Usb to 15 pin vga

I have a macbook and want to connect it to a projector with a 15 pin vga. The converter cables I see for sale are "Display port" to VGA. Is a display port a USB plug and is it compatible with a Macbook?

Mini DisplayPort is the newer MacBook video out plug. It's only on the 5,1, 6,1 and 7,1 models. If you're still running 10.5 you probably have the older Mini-DVI plug. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier.
Here's some MiniDVI to VGA adapters on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13#/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_23?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=mini-d vi+to+vga+adapter&sprefix=mini-dvi+to+vga+adapter&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amini-dvi+to+v ga+adapter

See the following. Also take note below and from the linked page above that video mode is NOT supported:

*Note below and from the linked page above that video mode is NOT supported*
"This adapter lets you connect devices with a Lightning connector to many of your 30-pin accessories.* Supports analog audio output, USB audio, as well as syncing and charging. Video output not supported."

  • IPad mini says the 30 pin VGA adaptor is not supported

I bought a 30 pin VGA adaptor, in the apple store. When I plug the adaptor into the iPad mini I get a pop up that says "device not supported by iPad"

If you mean you're using this:

    with this:

You can't. As it says on the first page (emphasis mine), "This adapter lets you connect devices with a Lightning connector to many of your 30-pin accessories.* Supports analog audio output, USB audio, as well as syncing and charging. Video output not supported." You need the Lightning to VGA adapter.
If that's not what you mean, please post back and clarify what it is you are using and attempting to accomplish.

  • Help: Homemade 20-pin to 15-pin VGA connector,  aligning CD lens

Hello. I'd like to revive my iMac 350 with an external monitor. Does anyone know user-friendly guide to build a homemade 20-pin to 15-pin VGA connector? Thanks.
Also, when I forced a CD that seemed to be too thick for the slot loading drive, the lens might have misaligned. I've opened it and the lens did not seem to be scratched or anytime. Does anyone have a DIY guide on how to align laser lens on this slot loading CD drive?

  • USB 3.0 pins are bent, able to RMA?

I was rebuilding my build a while back and I don't know exactly how  , but my USB 3.0 pins got bent, is it possible for an RMA?
My motherboard is a MSI Z77A-GD55 BTW.

If you mean the USB 3.0 connection on the side of the board, it's rather easy to fix, if you have a USB 3.0 connector and a small screw driver.  USB 3.0 pins are rather long (at least on the Z77A-GD65) and if you are not careful, the pins will bend when you try to push in the connector.  The fix is to carefully straighten the pins while you gently try to push in the connector.  It will take few tries, but the pin will "unbend" and you can finally push the connector in.

  • USB dies with AudioAuthority VGA- Component box?

I'm trying to get an EDTV plasma to work with an iMac G5 1.8. I am using a MiniVGA->VGA and AudioAuthority VGA->Component box to get the signal to the TV.
If I connect the to the AudioAuthority box, the USB mouse and keyboard "die". The light on the USB mouse goes out as if it was not plugged in.
Disconnect the box, and USB's back to normal.
I can connect to other VGA displays (like a projector or CRT) without the USB dying in this way. It's only the AudioAuthority box that seems to be an issue.
    Any ideas?

    We figured it out.
It looks like the problem iscaused by the male-male VGA cable that came with the Audio Authority converter.
I tried using a male-male VGA cable we had lying around and it worked without the USB issues.
The cable was for a KVM, and was missing one of the pins... so I'm not sure if this works because the pin-count's different, or if the AA cable was faulty to begin with.

How are you viewing the PPT? The dock video output is not a generic feature in iOS.  Rather, individual applications must support it, and many don't.  For example, the video app does, but (I've learned), the Xfinity app doesn't.
Test it with the video app to see if it works at all, then start investigating PPT viewers to find one that will work.

  • Vga cable: 14 vs 15 pin

I recently bought VGA splitter, that's 14 pin. My VGA cable is 15 pin.
After connecting the Cable to the splitter the monitor resolution goes down, then if the VGA cable is directly connected to the PC vga adapter.
So, I looked online to see diffrence between the 14 and 15 pin VGA. I could not find much information, but few blogs. They say 1 or 2 pins are obsolute, so there is no diffrence between 14 and 15 pin cable.
Then, I boght a 14 pin VGA cable to try. But it don't give the high resolution as 15 pin cable. It's same low resolution picture as 15 pin cable with splitter attached.
So is it right that 14 and 15 pin VGA cables are same, and if that's right do I need and display setting changed?
Connecting 14 pin cable don't even  give the resolution option as 15  pin cable give in Display settings. There is only 3 option.

I have seen this problem and question in various forms many times, and have never seen the correct answer given. So here is the answer. Please spread it around, since many people seem to have the problem:
VGA 15 pin cables often have only 14 active pins. Pin 9 is missing. (This missing pin is on the middle row of pins, one pin from the end.) This missing pin is a problem for flat screen TVs.
Pin 9 is required by most, if not all, plasma and lcd TV's to supply back to the computer graphics card information about the available resolution of the monitor. Pin 9 carries a 5 volt signal to the DDC (display data channel). New computer monitors (LCD or CRT) do not seem to need this pin, and work fine without it -- as a result the majority of VGA cables labeled as "15 pin" really only have 14 pins, and this is never explained or noted in the packaging or product specifications! The only way to tell if a "15 pin" VGA cable actually has all 15 pins is to look at the connector and count the pins. If the middle row has only 4 pins, then the critical pin 9 is missing.
From the posts I have seen -- and from my own experience with my 50" Pioneer PDP-5070HD plasma TV -- nearly all flat screen TV's DO NEED this pin to return information about the native screen resolution.
I have seen dozens of posts by people trying to set up their HTPC's to work with their big screen plasma, but not being able to set the resolution (usually 1360 x 768) on their video adapter card. Some people on the forums argue they had "no problem" while others cannot make it work. People blame the video card or video card drivers. No one seems to figure out the problem is a missing pin on the supposedly standard "15 pin VGA cable" many people are using!
I had the same problem with my ATI 9800 Pro graphics card using a 15 pin VGA cable with only 14 pins. When I changed to a full and true 15 pin cable, the ATI 9800 immediately sensed the native resolution of the plasma TV.
So the difference between a 15 pin and a 14 pin VGA cable is not "just one pin", as one sarcastic idiot answered to a previous post of this question. The absence of the pin 9 signal (5 volt to the DDC) means your your very expensive plasma or LCD TV cannot notify your computer graphics card about its supported resolution. Get a VGA cable with all 15 pins, and your problem may be resolved. But you will have to search to find one by visually examining the plug. Remember, all the VGA cables are labeled and sold as "15 pin VGA cable" even if they actually have only 14 pins. Check it out.
(BTW, there is a reason to leave the 5 volt signal off the cable when it is not needed. However, for LCD and Plasma TV's, it is needed.)

  • USB to VGA using HDMI adapters

I have an XPS 18 (1810 early 2013) and purchased two connectors from Future Shop to allow me to display a PowerPoint off my Dell All-in-one XPS tablet through a vga projector onto a screen. When connecting the adapters (one usb-hdmi, then hdmi-vga) it shows the 'background' only, not the applications or anything on the desktop. I only displayed this after getting it to look as though it were a second screen. I'm sure I'm not doing this right, but no instructions came with the adapters nor can I find any in Dell's website. Anyone know how to cause an application or ideally the entire full desktop to display through the adapters?  I am running windows 8.1 on my touchscreen all-in-one. I tried all the various F keys (like I would do off a regular laptop) but none did the trick.
    Thank you
    Robbin

Somewhere in your display adapter settings there will be a checkbox to mirror the primary display - that's what you need to look for (and set).

  • Is the 30 pin conector usb cable that comes with the ipad the same that comes with the iphone?

    Hi
Recently I've try to charge mi iPad 3er gen. with the usb cable 30 pin that comes with the iPhone 4S (original) via my MacBook Air, but when I had plug it into the usb port, my iPad started to make like repetitive sounds (charging, not charging sounds) and  iTunes dont recognized the ipad, I was worried, so I disconnected the cable and tried it with the same that comes with my iPad and works fine, I am thinking that the usb cable from my iPhone is damaged or something, but i want to know, from the experience that some of you would have, if this is right or wrong.
    Thank you so much.

Yes ur probably best to charge your iPad with the supplied iPad charger some laptops don't have enough grunt to charge the iPad if it does the charging may be slow

  • USB comm to a 9 Pin device

I have a device that we sell and a LV application (built using V5.1) that is a 9pin serial and receives simple ascii commands and ships back ascii data. With the demise of the 9 pin, many of our users have gone to a USB to 9 Pin adapter and all works ok. Lately, we have been getting intermittent results on newer operating systems. Basically, sometimes the communications occurs and sometimes it does not, even on the same PC/device. I am looking for suggestions of what might be going on and possible solutions. Thanks is advance for any help.

The NI USB-232 boxes support both DTE and DCE operation modes in addition to an "Auto232" mode that simplifies cabling (null-modem? straight-through? doesn't matter!). Also the USB-232 has indicators for transmit, receive, error, and signal validity which aides device communication development. In addition NI's serial products support 5,6,7,8 data bits, NOEMS parity, and RS-232 baud rates up to 230.4k with a driver architecture designed from the ground-up to support the higher serial bandwidth.
These features are all in addition to the world class support that differentiates National Instruments from other vendors.

Recently read on a deal site forum page that you can only use Apple lightning cables to charge iPad Air or iPad Mini Retina running iOS 7 or higher. Is that the case or will any 8-pin to USB cable work? Thx in advance for any helpful replies.

Due to a lot of bad press that Apple was getting due to burnt chargers, shocked users (the electrical kind...), etc., due to the lousy third party El Cheapo brand generics, as of iOS 7 the cable must be Apple-certified before the iGadget deigns to use it for charging purposes. Unfortunately (for Apple) the old traditional USB to 30-pin cable is just that, a straight piece of wire, and can't be validated by the iGadget. But lo & behold, the new gear uses the new Lightning cable, which contains an embedded chip that CAN be validated and lousy imitations disabled from use.
