  • USB soundblaster h

I have a USB SoundBlaster 24-bit External and Creative P5800 5. Surround Sound speakers and every time i change the card to run at 24-Bit it automatically changes back to 6-Bit and says "There was insufficient USB bandwith to perform your request. To free bandwith, the bit depth has been reset to 6-Bit."
    Any ideas?

hi, i'm just taking a stab at this answer, so someone correct me if i'm wrong. if you're getting an error of "insufficient bandwidth" with your USB setup, could it be that your computer/motherboard is equipped with the older USB .0 standard instead of the higher-bandwidth USB 2.0 which is more common now? if you're running usb .0, i can see where it would get choked-up as .0 is pretty slow, especially for audio processing. good luck!

  • 52 ms input latency on X-Fi Elite pro card/Midi controller prob

Hi, I don't know if someone can help me about this but I just bought an M-Audio keystation pro 88 midi controller and I can't get it to work well with my vst instruments(on my x-fi elite pro card). There is a very noticable delay until I hear the notes I'm playing on the keyboard with non-so-demanding VSTIs.
I noticed that with the creative asio driver selected in nuendo, it has a 52ms input latency which I know is too high. I don't know if that's the answer to my problem but if I trust creative, i should be able to have asio latency as low as one millisecond. So that's already a problem midi controller or not.
I'm sure that these problems can be fixed(asio or controller latency)because I'm able to have no noticeable latency at school with the same vsts and outdated computers way slower than mine connected via midi cables which are also supposed to also be slower than the usb cable I use for my controller.
I thank you for your help if you are to reply to this post and I just want to have a decent sound(not soundblaster synth A or B which are about the only ones i'm able to use in real time)for my expensi've 88 notes hammer action midi controller. I will be very grateful of all the help anyone's going to give me.
EDIT: I don't know why my post can be seen double on the forum index
    ps.
I think my question is specific enough to post in a new thread because I already searched the forum for my answer and I haven't found it.Message Edited by Goshyouidiot on -06-200707:38 AM

Are they not just recording audio signals there? The strange thing is that not a single software can detect any midi device on my computer, although there is a midi input in the front panel of the audio card. So this is the way i've done it with windows XP. Just installing drivers from the cd, running auto update and everything worked so fine (memorieeees...) and now I'm not able to record midi signals in cubase?or any other software because the creative vista drivers do not support the midi input of the frontpannel (thats what i think)
I just tried a japanese version of the creative software cd which was modified to work under windows vista. I installed everything that came with this software package, but still no luck. When i plug in a Midi to USB interface, it works fine, but not so with the creative front pannel. So i'm going to take a look on the soundcard to get its "hardware id number" so that i can write an email to the creative support. I just can't find any other threads where x-fi elite pro users are able to record midi via the front pannel on vista 64.
I was soooo in love with this soundcard as long as?i used windows xp. It was a perfect solution to combine gaming with music recording (i used different soundcards for both issues before, but it was just not so comfortable than just using one card for both) But then i finally was brave enough to get a windows vista and there it goes -.- nothing but trouble and wasting time and money since then....(new mainboard, new midi interface, tried dozens of different modified drivers to fix the crackling sound issue that come up with nforce mainboards and so on...) If i wouldn't need all of my 4 GB ram,?i would get back to?my good old?windows XP 32 bit version.

  • How to get bootcamp to install from USB on Mid 2010 Macbook Pro in Mavericks

Ok, finally ran into my first problem with Mavericks. It's a doozy. Please if anyone has any advice, let me know.
My bootcamp partition was acting a little buggy. I also wanted to make the partition larger, so I went ahead and erased it, made a larger partition and was getting ready to install windows 7.
Unfortunately, little to my knowledge, bootcamp assistant is programmed to not allow installation of Windows via USB if your computer had an optical drive in it's factory delivered form.
I have removed my optical drive in favor of a second hard drive and encased my original superdrive into an External USB hub.
There apparently used to be a solution involving editing the plist.info text document to allow USB installation. However, as of MAVERICKS, this document is now locked and unable to be edited.
I was running windows 7 fine until I scrapped it, and now I have no way to re-install windows short of going through a laborious process of re-installing my optical drive into my laptop, installing, and then re-installing my hard drive back in. The only reason is due to a software bias for my series of laptop because it "used to have" an optical drive.
Does anyone know of any way that I can bypass this issue to get Windows Re-installed to a bootcamp partition on a mid-2010 macbook pro without using the optical drive?
    Thanks in advance!

Remove the Boot Camp partition only with Boot Camp Assistant, not with Disk Utility.
Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Still having Problems with yamaha USB UX16 midi device can anyone help??

I have setup drivers on my computer which have installed successfully. In logic I have setup environment so Physical input sequenser and keyboard are all connected up in Click and Ports layer.
When I am trying to play keyboard I still have no input or outport signal in transport window I am stuck on what to do??
    please can someone help???

I take back all I said. After reading reviews of this product, take it back to wherever you bought it and buy something else, anything else, everyone hates this thing, and is having problems with it. get a midisport instead.
    http://www.midiman.com/index.php?do=products.list&ID=usbmidiinterfaces
here are a couple of reviews:
Dec 12, 2006 - It is hit or miss as far as compatability goes and you don't know until it is too late if the full instruction set is going to be sent/recieved intact. Tried it on various Macs, PCs and inconsistent in every situation. Yamaha needs to issue a full recall on this POC called the UX-16.
Nov 6, 2004 - The first Yamaha UX 16 that I bought worked okay for a day, then started to cause a buzzing noise. The next day, it was not recognized at all by my laptop. I returned it to the retailer, hoping to find a competitive portable USB/MIDI interface at another store. After failing to find an alternative at the other store, I bought the Yamaha UX16 again, hoping that the first dud was a fluke.
The second UX16 also worked for one day before giving out.
    Avoid the UX16.
Apr 12, 2004 - This thing only works for a short period of time then quits being detectable to windows for random periods of time. Totally unreliable.

  • Terratec Phase 26 USB - No MIDI (Audio OK)

    Hi all,
I am experiencing some trouble setting up an external Terratec Phase 26 USB audio interface. Audio drivers (terratec Phase 26 USB ASIO / Core Audio) are detected and configured automaticly and work fine in all supported modes.
The problem is that MIDI is not recogniced and there are no up to date drivers for the product as it has been discontinued. In windows machines they are recognised as Phase 26 USB (MIDI).
Anyone having same problem and possible solutions, beta version drivers or some ideas that can help me make MIDI work for this device on Mac OSX Lion?
    Thanks in advance!
    Cósimo

The Terratec phase 26 has seperate firmware for Mac. You need to flash the Terratec with the right firmware. You can find it on the original CD or you can download it from: https://db.tt/9sbwHwUp
I have flashed the Terratec from windows XP. It should also work from windows 7.
Read the manual to find out how to flash the Terratec. You need to get it in firmware upgrade mode.

  • Using usb as midi in?

Hello. I'm curious whats the best way is to send MIDI out of Logic to an external synth. I think I have what I need, I'm just not using it right.
I have an axiom49 connected to my g5 via the USB cable. That's how I send and track midi to logics instruments.
I also have an external midi synth, the Roland JP 8080 which I'd like to receive midi performances from logic as well and track the audio from it into Logic. So in addition to the USB cable going to the G5, I also have a MIDI cable from the Axiom's MIDI OUT to the Rolands MIDI IN. I also have the audio outs of the Roland running into 2 record enabled logic audio tracks.
I can hear audio from the roland when I play the keyboard but any midi that I try to send out from logic (a midi region that's already been recorded for example) doesn't make it to the Roland.
What's the best way to send MIDI out of logic to my Roland synth via the Axiom 49? I'm sure lots has to do with the way I'm setting up my MIDI tracks any their destinations, etc...
    Thanks

    Noah Perry wrote:
    Nobody?
Maybe I'm being to vague or not asking the question right. I'll try again.
How do I set up midi tracks in Logic to send midi out, through my USB cable that's pluged into my MIDI keyboard (my M-Audio Axiom49)? Once I do that, I want to plug the MIDI OUT of the Axiom to my Roland's MIDI IN external synth so I can record some audio from it using MIDI from Logic as the trigger.
Anybody? I've done it before with my MidiSport 2x2 midi interface but I don't want to use it anymore If I can get MIDI to go out from logic to my Axiom keyboard via my USB cable I'll be happy!
    Thanks
If your Axiom has MIDI THRU it will work. Otherwise your back to using the MidiSport 2x2.

  • M-Audio USB Keyboard - MIDI?

    Hi folks!
Since I bought Garage Band almost a year ago, I´ve been using a USB keyboard (M-Audio Keystation USB) who´s functioned quite good in that application.
Today, I upgraded to Logic Ex 7 and halfway through the manual the next step is recording via the connected Audio/MIDI device. Now my USB keyboard won´t generate sound (at least not that I can hear).
My question is: How do I configure my USB keyboard to work with Logic? Or, eventually, do I have to obtain a MIDI keyboard in order to record in Logic? (And will I have better results if I connect to my pre-amp?)

I don't know if "hassle-free" is the right term - once you set up Logic and Audio MIDI Setup properly, you should have no problems. I wouldn't say Logic is as plug-and-play as GB. As Brad says, the MIDI instruments seem to confuse a lot of new users. They see a Grand Piano and think it'll work just like in GB, but it's not the same thing. Those instruments send MIDI out to external sound modules and keyboards (or other applications). To use Logic's internal instruments, you need to set up an Audio Instrument channel, not a MIDI instrument. As soon as you do it once, though, you're home free.
Keith, I'm not sure why you get that glitch in GB - what keyboard are you using?

  • USB Soundblaster headphone socket

The headphone socket on my laptop doesn't work any more (house party mishap), so I've been having to use the headphone socket on my external soundblaster card.
After trawling the forums I've managed to get it to turn on automatically and listed it as the primary sound card. Excellent.
But the headphone socket on the card doesn't work??
I remember from windows that it acts like a separate module as there always had to be a little driver tweaking ( even when the soundcard worked with my speakers, it still didn't play with headphones), it always required me to download the official soundblaster driver to use it.
    aplay -l returns nothing extra

  • Sudden restarts while using bootable USB installer (mid-2011 iMac) - evidence of hardware problem?

    Greetings:
For a couple of years I've been suffering from an issue reported in many threads:  seemingly random shutdowns and restarts of my mid-2011 iMac.  These can happen several times a day, or there can be a gap of weeks between occurences.  I've searched the web and discussions.apple.com endlessly, and tried every conceivable solution.  I've observed no consistent pre-restart pattern in Console.  I've tried removing all unnecessary extensions and start-up programs.  Fixed permissions, repaired HDD, many of the diagnostic procedures described by LINC (superuser on this forum).  I would sometimes get temporary relief from periodic restart loops, by unplugging the computer and resetting PRAM, but this would not last long. I couldn't discern whether it is a software/conflict issue, or a hardware issue.  Have run AHT in extended looping mode, several times, and found nothing wrong.  Which caused me to keep thinking it must be a software issue.  The last thing I've tried is a clean install of Yosemite, with full HDD erase, from bootable USB.
I did this successfully, restored files from Time Machine...but then a few hours later, a series of sudden restarts began, with 4 or 5 within a couple of hours. I decided to shutdown and restart using the bootable USB installer again, and run Disk Utility from it to check the HDD for errors.
But then, while booted up from the USB (and after running Disk Utility with a normal result):  the computer suddenly turned off and restarted!  And then it rebooted again into installer mode (i.e. running off the bootable USB), and I ran Disk Utility again and ...it happened again!
So what does this tell me?  I am asking all of you for confirmation please.  I am thinking this is a strong indication that whatever the issue is causing the restarts, it is hardware based, as the system was running off the bootable USB at the time, NOT using installed operating system or software.  AND this reminded me of one other instance where the system had rebooted randomly, while I was in SAFE mode.
Would you agree that this is likely now pointing to a hardware issue?  Is power supply the likely culprit?  Or??  (and recalling that repeated AHT have showed nothing...).  Is it worth trying to fix (out of warranty)?
    thanks for any insights,
    Warren

I have several midi controller on my Ipad/Iphone,  currently they're working over wifi. Can I add a camer kit to usb- out the midi informations?

Yes.  Goggle midi I pad and you get at least four examples.  Below are two links.  Depending on the power draw of the device, you may need a powered USB hub in between.

  • Install Windows 7 from a USB on mid 2011 15" MBP

    Hello all,
I have a problem. My Optical drive is not working at all, so I can't install windows from the disk. Is there any way that a 2011 MBP can install windows 7 from a usb or by some other means.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Only Macs without a built-in SuperDrive can install Windows from a USB drive or an external optical drive. In your case, unfortunately you can only install another SuperDrive and use it to install Windows in Boot Camp. There isn't any other option because it's restricted by firmware
