Use 2 page layouts in the same document?

I would like to have one page of my current document in portrait layout, while the rest is in Landscape. I've added a page break, but can't get the single page I want, to turn vertical, without turning all the others. Is there a way to do this?

PeterBreis is right. Do like this (tested several times when need was):
1. Create the whole document, and let that special page blank
2. Based on the same template, create that unique page according to your wish
Now, if you need a printed stuff, insert the specific page when need be. If you need a PDF, export the PDFs (there are 2), import the large file into a good, realiable and free app like Combine PDFs or iCombiner (do not know which one is best, both seem to work fine), delete the blank page in the big file, insert the isolated page in the same place, re-save with a new name, and you are done.
It is not, I admit, very smooth and clean, but it works fine. Named apps may be beautifully used to cut, merge, combine any PDFs, including by combining various sizes and orientations. As long as Pages (and other similar apps) does/do not have this feature, use the additional 3rd party apps, they work fine.

  • How can I use two different page orientations in the same document?

I am trying to have both portrait and landscape page orientations in the same document.  Pages doesn't seem to like this.  Is there a way?

I tried to comment on another thread about this same issue, but the thread was closed.
In the other thread; however, some asked why rotating one pages was necessary, and if they knew then maybe there would be reason to create the function.
Well, I don't know about why anyone else needs it, but for me it's for the papers I have to write for my masters program. The professors like to have the rubric attached to the bottome of the document so they easily grade and keep things organized. They of course give directions on how to easily change the orientation of the last page in Word, but not all of use Word, or even want to use Word. Maybe I need to ditch Pages and go to Word? I'd really hate to do that!
So, come on Apple, let's get this feature added, stat!

  • How do you apply 2 different types of page numbers in the same document?

How do one apply 2 different types of page numbers in the same document??? I do not want a number on the first page!

Click in the second section text:
Inspector > Layout > Section > Configuration > uncheck Use previous headers and footers
Then go back and simply delete what's in the header/footer of the first section.

  • How to convert a word doc to PDF while retaining original page layout of the word document

I am trying to convert a Word document to a PDF.  When I do so, the page layout is changed, with the result that document headings that are on one page in the Word document are on other pages in the PDF.  What settings do I need to adjust to retain the original page layout after the conversion--ie. sentences/words on one page in the Word document stay on that page in the PDF.  I'm using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and Word 2013 in Windows 8.  Thanks.

Start with having the Adobe PDF printer set as your Default printer.
(You do not want Word changing to match printer metric as this can goober output.)
Open Word. Review all Options of configuration to assure there are no surprises.
Prior to printing always perform updates of any fields (styles for auto-numbering and other such use field codes -- update all field codes before a print job).
When Word is properly configured and the content appropriately mastered then the output PDF will be spot on.
    (Input dictates output)
Ensure the installed Acrobat version and Office application versions are compatible.
Ensure the installed Acrobat is compatible with the OS in use.
Check that PDFMaker is configured as desired.
Check that the Distiller job option used is configured as desired.
(PDFMaker and Distiller are installed when Acrobat is installed.)

  • Different Page Sizes within the same document - Printing

I am having trouble printing a document which contains pages of different sizes (using Adobe Professional 7.0):
    i.e. The first 10 pages are 8.5" x 11", the next few pages are 11" x 17" and the last few pages are 8.5" x 11"
The printer only spits everything out as 8.5" x 11" and the larger sheets are just cut off.
In the "Print" menu that comes up when you hit FILE->PRINT it suggests that everything is alright... I can scroll through the small "page preview" and it shows some pages 8.5x11 and some pages 11x17... but when it actually prints, it doesn't do that. Is it the printer that is the problem perhaps?
(The printer is a Lexmark x945e)
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

If the goal is to make a flap, then you can do this in InDesign. A spread can be any contiguous number of pages, so if your document is generally speaking double-page spreads, you can have a single spread that is composed of three contiguous pages.
To do this, in the Pages palette, select a double-page spread you want to expand. Go to the flyout menu and deselect "Allow selected spread to shuffle." Then drag new page to the left of the left page or to the right of the right page (depending on where your flap is).
    Then you're all set.
Here's a screenshot of the Pages panel:
In this case, I've created a flap to the right of page 3 (numbered page a) and its reverse to the left of page 4 (numbered page b).

  • Different style of page numbering in the same document

I've searched but can't find a mention of this problem.
My document has three introductory pages which I want to number as i, ii, iii, and then start the actual story as 1, 2, 3 but every time I try to do this it changes it for the whole document even though it's set up with different sections.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Pages 09 - Portrait and Lanscape view in the same document?

Is it possible to have landscape and portrait layout in the same document?

    Tim,
You're welcome. I don't concern myself much with what Word can or can't do. The issue here is just how to get the job done in Pages with its supporting cast. You may Provide Pages Feedback and if enough voices are heard, you might get your wish. http://www.apple.com/feedback/pages.html
By the way, Preview is a wonderful program, in my mind. The more you use it, the more you will depend on it.

  • Greek and latin fonts in the same document?

    Hello
May be this is not the right forum for such question, however.
For the moment I'm a student of Greek,( the language), and I just  would love to put down words  using different alphabets in the same document.
Using the  Character Map could be one tedious  option.
Two keyboards  used intermittently may be one.
The ideal solution would be a keyboard where the individual keys could change function.
I wonder what people in countries having such alphabets (Greek, Kyrrilic etc.) do when they do business with the English-speaking.
    Any ideas would be welcome.
    T.

In the Windows Control Panel, look in Regional and Language Options > Keyboards and Languges. Click on 'Change Keyboards', which brings up the 'Text Services and Input Languages' dialog.
In the 'General' tab, click on 'Add', to add the language of your choice. The Language Bar is a small control panel that appears on the desktop (you can also dock it in the Windows Taskbar), which allows you to easily switch keyboard layouts. Note, though, that the keyboard shortcuts  for the language Bar will steal the ALT key from Photoshop, so it's best not to use them.

I am changing from Word to Pages. I have created my custom template with all my styles etc and that is what comes up when I go for a New Document. Fine. How do I get it to use the same Custom Template when I use Pages to open a Word document?

The template is a document in itself, it is not applied to an existing document whether it is a Pages document or a Word document converted to a Pages document.
You would need to either copy and paste content, using existing styles, or apply the styles to the converted Word document.
You can Import the Styles from an existing document and those imported Styles can be used to override the current document's styles:
Menu > Format > Import Styles
The process is simplified if the styles use the same names, otherwise you will need to delete the style you don't want and replace it with the one that you do want when asked, then the substitution is pretty straightforward.

  • Recentley printing most documents in firefox print on 1/4 of the page and not the complte document. When I print the same thing in safari it prints fine. Please advise how I can get proper printing in firefox

When using Firefox to print most documents ( boarding passes, mastercard statements, genealogy documents) the printing only shows on 1/4 of the page, is in the lower left quarter and does not print part of the right side of the information. When I go into Safari and print the same documents within 2 minutes they always print fine. We like Firefox and would prefer to continue to use but if we can't print we will have to use Safari more often

I have the same problem with cutting of the page since installing the new version. If you manually zoom out the print it only shows 1/4 of the page on a whole page of paper. Something is wrong here.
I have done all these steps and it still does NOT print correctly!
I am a IT professional and something is not right with the new firefox browser. Please supply with fix or we will have to permanently switch back to Internet Explorer, which works perfectly.

  • How do I hyperlink to a page in the same document in pages

I have used the help and also read the Pages user manual on how to hyperlink to a specific word or words in the same document and nothing works. The main problem is the when I try to set a bookmark the + is not highlighted to add the word or words that I highlighted.

    Tom,
Well, I was considering that a blank page requires a page break, and since you can insert a page break after a page that is so full that adding one more character would force a new page, it isn't exactly on the previous page, either. It's kind of between the pages.
Nevertheless, if you show invisibles, the page break shows itself on the previous page, and if you select it for your bookmark, it will jump to the end of the previous page, so basically your objection is valid. If you have a completely blank page it would be better to type a single space onto the page and use that for the bookmark. I think this could only be the case for the final page in a document; every page before that must have at least a page break or a section break on it.

  • BUG REPORT: 2 JTextComponents using the same Document

When 2 JTextComponents use the same Document they should show the same.
However when you add them to JTabbedPane to 2 different tabs, one does not show the document correctly, until you resize the window.
Compile and run the code example to see for yourself.
If you append "<first message"> and "<second message>" the first tab will show the correct document:
    <first message>
    <second message>
But if you then switch to the second tab (do not switch to it earlier), you will see:
    <first message><second message>
    <second message>
Add some more messages to see the effect and then resize the window to see the problem dissappear magically.
