USB stopped working on Satellite T230

Hellow,
I'm using Satellite T230 (Windows 7 64 bits) for about a month.
Once one of the USB ports stopped working. USB-drives are not recognized at all, a mouse - the note just makes a repeat beep. That USB port doen't see a USB drive during start up.
Everything works with another port.
I tryed system recovery, BIOS update. Nothing helped.
I'm really upset and don't know what to do.
Thanks for any help

Hi Yu_1,
> I tryed system recovery, BIOS update. Nothing helped.
System recovery means you have already reinstalled Windows from Toshiba recovery disk or HDD recovery?
If yes I think you have already tried everything what you can do and it looks like a hardware malfunction :(
So as next step contact an authorized service provider in your country and ask the guys for help. They can fix your problem. I think its mainboard issue because the USB ports are fixed on it.
If your notebook is under warranty, the repair would be for free :)

  • All USB stops working after restarting iMac, please help!

I am having a serious problem with my iMac and i'm at a loss of what to do. I have a 24" imac with 10.5.6 and about a week or two ago I restarted my computer only to find that none of my USB ports were working. I thought it was a fluke so i just restarted again, only to find out that they still wernt working. I was forced to do a restore because I couldn't find a fix so I booted up from my leopard disc and did a restore from my time machine backup. I thought all was well and good until i restarted again yesterday. The same exact thing happened so I did another restore. Well, I just needed to restart my computer again and what do you know, my USB stopped working again! I have repaired permissions, done the apple hardware test, reset the PRAM, and verified the disc to see if there was anything wrong with it. I am at a total loss on what to do and Im really not looking forward to doing another restore only to have it do the exact same thing. Please help!

If you haven't tried this, try resetting the SMC: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1543?viewlocale=en_US
When you booted from the restore disk, did you run Disk Utility to check the hard disk for errors?
If not... make sure and disconnect anything connected to the USB ports first,
    To check the hard disk:
Open Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.
Insert your Mac OS X Install disc in your computer’s optical drive or an optical drive connected to your computer, and then restart your computer. When you hear the startup tone, hold down the C key until you see the progress indicator, which looks like a spinning gear.
Follow the onscreen instructions until the Menu Bar appears with the Utilities menu in it, choose Utilities > Disk Utility, click First Aid, and then click the Verify button. If DU reports errors, click Repair. When it's finished, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Disk. In the Startup Disk window select MacintoshHD 10.x.x and click Restart.
Also, click the Apple logo top left in your Desktop, click: About This Mac, then click: More Info
That will launch your System Profiler. Under Contents on the left, click: USB and make sure your USB information is there.

Go to control panel -> mouse -> last tab (Advanced or Pointing device) -> Advanced button
There you should see all touchpad settings.

  • Display stopped working on Satellite A300

    Hi Guys,
I have satellite a300 PSAg4a-02500m laptop. All of a sudden the display has stopped working on the laptop. I tried plugging an external display but that is also not working.
I cannot even see the bios screen. The laptops normally, I don't hear any beeps while booting, just the fact that there is no display.
This laptop has a ATI M86 512MB graphics card. Its out of warranty.
Has any had similar experience. Is there any way to find out what the problem might be.
    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Thanks

    Hi Tama
Im afraid there is an serious hardware problem with your notebook.
I looks like the graphic card problem.
Usually if the internal display would be faulty, you should see everything on the external display. Therefore I think you GPU is affected.

  • USB stop working over my eyes!

Bad news! One of the USB port on my ibook G4 (2004) stop working juste over my eye. I've put a memory stik in it and the computer was not able to mount it. I pull it out and When I try it again, no light. I've try my mouse in the port: notting!

    IbookG4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Problem "solved"!
I've shut down, remove the battery and wait for 5 minutes to "reset" the USB port, and now it is all fine.
Neverless, I'd really like to understant why that append and what dos it mean to "reset" a USB port...

  • After software update, airport an USB stops working. Clean install fixes it until I update

I've reset PRAM and SMC erased and reinstalled 10.6 multiple times. Everything is fine until I do a software update. I can boot into windows via boot camp and all is well, but in OS X some USB ports stop working, and airport will say no hardware installed. I've repaired permissions as well with no luck. No AppleCare left so I can not call Apple.

I have this problem too. I have the 27-inch LED cinema display connected to my Mac Pro 1,1 via the Radeon 5770. I also suspected it had something to do with the machine going to sleep, but the audio doesn't disappear every time it goes to sleep. Unplugging the monitor fixes the problem.
I also noticed that when the sound has went away, if I try to change the volume there will be a long delay before seeing the volume-change graphic. Also, toggling the sound device in System Preferences while the problem is in effect is unresponsive, sometimes giving the beach ball. Finally, this message is seen in console logs when the sound has went away:
    10/19/10 6:01:22 PM kernel USBF: 75053.200 AppleUSBEHCI[0xf3d0800]::Found a transaction which hasn't moved in 5 seconds on bus 0xfd, timing out! (Addr: 5, EP: 0)
I can make this message appear on demand by attempting to change the volume.
If (when) this happens again, I'm calling support.

  • Satelite Pro S300 - USB stopped working

    Hello
I have a 6 months old laptop Sat Pro S300-100 and are running Vista 32-bits. It's got 4 USB slots, 1 combined who is working on left side, and 3 USB2 slots on right side and these 3 suddenly stopped working. I've tried different connections, USB mouse, external disk, memory stick, but they are all dead.
I've tried to deactivited and activited them, no change. I've checked the ports and the system response are that they are working.
I've had a similar problem earlier on a Tecra 9000 some years ago and the replaced the main board.
Does anyone have a solution, please?

    Hi!
Do you have yellow marks in the device manager?
I think there is a hardware problem. Contact an ASP (authorized service provider) to repair your notebook.

  • Alrighty ... my USB stopped working

I have no idea why and not really sure where to start.  It always worked, but recently, it just ... stopped.  It works in Windows, so it's not the hardware.
So I plug in a USB thumb drive and it displays in /dev as sdb, but doesn't display the partitions.  When I do a cfdisk /dev/sdb, it says that the partition table is fubarred.  When I plug in an optical mouse, it lights, but it doesn't do anything to the cursor when I move it.
    Any ideas?

Well, here I am again blaming myself for blaming linux.  I moved my xorg.conf to xorg.conf.test and tried running the server without a config - my USB mouse works.  And it turns out that the thumbdrive's partitions were messed up to begin with.  The odds pointed at linux, but it was just testing my loyalty
I'll fix my configs and format this drive.  Thanks for the support guys!

  • Helix tablet USB stopped working

The USB port on the tablet portion of my Helix has stopped working.  It does not work with any device now. It was intermittant for awhile and then stopped completely.
Uncertain if this is a software issue or hardware and if hardware how does one change the USB port?
I have checked all drives and updates BIOS, etc.

  • Overo, usb stopped working

I'm having a puzzling problem connecting a usb camera to a gumstix overo mounted on a summit breakout board.
In short, I plug in the board, everything looks ok. I try to access the camera (even just v4l2-ctl --list-devices) and /dev/video disappears, and the usb port no longer functions (tested by plugging in a thumb drive that works prior to plugging in the camera). Here is the problem in more detail.
Plugging in the camera I get this from dmesg:
    [ 672.371398] usb 1-2: new high-speed USB device number 2 using ehci-omap

    Now, if I run:
    v4l2-ctl --list-devices
    I get:
Failed to open /dev/video0: No such file or directory
    dmesg returns:

From this point on, plugging anything into the usb port has no effect. I'm not sure if the usb hub is browning out or what.
Any suggestions on what to try next to debug this? I tried unloading and loading various modules, stopping and starting udev, etc.. to no avail. However, I am a total arch newb so I could have done all of these things wrong.
Thanks in advance for the help.
