Use a button on mighty mouse to access front row

Is there a way to change a button on my mighty mouse to bring up front row?

The shareware programme Steer Mouse will let you do this.

  • Script for Button 3 or using side buttons on Mighty Mouse for Button 3

Looks like the preferences for Mighty Mouse only allow the side "squeeze" buttons to be used for Button 4. I don't want to use the scroll ball for Button 3 because it keeps zooming when i do. Does anyone know how to write a script to configure the side buttons to be Button 3?

I think I'm having a similar problem. Lately, my side buttons have been activating seemingly on their own. I hear multiple clicking sounds. I know I can turn off the button, but I use USB Overdrive to activate page back in browsers and the Finder, so I can be surfing and be brought back several pages at once. Very irritating. It doesn't seem to be consistent either. I bought my latest iMac in June, so I the warranty should be in place, but I'm an hour and half from the nearest Apple store, making it somewhat inconvenient to have the mouse looked at.
Heh, right when I was about to post this message, it went back several pages.

  • I upgraded to OS X  Mavericks however I cannot access Front Row

    Hi,
I used to be able to call up the menu screen on our iMac using the remote, however I cannot do this any more.
My daughter upgraded our system to OS X Mavericks and now I cannot access Front Row.
The Red Chair icon is not in our applications list either
I tried to download an update to Front Row and the message reads that this update require Front Row so it can update.
I cannot find Front Row anywhere.
If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

The $99 alternative to Front Row is the AppleTV box.  You connect it to an HDMI port on your TV and to the internet either wirelessly or wired.
You turn on Home Sharing on both iTunes and AppleTV and you will have access to all of the compatible media from your computer while iTunes is running
If you have an iPhone or iPad and depending upon the age of your iMac, it supports AirPlay, which will "move" the media you are watching from these devices to your TV through the AppleTV.  If your iMac is too old, look at Air Parrot.
In addition to access to the iTunes Store, AppleTV gives you many extras, such as subscription required services such as Netflix, HBOGO, PBS, Smithsonian, and many more that do not require a subscription (for example, when travelling I watch the NBC Nightly News as a free Podcast).

  • Side buttons of mighty mouse

I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a script for making the side buttons on the mouse the foward and back buttons when youre browsing the web.

lol if only it was that easy, unfortunately they don't offer those commands unless I'm totally missing something. I found a program called SteerMouse that lets you but you eventually have to buy it.

  • How can I use apple remote with Mountain Lion? Any Front Row alternative?

    Hi All,
I recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
All great except for my Apple Remote control.
Before, I could effectively control my iMac media with Apple Remote by using Front Row (music, photos, videos, good integration with iTunes and iPhoto).
Now, as I understand, Front Row is expired.
So, my Apple remote still works but with very limited options (just music, forward, backward and volume), and it's a real pity.
Any of you Guys know how to restore Front Row?
Otherwise maybe suggest an alternative (sth similar, should allow iMac media control by Apple Remote)?
So far I tried to restore all Front Row files by a Time Capsule Snow Leopard backup (as indicatred on some other Communities).
To restore was easy, but then, no way to launch it.
    Any advice will help!
    Thanks in advance/all the best.
    Marco

Thanks Klaus1 for your prompt answer, although I went again through a dated discussion.
I also got the feeling that somehow they want to push Apple TV..
But, respectfully speaking towards our Friends at Apple, is it fair to promise what you don't deliver?
I have choosen apple because I percive it's different.
    At currently published link: http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC377Z/A/apple-remote
    they do promote the following:
    Apple Remote with Mac
The Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. It works with Front Row - a menu-based, full-screen interface - to make accessing the digital content on your Mac as simple as navigating your iPod. When you press the Menu button, your desktop fades and the sleek, Front Row interface takes its place, to give you control over your music in iTunes, your photos in iPhoto, the videos in your Videos folder and your DVDs. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slide show, a home video that you made in iMovie, even a film trailer.
Compatible with Apple products introduced in 2005 or later that have a built-in infrared (IR) receiver. Not compatible with MacBook Pro with Retina display.
Cost for this is 15£ (19€).
Now, I have iMac and Mac Book Pro (no retina display) both with Mountain Lion installed, and I understand both of them are not compatible with Front Row.
Actually I adore apple tv and I got 2 at home nicely working on 2 different TVs.
So I accomplished twice their wish of selling this product to me.
Why shall they deceive me (and many others, as I read) by killing a still promised service?
Should I read all forums before buying a trusted-brand-product like apple, to ensure that id does what declared?
Don't get me wrong, I'm an enthusiast user of the whole apple family, since many years, and still I am.
Just politely complaining for this decision, which creates to Many an easy avoidable disservice.
    Cheers

  • Access Front Row on older mac?

I have an older Mac Pro tower about 2 years old. I installed Leopard on it.
I recently purchased a new intel tower.
I would like to set up my old tower to my HD television and network to it with my new one.
I could transfer my home movies to it, etc.
I would like to do this and use Front Row as a medium. Is there any remote that will operate
Front Row on an older PC G-5, (sort of like the iMacs come with remotes that work with Front Row).
I tried to use one of those remotes from a friends's iMac, (I purchased a blue tooth module that works with the mouse) but I couldn't get it to work on Front Row on the G-5.
Anyone know of a remote that would work on Front Row on a G-5 running Leopard?

Anyone know of a remote that would work on Front Row on a G-5 running Leopard?
You can't use an Apple remote very easily (there are IR receivers with additional software that can do it). But, you can use the Keyspan RF Remote for Front Row. Originally designed for people with Front Row on a computer that may be hidden (a home theater type device that may be inside a cabinet, for example), it has a radio-frequency remote and USB receiver that can be used by any Mac with Leopard:

  • 3 button on mighty mouse - setting keeps resetting

The third button keeps changing from dashboard. I have never had this problem with 10.4 but have had to have it back numerous times. Anyone know what might be causing that?

Those actions are user defined in System Preferences>mouse. The definition for the center ball may have gone back to the defaults. Check there and redefine if necessary. Mine is currently set for Expose.. but it's easy to change. Just use the drop down box and pick "other". Then the applications folder on the left and Mail in the resulting list.
    Cheers

  • Mighty Mouse and Front Row

Is there any way i can use my mighty mouse to control front row (got an ibook, so remote won't work)?

It turns out that the mouse ball was just incredibly dirty--I cleaned it out by rolling the mouse upside-down on a clean sheet of paper and all is well.

  • Using Bluetooth Mighty Mouse

I have a new Mac Pro and a Macbook Pro. Can I use the same bluetooth Mighty Mouse for both computers? I tried pairing it with the second mac after it was already paired and it stopped working with the first.
    Thanks!

It can only be paired with one computer at a time.

  • How to wired mighty mouse in windows 7

i am using an old apple mighty mouse with my windows notebook. the trackball doesn't work and the configuration panel in Windows 7 doesn't config mighty mouse button. is there any solution to config mighty mouse in Windows 7? thank you.

There is no need for additional drivers.
    Why?
If you have a Wireless Mighty Mouse you have to turn your computer visible for other devices in the Bluetooth preferences - then simply search for Bluetooth devices, connect - done!
To configure the Mighty Mouse's buttons, you might want to have a look at a tool called X-Mouse Button Control (http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/XMouseButtonControl.htm).

  • Problems with mighty mouse clicking

Hi everybody, happy New Year first of all!
Then my problem: I bought an Intel iMac about 1 year ago, and have been using the supplied wired mighty mouse since then. I set it up with left+right top buttons.
I didn't have a single problem until a few weeks ago.
First, the "typycal dirty scrolling ball" which seems to be solved by rubbing the ball on a piece of papere with the mouse up side down.
Second, and most annoying, *the click functions seems to perform worse than before*. I mean, it looks like *I need more pressure now to have the mouse click* (either left or right) on links, icons, etc.
Result: about half of the times, clicking the mouse (using the pressure I was used to) has no effort, I need to re-click with more intensity.
Did anybody of you experience the same problem? I cannot understand if it is kind of software problem (say, something that can be solved by some restore function) or a physical one (dirt? But the mighty mouse cannot be unassembled...).
    TIA to all,
    Giopad65

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse Looses Right Click Functionality

I am using a new Wireless Mighty Mouse (about one month old) With new batteries.
Since I started using it, the (secondary) right click would stop function after repeated use. After many frustrating trouble shooting attempts, I discovered that the Right Click will work again if the mouse is left idle for about 15 - 20 minutes.
I will like to know if this is a defect that's inherent in the Mighty Mouse system, and if so, has anyone found a solution to this problem or is there a fix?
Any input would be very much appreciated

    Mac G5. 2ghz DP   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Unfortunately my experience suggests no. I'm on my 5th (or is it 6th?) wireless Mighty Mouse now, and they've all behaved just as you described. The latest replacement was only a week ago. I suspect the only point in replacing it further times would be to demonstrate that you've tried all you can. As far as I can tell, my only recourse at this point is convincing Apple to refund me, which is a shame because I like the scroll ball design.
I should note that I'm in Australia, in case stock has been slower to update here, but it shouldn't make a difference...
I've noticed that the problem seems to occur a lot more frequently under hot conditions - room heater on, hot hands etc. Could it still think the left button is being touched because it's warm and/or sweatier than usual?

  • Mighty Mouse - Can I go backwards and forwards in Safari

I have a wireless mighty mouse that I use along with my MacBook Pro. At work I have a PC and a wireless optical mouse that allows me to move back and forth through web pages by pressing a separate key on the mouse. Is there a way to add a forward/back button to Mighty Mouse's functionality?
    Thanks

    Hello Kevin,
IF you can, it would be in System Preferences -> Keyboard and mouse -> mouse. Look at the settings for the mouse buttons.
    I don't have a mouse so I can't tell you, sorry.

  • Bluetooth Mighty Mouse Problems - NO RIGHT CLICK.

i tried dozens of times... i can't use the right click. it acts as a primary button even though i set it to secondary...
is there another way of setting it so that it is secondary that i didn't do so that it would cause such a phenomenon?
    I NEED HELP. please.

    Alex,
Do a search of this forum for "mighty mouse right button" or "mighty mouse secondary button." There are a number of problems it may be. The first thing to be sure is that you aren't touching the left button at all while you try to right click. The MM works via sensing whether a finger is on the right or left side of the mouse, and if you are touching the left button even slightly it will register as a primary click rather than a secondary.
Second, there are also issues that have been reported with the BT MM losing the ability to sense that primary / secondary difference after some period of time. Replacing the mouse (sometimes needing to go through a few replacements) does seem to eventually fix that.
If it doesn't seem to be an issue with contact on the sensor, I'd suggest returning the mouse and requesting a new one.
