Use a PS/2 keyboard with OS X over passive USB
Hi,
I was chuffed when I found a PS/2 -> USB converter in my local shop for only £2.99. I was less chuffed when I got home and found it didn't work. Turns out the fine-print indicates only certain keyboards are capable of using passive USB adapters; others require an active device that translates the PS/2 input. After a web search I found this thread, but it seems to be discussing using an experimental PS/2 driver for Intel-based PCs. Does such a thing exist for the Power PC architecture? Can anyone suggest a way of using a PS/2 keyboard over passive USB?
SiR G.
Thanks Dave, Now I can go to the store.

can i use a non-apple keyboard with my imac?
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can use the keyboard you want with your iMac. However, note that some keys, as the Command key, aren't present in non-Apple keyboards. For example, in a non-Apple keyboard, you have to press the Windows key because that's the replacement of the Command key of an Apple keyboard -
I use an Apple bluetooth keyboard with my iPad. In messages I can't find a way to "send" a message without tapping on Send on the iPad's screen. I've tried every key and key combo that I can think of. Am I missing something?
I already have multiple devices and by far I like my iPad the most over laptops and the iPad. That including checking out my friends MacBook Air.
The difference for me is the touch interface on the screen itself for things that do not require a lot of typing. For me, the iPad is more "magical" than anything else I've used.
Again, I do appreciate your answers but you don't know my situation. Not everything is as it is perceived without knowing me and what I have to go through. -
Can i Use The Apple Wired Keyboard With Camera Connector Kit
Can i Use The Apple Wired Keyboard With Camera Connector Kit
3g 64gb verizonPeople report it is still possible to use a wired USB keyboard with the CCK, if you use a powered USB hub to get around the "not enough power" error message. (I have done this with an older Apple USB keyboard my non-jailbroken iPad1 on iOS 4.3.3.) Normally, powered USB hubs have a AC power adapter so you lose portability unless you can find a battery powered USB hub. At this point, the (in)convinience of the USB hub becomes an issue, depending on what you get.
And wired USB keyboard were never supported for the iPad. So there's no guarantee that it will continue to work with future iPad updates from Apple. So best to go with a Bluetooth keyboard unless you have a specific USB keyboard that you "must" use. If you have all the equipment already, I say give it a try. But I would not recommend trying a USB keyboard if you have to purchase anything. -

Can I use an iMac Bluetooth Keyboard with an iPad1 or iPad2?
Do I need a keyboard that state's it is for ipad? Or can I use the Apple iMac Bluetooth keyboard for my ipad?
I don't see anywhere on the Apple iMac keybaord box that states it is compatible.
I find the 3rd party ipad keyboards to be flimsy in construction.
Thanks

Is anyone using the novation impulse keyboard with Logic pro x?
is anyone using the novation impulse keyboard with Logic pro x?
I currently have an M-Audio Axium controller but I cannot map any of the controllers.
I need to buy a 25 key controller anyway so I was hoping to get one that works well with Logic Pro XI have the Logitech S530 keyboard and mouse. I had no problems with it while I was using it with 2 PowerMac G5 and one Dell XPS, but when I got the MacPro I found that it doesn't work with MacPro and a KVM switch. Logitech says their keyboard and mice are NOT made to work with KVM switches, but I didn't find that until I started using it with the Mac Pro.
The other small con is that the mouse is made for right handed people. On the other hand, I love the looks and feel of the keyboard and all the keys. It also will do the boot up holding down the Option key for choosing your startup drive and holding down the Shift key for Safe Mode, which the Kensington keyboard will not do.

Farmville will not load using Firefox, but it will with IE, for over a week now.
Farmville will not load using Firefox, but it will with IE, for over a week now. I have cleared the cache and cookies multiple times, updated flash player, did a virus and malware scan, allowed java script, allowed mozilla in the Windows firewall, contacted Zynga multiple times, and yet Farmville still will not load using Firefox, my main and preferred browser. I'm very frustrated and want this fixed.
Thanks for the advice cor-el, but if you would read the info I posted, I already did that, SEVERAL TIMES. That's not the solution unfortunately.

How do you use the same wireless keyboard with multiple devices?
My apologies in advance if this question has been answered previously. There was nothing in the owner's manual (for the keyboard) that answered this. I did do a rough search that did not yield an answer to this:
I have one wireless keyboard I am using with my Macbook Pro. I understand this keyboard can also be used as an input device for my Apple TV and my iPhone - both of which I currently own.
And although I am able to use the keyboard with those devices, I am forced to "forget this device" after having used it on either the Apple TV or my iPhone so that I can use it on my MacBook Pro. Is there any combination of keys that one can press on the keyboard that would cycle through my three devices? As it is right now, if I don't "forget the device" on my secondary units, it somehow defaults to a peripheral OTHER than my MacBook Pro and I'd like for it to always default to my computer.
Thank you for any information/advice.Bump

iPhone 6 page says that iMovie is a (free) application available for iPhone 6. When I use it on the desktop I need a mouse. Should I expect all controls to be touch-sensitive, or is it possible to use the wireless Magic Mouse? Similarly, if I want to type an email or a long document, is it possible to use the Mac wireless keyboard to enter text? With the iPhone 6 Plus taking over for laptops (phablet), it seems to me that input tools are relevant. Maybe what I'm asking is whether the iPhone6 (OS8) has drivers for these devices. Please advise.
Apps that are designed for iOS devices such as the iOS version of iMovie are intended to be used entirely by touch. It's worth noting that iMovie for iOS is not absolutely identical to iMovie for Mac OS.

Using a Mac wireless keyboard with a MacBook
I just bought a mac wireless keyboard with the intention of using an external monitor and a wireless keyboard with my MacBook (Leopard - 10.5.4.) I have a logitech cordless mouse. I installed the firmware update for the keyboard, it shows connected, and is turned, the light flashed for about 3 seconds, but the wireless keyboard doesn't work - only the laptop keyboard works. Any suggestions? I'm thinking it's beyond my expertise and I just need to return it and use it as a laptop. Do I have to also have a wireless mouse?
Excuse the ring. I finally found the answer. You can't have mouse enabled in Universal Access if you're using a keyboard that doesn't have the number keypad at the right.

Can I use my mac wireless keyboard with iPad?
I'm sure it will work - using my Apple wireless keyboard that I use with my laptop.... and use it with my iPad
Just wondering... would there be any problems or downfalls I haven't thought of?
Sounds like a dumb question
I've just seen a Belkin iPad keyboard advertised for £80 (more than the Apple wireless keyboard for laptops)
So I thought... there *must* be 'something' I'm missing?
Thanks
OmarYes it will work. However, you would need to delete it from one device before you attach it to the new device. Bluetooth devices may only be paired with one thing at a time (for obvious reasons).
