USB transfer very low - i have a Pavilion DV7-3130ED

I just bought a new HP Pavilion.
After installing everything, i wanted to transfer a movie from the laptop to a Kingston DataTraveler 64GB. Which was about 1gb. It will take up to 3 hours to transfer.
So i went to the HP site and updated the drivers but still nothing.

Hi,
1. You may need someting like this:
     http://www.latestbuy.com.au/usb-vinyl-and-cassette-converter.html
2. Yes, Ndivia does have sound controller because it uses HDMI. Does your machine have HDMI output ? I believe due to some sorts of copy protection we can NOT use HDMI input only for output.

BH

I have re-installing the driver by un-installing and also using the recovery manager but still it didn't help, can someone be of some help in here, thanks in advace

    Praveen,
If the Troubleshooting tips Danjen provided do not do the trick,
you might try this as a stop-gap / workaround to regain some control over the volume.  It may work.
Right-Click on the Sound icon in the Task Bar (or open with Control Panel > icon view > Sound)
    Open Playback Devices
Click on Speakers and Headphones (to highlight)
    Click on Properties
    Click on Enhancements >
    Select "Loudness Equalization"
    Click OK
    Next,
Still in Sound > Playback Devices
    Click on Communications tab
Under "When Windows detects communications activity:"
    Select "Do Nothing"
    Click OK
You may have to Restart / Reboot the machine for the changes to take effect.
    Kind Regards,

Make sure you've installed other MediaSmart software first and then install HP MediaSmart SmartMenu last of all.  You can find all the MediaSmart software available for your machine under the sub-heading 'Software - Multimedia' on the following link.

  • Pavilion Dv7 4165dx Hard drive failure and performance issues?

I have a pavilion dv7 4165dx notebook that was working great until a couple of months  when the performance of my machine started to decrease rapidly. I have performance issues with the machine because it takes 1 to 2 minutes to get from the welcome screen to the actual desktop and another 3 to 4 minutes for it to be ready to use. I already upgrade the memory from 4gb to 8gb but instead of going faster it goes slower and i also did a clean install of windows but it didn't help. Before i have problems it took maybe 30 to 50 seconds to go from the welcome screen to the actual desktop and 1 minute and 30 seconds to be ready to use and by the way i use soluto to tell me when the machine is ready for use. Then last week i notice that the headphone jack wasn't working properly so i contact hp and they told me to send them the laptop so i did, they replace the motherboard and they  send it back to me and i just got it today it got a little better but it still lags on the welcome screen and to open programs. I check the memory using memtest 86 and the memory it's fine, but i check the hard drive with HDD Regenerator 2011 and it show i have one delayed sector. Then i check on hd tune pro and it show me some WARNING on section Calibration retry count( as you can see on the picture below)  so my question is should i be worry and send it back to hp or what can i do to fix the problem i am having with this notebook?

I have the same laptop and have had issues with it since the day i brought it home. I have had it for a year now and am now replacing the hard drive for the 3rd time. My guess would be its your hard drive because most of the issues you seem to be having ar the same ones ive been dealing with for a while. I can say I'm very mad about the quality of this laptop and am in the process of  battling with HP over this issue. If you have a chance go online and look at all the hard drive issues that this laptop has had and even look at the HP forums for this issue it will irritate you and make you wonder why this hasn't been fixed yet!

  • There is no 5.1 OVER HDMI on the HP PAVILION DV7 only two channel stereo!!!

    Dear HP
    I have a Pavilion dv7 laptop.
I am able to connect my laptop via HDMI to my Samsung 55 LED. Video transfer is in HD. Sound is also transmitted but only in 2 channel format rather than 5.1 channel format. In the sound settings via control panel I have tried to reconfigure but there is only a 2ch and no 5.1ch setting. The same is the case in the 'Speakers and Headphones' (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC) setting
The 5.1ch output setting should be present as Windows 7 professional is compatible with this as should be my laptop, and my TV has an inbuilt Dolby Digital processor which conveys 5.1Ch sound to my home cinema unit.
My home cinema system DOES support and decode Dolby & DTS 5.1. This is connected to my TV via optical cable.
TV transmissions from Freesat that are in Dolby Digital 5.1 do output correctly in 5.1 via my home cinema system, this is why I know for a fact that my TV DOES output in Dolby Digital 5.1. There is a light on my Home cinema system which confirm the inputted sound is 2ch or 5.1ch.
There is no error with my TV or Home cinema System - there is a problem with my Pavilion laptop failing to output 5.1.
    Please help!
    Many thanks

    Hi,
DV7 is a series of dozens if not hundreds of models, what is yours ? Please bear in mind normally HDMI sound on computers go from video cards, not "sound" cards.

  • Pavilion dv7-1285dx Docking Station

I'm very new to forums. . . and a mature computer user - so be nice, I might be your grandmother!!  I have the Pavilion dv7-1285dx  and I would very much like to purchase a docking station.  I can't find anything that confirms there is a docking station for this laptop.  If you know - could you please tell specifically the name of what I'm looking for?   Can anyone help?

    According to the Service manual:
    link to Manual
"Expansion port 3 supports the HP
    xb3000 Notebook Expansion Base and
    HP Notebook QuickDock"
    xb3000 on ebay
    QuickDock on ebay
I always buy docking stations on ebay since they go for a fraction of HP list price, but you may still be able to order these direct from HP if you prefer that. There are dozens available of each type on ebay so do your homework on the seller and look for the best deal. I just chose these links so you would have a picture to look at.

  • Replace touchpad on Pavilion dv7

I have a Pavilion dv7 4150ea, which has one of those completely unusable (by design) touchpads - very difficult to click, curser jumping around the screen etc.
I see that the new dv7's have a revised touchpad, with proper seperate buttons which is said to be much better.
Is it possible to to get hold of one of the new touchpads and put it into my laptop? Wil it fit and will the driver work etc? Does anyone know the part number of the revised trackpad?
    Thanks

  • My Pavilion dv7-6175 only has 1.5GB free in my Recovery (D) drive. How can I get it clear and freed?

After Microsoft connected me with their tech assistant who did a remote assisted check on something, he told me I had corrupted files and that for $299 he could fix it. I don't know what he did, but I didn't go along with that and did a recovery to put my laptop where it was before the call. My laptop was 3 days old and I doubt it came "corrupted" from Office Max or HP. Consequently, I only have 1.5 GB free of 14.3. How can I get back the GB lost in case I ever need it again? If I click on it, a HP icon comes up and it says "do not delete or alter any of these files." I have the Pavilion dv7 6175, Windows 7 64 bit,

You won't need the 1.5GB space on the resovery partition. Almost full is a norm with the recover partition. It is a partition that you must not save anything to as it serves only one purpose. Save to the Data or C: drive or an external disk.If you save to the partition then you will lose the F11 keystoke allowing you to access the Recovery Manager on powerup in case of an emergency.
My loaner HP dv7-4180ea has a recovery partition of 21.5GB and has 3.15 GB free.
The one thing you do need to make sure of is that backups are not saved to that partition.
Have you created Recovery media? It is wise to do that.
    regards,
    erico
