USB STICK HELP!!

i need immediate help. my 32gb lexar usb stick is not longer being recognized by both my MBP'S
im sure i need to reformat it. BUT it doesnt show up in 'my computer' 'finder' or even 'disk utility'
although it does show up in OSX (apple logo>about mac>System) i can clearly see it in the jump drive.
does anyone know how to solve my sticky situation.

1. If the drive inside it has failed, the data on it can only be recovered by a professional service, which may charge hundreds or thousands of dollars.
2. All drives will eventually wear out and fail. Keep any files you care about on at least two.

Plug the stick and/or card into the appropriate slots on the side of your Air. Do you see icons for the devices appear on the desktop? Click into them to see what files are there.

To upload photos from my pc onto my ipad using a usb stick. I bought a camera connector kit and tried placing the usb stick onto one of the white square adaptors, stuck it into the ipad2 and I got 'the device uses too much power'' message. Pls help.

I am not very familiar with the ipad2. I wished to transfer some photos from my pc (not an apple pc but that is the only one I have) to my ipad2 as I thought it would be easier to cull them, edit, crop etc to create albums for our recent trip (the photos are already on the pc and no longer on the camera memory card). When I place the usb stick on the adaptor and stick it onto the Ipad2 I keep getting 'device uses too much power/ requires too much power' message. I read somewhere on the internet that a usb hub could be used to solve the issue but that did not work either. What am I doing wrong? Is there actually a way around this problem. If not why does apple sell this product for Ipad users at all?

I really need this issue resolved it is driving me insane!!! How can the images appear perfectly fine on my laptop then when transferring over to a USB stick they just corrupt!?

If the problem continues take it to an Apple store and have them check it out.

NEED HELP! -installing Camera raw presets from USB Stick.
I am attempting to install the Camera Raw Presets.
It says to put them into User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings...
When I get to CameraRaw the ONLY folders in there are CameraProfiles & Lens Profiles.
I have searched everywhere looking for a CameraRaw-Settings folder and cannot find one.
I have latest version of CameraRaw installed and still no settings folder.
I even attempted to find it by looking in camera raw where it has saved the custom settings I made as presets and it shows that they are saved but will not show me where.
I am using CS5 specifically Photoshop v12.0.4 and Bridge. I have Lightroom 4. I have iMac OS 10.7.3
Do I need to reinstall Camera Raw and how do you do that?
Will I then lose my presets that I made in CameraRaw?

The Hardware Test detected a RAM problem. Take out the chips and make certain that the connections are clean and reinstall them. Make certain that they are well seated.
If the problem occurs again, test with one chip at a time. Also swap bays if necessary.
Please indicate if you have installed new RAM and if so what brand and the specifications.

Help needed after "repairing" usb stick -16gb

Hi there,
currently have a problem with my Lexar usb stick, approx. 2 years old, 16gb stick. I went for the usual cleaning method of removing files, and checking sizes of folders etc one day, and then decided to check a folder, right clicked and went the usual "get info" ....it started to think...and then ejected the usb stick. Plugged it back in, and did the same thing...same result. So the third time i plugged it back in and decided to do a repair disk in Disk Utilities.
It ran its course, and then it ejected by itself, thinking it was done its job. okay....so i unplug it from the side of my Macbook Pro...running Snow Leopard...and then plugged it back in...and nothing came up...
Usually a little light on the usb stick lights up, but nothing happened....tried plugging it in a few times, nothing.
Tried a variety of PC computers....the only thing i can see is that the disk keeps ejecting itself from the device manager....but i cannot mount it or anything.
I need help, as there are crucial files on it.
Also, when I try to do a boot to windows from Mac, when you hold option/alt down, it thinks and keeps thinking but never shows the drive. ....assuming its dead...by why can windows at least see it, just not connect it as a drive.
Whenever I try running recovery programs it does not find it.
so again, I cannot do much, but would really like to just put it out there for anyone who has successfully taken care of these problems in the past.

I've tried running Linux as well, but not too familiar with it...as the usb stick does not even connect there either.

USB stick is Flash memory you should not delete files often, the only thing you should if you need to free space on it is FORMAT.
You can try and connect it, Disk Utility should see it. Do erase and use format FAT32.
If Disk Utility does not see it, try the same on a windows PC; if that does not work either... gone:

Having various problems with a USB stick that is formatted in EX-FAT.
It was working fine for a long period.
Yesterday I lent it to a friend to put some things on it.
Now when I try and work on it, I get messages like this.
Mac OS X can’t repair the disk “Disk Name"
You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can’t save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can.
It will also randomly eject the drive.
I have tried to reformat it multiple times, in mac and windows.
[I have never used it in windows previous to this occasion of needing to reformat].
In windows, it crashes the disk when I attempt to format with disk manager [I attempted this due to advice in an internet article].
In Mac , I cannot even try to reformat it, because for some reason the permissions on the USB stick have been set to "read only" and I cannot find any way to change them to read-write, or full permissions, or whatever is appropriate.
I have tried "erase" disk in disk utility. I know how to do a full reformat, but it simply will not allow me to do so.
All the options are greyed out.
Does anybody have any information or links they can point me to?

Start over:
select the drive > select the Partition tab > select 1 Partition
select Option > select GUID Partition Table > select OK
name it > click the Apply button > then lastly click Partition

ok, so i have a macbook pro with a solid state drive so too small to keep all my music on, as i have about 140 gigs of music and audiobooks etc. therefore i have been keping my files on my timecapsule.
however updating ipods is far too slow over wireless, so i bought a 256gig usb stick.
it takes 70 hours to transfer my files, however when it completes i have about 10-20 folders with files in and the rest are empty, any ideas?

Can you describe a bit more which steps you have taken so far? Also, exactly which USB device are you using? Has it worked for you before?

Just purchased the new motherboard with my FX55 CPU and I chose this mobo as it seemed the best option at the moment.
A problem I am having is with the USB memory sticks. I have created a memory stick that is bootable. I have tested it on other pc's and it works ok but on the MSI board, it does not work. It recognises it during POST, but it will not boot.
Is there something that I must do for this to work ?

I found it finally! It treats the USB stick as a hard disk, so you have to put it first on the Hard disk priority submenu! I wish it would say that in the manual. I found it by looking at everything in the bios... I hit the Hard disk priority and the usb stick was on 2 and my hard disk on 1. As soon as I swapped them around it worked fine..

1,1 running Lion with XP Boot (re-install and what should i use for recovery disk or usb stick)?

i am trying to give my 1,1 mac pro a little love and would like to keep this machine running lion. i also have a boot camp installation of XP on it.
1. can anyone give me instructions on how/whether i can basically do a fresh install of Lion on this machine and minimize the system so it is not cluttered up with all my previous software etc, etc while still maintaining the original XP boot camp partition which i really need to have?
2. can anyone clarify for me what i should have on hand /if/ i need to boot into recovery mode or some other safe boot mode? i recently ran into an issue where i may have had to use the old Disk Utility format function and there was a reference to booting using the DVD install disks. however i am really confused as to what i should have on hand. ALSO the last time i had to do something on this machine i was told to boot into the Recovery Partition and it appears for some reason (perhaps because i had a "non-standard" windows 7 boot camp installation on the drive at the time??) that there was no recovery partition created when i upgraded to Lion.
- /anyway/ i am finding that i have the two ORIGINAL install disks for the mac pro on hand, a Max OS X Leopard and a mac OS X Snow Leopard DVD on hand but i am thinking that i should be creating some kind of USB stick similar to the one i created with yosemite? actually, i am not even sure what this USB stick for yosemite is for but i guess i can use it to boot into safe mode or something?

You have to go out of your way to build the Installer Disk yourself. But this tool makes it easy, and this site contains instructions:

Yes. Both give you access to the Utilities that used to be on the Installer DVD. Disk Utility to Repair or initialize and a few other tools that can allow you to set up to install on an otherwise-bare disk or change your password.
is "Safe Mode" something completely different
Safe Mode is a way to start the fully-Installed Operating System in a special way. It first does one pass of Disk Utility (Repair Disk) against the Boot Drive. [Normally this would require booting from a different drive to make repairs.] Then it loads a minimal set of Apple-only kernel extensions, and uses a one-size-fits-all screen resolution. Then it demands your Username and password to proceed.
From there you can fix settings, use the Finder to add or delete things, and check operation with minimal extensions versus all your daily-use extensions. Very helpful for debugging extension conflicts and graphics settings problems, and fixing damaged settings. The next Restart builds a new extensions cache.
