Usb to external mixer

I am experimenting with using ipad2 in live performance and have found the Traxx app does what I need (mostly).
I am currently using the cam conn kit with the usb out connected to a Bose T1 mixer. This sounds WAY better than the headphone jack out.
The problem is every few songs, I lose the connection to the mixer, have to unplug the cable and plug it back in. The app just freezes when this happens but never happens in the middle of a song playing(backing tracks). Just when paused in between songs. This has happened while using Backtrax as well. Same issue.
I'm wondering if different cabling might resolve this ie: Apple 30 pin to usb A to a Usb A->usb B adapter into the mixer. IOW, not using the camera kit.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Sure this is possible, but in order to provide you with some sensible advice we need more info about your setup in general! Such as, the computer, any audio interface, what sort of external mixer, etc?
Have a nice day!

  • Need help on connecting USB: 300GB external hard drive to wireless router

    Hello,
I am trying to connect USB2.0 Maxtor 300GB external hard drive to my wireless router. Tried using Linksys new product NSLU2 which allows any USB cable external hard drive to NSLU2 device/network storage hub and then connect this NSLU2 directly to wireless router with the help of 10/100 Ethernet cable which allows to access external hard drive wirelessly.
Unfortunately Linksys NSLU2 is designed to supports USB external drives up to 250GB only.
Can any one advice me if there is any device I can use to connect my external hard drive to wireless router and access files without connecting/carrying USB external drive?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Recording from an external mixer in GB (line in)

    Dear everyone,
Now I have succesfully managed to record into GB from my external mixer. But the problem is that it stops recording when it has recorded about 999 seconds, or something like that. Is it possible to anything about that?
    Any kind of help appreciated!

  • Why is using an external mixer important?

    Hello,
I am still a little confused on a couple of things. I know that it is best to monitor sound externally but why should you also need a mixer. Is the mixer used just for monitoring/adjusting the sound coming out of the speakers or is it for making adjustments to your project's audio in final cut pro. How is the mixer being hooked up to the computer (Mac Pro)? Is it via some sort of capture card? Please explain. I am used to using the audio interface that final cut pro has built in with its own set of mixers so I am wondering why do you need (or should use) an external mixer also.
    Thanks.

Thank you for the response Silal. I guess I may still be a little confused. Is the mixer directly affecting the audio in final cut pro or is it strictly monitoring the audio in the time line. With the use of the mixer I can connect a mic..., Which I understand, but if that is the case than I will be able to directly alter the audio content by being able to add the audio from the mic, and if that is so, then I guess FCP will recognize the mixer and I will be able to directly affect the audio. Is that correct? I know I am probably making this harder than it is. I just want to know fundamentally if using an external mixer allows me to alter the audio directly or just monitor the output. And is connecting it via the standard Mac audio input all that is needed or do I need other hardware. Sorry if I have made this even more confusing.

  • Can i make a video and use an external mixer for the sound?

can i make a video and use an external mixer for the sound with my ipod touch?

You need a special plug to use the iPod's mic in for the headphone jack. If you compare a headphone plug for a set that includes a mic and one that does not you can see that there is a difference.

  • USB 2 external case is not working on my Mac!! please help!

Hi, I have a macbook air OS X 10.7, and I plugged in usb 2 external case for the first time, so i could transfer my files, but somehow, its not working, its like it has been locked and its not doing any action!! please help me!

Do you mean an external HD in an enclosure with USB 2 or a USB stick? In any case, open Disk Utility and make sure it is formatted as OS X Extended (Journaled). You can also Verify and Repair the volume.

  • USB 2 external hard drive won't mount on my G4 dual 450

I had a problem with my Intel iMac and had to take it for service. I tried to hook up the lacie usb 2 external drive that was my backup for the imac to my G4 but it won't mount (using the built in usb 1.1). I also have a usb 2 and firewire card in this machine and that won't work either.
It will mount on my G4 powerbook though, at usb1.1.
I don't see why the older G4 wount mount it too. Any ideas?

    Pat,
When connected, does it show up in Disk Utility? If so, it's failure to mount is probably due to restrictive permissions and differing ownership. In other words, you probably have permissions for the volume set such that only the "owner" can access it, and said ownership differs on your G4 tower.
In fact, the drive is probably mounting, but the mounted volume is inaccessible to you (on the tower).
If you find that the drive is, in fact, showing up in Disk Utility, and you wish to access it from the tower, let us know. There are steps you can take to correct the problem.

  • Can not get my Envy 15 3040nr to recognise my USB connected external hard drive

    Hi All,
Have recently upgraded my HP Envy 15 3040 nr to Windows 8. All good except it wont recognise my USB connected external hard drive. At first I thought my USB port(s) might be faulty as it did recognise the drive a few weeks back but now it wont. Tried connecting other USB devices and they worked no problem.
I have also recently upgraded the BIOS on my laptop and wonderd if this might be the root cause. All in all somewhat perplexed.
    Any ideas, suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Hi
In order to resolve the issue that I think that you  should uninstall the Universal Serial Bus controller in Device manger by uninstalling all options under the USB controller.
Then restart the laptop and uninstall driver will be installed automatically.
Tell me all findings that external harddrive is detected or not.

  • I'd like to do new final mixes using an external mixer with fx.

    Hello,
I would like to do new final mixes on my tunes from GB. I can't seem to achieve the clarity and equalization in my final mixes like that of a song on the radio. I've been told that my music sounds like it was recorded on my hard drive, which I totally don't understand.
I've been using GB for more than 3 years and I'm learning my way around LE8. I don't understand much at all about bus paths and sends.
Is there an external mixer that doesn't cost thousands that I could get to re-do my final mixes and achieve that radio sound quality?
I use only midi/software instruments aside from voice. Mic-pre-amps, phantom power for my condenser mics and possibly midi i/o would be great features to include in this mixer I so longingly seek.
I hope all of this makes sense. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks guys!

I didn't know that GB had mastering capabilities. When I got the comment that my music sounds like it was "recorded on my hard drive" I thought that was the reason my final mixes have that "cloudy" sound.
Any tips on mastering using GB and LE8?
It's good to know that I don't need to purchase any additional hardware in order to get radio quality sound in my final mixes. I am more than eager to learn how to get a professional finished product.
    much appreciated.

  • Will a USB or FireWire mixer allow me to record multiple tracks simultaneously in GB?

Hi there. I'm very much new to home recording but have an acoustic guitar and mic that I'd like to connect up to my iMac. I was wondering if a USB or FireWire mixer would allow me to record each instrument as an individual track in GB or would the sound all be compressed into one track? Many thanks for your help.

yes, but if all you need are two tracks, even an analogue mixing console will work. a tutorial:

  • USB 2 external drives not showing up

    Hi,
I have tried 2 USB 2 external drives with my Powerbook. Neither is recognized by the OS so I can't even try to format them. I was able to format the first one on my old 500 mhz Powerbook (Pismo, I guess) running OS 9.2.2 and turning it into a Standard Mac OS, Mac extended and then a DOS drive. None were recognized by the newer Powerbook and once I had formatted the drive to DOS I couldn't format it any other way. That drive, a WD My Passport Essential, was formatted when shipped as a Windows (FAT32?) drive.
My newer external drive, a Toshiba (who knows what model since they don't say anything on the box or drive), is not recognized by the OS either. It is probably formatted for Windows and I could try to format it on the old Powerbook but instead of going down that road I wonder if there is some reason I am not able to format it with the new one.
The USB ports work. Other devices, printers and a camera, always work when plugged into them.
The drives are USB 2.0. My Powerbook (both actually) uses USB 1. Is that the problem? I've read that USB 2 is backward compatible so I don't understand why I'm having such trouble getting either to work.
    All help is appreciated.
    Cheers,
    John

If these are bus-powered drives, they aren't getting enough power from the PB's USB ports to be fully operational. There are three remedies:
    1. Use external AC adapters with the drives if available.
    2. Plug the drives into an AC-powered USB hub instead of directly into the computer.
    3. Use a USB "Y" cable to draw power for the drive from two USB ports rather than just one.
USB 2 is backward-compatible with USB 1.1; that isn't the problem.

  • Audio monitoring- external mixer or Mac line-out?

Is it preferable to monitor audio from FCP through an external mixer (Mackie 1202) or is it OK to simply set output to the Macpro line-out?
(I notice the Bars and tone peak at -12- which reads as -10 on my mixer.
For some reason i have always been used to setting my peak at 0 on the mixer
So I'm confused if i should forget the external mixer all together- and just turn it on for the rare occasion I import analog signal)

The main reasons for using an external analog mixer like the 1202 are:
    1. if you need a level control for your monitor speakers.
    2. if you have other analog sound sources that you want to mix in with your computer output
    3. if you need to need two headphone outputs for a voiceover session
For most activities, you don't really need it.
However, monitoring from your headphone output, whether it goes through
a mixer or not, is not the best choice for computer audio.
The best way to monitor your computer's audio is with a Firewire audio
interface, taking digital out from FCP, and using high-quality converters
to convert it to analog. Something like this:
    http://www.mackie.com/products/onyx820i/
The meter on your 1202 is for analog signals. Typically you set those
levels to be about 0dB on the Mackie's meter, which should correspond
to +4 dBu on your main analog outputs.
The meter in FCP is for digital audio. On that meter 0dB represents the
absolute maximum, with no headroom, so you'll want to keep your levels
    around -12dB, more accurately -12dBFS.
Since the headphone output is not pro, it would make sense that
-12dBFS = -10dBu. In other words, your headphone jack's normal
analog output level is lower than the normal pro audio +4dBu.

  • Burn ISO to USB or external HD with Disk Utility

I am desperately trying to burn a ISO file to a USB and external HD but Disk Utility does not want to. Instead I get the error message "Could not validate source - error 254". So there must be a problem with the source which is the ISO file.
I already tried setting the Partition Map Scheme to both Master Boot Record and GUID Partition Table. I also formatted the drive to FAT and HFS+. I cannot find the cause of this error. It clearly looks like Disk Utility does not like burning ISOs to USBs or HDs.
However, I really really need to this since I cannot burn ISOs with my SuperDrive which is also a common problem ( http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1918925&start=0&tstart=0 ) with my MacBook Pro.
I am 100% sure the ISO file is fine. Also checked the SHA-1 and everything else is fine. I should also mention that the ISO file is the Windows 7 RC. So yeah..this time it's not Windows' fault.
I just need a way to install Windows without using the optical drive. I don't even want to think about what I will do when Snow Leopard comes out...

Start with the google hits for a search of *error 254 disk utility.*

  • Apple USB Modem + External Subwoofer = Bad Interference?

Does anyone know the inards of an Apple USB modem well? i just installed my 22"LG monitor and now i cant get on the net through the USB Modem cuz it interferes with the subwoofer. it would dial then go crazy and make my computer freeze. then i decided to unplug my subwoofer and everythings worked fine. any ideas?

That is strange, are they very close to each other? The subwoofer may have a strong magnet inside it, keep the modem away from it. I use an external subwoofer on the floor, my MacBook is on a stand on a desk with the modem hanging off the back of the desk. I also use an external monitor. I had used dial-up for a short while before I got cable, and still use the USB modem for occasional faxing, so you should be able to use all those things simultaneously: USB modem, external speakers, external monitor, if you are having problems, you might need to take it to an Apple store and see if you can replicate the problem, if they can fix it (under warranty?). Maybe try using an externally powered USB hub for the modem?
