USB to iPad, via Camera Cnctr e.g. Midi V-drum set, & Fender Mustang Amp

I've got the camera connector working with Roland V-Drum kit (TD4 Brain midi out), and also with a Fender Mustang Amp.
Drums: From brain (midi out) into M-Audio Uno (midi to usb), into iPad camera connector kit (usb to ipad) into iPad. Just open the drum set in iPad Garageband: kick, snare, crash, three toms, the bow and foot pedal on hat, and top of the ride all work perfectly, with dynamics according to how I'm playing my drum kit. The only limitations at this point: the hi hat rim/edge on my VH 11 hat makes no sound, (which affects playing style) and I am unable to trigger the bell sound while hitting my ride cymbal (Cy-8). (Might be able to adjust both of these through the Roland brain). In any case, it was plug and play: played and recorded a sweet groove very easily!
Keyboard: I expect that a midi keyboard, working through the uno to camera connector will work as well.
Guitar and Bass: Both of the following work: the Fender Mustang Amp, which has USB out, into the camera connector; and the iRig, through the audio input. I tried the Apogee Gio through the camera connector but that does not work ("requires too much power"). The new Apogee product in the ads is supposed to work nonetheless, and will go through the ipad connector rather than through the audio in.
In any case, I think we can now say it: The iPad is now a full blown 8 track recording studio, with midi capability. Way to go Apple!

Hi guys
Sounds like things are looking promising for me (I hope)! I've just purchased the iPad 2 and have GB installed. I'm a muso (drummer) with a Roland TD9 kit, so I'm keen to record my drums into GB.
Reading this thread has inspired me to take the plunge and buy:
- MIDI to USB cable
- USB/SD card reader for iPad
I'm now hoping, once these arrive from shipping next week, that my prayers will be answered!
Any other experience or advice from others is appreciated. I'd also like to know about that hihat issue that someone was having with their TD4 rim triggering. I also just have the standard Roland hihat, so grateful for anyone's feedback on whether that's working for them??
Thanks guys!

  • My Samsung Galaxy Camers SD Card just won't work on my iPad via the camera connector - please help!

Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy Camera and I try to connect my Micro SDHC card via the iPad camera connector kit.
This has worked in the past with other memory cards but this is a new one and each time I go to the import option on my photos it says "No Photo"
I use an adapter to connect the sd card as it's micro, I have tried my other adapter to connect the camera via the lead however the accessory is not supported due to the camera needing more power!
I have read someone else's post and they suggested to reformat the card, I have used the disc utility to format it however it's saying its FAT32. I can't seem to format my card through my camera either?!
I'm at a loss as to what I can do and my local Apple store have stopped giving appointments to the Genius Bar so hoping someone here might help me out
I want to use my camera at christmas but know the picture upload is going to be a nightmare!!!
    Thanks

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Can i copy photos from my nikon to the ipad via usb

can i copy photos from my nikon to the ipad via usb

You need to verify that you Nikon will look like a flash drive when you plug it into a usb port.  My Nikon CoolPix s6300 does not.
Plug your Nikon into a usb port on your computer.  See if the camera appears on your computer as a flash drive.

You can use iPhoto for the import. iLife apps are integrated. From within iMovie you have direct access to iTunes for adding music, and iPhoto for photos and videos in the iPhoto library.
Or you can use the Image Capture application for the import if you prefer placing such imports into manually created folders and not using iPhoto.

  • IPad's camera connector kit to use a USB DAC on iPod?

I understand that the iPad's camera connector kit can be plugged into an iPad to use a USB audio interfaces such as an external DAC. Will this be possible with an iPod 5.5G?

According to previoss reports, it does not work with an older iPod. However, there may be other third party products that offer this functionality for your older iPod.

If you're really trying to use Windows 2000, then that's the problem. As you'll see on the box, you need at least XP/SP3.

Thanks Fred. The nearest Apple store is about two hours away, so we did the next best thing & took it to Best Buy. It stumped the "Apple Guy" there. Apparently when an Apple product is turned on it works. Period. I'm impressed that the products are normally so dependable--it just stinks that I got the one in a million that's not. Anyway, now we wait for a service call Tuesday morning. Thanks again!

transfer of photos from ipod to ipad via bluetooth, help

The blluetooth isn't meant to do that. It's largely meant for headphones and keyboards.
now, if you have the camera connection kit  you can attach your iPod to your iPad using that (plugging the iPod's charging cable to the USB part of the CCK) and the photos will transfer. I've done it with my Touch.
