"Use Adobe Dialog" in open/save screens gone?

Hi,
I just upgraded to photoshop cs4 from cs2, and I noticed that a feature which I really, really loved is now gone, and that is the Use Adobe Dialog option in the open/save/save as file browser.
I don't see any option for this anymore...was it taken out in CS4 or CS3? Or is there an option to enable it that I'm just missing?
This let me access my favorite folders on the right side of the file browser to easily navigate there, which It's very much missed :(

To add a location to the left-hand side of the Open and Save dialog boxes in
Vista it's same as XP, use the group policy editor:
Go to
Start > Run > gpedit.msc > User Configuration > Adminstrative Templates >
Windows Components > Windows Explorer > Common Open File Dialog
Enable "Items displayed inPlaces Bar"
type the path to the desired location

ML: No longer one can enlarge icon size in file dialog window (open, save)

There is this useful document preview used for displaying the file icons. This is important when I open PDF and image files. But in the file dialog window (open, save) the is no more the option to enlarge the size of the icons in icon view. Large icons are most import even on opening files, so I get a nice and detailled preview to choose the right file. But especially in the file dialog window the option has gone to set the icon size! What a mess! This makes no sense. Cannot use large icons (previews) where I need them most.

Open a new finder window. Click "View" menu select "Show Status Bar".
Voila!

Use Adobe Dialog has disappeared

Hey Gang!
In one of my classrooms, iMacs bootcamping Windows XP, most of the machines running Creative Suite 3 used to have the Open and Place and browse dialog box windows showing the button in the lower left that is labeled "Use Adobe Dialog".
This week, although to my knowledge nothing has been altered, the button is gone and the open/place/browse dialog is gone back to its original Windows-flavored condition.
Anyone else ever seen this (oh I love it) feature just up and vanish?

Mac HD/Applications
Double click the Adobe Reader app and accept the agreement.

When I download a PDF file using Adobe I get a black screen when attempting to print and if I save the file I get a corrupted response when opening it.

This does not always happen, for example if I get a PDF file by email, it appears to be primarilly when I download from the internet.
I use Adobe Reader X1. Can you assist please. Thanks

Adobe CS5 Applications open/save dialog boxes size always resets

So, since the Mountain Lion update, all of my Adobe CS5 save/open window dialog boxes reset their size each time. In my case they are too small, causing me to have to enlarge the window out every time, to be able to see file names/locations etc.
Not a massive issue, but rather annoying when I think of the time I'm wasting resizing windows hundreds of times a day, especially as this never used to happen.
Is this an Adobe issue?
Can anyone using Adobe CS6 on Mountain Lion tell me if they experience this too?
Anyone on using Adobe CS5 on OSX-10.8.2 experienced this too, any suggestions?

I came here looking for this very same help. It is driving me crazy. It happened when I recently updated to Mountain Lion. It has to be a Mountain Lion problem, as I'm using the very same Adobe products that I've used for years and it never occurred before.
I'm also having the problem with Mountain Lion resizing my coverflow finder windows every time I open them. Also completely annoying.
How do I get the windows (saving and coverflow) to stay in the same position as I last had them versus resetting to some default position every time I open them or click on a new file? Very annoying.

Firefox repeatedly asks me what to do with PDF files, even after I tell it to use Adobe Reader to open them.

For some reason, Firefox repeatedly asks me what to do with certain PDF files (but not all) even after I have indicated that I want it to use Adobe Reader X to open them and checked the "always use this application" box. I have gone through all of the troubleshooting steps on the Firefox support website to no avail. However, unlike what is shown in the troubleshooting section, when I go into Tools/Applications/Preferences, I do not see a listing for "Adobe Acrobat Document." Instead, there is a listing for "pdf file," which opens with "Adobe Reader"--no "(default)" or "(in Firefox)" appended.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Error message: Your trial has expired. Unable to use adobe reader to open PDF's.

I have reinstalled the reader several times and keep getting the same error message. My CS6 is working fine.

Does the error actually say "Unable to use Adobe Reader..."?
If not, it could be that you have the trial version of Acrobat installed and were using it to open PDF's instead of Reader (Reader doesn't have a trial)?
If so, you can change your file associations to open PDF's with Reader (how to do this varies by your OS) or install Reader.

Using adobe reader to open PDF files.

I downloaded, and had to delete and try again, adobe reader. I couldn't open the PDF files I wanted to. What did I do wrong? I tried this 3 times. One sight I needed to download and print allowed me to go to my applications open Adobe Reader and download it then to my computer. However, then I had to securely trash it as it wasn't something I wanted to keep on my computer being a finance page. Another company I tried to do it that way after it said it coudn't read it, and it didn't work. I never had this trouble before until I downloaded this new adobe reader. What did I do wrong?

I did download and install Adobe Reader XI 11.0.0
This is a different version that I first had, and I don't know where the first version went.
This all started when our internet provider had problems that went to all areas. I might have been working on something when I lost my original...now sure.
When I tried to download a bank statement (and I tried to different banks using Firefox and Safari) I get the message:
"Adobe Reader Cannot Show Documents in this browser.
We are sorry, but Adobe Reader is unable to show documents in this browser configuration. Please use your browser to download this file and open it in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat. To avoid this message in the future, many browsers provide a way to turn off add-ons, and some are able to show this document, natively. Please contact your browser vender for more details."
I don't know what they mean by "natively."
Then I get a gray screen that said adobe plug-inn had crashed so I could report it so I did. Nothing happened with that.
Next, I checked to see that my add-ons were turned off and they were, but then I saw the plug-in section and ran it to see if my plug-in's were up-to-date. All were except when I came to Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Pug-in, Version 11.0.11. Under it was a notice: Notice Adobe recommend Acrobat Reader 9.3. So I clicked on that and it brought me back to the screen to download Adobe Reader XI 11.0.0. This seems to have brought me back to the beginning of the circle.
? I definitely am stumped. I guess I'm going to try to internet to see if I can get to Acrobat Reader 9.3.

IMovie Save open Save crash gone

I've had a problem with iMovie crashing and losing my work in a file. I will create a project and import my video from my camera. I will save the file. After I've saved the file I will begin editing and I will save my work, close iMovie and turn off my macbook. I will come back to it and I will open iMovie and work with it like normal, all my edits and changes that i've made previously are there. After working for awhile iMovie will save my project and continue working. After working for awhile it seems like iMovieHD quits randomly. No error message or anything, just poof gone. I will go back and try to open the file and all my edits and everything will be in the trash. My imported video will be in the clips section. Ive restarted the machine, closed the program and come back to the same file and it will continue to be in this broken state. Well one of the videos i was having problems with I accidently opened it a few weeks later, after cursing swearing, and everything was there. I know I'm opening the correct files because my imported video is there.
Is anyone else having this problem? Any fixes? Any Ideas why it randomly corrects itself after weeks of not working?

I'm not using a external drive. Just the internal.
The drive has 17.54GB left on it.
17.54 GB may not be enough depending on your project. And it sounds as if you have quite a project.
Is it possible to free up a bit more space on the mac?
Just one more thing...after I had a few crashes, I began to recognize when it was about to happen. Believe it or not, when I saw that it was about to crash (usually obvious because it freezes) I simply tapped on the iMovie Icon in the Dock. Keep clicking on it and sometimes imovie "wakes" back up.
Worth a shot, anyway.

My lock screen just shows a black background and a User Name/Password dialog after opening the screen from sleep. How do I get it back to where it blurs my desktop image with the dialog and my account image displayed?

I'm not sure when it began, but now my Macbook Air only shows a black background and a User Name and Password dialog box when I wake it from sleep. It used to show my desktop background blurred with my user name and icon displayed with only a text field for entering my password. I'm currently using Yosemite (OS X 10.10.1) and all updates have been done. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I know this isn't a real problem, just an annoyance since I couldn't find how to change it back in the System Preferences.

I just have to point out that after looking at a related post (https://discussions.apple.com/message/22661092#22661092), it brought to memory that my issue most certainly began happening after I added some DoD certificates to the keychain. This obviously has something to do with it, but it still leaves me wondering what actually causes this to happen. :/

What it sounds like is that one of the helper programs that reader uses, called plug-ins, isn't working. If you've recently added a plug-in, you might try removing it. Otherwise, I would be inclined to uninstall reader and reinstall the latest version.

I cannot use Adobe Reader to open PDFs in protected webpages

I just downloaded the application Adobe Reader in my iPhone 5 (iOS 6.0.2). My problem started when I tried to open my school BlackBoard Learning system (Safari showes a thumbnail of a lock in the top bar meaning page has some security constrains) and then I wanted to access some PDF material. Unfortunately, I couldn't open it through the application. The bar that should appear once a page with PDF is opened did not appear!(The one that says 'Open in ') I really need a solution for this since most of the content there is in the form of PDF file.

You could try going to an Apple store to ask them about this.
It's important to note that there are no browser plugins in Safari, so until the "open in" button is touched, only Safari is involved and the opening App does not have a chance to see the file until after the file is downloaded and handed off. If the bar isn't showing up in Safari, it could be one of two things:
1) A bug in Safari
2) The website may not be returning pdf content correctly (or at all). Some websites try to detect the presence of a browser plugin before sending a PDF. Since there are no plugins to Safari, this detection would fail on mobile browsers. In this case, the website owner should update the service to serve PDF's to mobile browsers.

Error while Open and save pdf using Adobe library

I m using adobe library to open and save PDF using VC++ MFC .
as given samples are working for me all are using console application to accomplish this task.
But when i tried to use same functions to open and save PDF from DOC/VIEW application it gives me an error.
it is a strange problem that I don't understand. If I compile the following code (Visual C++ 2000 Express Edition) I get an error message: "Unhandled exception at 0x0041183f in test.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000004."
