Use a still photo of Host instead of a video feed in a Meeting room

can a host use a still photo instead of a live video feed? if so how do you set that up?  We are running into bandwith issues with participants and the video seems to be the issue.
thx.

Hi kcdcngc,
Yes, you should use only a photo, if it suffices and video is not an option! Use a Share Pod to upload an image and fit it in the layout, as desired.
Here's a snapshot of my Connect room.
Let us know how this works for you.

Might need a little more information here. Are you trying to obtain screen captures? If all you're wanting to do is take stills from your videos then the answer is yes, you can but you'll have to transfer your videos from your iPhone to your computer first (unless you can find an APP on the iTunes store to help you to do it on your iPhone).
There are a few ways to do it. The first is that you can use the button on your keyboard called "Prt Scr" or "Print Screen". This takes a shot of your screen which you can then "paste" into a program like paint, or photoshop or even Word to then save as a jpeg image. When using this option a good trick is to use "Alt" + "Prt Scr" to only capture the current window rather than your entire desktop.
The other way to obtain screenshots is to download and install a program designed to do this for you. A great site to find something free to help you out is www.tucows.com. Try this link: http://www.tucows.com/search.html?search_scope=win&search_terms=screenshot&searc h_type=all
Also, some DVD programs have this function in built in them so it's a good idea to explore what's already installed on your computer.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to use portrait still photos in Premier Pro CS4

I am new to Premier Pro and want to insert a bunch of still photos into a video I am making of a recent vacation.  A lot of the photos have a portrait orientation, and when I import them into Premier Pro, they are automatically turned to landscape.  Can you tell me an easy way to have the pictures flipped 90 degrees?  I do not want to show the motion of the flipping - I just want the pictures to be oriented correctly. I am fine with a fill border on the sides of the pictures.  Thank you!

Rotating still in the Effect Controls is somewhat work intensitive.
If you have Photoshop you can batch rotate them.
Otherwise open them in the Windows Viewer, rotate and close.
If al is well the still will now import correct.

  • Anyone used VisionNet system "designed to provide real-time streaming video feeds over the Internet"?

I'm a Mac user and we only have Macs at home. My son just started preschool, which offers a VisionNet system--"a state-of-the-art system of cameras, servers, and software designed to provide real-time streaming video feeds over the Internet." However, on the VisionNet FAQ page, it specifies the following:
"You need a web browser that is Java-enabled, perferably Microsoft Internet Explorer.  If you're running Microsoft Internet Explorer, it needs to be version 6.x or higher.  We recommend Internet Explorer 6.x as this is the latest and most up-to-date product release.  Some Windows XP and Windows XP Professional users will have do download a Java runtime environment in order to use the VisionNet system if they have not done so already."
We don't have any PCs at home, so I  tried to log in using my MacPro desktop, my old MacBook Pro and my new MBP. Basically, for the last 3 weeks I've managed to access the site only ONCE from my desktop and after the time-out session, I wasn't able to log on ever again (I just cannot enter any keys on the Username and Password fields at login). If I hit the Logon button from the FAQ page, I get an "Unauthorized Access" pop-up message: "This site may only be entered from an authorized web site! Please enter this site from your childcare provider's web site." When I enter "OK" I immediately get a pop-up menu "Confirm Dialog Preference. Prevent this page from creating additional dialogs" but I still can't enter any keys at login. It does nothing!
The "support guy" has NO knowledge of Macs, so I don't know where else to go. The fact that I had successfully logged on once makes me believe it's something I have to update/delete/add in my Preferences in Firefox (I've used Safari and Chrome with no success). I've also considered purchasing an inexpensive PC just for this lousy VisionNet system  but I want to see if anyone has any ideas or advice.
Can anyone please help me?   Thank you in advance!

Here is a link to the finished PSA at Vimeo. It is not an outstanding production or anything too special, but it is worth noting that while some of the stills were doctored in Photoshop, the entirety of the editing and motion graphics were done in Premiere CS6.02; and the timeline playback was RealTime thanks to the MPE Hardware Acceleration and a GTX 560 2GB.

  • How do I use Premiere Elements 9 to synch and mix 2 video feeds?

I am trying to put together a wrestling television show using Premiere Elements 9. We use 2 different cameras, a stationary hard camera and a moving ring camera. In the past I have used an Avio system where I manually synched the 2 feeds and then I was able to drag and drop the ring camera feed on to the stationary hard camera.  How do I do this function using this software? Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, PrE does not have direct multi-cam functionality. PrPro does, allowing one to sync up to 4 cameras, and if you Nest Multi-camera Sequences, you can do more, though not quite so easily as with four.
With PrE, it's probably easiest to place your main camera Clip(s) on Video Track 1, and edit that as needed. Then, bring in the second camera's Clip(s) onto Video Track 2, and reduce the Fixed Effect>Opacity to ~ 40 - 50%, so that you can "see through" them. Then, adjust those, Trimming, as desired, leaving gaps between them. When done, change the Effect>Opacity back to 100%. Transitions can then be applied, if desired, to the Head & Tail of each of those Video Track 2 Clips.
So long as the footage from the two cameras is the same Frame Size, and also matches the Project's Preset Frame Size, nothing more needs to be done, as the footage on Video Track 2 will just visually replace any Frames on Video Track 1.
If you do much multi-cam work, PrPro might be a great investment, as it's Multi-Camera feature will make life so very, very easy.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS - it seems that a few months ago, there was another multi-cam question here, and that Steve Grisetti had a slightly different workflow, than the one that I described. I will post a link to that thread, if I can find it.

  • What is the best format to use for still photos in FCE that will produce the highest resolution?

    Hello,
Can anyone recommend the best suggested format for photo stills in FCE that will provide the highest resolution and best quality output, to be broadcasted on a Standard Definition television network?
    Thanks,
    Susan Kayne

Personally, I prefer uncompressed TIFF or PNG.  But many times it won't matter ... you'll be dropping the images into an SD Sequence, so they will lose resolution on output.

  • Usefulness of still photos on new Ipod Touch

With the new Touch can I take pictures and post them directly to Facebook, or upload them to Flickr or email them using Gmail? How about using them with Twitter?

If the app lets you do it on an iPhone, it will let you do it on your iPod Touch too...
But don't forget, the chances are you wont be connected to a wi-fi hotspot at the time of taking it so I doubt it'll matter.

  • How do I show still photos with audio-only portion of video?

My raw video is an interview with a talking head. I want the audio portion of the video to continue (with video portion not visible) while I show photos relating to what the head is talking about. How do I do this?

Drag the photo onto the frame where you want it to start.
[See Karsten Schluter's blog for a bug I found and how I got around it.|http://sites.google.com/site/karstenschluter/im08tricks] Scroll down to "the many photos over a clip bug"
    Another way:
If you want all slides and no video, you can drag just the audio track into your project by selecting it in the Event and holding down Command and Shift while you drag it into the project.
[Here is a blog entry describing this|http://imovie08.blogspot.com/2007/08/how-to-extract-audio-from-clip.html]
Finally, you could upgrade to iMovie 09 where this is all much easier.

  • Still Photos in iMovie

This may have been asked by another user in the past, but I can't see one at this time. Anyway, I was making a "movie" in iMovie using some still photos mixed in with some video. At any rate, the still photos when viewed in iMovie have jagged edges along straight lines which ruins the quality of the photo. I have tried several procedures to try and resolve this issue, but to no avail. When building a slide show in iPhoto, these same pictures are crystal clear. I have even taken these iPhoto slideshows and exported to quicktime and copied and pasted these into exported iMovie movies, but that seems like too many steps. Besides, since iMovie allows pictures to be imported, I would hope that they should still remain high quality.
Thanks for all your help in advance!

    hi Tully:

  • How do you use a photo as a placeholder for a video in ibooks author?

I am having trouble in ibooks author, I am trying to use a still photo as the place holder for a video, so what I want to do is when you click on the picture, a video will start playing. If anyone knows how to do it, please let me know, thanks!

iBooks Author lets you use an image, such as a .PNG (even one with transparency) as a poster image for your video. When tapped, this image will open your video in full-screen mode.
To do this, first drag your video file onto the page in iBooks Author to create a video widget. Select the widget and, in the Inspector panel under the Widget options, choose the Interaction tab, and check "Full-screen only" (Note: Using a separate image as a placeholder will only work if this option is checked).
Next, simply find the photo file you'd like to use as your poster image—it can be any file, not necessarily a frame from your video—and drag it over the video widget on the page until you see the edges highlighted in blue, and release. That image is now the placeholder for the video, and when tapped it will launch your video in full-screen mode.

  • Why are still photos blurry when I play movie?

I am making a video slideshow using Adobe Premiere Elements 9. Most of the video is made up still photos. When I playback the video the still photos are blurry. What should I do to prevent this? Thanks!

I read your article Bill, and that just seems like a massive amount of work for the average individual who wants to put together a movie. Is all of that really necessary?
With PS, or PSE, and Scaling Actions, one can do batch processing of entire folders of images in moments. That linked article gives setup tips for doing batch scaling very easily, and the Action, plus Automate to Batch, will work on entire folders. My workstation will automatically process ~ 500 4000x3000 pixel images to 720x480 in about 2 mins.
There are two benefits when Scaling stills in an image processing program, prior to Import into an NLE (Non Linear Editor) program:
The processing overhead is greatly reduced
The quality is greatly improved, as the Scaling algorithms in an image processing program, are much better *
If one wants to let the NLE program do the processing, and one has many large images (especially at still camera resolutions), then they WILL need a very powerful computer.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    * PrPro, as of CS5, has improved the quality of Scaling, but the overhead issue still exists.

  • Still Photo's and High Definition Video.

Would there be any advantage to scanning photo's for High Definition and then converting them to Standard Definition? Or would you just scan them at a higher resolution.?
I'm looking for a way to have clearer photo's and at the same time use them in a standard DVD player.
I'm in the need of a video monitor and trying to decide if there would be any advantage to moving to high definition to be ready for the future when I do not have a need for it right now. I use mostly still photo's in my videos.

As for the phpotos I would always scan or produce them at least 2x the target resolution in each direction - especdially if you're doing moves. If you know you won't be doing moves, then you can prepare them at exactly the target resolution (including the pixel shape if you're using say NTSC standard or anamorphic).
Since you're looking at protecting for an HD future, assume that target resolution is... 1080x to cover your bases.
Don't know what you're scanning, but watch out for moire patterns coming from halftone dots in printed photos. There are ways to deal with them, poke around here or better yet in Photoshop or other graphics forums.
As for an HD monitor, prices will of course plummet just after you buy it. No sense in jumping on a bandwagon you won't even be using yet. If you're serious about quality, get a broadcast SD monitor.

  • Adjusting time of still photos

I have a video that runs almost 45 minutes and is comprised of about 100 still photos. The narration of the video has been changed and I need to adjust the time of each individual photo. I know how to accomplish this by adjusting each photo using the info box.
However, a friend of mine used Studio Plus on the PC. He showed me how they just snap the photo to the point on the audio and it is done for you. Is anything like this available in iMovie?
What would be a quick way to change all these photos - they will all be a different length.
      Mac OS X (10.3.7)

    Thank you Karl,
You put me on the right track to obtain the answer. I'm posting it here so someone else may gain some knowledge.
The most important part of the solution is to de-select show clip volume levels (found under the view menu.
Once you have done this, you can move to the right edge of any photo and adjust the length. It also adjust the photos around it. This will no doubt save me MUCH time.

  • Small still photo on video i pod w/ music but no streaming...

i have a new video ipod and i only get a small still photo w/ music but no streaming video. any ideas on how to get the video working and larger?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
If you are listening to music, then you will only get music and album art, not video. You have to have the videos to watch the videos.
Now, if you have videos on your iPod and when you watch them you only hear the audio and see a small shot of the video, then there are a couple of things to do, which should fix the problem.
First, make sure that you are accessing the video from the Videos menu, and not anywhere else. If you try to play a video, music video, video podcast, etc. from anywhere but the videos menu, you won't get video.
Second, make sure TV Out is set to off or ask (and then select no). Go to Videos-->Video Settings-->TV Out-->Off. Now try playing the video. It should play correctly.
