Usb to Usb bridge drivers for osx?

I recently acquired a usb bridge. I need to connect this to my pc and macbook. There are drivers on this site (http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?ID=30), however the drivers are only for Windows. I need drivers for an intel mac (preferably leopard).
Can someone please help me

Hi and welcome to Discussions,
if Prolific as the manufacturer of the bridge-chip doesn't offer any Mac OSX drivers, then no one will.
I myself have one of these lying around from my PC-days (useless now...).
You can however connect your PC and your Mac using a standard Ethernet cable, see here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2518

  • Wireless usb adapter EW-7711UAn, drivers for Mac OSX 10.9 (Mavericks)

    Hi,
I have recently got a wifi usb adapter (above indicated) as my airport card is not working anymore and I needed a quick cheap option... After hours and hours trying to make the new device work, it seems the problem is the version of the drivers (there´s not drivers for Mac OSX 10.9) or that´s what I think. Does anyone know something about it? In the meantime I am waiting for an answer from MediaTek (the owner)... I´ll let you know if as soon as I get a reply what happens
    cheers!

this adapter is using the chip RT2870 of Ralink. You can download its driver for OSX 10.9 frome Ralink website.

  • Why are drivers for older hp scanners not available?

I have an older HP scanner (5730c) that works perfectly [and I need it and use it all the time].  Now with the upgrade to Lion, it does not work with my Mac.  HP does not have a fix (e.g. new driver) for this problem.
Lucky me - HP is going down the tubes and I wont have to even consider buying another of their products!
HOWever: Auto manufacturers are required, by law, to maintain a supply of parts/components on their products for years after the model has been discontinued.
WHY does the computer bsns not have to do the same thing?  Some products that I have had in the past continued to work just fine long after the product/line has been "improved".  BUT parts and software were no longer available!
Is it not time that this problem is FIXED?  Not everyone has deep pockets to replace perfectly good products just to keep the industry happy.
Does ANYone know of a fix for my scanner??????

HP are hopeless at updating drivers for OSx.
I have a scanjet 3570 that works under windows, but has not worked under OSX since 10.4.11
As for printer at least Apple do write CUPS drivers for many devices including HP printers.
Halfcrak - There is a differing protocol for driver support in OSx as Apple do try to build in many MORE simple support drivers as standard and for a variety of gadgets, rather than relying on venders in the windows world.
This does lead to more reliable plug and play however may be at the expense of special features/functions offered by venders under Windows.
Suffice to say OSx still needs drivers to interface with printers. monitors, scanners USB devices etc.......
As for ios and Airprint compatible printers this assumes the drivers actually remain on the printer and communicating over email to send the print command.

  • Need Geforce 9400m driver for OSX lion

Please help, I can't find the driver for the geforce 9400m for OSX lion on the Nvidia's website. There's only the drivers for OSX leopard and snow leopard.

Try turning off bluetooth. I noticed after doing some research and using xbench to test my system, GUI resources almost tripled after turning off bluetooth. I know thats odd but of all the fixes and ideas I have found online, this seems to be the only one which increased gaming performance. Be nice if we could download updated drivers from nvidia though. It will only be a matter of time before we have the ability to get lion drivers through nvidias site. Snow leopard is already there so im sure lion is to follow soon. If this doesnt help, go get yourself an optimization tool like onyx or CleanMyMac. This helped me out a little bit. Not much but enough to get another few FPS. Hope this helps.

  • Drivers for HP C4280

    Hi
We have a new HP C4280 printer but the CD is for Mac OSX and will not open.
Is there any where we can download the drivers etc.
www.HP.com only lists the drivers for OSX only
    Many thanks
    David

Sorry, but you're out of luck as far as printing to the C4280 in OS 9 is concerned. There's no driver for that OS.
If the files you create in OS 9 applications can be saved in formats that OS X-native applications can open, then you can print them after rebooting into OS X. But if you only have OS 9.x, that printer will be of no use to you.

  • 64 Bit Windows7/8/8.1 USB drivers for Palm Desktop

Thanks to the great folks over at Aceeca.com (makers of NEW PalmOS Garnet devices), USB drivers for 64bit Vista, Windows 7, and Win 8 operating systems are available.  There are many users reporting Palm Desktop 4.x is also working.
I have synced my TX to my Vista64 bit laptop, and Windows 8.1 HP Spectre X2 hybrid successfully via my USB cable.
    The drivers are located here:
    Aceeca Driver Downloads
Installation instructions (from Aceeca) for Windows 7 are included in the download.
    Basic instructions:
    1. Download the drivers and Extract them to the same folder.  Remember the folder you extracted them to.
    2. Try to HotSync your device.  It will fail.
    3. Open the Device Manager, and look for the Yellow Triangle next to either "Acceca" or "Palm Device" under "Other devices".
    4. Right-click on the device, and choose "Update Driver Software".
    5. Choose "Browse My Computer for Software" and direct it to the folder you extracted the Aceeca drivers to.
    6. Choose "Next" at the driver file location window, and then tell it to "Always trust software from Aceeca Ltd." then click the "Install" button.
    7. I received an error message (Vista64) that told me "The drivers were installed but the device couldn't be opened." I saw that my TX had timed out and went to sleep.  I tried a HotSync and it worked!!!
    Good luck!
NOTE:  Palm Desktop 6.22 may only show Media and Install.  Here's how to fix that:
If Palm Desktop 6.2.2 only shows Media and Install, try this:  Right-click on the shortcut for Palm Desktop, then choose "Run as Administrator".  The ther modules should appear.
To make Palm Desktop Run as Administrator every time in Windows 8/8.1:
Close Palm Desktop, if open.  (This is a very important thing to always do when using 6.2.2 - it has been known to lose data when a computer is shut down without closing the program!)
Right Click on the Palm Desktop Icon in the Metro screen, then choose "Open File Location".  You will now see the actual file for the shortcut.
Right-click on the "Palm Desktop" shortcut file, then Properties.  Now pick the Compatibility Tab at the top.
At the bottom of the Compatibility Tab is a checkbox:  "Run this Program as Administrator", Click OK .
Try opening Palm Desktop, all the parts should appear.  You may see a box open when you close the program asking "Did the program run correctly?"   I picked "Yes", and it's been working fine since then!
If you are using a much older PalmOS device and want to try using Palm Desktop 4.x, you will need this additional patch from Pimlico Software:

Forum member bobboffin has added this post:
"After attempting your first HotSync and failing (as expected) you may be unable to find any trace of the device in Device Manager, making the next step quite difficult. This happened to me, and after some investigation I discovered the following tip that allows Device Manager to show hidden and non-present devices.
Open up Notepad and paste the following two lines into it:
    set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1
    start devmgmt.msc
Save it as SetDev.bat into My Documents.
Open My Documents in Windows Explorer and double click on SetDev.bat. Device Manager should open.
In the View menu select Show Hidden Devices.
You may now see under the Other heading the failed device with a yellow triangle against it.
You can now proceed to install the drivers per the instructions.
Note that the driver supports most Palm OS versions. I'm actually using an Aceeca Meazura 1000 ruggedized PDA running OS 4.1  --- bobboffin"
    Hope this helps!

  • I Need USB Controller Drivers For My HP Pavillion g6 2235ca Notebook Running Windows 7 Pro 64bit?

So it has been at least a couple of months that I've been using my laptop with only ONE working USB port.
The other two do NOT work. If I go to Computer on the Start menu, and right-click on Computer, then Manage, then i go to Device Manager, there is a yellow exclamation mark next to Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller.
When I try to update them, Windows 7 tells me that an update could not be found blah blah blah...
This problem happened ever since I installed Windows 7 64bit over Windows 8 64bit.
So, can someone help me find drivers for this USB Controller? Or is this some kind of hardware failure or issue?
    Please help? Anyone...!

  • G62 can't find drivers for USB mouse

For some reason I can't get my wired mouse OP-35D to work with Windows 7. When I plug it in ti the USBslot the PC can identify that its a USB mouse but can't find any drivers. I've downloded drivers from the manufacturers homepage but it's still not working. Tried four different USB mouse both wired and wireless, same result. USB-memorysticks, USB-harddrives are working fine.
    Solution anyone?

Open Device manager and Expand USB Controllers, right click on everything labeled as device or hub and select uninstall, do this one at a time. Once this is done restart the notebook.
Do Not uninstall anything labeled  Controller.

  • T440 - DWM service is crashing in windows 7 64 bit after installing drivers for USB Replicator

    Dear All,
    Good day!,
This will be my first post to the community and looking forward for an expert advise on the issue am facing with Lenovo ThinkPad USB Port Replicator with Digital Video drivers in Enterprise 64bit running on T440, following are the details:
    Environment:
Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit installed on T440 where all drivers are up to date for all devices though (System Update 5) tool.
Requirement: Usage of Lenovo ThinkPad USB Port Replicator with Digital Video (M01060) which will be connected to .
    Steps followed:
Connected to the port replicator before installing the device driver.
Download and installed device driver from the link: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-73088
    3.    Issue: After installing the device driver above, system reboots and after logging back using the local admin account or any other windows account (DWM service) crashes along with any other software installed (Ms. Office, Lync, IE9, ...ext). Tried uninstalling the driver, rebooted and Windows runs smoothly again back with no errors.
    4.    Questions:
T440 hardware compatible with Lenovo ThinkPad USB Port Replicator with Digital Video ?
Which USB version Lenovo ThinkPad USB Port Replicator with Digital Video has ? (2.0 or 3.0) ? did I missed some special drivers for USB ?
Any other links for the above driver can be found for Win 7 Enterprise 64bit ?
For 3 days, am searching the web for a similar issue, found and followed all troubleshooting steps mentioned by others but none of them helped. I will really appreciate your support if any expert can advise. Thanks in advanced

I have the same problem with my T400 updated to Win 7 pro.  Not happy.

  • Enable Bootcamp to install from usb for OSX 10.9**WORKS**

So basically, I have trying to install windows on my mbp using a usb drive. However bootcamp wont allow me to do so since I have a optical drive on the laptop. I have been searching for a long time and eventually came across this solution and I would like to share this so u guys dont have to google all over the place again .
The solutions given before by changing info.plist is correct except that now Bootcamp crashes everytime you change it in OSX 10.9.
    Full solution:
    1. Add your Boot Rom Version(from system info) under DARequiredROMVersions.
    2. Add Model Identifier(from system info) under PreUSBBootSupportedModels
    3. Delete "Pre" from "PreUSBBootSupportedModels", so you have "USBBootSupportedModels"
The first 3 steps are same as before and if its not clear you can easily google solutions with screenshots.
The next step is only for OSX 10.9, as it employs some kind of code signature to prevent you from changing info.plist and cause bootcamp to crash.
    4. Open your terminal, use the following command
    sudo codesign -fs - /Applications/Utilities/Boot\ Camp\ Assistant.app
Sudo means using administrator privilege and u need to enter your mac password. And the command resigns the bootcamp application so that it runs with the new info.plist file and not crash.
    5. Continue on with your installation....
    Cheers.
P.S. back up info.plist before u change anything.

do you have multiple partitions on your USB stick? And what partition table does it use?
I have two windows installers. One is on a 4GB single partition fat32 formatted stick, and one is on a 5GB partitions of a 500GB USB HDD. On the USB HDD I have windows as second partition. First is OSX installer. I noticed that I can boot in BIOS mode with the 4GB USB stick, but not with the 500GB USB HDD.
So try a windows formatted USB stick with a single partition. See if that works.
Be carefull with google.. In the last few days I have been researching some bootcamp related things and there is waaaay more wrong information of people that tell others what they 'heard' than that there is right information of those who know how stuff works.
I am of the 2nd category btw. I only tell you what I know for sure. If an '06 macbook with ODD can boot of of USB into BIOS mode, then so should you.
Edit: The reason the Windows EFI installers says it found an MBR partition only is because by default the disk is in GPT mode with a 'protected' mbr so that non-gpt aware programs wont look and scream "free space! ".
In order for Bootcamp to install in legacy BIOS mode it converts this 'protective' MBR into a "hybrid" MBR. If you download the open source app "Gdisk", install it, and type "sudo gdisk /dev/disk0" in terminal you will see there is either a protective or hybrid MBR on the disk.
Formatting a disk to fat32 with any OSX tool (BC Utility or disk utility) will convert the protective MBR to Hybrid MBR.
Gdisk allows you to reset this to a protective MBR as described here: http://superuser.com/questions/508026/windows-detects-gpt-disk-as-mbr-in-efi-boo t
Hybrid MBR: Full Bootcamp compatibility. OSX knows whats up and decides everything. Windows installs in legacy BIOS mode on an MBR type disk.
Protective MBR: Bootcamp utility and OSX are not used since they would convert the disk to a hybrid MBR. This mode is compatible with booting in EFI mode. EFI compatible Windows versions (7 partially, 8 completely) will live alongside OS X, for the most without problems. And will install on a GPT type disk.
Hope to have helped you with this. Took me three full days of non-stop reading to figure this out.

Edit 2: Make damned sure you have a backup of your system. Messing around with partition types and tables shouldnt hurt when you know what you're doing. But since I know this for three days, and you apparently havent found this yet, I think it's safe to say both of us aren't yet 100% sure of what we're doing .

  • Does latest version of bootcamp installed on late 2013 rMBP put thunderbolt drivers for lacie external thunderbolt/USB 3.0 drive?

does latest version of bootcamp installed on late 2013 rMBP put thunderbolt drivers for lacie external thunderbolt/USB 3.0 drive?
I am wiping my current windows bootcamp partition and reinstalling windows using disk utility /bootcamp wizard to clean up and reinstall.
just curious if the Thunderbolt drivers get installed from bootcamp/windows sofytware update as I can't remember iif i had to do it manually before. I do see it shows up on windows side in device manager and if it is pluggged in during boot screen (to windows 7 pro 64 bit) shows ASMedia drivers being loaded for it.
    Thanks

thank you so much I was pretty sure it did but wanted to be 100% sure as purpose of clean install was to clean up some mishaps I did with office 2007 (custom install), etc.
    Many Thanks

  • New ipad USB drivers for pc running on win7

Error message when downloading USB drivers for new iPad for win 7 (64 bits)

My husband's laptop which is at least 3 years older than mine has not problem with charging or recognizing my IPAD.  So I don't think the USB ports have anything to do with this problem.  What I see is that the PC wants to load MTP USB driver which fails.  I have the Apple Mobile Device driver installed and activated.  My computer does not see the IPAD but Itunes does.  How do get the PC to recognize the apple mobile device driver before it tries to download the MTP USB driver?  I am going to try the last suggestion from Diavonex to see if it will work.  This is sounding more and more like a Windows problem.  BTW both my and my husband's laptops are Dell so I might try looking there also.  Wish I had an answer.
