USB to HDMI adapter cuts out randomly

My CableMatters USB3.0 to HDMI adapter worked great in the previous version of OSX, but now it will randomly throughout the day go blank, all the windows will migrate to another monitor (I use 2 external monitors on my MBP), and then pop back on after 3-5 seconds.  This issue is known to CableMatters (and other makers of these types of devices), but they say the issue is on Apple's end.  I was surprised to see there wasn't an entry about this here so figured I'd post one, hoping to get Apple's attention to it.  I've also submitted a bug report (15492402).  Unfortunately, search on the bug report site doesn't seem to work for terms, so I'm not sure how many other reports have been submitted for this issue.

Unfortunately, I have the same problem, but using USB devices and Displaylink software.  I know there are issues with Displaylink software as they say the problem is with Apple.  I have three external monitors with a late 2008  I Macbook Pro which gives me four screens.  I was able to get two to work + the Macbook, but there were so many issues, like you described, that I have given up and I am just using the Mini Display port which gives me one external and the Macbook.  Looks like we will just have to wait until Apple does something.  I have found no other solutions at this point - hardware or otherwise.

  • Why does my mini display port to hdmi adapter cut out intermittently?

I have a MacBook Air 2012. Using a bestbuy mini display port to hdmi adapter connecting to a sony led tv.  The picture and sound transmits to the tv, but the signal would cut out after 10-15 seconds and it would last about 3-5 seconds and then the picture would come back again.

to me something happened similar to me but after removing the connector and put it back was solved, and now to use it with my TV I have to make sure both are well connected to both the Mac and plug the HDMI cable and adapter tv .
I hope that solves your problems resolved as mine
    Blessings.
    Bendiciones.

  • Micro USB to HDMI adapter support on Encore 2 WT8-B-102

I would like to know, if there is any chance to connect this tablet to TV/Monitor through the micro usb port by attaching a micro usb to HDMI adapter? If yes, is there any specific adapter being compatible with this Tablet device?
    Thanks for the support
    Alex

First of all it’s not possible to use USB port (micro USB) in order to output the video signal. The USB port does not support such functionality.
According to the tablet's specification page the WT8-B does not support video out interface (HDMI etc..) and therefore it's not possible to connect it directly to the TV device.

  • AT300SE - Connect to TV using MHL micro usb to hdmi adapt

    Hi,
I recently received the Toshiba Tablet AT300SE. This newer tablet no longer has the HMDI connection port. However it has the micro USB. My question is, can I use this micro USB to connect to my TV using the micro a USB to HDMI adapter?
Has anyone ever done this and made it work?
    Thanks,
    Nick

Here an interesting info from Toshiba:

  • USB to HDMI adapter for external display in clamshell mode?

    Hello.
Does anyone know of a USB to HDMI (or DVI) adapter so that I can connect an external display (with an HDMI or DVI cable) to a USB port on my Macbook air?
I need to run it in clamshell mode, mirroring the Air display. The Monoprice  USB to HDMI adapter (which uses DislplayLink drivers) I tried does not work properly in clamshell mode with mirroring (though it works in arrangement mode).  I know I can use the Thunderbolt port, but I need to leave this free for a Firewire device.
    Thanks.

  • Displayport /USB to HDMI adapter compatibility under the Bootcamp

I read that the Displayport/ USB to HDMI adapter works well with Apple but has anyone tested within Windows environment under Bootcamp? Are there drivers that support the adapter already?

Usually, A *[USB to HDMI Adapter|http://www.espow.com/wholesale-usb-multi-display-adapter-for-computer-a dd-on-a-second-monitor.html]* can work in MacBook/Windows OS.. You just need to download the usb display adapter driver.. • Triple monitor with intel and SenseVision Club 3d usb to hdmi adapter

    Hi,
I have an all in one machine with a single intel VGA:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200 v2/3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)
I also have an external monitor which works fine. I would like to use a third monitor through the SenseVision Club 3d usb to hdmi adapter (Chipset: DL-195).
    http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/produc … apter.html
I'm using the udlfb module with the option: fb_defio=1
The monitor attached to the usb to hdmi adapter turns green when the machine starts.
The problem is that I'm able to use only one adapter at the time. So I can use the integrated monitor and the external one attached to the intel VGA or the monitor attached to the usb to hdmi adapter but not all of them together.
    Here is my xorg.conf:
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "intel"
    Driver "intel"
    # BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
    EndSection
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "dl1"
    Driver "fbdev"
    # BusID "PCI:0:3:0"
    Option "fbdev" "/dev/fb1"
    EndSection
    Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "monitor0"
    EndSection
    Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "monitor1"
    EndSection
    Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "monitor2"
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "screen0"
    Device "dl1"
    Monitor "monitor0"
    #DefaultDepth 16
    #DefaultDepth 24
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "screen1"
    Device "intel"
    Monitor "monitor1"
    #DefaultDepth 16
    DefaultDepth 24
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "screen2"
    Device "intel"
    Monitor "monitor2"
    #DefaultDepth 16
    DefaultDepth 24
    EndSection
    Section "ServerLayout"
    Identifier "multihead"
    Screen 0 "screen0" 0 0
    Screen 1 "screen0" LeftOf "screen1"
    Screen 2 "screen1" LeftOf "screen2"
    Option "Xinerama" "on"
    EndSection
Switching the screen0 and screen1 positions in the xorg.conf makes work the intel vga. The current configuration enables only the usb monitor. The screen2 is discarded by the xorg stating that none monitor is attached to the device.
I also tried to tinker with the BusID values. Specifying BusID "USB" makes the xorg crash.
Is it possible at all to use three monitors at the time with the current state of art? Any success story with this setting?
Could you please share your working xorg.conf if you have any?
    Any suggestion?
    Thank you very much.

    Apparently yes,
    According to the thread:
To restore to the old behaviour, put this in your ~/.drirc:
    <driconf>
      <device screen="0" driver="i915">
        <application name="Default">
          <option name="vblank_mode" value="0" />
        </application>
      </device>
    </driconf>
But I don't come back to the same perfs as before (tested with eternal lands).
I noticed that in my /var/log/Xorg.0.log:
    (WW) intel(0): Register 0x61200 (PP_STATUS) changed from 0xc0000008 to 0xd0000009
(WW) intel(0): PP_STATUS before: on, ready, sequencing idle
(WW) intel(0): PP_STATUS after: on, ready, sequencing on
(WW) intel(0): Register 0x71024 (PIPEBSTAT) changed from 0x00020202 to 0x00020000
    (WW) intel(0): PIPEBSTAT before: status: VBLANK_INT_ENABLE VSYNC_INT_STATUS VBLANK_INT_STATUS
(WW) intel(0): PIPEBSTAT after: status: VBLANK_INT_ENABLE
There seem to be some problem with mtrr
I found this problem which seems related but I only have 2GB of memory

  • IMac hdmi audio cut out

    Hi guys,
Here is my setup: iMac 2010 (10.6.8) with an hdmi adapter to my sony bravia tv. The picture is fine but when playing any type of media, the media will play for about 10 seconds then cut out for 2-4 seconds at a time in perfect increments. The weird thing is that my macbook air, using the same cable, plays everything fine and whenever I hook up my iMac to my samsung tv it works fine as well? It seems as though my iMac and my sony aren't getting along and have no idea why this could be when the macbook air works fine with it? Any help would be amazing!!
    Thanks!

I'm using a motu828. I disconnected the firewire connection, and ran audio from the headphone jack to the motu, and VOILA, no problems... Last year, I went thru two motu units, not really sure if they are the issue.
I think it might be LOGIC's firewire circuitry. Apple techs couldn't find the issue, I had the G5 motherboard replaced. Another factor was I had 3 Lacie firewire drives (2 firewire 800, 1 400) I have had 4 Lacie drives die on me in the last 3 years. They are the only firewire drives I have, so I don't know if the fault lies with them, or the again Apples firewire circuitry, stressing the drives out???
I also put a firewire 800 card in my system.
I have now switched to an external ESATA raid setup. No more firewire drives. So far so good. Since I had the whole motherboard replaced, I don't know what that means in terms of MOTU connected via firewire..
For now, I'm running audio out of headphone jack, using all virtual instruments, so I know it will sound better when I get firewire audio up and running, but I got tired of it cutting out every 3 - 30 minutes. I'm thinking about the apogee duet unit. But again if it's connected via firewire, I don't know where that leaves me..
My G5 is three and half years old, perhaps it's tired and wants to be retired....
The dark part of me wonders, if Apple computers don't start crapping out after three years of heavy use, or is it that technology, software, updates, push the hardware beyond it's capacity after a few years.

  • EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE CUTS OUT RANDOMLY

    Forum,
While in working in FCP, my external hard drive (G-Raid 2) keeps cutting out - 3 times in the past few hours.
I think it's a bad connection, but I'm not sure.
    Any tips?
    Thank you,
    Trey

Check the cable connections and power supply.
Could also be drives going bad. Does it only happen undwer certain circumstance (when you step away and the computer sleeps, during long renders, etc.?) Or is random?

  • USB mouse skips and "cuts out"

    Hi,
I'm having a very strange problem. I'm using an USB mouse from Microsoft (IntelliMouse Explorer).
Its an optical mouse with a wire connecting to the usb port of the macbook pro 17".
My MacBook Pro is the top of the line one.
The problem i'm experiencing is that quite often, the mouse "cuts out" and i'm moving it about but the arrow is "stuck". I then try to move the arrow with my finger on the trackpad and there is no problem. A few second later the mouse works again. This happens about avery thirty seconds and is very annoying.
I tried to buy another mouse from Logitech - a very expensive one. But...it also happens with this mouse.
So, it must be the mac.
It hasnt been happening all the time, but since i dont have the time to do a all new install of the operating system (i'm using the all new version), I am really not sure what to do about it at the moment, so i'm living with it...
Am i the only one who has experienced this?
    Kind regards
    Nitnellav

You are not the only one on this issue, either I am also experiencing this same issue. With every USB mouse I use. I have a wired logitech g5 mouse and the razr mamba. They both experience this "cut off" and "sticking" issue, that you explained. Its especially noticeable in games. I use OSX 10.6.1 and Windows 7 via bootcamp 3. I am running the latest MBP model 15 inch.

  • The audio on my iPhone 4s cut out randomly; I have to unplug and replug headphones to get it back. How can I fix this?

For the last year I have been unable to use my iPhone speakers because of some bug. I can play music and audio through headphones, but that's it. And just today even the headphones became spotty. I'll play a song (through iTunes) for a while, then the audio will just cut out. I can get it back by unplugging and replugging the headphones (sometimes multiple times) but that fix doesn't last long; usually within a few minutes (if not much sooner) the music cuts out again.
I really don't want to buy a new one because this one otherwise works fine. How can I fix this?

  • My rMBP HDMI display cuts out once per session

I have a rMBP (15 inch) that I use mostly with the lid closed and connected to dual monitors, (both identical ASUS monitors with HDMI and DVI-D connections).  I use the Thunderbolt DVI-D adapter and a HDMI cable.  When either running Windows 7 via Bootcamp or using Mountain Lion, the HDMI connection goes dark for about 3-5 seconds when I first start using the computer, then the picture reappears.  The DVI-D connection is not affected.
All software updates are current and I've switched monitors and cables to no avail.  Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Thanks. We are using the same setup the salesman sad he had at home: Mac Mini as media server with TV as monitor. We bought the server, not for the services, rather for the two 500GB drives. We let the default services run when we first set it up. I suppose I could shut everything non-essential down and see what happens.
I finally isolated the problem to today to either the HDMI cable, the miniDVI-to-HDMI adapter, or the Mac Mini itself. I would love for it to be just the adapter. Funny thing is the guy who sold us the system didn't know an adapter came with it so he sold us another one--which we promptly took back. Blergh!
This was supposed to be an easy migration. Imagine the naivete!

  • PB cuts out randomly

My powerbook 15inch is cutting out on me, i start up the computer it seems fine at first then the power goes this seems too happen whether it is plugged into the wall or running off battery? Any ideas?
    Powerbook G4 15 inch   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
You might run the Apple hardware test to see if it points anything out. Insert the first OS X DVD that came with your system (it will say AHT Version x.x in small print on the DVD), reboot holding the option key down, choose Apple hardware test, and follow directions.
You might try resetting the Power Management Unit (PMU) also. Follow directions athttp://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449

  • IPhone 6 Music cuts out randomly during songs

My iPhone 6 has been doing this really weird thing where on certain songs the music will just cut out. The phone still says it's playing the song, but there is no sound coming from my phone. It does this regardless of if I use headphones or not.
Like I said, it's only on certain songs, and it always stops at the same time during each song (I.e. one song will always stop when there's 43 seconds lefts, one song will always stop when there's 19 seconds left, etc). The songs play perfectly when I play them using iTunes on my computer, so it's not the song. I also tried removing all of my music from my phone and then putting it back on there, as well as a full restore. Nothing has worked.
My iPhone is currently running on OS 8.1.3. If anyone could help me, I would be so grateful. Thanks in advance.

aha. If you synch your phone it delete all music but next time if you delet it manually by phone it transfers the music and next sync it will delete all music again, right? When I have had that trouble I just have to disable iTunes match and delete the music manually if it's not do automatically. Then I could sync it and the music will load and remaining on the phone, also for further syncs.
