USB webcam compatibility?

so I have a Logitech Ultra Vision and I was wondering if I could use it in Quicktime or Quicktime Pro. There is no software or drivers available for it because Logitech utilizes the internal drivers that come on Macs. It works fine with chatting software, but I was just wondering if there was more I could do with it.

Why not contact Logitech's customer service/tech support to confirm? If they say yes, then have them provide you w/detailed instructions.
Or try the webcam w/QuickTime or PRO (whichever one you have) & see if it works yourself.

  • Mini not reading usb webcam

I have attached a Logitech USB Webcam (Pro 9000) to my mini via a Belkin 5 port USB hub, but the mini does not see it. I have tried attaching direct to a USB port on the mini itself, but to no avail. ????

I notice they don't advertise Mac compatibility. It may use a proprietary driver only for Windows. I would check around elsewhere on the web to see if anyone has it working with a Mac.

  • Using usb webcam with facetime

I have a generic USB Webcam 720p connected to a USB port on my Mac Mini (2012 version) running 10.8.2. Tried using webcam on facetime, my HD monitor doesn't have webcam, for the first time. When opening FT the image from webcam displayed in the window, but when FT started connecting window went brown and hung up after a minute or 2. There were no drivers for Mac OS, but listed Mac OS X 10.5 or higher, with plug & play.
Any suggestions I would appreciate it.

I don't have the same Mac and camera as you, so I cannot test this, but it may be worth a try:
Use technique from ¶ 4 of http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302781 about letting Photo Booth use a Firewire external  iSight:
    • Connect your Logitech Vision Pro USB webcam and turn it on.
    • Quit Safari if it is running.
    • Launch iChat.
    • Open iChat's Video "Preferences..." and set the camera "Preference" to use your built-in iSight. You need not log in for video chat, but be sure your iSight video preview shows in the video Preferences pane.
    • Now, with your built-in camera in use by iSight, launch Safari and test whether your Logitech Vision Pro USB webcam shows in the settings dialog box.
If you still have trouble and have not already tried restarting your Mac, modem, and (if you have one) router, see if that helps.

What Superdrive (external USB) is compatable with Mountain Lion 10.8.3?
My New install of 10.8.3, will now.... not reconize anything I put in my drive... it spits it back out!
Superdrive does NOT reconize any activity.
It will show my information on/of my drive...but, that is about it...
Is there a patch/fix for this issue with 10.8.3?
If not...why is Apple (seemingly) ignoring this issue? There are so many with the same complaint.
They want $19 to answer this question...why? I just bought the upgrade to 10.8.3 a couple of days ago.
Anyone have any suggestion, beside switching BACK to Microsoft...?

Sorry about the serial number...wasn't thinking.  Mentally noted.
I would think it to not be too much, to ask for it to be able to read/write to the listed capablities list with the product (superdrive). The different media type...
I insert blank -R DVD, -R CD, ...anything I put in,it spits it out.  NOTE:  The ONLY thing I've been able to get it to read, is some old CD's that I had some mp3 files on...it would read that OK... but if I try a DVD read or write and write a CD...NOTHING!
This worked fine before upgrading to 10.8.3   was at 10.7.5....

  • Capturing data from usb webcam

I'm interested in the acquisition of footage from a usb webcam into labVIEW. I have the professional development system and downloaded NI-IMAQ which I believe i'll need from reading online material.
I don't really know where to start to link the camera with labview so any material would be a great help...
Final question, is it a big undertaking acquiring data from a video camera in labVIEW? it's just i've limited time to work on a project and want to know if it's worthwhile undertaking or if it will be very time heavy. I've a few months labVIEW development experience if that would give an indication to anyone...
    Strokes

    Hi,
First your USB Cam needs to be DirectShow Compliant.
Then you will need NI-IMAQdx from the Vision Acquisition Software 2009 (supports LV 8.2 and higher) or higher to acquire images from USB cameras. The NI IMAQ driver is to capture images from framegrabbers, and the NI SmartCamera, not for USB. There is also a own IMAQ USB Library for the Vision Acquisition 8.6 but since you need to buy the Acquisition Software I would recommend to use 2009 or higher where we added the DirectShow Support to IMAQdx.
The Vision Acquisition Software is just for image acquisition and processing. If you want to do image processing you will need the Vision Development Module.
And when doing a search at ni.com you should find some articles, examples and tutorials too.
I can't estimate how much time you will need get that running, but you could just try to run one of the examples for IMAQdx in LabVIEW and then see how it works.

  • Is it possible to use USB webcam + USB mic simultaneously?

  • Can you record video usb webcam

Can you record video using final cut pro from a usb webcam? you can do that with quicktime. Can you do that with final cut pro? i tried import video from camera but it only shows isight camera that is built in the macbook.

You can record live video from the built-in iSight camera that is standard in most macs (in fact, all but the Mac Pro and Mini). From other cameras, I doubt it. Of course, you can record with Quicktime Player and use the recorded video inside FCP X. But beware, many webcams have very low quality, low frame rate and size, so don't expect to get great video.

  • Acquire image from USB webcam

Hey everyone.  I have a Logitech USB webcam that I would like to use to acquire still images.  I am using LV 8.2.  All the posts I have read suggest using NI-IMAQ for USB Cameras.  I have tried to install it, but it says "You must have Vision 7.1 or higher with LabVIEW 7.0 or higher, or you must have Vision Assistant 7.1 or higher installed to use this add-on."  I don't have Vision or Vision Assistant.  Am I doing something wrong?  None of the other posts seemed to mention that you needed Vision in order to use the add-on.  Does anyone know how I can acquire images from my USB webcam through LV 8.2 without having to buy additional software?  Thanks!

This question comes up often. That driver is something that NI provides as a convenience, and yes it requires additional software, as stated on the description for it. As for alternatives, did you get any software with the camera that looks like it could be used with LabVIEW, like an ActiveX library? That can certainly be used. As mentioned in this thread, supposedly RoboLab for LabVIEW has some tools, but I've never used it myself. You can also try the LabVIEW Webcam Library. Kind of old, though.

  • Can I use FaceTime with an aftermarket USB webcam?

I'm currently looking at getting a Mac mini and using an aftermarket DVI monitor that doesn't have a webcam. I'd still like to be able to use FaceTime with my Mac so I'm looking at an external USB webcam. I'm just wondering if this will work or if I must have an Apple iSight camera to make FaceTime work? I really don't know much about it as all my other FaceTime devices have built in webcams. If anyone has tried it with success please let me know.

    Hello andywl2000
As long as you have a web cam internal or external, you will be fine.
OS X Mountain Lion - Technical Specifications
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP654
Photo Booth Requires a FaceTime or iSight camera (built in or external), USB video class (UVC) camera, or FireWire DV camcorder. Backdrop effects when using a DV camcorder require fixed focus, exposure, and white balance.
FaceTime Video calls require a built-in FaceTime camera, an iSight camera (built in or external), a USB video class (UVC) camera, or a FireWire DV camcorder, and a 128-Kbps upstream and downstream Internet connection. Making HD video calls requires a built-in FaceTime HD camera and a 1-Mbps upstream and downstream Internet connection. Receiving HD video calls requires a supported Intel-based Mac.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

This seems a very popular question coming up about once every week at
least. And there are many good answers in the developer Zone on www.ni.com
    Check out:
    Irene He's IVision Toolkit:
    http://www.hytekautomation.com/Products/IVision.html
    or
    Pete Parentes WebCam library:

The first is a rather impressive Video Manipulation library with a
nice video capture interface to VfW too, and the second is a simple
video capture library to access any VfW compliant device.

  • To detect USB webcam

Hi, I am trying to detect USB webcam using NI Vision Assistant but its not works ! I already installed requisite drivers for it though its not possible to acquire images using webcam.

f your goal is to work with you ltener vision first note that the programs have a cost, in any case you can use them in mode of assessment and expire over a period of time. You can perform image acquisition only drivers from VAS , but for any treatment or handling or VDM VBAI you need , plus VAS . You can download the evaluation software from the following links :
    Módulo NI Vision Development https://lumen.ni.com/nicif/us/evalvisiondevmodule/content.xhtml
NI Vision Builder para Inspección Automatizada (AI) https://lumen.ni.com/nicif/us/machinevisionbrochure/content.xhtml
    NI Vision Acquisition Software http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/3818/lang/en
In this example, we will create a program in Labview to capture images from a USB camera to your application for further processing using the NI Vision module.
