USB Wifi Zyxel NWD-210N cannot detect wifi 2 router connection on Windows 8.1 Pro

Hi,
I am currently running a Windows 8.1 Pro with current up-to-date patches.
I am having issues connecting to the wifi router with my USB Zyxel NWD-210N wifi adapter.
I turned off the built-in wifi card in the laptop.
And turned on the second USB Zyxel NWD-210N wifi adapter.
Windows 8.1 detects it as Wifi 2.
Even though I was sitting right in front the router, Windows 8.1 cannot seems to find the router.

MrDB
Again, it is up to zyxel to update the driver not Microsoft.  Microsoft doesn't make the OS compatible with every device, every device needs to make their hardware work with the OS.  IMHO if there isnt a current Microsoft driver there is not likely
to be one.  Contact Zyxel
You might want to try installing the driver in compatibility mode (try win 7)
To install in compatibility mode do the following:
Right click the installer>properties>compatibility>choose OS

  • WRT54GS cannot detect an active internet connection. HELP!

    Ok well just recently, I don't know why though but my router won't detect an active internet connection from my Cable Modem. I have my Router and Modem connected so I can play Xbox in my room. Well since my router can't detect an active internet connection now since the new Xbox update doesn't allow you to enter the encryption key anymore, I can't go on Xbox live because of it. I've tried changing the ethernet cable in different ports and it still doesn't work. If someone can please help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Now to the strange thing.
    On the MBP 13" I CAN change settings for my mobile account but on the MBP 15" it is not poosible? How can it be different?
    Please see attached picture. Swedish "Flyttbart konto" = Mobile Account. Swedish "Inställningar" = Settings. As you can see it is not possible to edit/change settings........
    How do I make it possible to make changes in my mobile account? I want to sync other folders and so on......

    Hello bh8er,
    I'm sorry to hear you are having mail issues with your Mac. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on exactly what you are seeing/describing. What are you seeing when you go to Mail > Preferences and select the Accounts tab? Does it show more than one account in the left hand column, and does it allow you to select your account? What does it say for Account Type? You may also find the additional troubleshooting steps in the following article helpful, in particular the portion about using the Mail Connection Doctor:

  • Systemd-networkd, wpa_supplicant and multiple USB Wifi adapters

    TL;DR:
    Is there a way to run a single wpa_supplicant process that handles any kind of USB WiFi adapter in connection with systemd-networkd?
    Long version:
    I'm running systemd-networkd, which has made networking setup a lot easier for wired interfaces. I'd like to make it just as easy for WiFi interfaces, but it seems there's some kind of wildcard support missing for wpa_supplicant. My question is whether I got this right, or there is some trick somewhere I didn't think of.
    Here's my /etc/systemd/network/wifi.network:
    [Match]
    Name=wlp*
    [Network]
    DHCP=v4
    In addition, I'm running:
    systemctl start wpa_supplicant@wlp0s2f1u10
    because that's the interface that my current WiFi USB adapter comes up on. This goes with /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant-wlp0s2f1u10.conf:
    ctrl_interface=/run/wpa_supplicant
    eapol_version=1
    ap_scan=1
    fast_reauth=1
    network={
    ssid="something"
    psk="else"
    This all works fine, except that:
    I have to plug my USB Wifi adapter into this exact USB port, otherwise the interface name changes and wpa_supplicant isn't running there
    if I plug in a different USB WiFi adapter (I have a zoo; nothing exceptional I guess, but it's a pain to keep track of which goes with which computer), the interface name may be different and wpa_supplicant isn't running there
    systemd-networkd solved that problem nicely with the wildcard in the interface name above (Name=wlp*). (Also, dhcpcd -- which I'm not using in this setup -- can be told to listen to "all interface" which is sort of similar)
    My question: can I do something similar with wpa_supplicant, so I don't have to run a separate wpa_supplicant daemon on all possible interface names?
    I'm guessing the answer is No (and I'd like confirmation on that).
    Secondly, perhaps I can write one or more udev rules that will present all of those possible interfaces as wlan0, wlan1 or such. In which case I could presumably run wpa_supplicant@wlan0 only and be happy (assuming that wpa_supplicant is happy to run even as long as the interface does not exist. Does it?) Anybody have any hints how to go about this, I haven't done that.
    Thirdly, if neither of those are viable, is this a reasonable-enough set of requirements so it would  make sense to run this by the wpa_supplicant developers as a possible future feature?

    networkd "solved" nothing here. This is a mere coincidence that the wlp* wildcard works. For instance, you might have an interface called "wls1". Also, wpa_supplicant doesn't "listen" because "listen" applies to the TCP/IP layer. wpa_supplicant works at the frame level, so I'm not sure what you mean. If you want software that _manages_ multiple wifi interfaces, use netctl.

    Correct.

    For the udev part, do something like
    : cat /etc/udev/rules.d/10-network.rules
    SUBSYSTEM=="net", ATTR{address}=="a1:b1:c1:d1:e1:f1", NAME="wl0"
    SUBSYSTEM=="net", ATTR{address}=="a2:b2:c2:d2:e2:f2", NAME="wl1"
    Then, modify [email protected] as
    : diff usr/lib/systemd/system/[email protected]{,.new}

    so that the unit doesn't fail if the adapter is not plugged. However, this solution is suboptimal (Think what happens if you suddenly remove the adapter)... You can try to use "BindsTo=" instead of "Requires=" but I wonder if you get errors on startup if the adapter is absent...

    No. wpa_supplicant is only supposed to to what it's told. It is not a canned network management solution.

    right now i am using windows 8.1 pro 32 bit ,, want to change to 64 bit   , my CPU is 64 bit  and i have 4 GB ram (i know i should have more ram ,, but i dont do this upgrade for the ram  , but because some emulators , and some application
    ask 64 bit) so i used every possible way on my computer , using windows 7 download tool , rufus , etc programs to make the usb  , imgburn for dvd , i did from a friends computer that is windows 8.1 pro 64 bit ,, but nothing everything DOESN'T work  ,
    all  32 bit editions boot and install just perfect (created by my computer ) so its not a computer problem  ,, when i put the media on my computer (dvd/usb) and restart and boot on it ,, its shows me the windows logo ,, after 20 seconds (too much)
    it shows the ring , and then it reboots the computer (2/10 tries it manages to go in the language selection screen ,, but when i click next  ,, and then i click install now button ,, it reboots again) what is going wrong , and how can i fix it (where
    should i make that bootable media ?) i have bought the windows from dreamspark ,, so i use a official iso and serial key

    Hi,
    This is not license problem, in my opinion, it's more relate with hardware and their driver problem.
    Firstly, it would be better to contact the manufacture to identify if your computer support Windows 8.1 X64 edition.
    Secondly, if your former system was not removed, try to access into the system and upgrade BIOS editon, after that, try to reinstall the system again for test.

  • Cannot Mount Any ISO in Windows 8.1 Pro

    I cannot mount any ISO images on my Windows 8.1 Pro machine.  I have tried the "Mount" under right-click as well as Powershell with the same results. From the UI, I get a simple message "Sorry there was a problem mounting the file."
    while from Powershell I get an HResult that from searching seems to be rather generic.
    I have followed the idea about upper filter and lower filter.  I have made sure that the ISO is not "sparse".  I made sure that ISO's are associated with Windows Explorer. I have tried a number of ISO's all from either TechNet or MSDN
    with the same results.  ProcMon doesn't really offer anything useful as the number of entries is overwhelming to try to limit to just mounting an image.
    I read several posts where drive letters were an issue, but no guidance was given regarding what drive letter the virtual drive preferred.
    I can mount the same ISO files on another Windows 8.1 Pro machine, so it isn't the ISO itself.
    Any ideas? I have spent the entire day working on this problem and I really need some help.
    Thanks,
    Glen

    I was struggling with this too. I found that the problem is a 'sparse' attribute that gets added by the Akamai downloader (known bug).  To fix just copy the ISO (and the VHD) files to another folder this removes the (P).  I found the answer at:

    Rusty Brown
    I have used mounting ISO images, sparce files and so on. No issues.
    this suggests its time for a fresh install of windows, backup twice in case of the unthinkable

    Hi samer almasri,
    If you are having issues with enabling Wifi on your iPhone you may want to try a couple of things to troubleshoot. First of all I would quit all open applications on the phone and try again. See this previous thread for how -
    How do I close apps on my iPhone with iOS 7?

    Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -

  • Cannot detect wifi networks

    My iPhone4 suddenly stopped identifying wifi networks to connect to. I know they are available because I can connect with my iPad. Support have been most helpful telling me I have to pay $250 to fix it. Can anyone tell me why this has happened and how it can be fixed without so much expense? Or do I just buy a Samsung Galaxy?????

    I got my iPad 2 only just over a week ago, and it was working perfectly to my knowledge, and I was quite happy with it.
    However, all of a sudden it stopped recognising my home's wifi router on Saturday evening, and this morning it stopped using my phone's (Nokia N8, EZ Spot app) wifi hotspot. So it's not a problem with my router.
    By this I mean it can connect fine (according to settings) and even have notifications from apps pop up. (So-and-so commented on, from Facebook, update available on appstore for whatever app, etc.)
    But… when I try to use the internet connection (at full bars) to access the app, like Safari, AppStore, or anything, nothing happens.
    Interestingly, when I looked at my phone's app, it told me it had a couple of kb data under uploaded, but no wifi data had been downloaded by the iPad.
    I've followed all the steps on the support website, but to no avail.
    What can I do to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
