Use a Iphone 4 unlocked from US in another country?

Hi everybody! I'm in the US for the moment but i will come back in France in 3 months. I would like to know if i can buy an unlocked iphone in the US and use it after in France with my french SIM? =)

Be aware that the warranty on iPhones is not international. If you have a problem with a US-sold iPhone that requires service from Apple, you would probably have to ship the iPhone to someone in the US to take or send it to Apple and then ship it back to you. You therefore may want to purchase a cheap cell phone with a pay-as-you-go plan for use while you're in the US, and then purchase your iPhone when you return to France.

The only way to use an iPhone from Japan in India is to pay your Japanese carrier for international roaming. Japanese iPhones can not be unlocked.

If you are in the UK you can buy a PAYG sim and become a customer again
follow the O2 instructions to get it unlocked

I got my IPhone unlock from AT&T, but still when I restore my IPhone with ITunes its not getting unlock. It says invalid SIM.
Can you let me know my Unlock code to get it unlock my IPhone 4?
Can you please verify me whether in your system its unlock now. As AT&T told me that they had already processed the request to Apple for the unlock and if it still not working need to contact Apple.

There is no unlock code, simply connect the device via iTunes and if it has been authorized to be unlocked it will unlock.

I really think you should look at the deals from the UK networks with monthly contracts before you do self import.
And remember that ALL UK networks WILL unlock contract phones after a qualifying peroid and for a small fee -Approx £20.00 is the going rate and after no more than three months.

I then signed up for a sim only contract from EE but was miss sold a service which they do not provide so I have now cancelled that contract. Apple has a extensive list of every iPhone that was made and each phone has its own number. On each number is a code that locks the phone to the service provider. The only way that Apple can change the code to your phone is if it is authorized by the service provider. So you will have to go back to EE and ask them to unlock your phone, and this will probably have an accompanying fee for unlocking as most providers do.
The strange thing is that you bought your iPhone unlocked and it managed to become locked during this process. You should have just been able to put a sim card in from one company and then just put another in from a different without any issues.
When dealing with EE make sure to raise that point if they try to charge you with an unlocking fee.
Unfortunately Apple is not in a position that can help you, they will probably tell you to call your service provider.

I need some serious help. Basically my girlfriend has gone to New Zealand, we had her iphone unlocked and then because her phone's power button broke we swapped with a replacement from apple.
They assured us that if we just plugged the iphone straight in and synced with the laptop it would all be fine, however she is now in New Zealand and they are saying its not unlocked.
The guy in the store said the unlock would carry across, would the imei number have changed? Could this be the issue?
Is there any way at all we can get the unlock to work out in new zealand without her laptop?????????????

Basically we went into a phone shop who pay apple to unlock the IMIE number, when i went into the Apple store they confirmed that the IMIE was unlocked and ready to use.
Her UK sim card works in the handset as she just messaged me from it, however her New Zealand one doesnt, she went into Vodafone who were here carrier here and they said the handset wasnt unlocked?
