothing happens. the selection stays highlighted but the list doesn't close with this driver selected.
Do i have to install a driver from somewhere? If so, how and where from?
Or is the USB adapter supported?
    Any ideas?
    John

I did some research over on the Belkin.com site. I think the first basic problem is my USB to parallel adapter is for PC's and a different one is required for Apple/Mac. Given the low price of entry level laserjets etcetera, I'm just going to buy a laser printer that is currently supported without the other problems of my old laserjet. My old laserjet will be given to a friend of a friend who will have fun getting the thing to maybe work for him.
    So thanks for your help.

  • Laserwriter Pro 630, USB to Parallel, Original Airport Extreme-- in 10.6.4

*If you have used a USB to Parallel adapter to place a pre-LPD/IP Laserwriter on your Snow Leopard machine, I'm looking for your input!*
I have a Laserwriter Pro 630 -- no more AppleTalk in Snow Leopard. I'd like to attach it through my Airport Extreme's USB printer port.
    It seems that:
    - Some people have had success with USB to Parallel cables
    - Some have been able to do this without additional software
    - Maybe the cable is the issue
    - Maybe it won't be possible
I read several sources that explained you can use a USB to Parallel cable to bring up the printer in Snow Leopard. I bought such a cable. In the *Add Printer* dialog, it could see the cable, but would not allow me to Add the printer.
I found a thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12060195#12060195) that referenced what I was seeing, and the USBTB back-end. After installing that, I was able to print (though when I changed the name of the printer queue, it didn't work -- I had to add the printer again). Further, if Airport Utility, under Printers, it doesn't see the USB cable or the printer at all.
I read an 11 page thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2073321&tstart=0) which referenced a handful of people using a USB cable, though several of them seemed to be able to do this without USBTB. It strikes me that if my printer (cable) required the addition of USBTB to the Mac, it might be that the Airport wouldn't be able to see it without that same backend.
    So I'm left wondering:
    - should I get a different cable?
    - should I install something else besides USBTB?
    - is it even possible to connect the LW Pro 630 to the Aiport Extreme over the USB to Parallel adapter?
    Thoughts, experiences... Sought!

You should get a parallel print server and not use USB.
Why do you say that? Many people report success using USB to parallel, and while there may be advantages of using a print server, there seems to be several disadvantages:
1- another power-consuming device I have to plug in and either run all the time or turn on when I turn on the printer
2- more cables and connections and configurations
    3- more expensive
I should probably note, too, that I re-read the 11 page thread and went ahead and bought the one cable mentioned there (iogear's). It works fine, selecting the 630's PPD. It won't be recognized by the Airport Exteme.
Oh well. Waking the Mac so I can print from the MacBook is pretty trivial, since to turn the printer on, I have to go to the same room the Mac is in.

  • Printing Problems - HP LaserJet 2100 with USB/Parallel adapter - Print jobs 'hang'

Hoping to get some assistance with a persistent and frustrating printing problem.
I've got an older HP LaserJet 2100 that was working great until recently.  It doesn't have a USB port on it, so I have it connected to my iMac (21" 3.1 gHz, i7) via a USB/Parallel cable.  Up until now I have been forced to us Gutenprint (wss running 5.0.2) as the Apple provided drivers cause the printer to spit out pages upon pages of gibberish.
Recently, when printing the document (or PDF, or whatever) gets sent to the queue, but doesn't seem to fully make it to the printer.  For lack of a better term, it 'hangs' at some percent (47%, 82% etc.) in the queue window and doesn't print.
A few further details that are causing me extreme levels of frustration:
I have reset the SMB and this results in being able to print one page normally, then the system returns to the problem above
OSX can see the printer and I have deleted/added it many times
Printing system has been reset multiple times
On a restart, the first page that was trying to print does print out.  This sometimes happens when the log-in page appears, sometimes when I log back in to my user account.
The printer is connected directly to my iMac and not through a USB hub.
I have another printer (a new HP Officejet 6600) that works without a problem.
    Thanks in advance.

This problem is most likely a deficiency in the parallel-adapter end of that cable. I'd look for another USB-parallel cable.
There used to be a special driver that worked around the limitation of the parallel adapter "data shifter" - but it doesn't appear to be available anymore:

  • USB to Parallel Cable Adapter not working with New PC and Windows 8.1

With the demise of parallel ports on PCs, I purchased a USB to Parallel cable adapter several years ago.  I used this combination to successfully connect my Apple Laserwriter 16/600PS printer to my HP Pavilion Slimline s7600n PC (running Windows XP, SP3).  I've decided to upgrade, I now have an HP Slimline s5-1020 PC running Windows 8.1.  However, I cannot get the printer to printer properly.  When the print command is executed, the printer spits out page after page of 1-line jibberish at the top of the page.  This continues forever until either the paper runs out or I abort the document by opening the paper drawer.  Only after full shutdown of both printer and computer and reboot of both will the printer clear itself of the corrupted print instruction.
The printer is also connected to an Apple MacIntosh 7200/120 computer via AppleTalk and it prints fine.  Also, I reconnected the printer to my old Slimline s7600n computer and it prints perfectly.  I have to assume that either new PC or OS is the source of the problem.
Any and all help/suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi,
You have to go to the maufacturer site to check is there any Windows 8.1 driver for it. I know many cable/adapter vendors stopped to develope from Windows 7.

  • Problems with asynchronous visa read with USB to serial port adapter

I have an application that sends and recieves data from a power supply and on most computers (desktop PCs), the application runs fine. I found that on at least one computer, using a Keyspan Tripp Lite USB to RS232 adapter, in one out of 25 queries, I wasn't getting the whole reply back from the instrument. After some debugging I found out if I switch the VISA write and read calls from synchronous to asynchronous I don't see the error any more. Is there a way to disable asynchronous mode for that computer? I'd rather not have to find all the VISA write calls in my application and update each one just to support that computer.
    CLD (2014)

Try playing with the Tx ACK Advance setting on that port first.  (From the Keystone config utility)  You might also look into the Rx FIFO buffer settings (16 is a short default buffer)
There is no (Easy) way to universally disable Async .   VISA Async tranfers MAY complete synchronously anyhow (It throws a warning when that happens)  So if Keystone settings do not help you might want to swap out to a FTDI chip enabled USB - serial device.

  • Will a USB-parallel adapter cable connect my MacBook to an OLD PC printer?

I have a very old laser printer of high quality and want to connect it (not wirelessly) to my MacBook. Does anyone know whether a USB-parallel adapter cable would do the job? Thanks,

Oh, a wrinkle: the printer has a cord coming out of it meant to plug (female) into a PC (male). So I'm wondering what to do. Any suggestions?

  • Virtual PC v 6.10 and the Belkin USB Serial Adapter F5U103

Trying to run Virtual PC v6.10 on a G4 with OS 10.4.10.using Windows XP.
When booted up in OS 9 my Belkin USB Serial Adapter F5U103 is recognized along with the hardware connected to it. Not so when booted up in OS X. Will purchasing a new Mac that can boot up in Windows XP possibly have the same issue (i.e. not recognizing the Belkin USB Serial Adapter F5U103)?

I'm running Virtual PC v 6.10 because I only need it for one application that I run at most once every two weeks. Do you think v. 7 will allow me to use the Belkin USB Serial Adapter F5U103 on OS X?

  • Parallel to USB or Firewire Adapter?

I'm trying to find one that works.
I need to connect an Epson Expresson 836XL large format scanner to my Intel iMac. At first I was looking for a USB or Firewire to SCSI adapter, but then thought of this option since my scanner also has a 36-pin Centronics type parallel connector.
I found a possible fit with the SCSI to Firewire adaptor (http://firewireshop.stores.yahoo.net/firfirscsico.html) but am wondering if Parallel to Firewire/USB might be a more viable (and cheaper) option. See here: http://sewelldirect.com/usbtoparallel.asp or http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?cid=103&cp_id=10311&cs_id=1031104&pid=1610&seq=1&format=2
Has anyone done this or know if it is viable? I worry about Mac compatibility.
    Thanks.

    Kenichi Watanabe wrote:
Since Macs never had parallel ports, why would the maker create Mac drivers for this scanner? If there are no drivers, simply connecting it would still not allow it to work. And you would actually need two drivers. One for the special adapter to make it pretend to be a parallel port and one for the scanner.
As mentioned, the scanner also has SCSI ports which I had been using under 10.3.9. I had to move to Vuescan at that point since the OS no longer recognized the scanner with the Epson Drivers. I had hoped that using a parallel adapter, my iMac would just see it as a USB or Firewire device. Vuescan recommends the Ratoc SCSI to Firewire converter but I was hoping there might be a less expensive alternative.

  • Legacy serial/parallel

I am a newbie who just purchased a new Imac G5. Well, not exactly, I had an ancient Performa that we used with our electric piano and a serial MIDI device to help the kids learn.
My question is, is there any device that I can reuse the serial MIDI device on the new Imac G5, as well as other devices from my windows only office that include external serial modems as well as parallel laser printers.
I purchased a Belkin USB-serial adapter that stated it was Mac compatible, but upon opening, found out only through OS9. There curt reply was that they do not support OSX.
Any help would be appreciated. Further theological discussion might include when and when-not to be worried about Mac compatibility. e.g. My Cannon Sureshot digital camera with USB and my JVC digital camcorder with Firewire did not need any drivers installed and "just worked" on the Imac G5. LOVED not having to install drivers, etc. like I have to every time with Windows. Yet, the Belkin adapter that says it works with Mac didn't?
    Thanks....
    Imac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    Thank you for your help.
I looked at the Keyspan web-site and thought I found my saviour with the UPR-112 adapter that has parallel, serial, and two additional USB ports.
But.....all of the reviews I could find panned it and Keyspan's support so badly that I am now afraid to buy any Keyspan product. I looked and found similar products from Targus, IOgear, Kensington, and Belkin, but could not find any thing similar to the Keyspan UPR-112 that had Macintosh support.
Any other manufacturers or experiences would be appreciated.
