Usb sound interface - AMD processor - win7 noise problem

I use m-audio mobilepre usb as the external sound interface. I got the noise(crackles) problem when I was using win XP and vista but HP USB filter patch solved the prblem.
Now I use win7 but usb filter doesn't work at the same problem. I checked all USB ports and one of them -sometimes- works properly. But it's not an exact solution and I don't want to re-use WinXp etc. There are many people crying about the same problem. In different forums I saw problem was related with IRQ, hubs etc. but I don't know how to configurate. Do you have any idea? Thanks...

I am one person who has been posting about and investigating this problem with various usb1.1 audio interfaces. I believe the mobilePre is usb 1.1 rather than usb2.0, but I may be wrong.
I have been in touch with m-audio about my Fast Track device and this issue and they say they have raised it as a bug with AMD who are responsible for the chipset in my machine as well as the processor. I can only assume that this means that they, m-audio, are seeing the same problem.
I can record and play cleanly if I insert an external usb2.0 hub, with or without external power and also disable the wi-fi on the machine.
There are free Microsoft applications that allow you to log and see the commands being sent via usb, and here they clearly show usb problems that only occur under Windows 7. I can post about these tests if they will help, but they do involve some nerdiness and hard work getting them to work. Alternatively, I am still trying to get anyone to respond after trying my simple test of setting up the usb device to play using asio drivers, open Windows 7 Control Panel audio device manager and switch between the recording and replay tab. This should not affect the asio usb audio at all. Does this alter the crackling?

  • Major Problem w/ USB Sound Interface Driver

I want to start off saying that I have Parallels Desktop installed w/ a Windows 7 Guest OS.
I have the Audio 8 DJ driver installed on Windows 7 AND OSX Lion. However when I plug the Audio 8 DJ interface in, it allows me to choose whether it will be connected to Windows 7 OR Lion OSX. So I doubt there will be any conflict there.
    HOWEVER!
    There is..
    A) When I plug it into the Mac, I get a terrible amount of distortion from the driver.
    B) When I plug it into the Windows 7, it 'forces' the audio 8 DJ to go back to the OSX lion and crashes the Parallels 7 program.
So I tried to uninstall the windows 7 driver and the Parallels as well. But it doesn't solve my problem.
I noticed that even when I uninstall the OSX Lion Audio 8 DJ Driver, it still pops up in the Audio MIDI as a "CoreDriver." I am new to Macs so this kind of surprised me. I hope someone can sort this out for me, because I found this problem out in the middle of a gig!
    Thanks.
PS: I tried the same interface on a seperate desktop computer. The output is completely fine.
    Thanks again.

No soldering! USB 3.0 port should be backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices. I didn't answer your first message because I know nothing about external audio 'appliances'. But there have been numerous complaints about the USB 3.0 ports on 2012 MacBook Pro models. The July 18th Software Update apparently fixed the problems for some but not for others. Wait until later this week and install Mountain Lion to see if it fixes your problems. If not take your computer (and your audio gear) to your local Apple Store and let them know that you are having trouble with your USB 3.0 ports supporting USB 2.0 devices. See if they have a 'fix'.
That's the best that I can recommend right now. Apple may blame it on your audio equipment but let them know that you are aware of the many problems that have been reported concerning the USB 3.0 ports.
    Good luck,

  • AMD processor fan noise

Every time I turn my system on the fan on the heatsink of the CPU makes a squeeling noise for about 10 seconds or so and then quits so I am wondering what route to go to fix it? Should I just peel the AMD sticker back and try a small drop of oil and see if that works? Are these AMD fans any good? I have only had this new system running for about 5 months or so which is a pretty short life for a fan bearing. I imagine the cheapest bet would be to just unscrew the fan that is connected to the heatsink and install a new one huh?

Yes it is the CPU fan because I started it up and when it made the noise I grabbed the fan with my finger and stopped it for a second or two and the sound quit.
    T-A,
I tried blowing it out with compressed air and it comes back after a couple of days.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Money is real tight right now with shortened work hours so buying another cooling setup is out of the question for the time being. What Thermaltake setup would you go with when I do replace it?

  • USB audio Interface distortion/static when sound is played.

My USB audio interface started sending out static/distortion to my speakers one day. It's more apparent when volume is very very low. To troubleshoot I switched to the other USB port and it worked fine for a month or so. Now the second USB port is creating static. I have reason to believe it's the computer not my interface as there was static on one usb port and none on the other. Now both ports create static. Is there something in my computer I can try reseting or should I look into getting a new interface?
Thank you in advance for any guidance with this.

No noise problems when the interface is plugged into other systems.. Only on the G5...
And I tried plugging it into all the different USB ports on the G5, the one in front and the two in the back... All with the same result.

  • Problem with SB1240 USB sound card

I'm pulling hair here! I've just bought a SB240. Windows (XP Pro, SP3) detected it and I can select it fine for listening. But when I open Sound and Audio Device Properties and select Sound Recording/Volume, I see the Capture panel with the three inputs, but all the controls are greyed out and immovable. I also use the application "Total Recorder" by High Criteria, in which I can select the SB240 device but the only input line it sees is SPDIF Interface.
    I'm stumped. Can anyone help?
    John?

&Re: Problem with SB240 USB sound card
Thank you. I did a complete uninstall, including the device itself (from Device Manager) as well as all drivers and any SB related software. As recommended by Creative, I had previously installed the driver software from the supplied CD and that seems to have been the problem.
I let Windows re-detect the SB, but? got a "problem ... device may not work correctly.." during the detection, so I was not hopeful (this had not happened the first time I installed the device).
Nevertheless it now does work fully and is properly configured in "Total Recorder" too.
So I would suggest not using the supplied drivers and software - at least not in WinXP. But it's not very confidence inspiring.

  • Performance problems in games with Sound Blaster USB Sound Dev

    Hello!
I recently bought a new USB sound device named "Creative Sound Blaster Surround 5. USB Sound Device"?or maybe also "Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit External" as this is the name that Windows is displaying.
Before, i was using a C-Media PCI Audio Device.
    Other system info:
    Windows Vista SP
ATI Radeon 9200 LE (i know it's old, but i was able to play the games before)
    2GB RAM
Now, my performance in games decreased significantly.
I only play Team Fortress 2, but i also tried an old GoldSrc engine?based game which was also slower.
The game now isn't playing fluently like before: my fps dropped and every few seconds, the graphics stop as there is a big network lag. It is now impossible to really play the game.
    i already tried
    - reinstalling steam and tf2
    - using another usb port
    - reinstalling the sound drivers
    - all (both sound and graphics) settings to low
The Steam support thinks that the data transfer rate for USB isn't high enough for what is needed and recommends that i should buy an internal sound card.
But i hope there is a different solution to this problem and someone here can help.
    Thanks!

No PCI interface, but USB = Slow. No hardware-acceleration (Mayber your CMedia had !real!, not pseudo?DS hardware support) so its normal that the soundblaster usb is slower in every term. But maybe sounds better...
The USB versions are only for Notebooks and other speciall situations where a PCI soundcard with X-FI or Audigy chip cannot be used...

  • USB Sound Problem

I'm having a problem with my Bose USB sound system that has just recently developed. The system is plugged directly into the back of my Mac Pro desktop so it's not going through any hubs or secondary systems. When I first start my computer the sound works just fine. But after about 10 to 15 minutes of use the sound stops completely - as if the sounds have been turned off. If I boot into Windows 7 using Boot Camp, the sound system there works just fine with no problems at all, so I do not believe this issue is hardware related but is something associated with OS X.
This all started recently after installing Tinker Tool and then realizing that their latest version is not compatible with Snow Leopard. I followed their directions and told Tinker Tool to restore the previous settings and then I removed it from my system. Now, I'm having this USB sound problem. I think it's highly probable to be the cause of my problem.
Is there anyway to reinstall the USB drivers in OS X without reinstalling the entire OS? Or, is there something else I can try to restore the USB function to Snow Leopard? Many thanks for any tips or suggestions.

    They are plug and play.
I did try unplugging all of the USB devices and then powered off the computer and unplugged it for about 5 minutes as I heard that that sometimes solves USB problems. However, upon reconnecting the problem returned. All other USB devices seem to be working normally - it's only the Bose sound system. I tried plugging it into a different USB port in the back of the computer but the problem continued after about 10 minutes. Therefore, I am convinced this is not hardware related.
At this point I am thinking I need to reinstall OS X Snow Leopard to undo whatever Tinker Tool damaged. Is it possible to just replace the USB drivers in OS X without reinstalling everything?

In order to keep the good behavior here (I`m really pissed off !) I just?want to tell you something (this is ESPECIALLY for all the guys from the stuff)? Before 2 days I`ve decided to buy a new sound system for my room. So in order to be everything beautiful I gave $70 for Usb sound blaster 24-Bit external. And from that time the problems began. In short :? I was using Vista but I found out that it wont work with this soundcard. The first problem : Didn`t identify the device. I tried with several drivers... Nope. No sound card with Vista.(This problem seems to appearance with many owners like me)?I pluged the usb soundcard in my old pc running XP and it worked . PERFECTLY. So I removed Vista from my notebook and intalled XP. This took me whole day to rebuild all my software. Finally it left to set up the sound drivers. The cherry of the icecream. • Oracle 9i problems in amd processor

    Hai,
I have installed oracle in my system but it occupying the whole disk space. it is showing low disk space.my system configuration is amd processor,512 mb ram,
asus mother board.please any of them solve my problem.
    Thanking you
    sudhakar.

I have installed oracle in my system What kind of system?
but it occupying the whole disk space
it is showing low disk spaceWhat about archivelog?
Or maybe you have just 3GB disk... don't know, because you didn't provide important info.
my system configuration is amd processor,512 mb ram
asus mother board. What is the purpose of this characteristic (where is the point)? I guess this has nothing to do with disk space occupation.
So if your problem is low disk space, then try:
    1. check whether your database is running in archivelog mode and whether is generate archive redo logs. If your database need to be in archivelog mode (preffered for production db) then backup your archive logs and then remove it from disk.
To check whether your database is running in archivelog mode execute from sqlplus (as sys or system):
select log_mode from v$database; To check whether (of course this is a must in archivelog mode) and where is your database generate archive logs execute from sqlplus:
    show parameters log_archive_start
show parameters log_archive_dest2. check sizes of bdump, cdump and udump directory and delete unecessary trace files, or coredumps. (oc course there might be large alert log file)
To show location of bdump, cdump and udump directories execute fro sqlplus:
show parameters dump_destPlease, be more specific and write important information in your future posts.

  • USB Audio Interface with bad latency problems under bootcamp

    Hi everyone,
I am currently running an Edirol UA-25 USB audio interface under Mac OS X for my normal music-listening needs. Everything works fine, and there is next to no latency when messing around in Garageband .
However, when I switch into bootcamp to use Cubase SX 3 for audio production and sequencing (has all my windows-only VST instruments), the interface pops and crackles extremely. It's almost as if the USB interface is losing sync..?
When I turn the buffer up on the drivers, this stops, but it is annoying as I like to have low latency when recording for direct monitoring.
Can anyone give me any insight into why this might be happening?
I know this is an audiophile-type question, but I thought I might as well give it a go. Or heck, if you wanna direct me somewhere where they might be able to help me!
    Cheers!
    Chris
    P.S. Using a MBP 2.5GHZ 2GB RAM

when you select , lets say the USB device in your audio preferences, it will be used as the input and output device. You can use the USB interface's audio outs plugged into your mixer, and use speakers or the headphone jack. When you create an aggregate device, using the USB device and your built in audio, and choose it in your audio preferences, this allows you to use the inputs and outputs of both the USB interface and your built in audio from your mac. So now you can record from one device while listening back on another. meaning you can record the audio from the USB device and listen back using your Mac speakers or from headphones plugged into your mac.
if you get a better audio interface, one with mic inputs, you will still need to connect it to speakers or plug in headphones to it to hear audio. If you have the budget, a dedicated firewire audio interface will usually give better results, in audio quality, than a behringer mixer and a usb interface.

  • Constant crackle with USB Sound Blaster 5.1. I'll reward you with cookies if you help

    Hey guys,
I got the external USB Sound Blaster X-Fi 5. Surround sound card for Christmas, and I've heard a constant, uninterrupted crackle/popping sound since I've installed it. It's incredibly aggravating. I ran through the FAQ, but most of it wasn't applicable because this isn't an internal sound card.
I'm running Windows 7 with 4 gigs of RAM. I can provide other specs if necessary. I'm about to return this card if I can't figure out the problem, so any help provided would be most appreciated. Thanks!

I am curious to learn, what kind of processor do you use?
I use the same product but I have, afaik, not noticed any crackling or popping, certainly nothing constant.
If you use Winamp, the following tips might not help, but at least I get to mention it. In the preferences, under plug-ins and under Output, one can in the device tab change the eh uh device.
Mine was set to primary sound driver, and I set it to "02 Speaker (Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5. Pro", though I do not think it make any difference. Edit: I see now that there is a message here saying "FAQ 0 "primary sound driver" refers to preferred sound device selected in windows control panel".
Someone mentioned that one could try checking the "create primary buffer" in that same tab.
In the next tab called "Buffering", there is the option to "enable cpu usage control". Not sure what good that is for.
Edit2: If you use Winamp, you might want to try out this DSP plugin "enhancer", only works with win7 with this guys work on it (old plugin allegedly unsupported):

  • [SOLVED] USB Sound card no longer working

I have used a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, a USB audio interface, as my default sound card for the last two months or so. Its output comprises two RCA jacks. I have a cable that is two RCA male leads on one end and an 1/8" on the other. I use this cable all over the house, so I unplug it often. The USB device remains connected. Last night, while plugging the cable back into the device, I jostled the USB and the device lost power momentarily. Since then, ALSA has not been able to "see" the device. The device is, and always has been, plugged into a D-Link USB hub, which goes into the computer.
I did pacman -Syu and rebooted to no avail.
    uname -r

    options snd_hda_intel index=-2
    options snd_usb_audio index=0
The first line I recently commented out as an experiment. If this line is left in, ALSA attempts to use snd_usb_audio and when I run alsamixer it complains that it can't find the device. If this line is commented out, ALSA ends up using the on-board sound. Particularly, it uses 'HDA ATI HDMI'. There are two choices: HDA ATI HDMI and HDA ATI SB. When I was using the on-board sound, I was using HDA ATI SB.

This is painfully true. This morning, I realized I didn't even check the D-Link. The LEDs on the interface were lit up from the USB connection, but the AC adapter was faulty. I replaced that, restored my original configuration by removing the # from the first line of my alsa-base.conf, and now everything is working again. The D-Link was simply unable to provide the device with enough power to operate.
