  • IPhone 5 won't connect to MacBook Pro

Not sure if this is the right place for this but I tried Apple's support forums and couldn't get anything useful
When I try to connect my iPhone 5 (iOS 8.1) to my MacBook Pro (mid-2012, OS X Yosemite 10.10) it will flash as connected and then disconnect immediately, and I am unable to establish a connection again.
I've tried rebooting and updating all software. The same cord connects my iPhone to my work MacBook Air with no problem, and the USB ports on my Pro work fine for other things.
Does anyone have any ideas or know how I can fix this? All my music is on my Pro and I can't get it onto my phone.

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse won't connect with MacBook Pro in Bootcamp

I recently swapped my Bootcamp-partitioned hard drive from an older Core Duo MacBook to a late-2007 Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro.  I had no problem using the wireless mouse with the MacBook.  I'd click on the Windows desktop once it booted up and it worked flawlessly.
But on the newer MacBook Pro it won't stay connected.  I have to pair it with the Windows Bluetooth control panel each time I log in.
I'm not sure if this is connected to the issue or not, but I'm not able to use the trackpad and buttons on the MacBook Pro keyboard either.
I've seached the discussions without any success.  Advice anyone?
    Thanks in advance.
    Patrick

Well, by some stroke of dumb luck it finally connected. I slid the on/off switch open until the green light started to blink, when the mouse connected I opened it all the way and decided to work.

  • My external monitor flickers intermittently and wont function when connected to macbook pro

    Hello everyone,
I recently purchased a cable to convert the thunderbolt/miniport to the VGA input on an external monitor I have had laying around for a few years. I am currently running osx 10.7.5 on a macbook pro.
When I plugged the cable to connect my macbook to the monitor, the monitor certainly recognized the cable, but the display would not do more than flicker in and out intermittently when connected to my macbook.
I have searched the forums for a solution to this, but haven't been able to find one that works. I tried resetting the SMC and restarting while holding cmd+P+R but none of these "fixes" seemed to help.

Simplest thing to try is a PRAM reset.
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • B110a won't connect to Macbook pro or IPAD

    I've got a B110a serial number CN0CN3V63605J8, running firmware CHL1FN1113AR FW patch 0.
It's sat on a home wireless network with a DLINK router DSL-270R.
I can print to it with all my 3 PCs using drivers dowloaded from the HP website. All 3 PCs are different makes.
I am unable to print to it using either a MacBook Pro or IPAD1.  I've read the support forums and tried some of the fixes but to no avail.
My Macbook is running LION, I downloaded the latest drivers on the 13th August from Apple.  My IPAD is running OS4.3.3.
Neither Macbook nor IPAD "see' the printer.
I read on the HP website that the b110a is capable of printing with Macs, but with a firmware update.  I can't do this from the b110a.  When I go to Set up>Preferences>Product Updates, I get the following error message "There was a problem connecting to the server, press retry to connect again of OK to exit"
Any ideas.  I'm thinking it's either the need for a firmware update, or that the router is masking MAC, but I don't really understand this.
    Thanks

    Great work, thanks!
Yes, I mean upgrade the firmware on the router.  This could be the source of all of your troubles.  You could even try to cycle power on your router to reboot it, then try again.  But, I would really try to check its firmware.
To get into your router settings type 192.168.0.1 into a browser address window.  The login is 'admin' and there is no password.  See if you can find a way to update firmware from there.  If it is not obvious, go to the D-link support website and hunt around.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Macbook Pro Airport Won't Connect When Macbook Pro Bootcamp Will

I have a Macbook Pro 2.16GHz Core Duo that has had problems with Airport connectivity since I got it. I can never get anyone to help me with it because it will never show the problem at the Apple Store.
One place that I have to work at has been very, very frustrating.
They have a number of access points called Wireless #1, Wireless #2, and so on. Every access point is a Linksys-Cisco WAP54GP. All of them are on channel 6. They are using a WEP 40-bit hex key with the same key on every AP. They don't understand the obvious flaws in their system, they will not change it nor help me...at all, so there's no point in suggesting things along that route.
I know that their network and their key works, though, because if I reboot into Windows on the SAME machine it works fine and the connection is great. Mac OS, however, will not connect and will not tell me why. All it will say is "There was an error joining the network." I have read suggestions saying that you have to put a $ or "0x" in front of the key to signify that it is a hex key (which I don't have to use on other WEP hex key networks), but when I try to type that in, the password dialog will not allow the characters $ or "x" and it beeps at me.
Does anyone have any help for me?

It will connect to other networks with and without
WEP. It will connect to other networks that use
    WPA.
There are many networks, though, that give me the
"There was an error joining the network.", and I
    don't know why.
I cannot enter a $. As I stated previously, the Join
Network dialog will not allow me to enter that
character when it is set to WEP 40/128 bit hex.
Also, as I have already said, I cannot change the
network to WPA. I understand the benefits of WPA
over WEP, but I am not the network administrator.
They will NOT change their settings. I know the
network works with Windows on my computer. What is
it about Mac OS that is preventing this?
Prior to the last Security Update, I believe 2007-02, broke access to 2wire Routers. It was very frustrating to me as well. The fault or problem, I believe, may lie in a firmware update to these routers. I performed one for my 2wire router and I am now able to connect.
    My theory...

  • Internet is either very slow or won't connect to MacBook Pro.

There's no problem with the desktop Windows PC we have, though its connected directly to the router via cable. I've tried clearing the cache and cookies and etc. from Safari. I can get the wifi to connect if I go through the Network diagnostic, though it doesn't work. Help?

    Try:
1: Create a new network location in System Preferences > Network  (edit locations > new)
2: Make sure your time and date are current and correctly being updated. (match the PC's)
3: Run through this list of fixes to make sure your Mac is working correctly.

Sorry genius.....but if the Recovery disk shows up that means the disk cable isn't bad.  Could be he did have a screwed up HDD and when he put the NEW HDD in (after putting the OS on it via USB) the computer didn't reconize it and therefore didn't boot the OS.  Just maybe right genius?  Don't rush to criticize someone's recommendations until you realize other possibilities.  (I did say "if it does")

To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
and select the Library that you moved.  That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
Your first option didn't work because you imported one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
Your second option didn't work because you simply referenced her library on the old machine.

I get the following error message when I connect a usb ethernet adapter to my new MacBook Pro: Unsupported - You cannot use an Apple USB Modem with this computer. I live where we only have dial-up and the Apple Store said this is what I need. In addition, when I connect the phone to the connecter it falls out, it will not click in.

Why are you using a usb ethernet adaptor? Just plug the modem into the usb port.

    Thanks!

What Carolyn says is correct. You can, however, share an Internet connection with your iPhone wirelessly by turning in Internet sharing (found in System Preferences > Sharing.) If your MacBook Pro is already using a wireless connection, you can just connect to the same wireless network it is using.
    Best of luck.

What's the solution? Is this a bug in Mac OS X 10.6.8 ? Any ideas what I can do to make things work with the HDMI to DVI cable. (N.B.: I have separate audio cable running from the MBP to amplified speakers for the sound side of things. It’s the video that’s the problem!)
