Use a remote iPad for development purposes?

I want to allow my partner's iPad to test my apps. No problem, of course if the iPad is within connecting distance to XCode. However, the iPad is at a remote location, and my partner doesn't use a Mac.
How can I authorise the device and transfer my apps to it for testing?

  • Is Standard Edition free for development purpose

    Hello,
    I am using Oracle 10g express edition on a 32-bit Redhat Enterprise Linux 4. My test database have come upto 2gb and after that the database stopped working. I have been told to change to 64-bit OS through forums because of the 2gb file size limitation for 32-bit OS. When I checked the Oracle downoad site, there is no 32-bit Oracle express edition 10g. There is a 64-bit Oracle standard edition. Is Oracle 10g Standard Edition free for development purposes? What about Oracle 11g Standard edition?

    All Oracle software, though, is available for download from OTN with a license that allows you to prototype your application. Once the application is beyond the prototype phase, you'd need to purchase an appropriate license for your development environment, but you may just be looking at prototyping...
    As well, note that the database size and RAM restrictions in the express edition would not be expected to change if Oracle ever released a 64-bit version. The whole point of those restrictions is to ensure that the free express edition doesn't cannibalize sales of the standard edition databases.

    Dears,
    I have an Information Technology school and I'm wondering if I can use Oracle Express Edition for Educational purposes. Do I need any special licenses for this?
    I noticed the following statement on Oracle 11g Express download (Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2) but would like to confirm if I have any restrictions about that.

    Hello All,
    I wanted to install SOA Suite 11g for development purpose on my laptop (OS Windows XP).
    As per installtion prerequisite process in the download page of oracle.
    I found the following pre requisite - installation of Oracle DB 11g EE(although i am having Oracle DB 10g R2 10.0.2.0 - now the problem is i am not able to run RCU in this data base, so i installed 11g)
    Jdev 11g Download
    Web Logic Server
    RCU Utlilty run
    then SOA Suite installation.
    My doubt is , is there any SOA development installation available because 11g DB EE takes lot of space in my system.
    if available please provide the link.

  • Firewall software & using a remote control for AirTunes?

    I recently turned on the built-in firewall on my MacBook Pro. Ever since doing so, every time a run iTunes, get the following message:
    Your computer is using firewall software that prevents
    you from using a remote control for AirTunes.
    To use a remote control for AirTunes, open System Preferences, click
    Sharing, then click Firewall, and select "iTunes Music Sharing."
    I always tell it to "Ignore" and I am able to play music through my AirPort Express without any trouble. What is the "remote control" to which this message is referring? I have searched Apple's support pages and this forum without any luck. I thought that opening the "iTunes Music Sharing" port in the firewall would allow other people on my local network to see my music if I was sharing it, which I am not. I don't see what this has to do with a remote control.
    Thank you for any info you can provide.
    -- Gary

    Hi,
    there is no remote control for AirPortExpress or Air Tunes. Maybe we will see something like this in the futue, who knows.
    As AirTunes uses streaming, it probabely needs the same port open as Music Sharing. Because shared music is streamed too.

    I have two iPads. With two functioning iPads. Is it possible (on the same ID) to sync two of them differently with the same account. So I want to use the new iPad for all my current functions. The old iPad for just my music collection and remove all the other stuff?

    Very easily. I have an iPod touch and iPad on the same account with totally different content.
    If you use iTunes, connect each iPad to your computer and open iTunes and deselect any automatic updating/syncing. If you don't sync with iTunes but have them set up independently, under the settings, App Store, turn off automatic downloads for apps, etc.
    I'm old fashioned, I set up and sync my iPad and iPod to my computer and iTunes. Each device has a different name  and I manage content manually and only allow sharing on what I want shared.

  • Personal iPad for corporate purposes

    Our company specializes in passenger transportation and we are planning to start using personal IPAD tablet PC s for corporate purposes.
    Please consult us on following question:
    1.       Is it possible to use and administrate personal IPADs  in corporate purposes?
    2.       Is it possible to use these IPADs in multi-user mode?
    3.       Are the services in previous two question be available with IOS 8.0?

    We manage 1300 BYOD iOS devices via our MDM, AirWatch.  You can push various profiles and settings to the devices.  As I understand it a basic MDM is contained with Lion Server; you can take a look at that to get some ideas about how it works.  You need to have buy-in from your users, when you enroll their devices in an MDM you grant control over the device to the MDM.  We require MDM enrollment for users to access Enterprise email,contacts,calendar and tasks on their personal iOS devices.
    The MDM can also enforce encryption on the device without the necessity of associating it with a particular email account.  As RCharles said, multiple individuals can use the device, sequentially, and as long as they perform the same tasks, they can all use the same apps. An example in a healthcare environment might be a phlebotomist using an iPod to scan bar codes on patient blood samples.  At the end of one shift, the phlebotomist would pass the device to his or her successor.  AirWatch also has a device check in and check out feature.  Say nurses and physicians want to use the same device.  The device could be checked out with a nurses profile, when the nurse had completed the necessary tasks it could be checked back in.  The physician would then check out the device, the physician profile would be applied, and the physician would perform the required tasks with a different set of apps, or different access, then check the device back in.

  • Using the Macbook Air for intensive purposes?

    Hi all,
          I purchased my Macbook Air a year and half ago (2012 model). Purchased it because it was Macbook Air or the Macbook Pro and I saw it would be better to develop on an Air because it had an ssd and I haven't used an Optical Drive in ages. Ever since then I had 2 Failures in components. One was SSD, which I hardly used just because I was using Ubuntu at the time on an External Hard Drive. Second, was the Logic Board and I/O board which started to eject my externals randomly. I make sure my computer runs no more than 80C by turning off cores and disabling Turbo Boost while gaming (Everything on Lowest playable setting) or compiling and such.
        Anyways, I am asking if any one casually plays intensive games and/or any CPU/GPU intesive tasks and had no problems what so ever and never needed a repair from the Apple Store.
         Why am I asking this? I am asking this because I kind of see Apple Notebooks falling in the wrong direction in notebooks. Don't get me wrong, I like their products and their form factors, but it seems to me that they do no account for all scenarios of using a computer. For Instance, I held in my hand the Heatsink they used on my Air and its not bigger than my hand. I don't want to be judgy, but it seems way too insufficient to cool a cpu of 17TDP no matter how fast fan is pushing the air out of the computer. It is just absurd.
         The best thermal set up I have ever seen Apple produce was the Macbook Pro Retina 13". It had two seperate fans that cooled ONE CPU. Not sure what kind of direction they are going for, but I think most of all problems that keep me returning to the Apple store for repairs is the continous spread of intense heat around the computer. This also goes for the Currents Macbook Pros which Now only Have one fan cooling everything. I seriously could care less about weight, they could add half a pound to the computer to add an extra fan to computer if it means I dont have to return to the Apple Store every five minutes. At this point I think the best way to keep my Air returning to the Apple Store is to just check emails or watch youtube at this point, which I could do on a $300 netbook.
         I would like to see what your guy's opinion about this matter? Is doing anything intensive OK doing on a Mac Notebook?

    My primary machine is still a late-2008 unibody 15" MBP (2.53Ghz Core 2 Duo) bought in early 2009.  I cannot say I ever do much that is GPU intensive and usually do not use the discrete GPU most of the time.  But, I have done work on it that is very CPU intensive - computations that have max'd out the CPU load for as long as 12-24hrs at a time (overnight analysis runs), and which have ramped up the fans to or near maximum rpm and cpu temperatures steady in the 90's degree centigrade for hours.  This machine is now 5 years old and runs fine and has never required any service from Apple.  I upgraded it to 8GB RAM a couple of years ago, and I replaced the original battery but that is all that has been done to it.
    I use a desk-top stand (from a maker who's name escapes me now? its old, bought back before this particular MBP) that keeps it raised about 0.5" at the front and maybe 1.25-1.5" at the rear so it has good air flow all the time.
    However, games that are both very taxing on the CPU and the GPU at the same time will certainly put a higher thermal load then I've experienced, and my MBP has dual fans.

  • How to set Updates with 11.3 when using Apple Remote Desktop for installation?

    So for all pre-11.3 versions of Flash Player on OSX, I have just pulled out the "Adobe Flash Player.pkg" installer package from the installer .dmg and used Apple Remote Desktop to deploy Flash to the Macs I manage.
    However, when doing that with Flash 11.3, this leaves the "Updates" setting in the Flash Player System Preference set to "Notify me to install updates".
    I'd like to push something that would set this to "Allow Adobe to install updates".
    Is there a way to modify the .pkg installer to have the System Preference set to that value (or push/copy some other .plist file to the clients to have that setting enabled?)
    Thanks!

    I poked around a bit and the file seems to be:
    /Library/Application Support/Macromedia/mms.cfg
    I'd like to get some confirmation from Adobe that this is the correct file to push, though (it seems like it as it only contains this):
    AutoUpdateDisable=0
    SilentAutoUpdateEnable=1

  • Can I use adobe illustrator fonts for commercial purposes?

    Hi,
    I have purchased adobe illustrator CS4. Does this mean I can use any of the fonts installed in the program for commercial purposes?
    I am currently doing a t-shirt design and want to use the font Verdana in the design. I plan to reprint and sell this t-shirt indefinitely.
    Is this legal?
    Kay.

    you can use the fonts you can even send the fonts to the printer you can certainly use them on the web, when you send the font it is usually only for the convenience of not having the Print House load the fonts, but since most font hoses have illustrator it is not a problem they have the fonts as well.
    They only keep the fonts with your job if you send it. For instance if you send them a project with a font that is part of their font library hen they will ask you to send them even if another client has  or is using that font. if they get 10 or so instance were the same font shows up and they think it is a trend they buy the font as a convenience for their customers.You can not distribute the fonts to other user not even free fonts.
    But sending it part of the job is fine, printers have no interest starting up with the large foundry houses and they understand the copyright laws and would put themselves in a bad light if they broke this ethic so it is not going to happen for $30.00 for a font.
    You are fine you bought Illustrator and so you have a license for them.
    One difference between the fonts you get from Illustrator and and the ones you purchase is that the ones you purchase are allowed to be installed on five machines usually and the fonts that are included with Illustrator can only be installed with the copy of Illustrator, technically that means two machines.
    But the way it works since you can install the same Illustrator on as many machines as you want but can only activate it on two an use on one of those two at any one time it is possible that you would be in violation of your license since the fonts do not need Adobe activation to be available for other applications.
    So it you're doing that then you're a felon buddy!

  • Using cRIO chassis slots for general-purpose

    hi,
    i have cRIO 9004 and cRIO 9103 chassis, labview 2011...
    as i know, cRIO chassis controls its slots if there present any module or not.. if detect anyone, read EEPROM and so on..
    but how can i control cRIO chassis slots for my own general-purpose without any module...
    when i create projects, it just shows me as chassis I/O
    * chassis Temperature
    * FPGA LED
    * Scan Clock
    * Sleep
    * system reset
    i couldn't write anything from chassis slots and see on oscilloscope screen, (for example: using as analog or digital output) ...
    Davut..
    Solved!

    thanks for your reply
    in fact i have...
    -module development kit 2.0
    -compactRIO module support 4.0.1
    -NIRIO 4.0
    i know which pins i can use for DIO or etc..
    the point is, i haven't thought that it is not possible without hardware.. i read the manuals but couldn't create all structure in my mind..
    So, as i understand from your message, i have some programs but it s not possible to controlling chassis slots without hardware.. am i right?
