Use all 6 SATA connections in bootcamp windows XP

hello,
i cant seem to use the 2 non bay sata ports on my mac pro under windows XP, they seem to belong to the same intel chipset, so i doubt its a driver issue
they work fine under os x
anyone know a solution? or a future fix that is on the way?

i added optical drives:
the problem is i added two dvd drives i needed in Windows XP (pioneer dvr-212 and samsung sh-d163a) i could have gotten the ATA versions just as well but i thought why not go for sata the price was almost the same, under os x they work great, but i can use any drive in os x i need those specific drives under XP for some specific dvd mastering needs
so i am kind of hoping i wont have to re-buy the ATA versions to get this working again

  • How to use all the functions on my Bootcamp/windows 7 side?

    Hello,
Soooo I have an apple desktop running osx 10.4.8 i think, and recently my keyboard got coffee spilt all over it. 3 months later I have brought a new one, but what I didnt realise that its a completely new updated one.... so when I connected it to my windows 7 it works fine, but when I go to use the volume buttons and the brightness controls... they dont work.. when they use to work on my old keyboard. I read somewhere that I might need O Sx 10.6.8. so I went into the mac side of the computer and downloaded it. but nothing changed.
how can I get these functions to work on the windows side of the computer?

  • Can my Macbook use an all-in-one connected to a Windows Home Server

Hey All, How do I connect my Canon Pixma MX700 to the Windows Home Server and be able to both Print and Scan from my Macbook over the network.

I just saw this post--it's for a different Canon than yours but it might point you in the right direction:
"The Canon MF6500 series uses the Canon UFR2 printer driver, which also supports the larger Canon multifunction copiers. If the printer is connected directly to the network via Ethernet, you use the More Printers > Canon IP (UFR2) option to enter the ip address of the printer. If the device is connected via USB, the Default browser view is used. In both cases, the user has no option to manually select the model in the print using menu. The driver communicates with the printer to determine which model it is.
If you have the printer connected via a Windows share, or to the USB port of a wireless router, the driver cannot 'see' the printer and will not complete the creation of the printer queue.
For a wireless router with Ethernet ports, you can connect the printer via Ethernet and then use the More Printers function. Of course the printer would require an Ethernet port for this to be possible, and I am not sure if you have such an option on the MF6500. If not, then you won't be able to use the printer the way you want.
FYI - the Apple Canon driver package is for the inkjet printers only.

  • WRE54G version 3 uses all available DHCP connections causing all wireless connectivity to fail

I couldn't find this problem via search so i've started a new thread.  Here is my problem.
I have configured my WRE54G and everything seems to be working great, a Wireless connection that was LOW is not Excellent.
    a. I can connect to my router: 192.168.0.1 (WRT54GC firmware 1.05.7)
    b. I can connect to my range expander: 192.168.0.11 (I changed the IP, firmware 3.01.01)
    c. The Range Expander has the same SSID as my router and has the same WEP key too.
It seems that the range expander will eventually use all of the DHCP connections that I have configured for my router to allow.
I have the DHCP lease set to 30 minutes but when i look in the DHCP client list I see clients with 2 day leases, these are all the MAC Address of the Range Expander. Currently 5 of 7 connections are the Range Expander.  Eventually it will consume all connection and I won't be able to connect.
On my wireless router I have MAC address filtering set up and only 4 MAC addresses are added to the "allow" list.
Message Edited by 221385 on 12-21-2009 07:44 PM

DHCP lease time on the router is 30 minutes.
It appears that the clients, specifically the only wireless laptop on the network, drops the connection and when it reconnects it gets a new lease and IP address.  This happens many times until all IPs are in use.  I don't know why the lap top drops the connection when the signal strength is excellent.
I have seen the MAC address of the Client in some cases but the majority are the WRE.
I've linked to some pictures of the router set up, the DHCP client list, and the basic WRE setup.  There are only 3 wireless devices in my home, 1 laptop, 2 iPhones.  I guess a neighbour could be trying to connect but I do have MAC address filtering turned on so only included MAC Addresses can connect.
I guess I could always update the firmware but I only want to do that if it will fix this issue.  I tried the live chat today but I didn't have access to my home network so there wasn't much that we could do.

  • RDE client crashes on connect under bootcamp Windows 7

Remote Desktop (RDE) clint crashes soon after connection from Windows 7 running on bootcamp partition. I am able to connect to the remote computer from other machines. I am even able to connect to the remote computer with Mac OS on the computer. Just fails when I boot using Windows 7.
It appears that the problem has to do with the Video card driver on the 27" iMac under bootcamp. At least that is the Error logged on the remote computer after crash.
Are there better video drivers for bootcamp that what comes from Apple? Appreciate any help!

    Hi probe_driod.
Thanks for your help. I ran software update this morning and the only thing that appeared was an updated version of iTunes. I manually downloaded the Graphics Firmware update but it said it did not apply to my system.
It is to my understanding that i cannot install Bootcamp 4 over the top of my Bootcamp 3.3 installation without first removing my bootcamp partition (therefore destroying all of my data) and then installing bootcamp again from scratch. Is this correct?

  • K9N2 Diamond SATA Connections

I have a total of 6 SATA connections on this mobo. The two facing and the four to the right. My case is the CM Comos S. One SATA slot is used up by the front panel. I have 2 DVD drives and 2 HDD's. I have the front panel, both dvd's and my main HDD plugged into the four slot area. Looking at the front of the board, SATA6, is the only remaining open slot. SATA5 is blocked by the vid card. I connected cables, but the new drive is not detected. Why? also in BIOS it only mentions SATA's 1,2,3 and 4. Can someone please help?

Ok.  Google the raid questions.  There are several different types each has it's specific characteristics from raid 0 to jbod.  It is way to much information to give via a forum chat.  Benefits are data redundancy for some, data access times for others, combinations of those two characteristics with others.  Do some research.  Your manual will also give you some instruction.   If it's a new install take your time, do your research on raid and make the decision for yourself.  Further, with the new install you won't have to retro the AHCI to enable the 5 and 6 sata ports.

aren't SATA 5 & 6 specifically for a raid set up?I presume then, that all 6 SATA connections are not the same.
Sorry I missed these questions.  No 5 and 6 aren't specifically for a raid setup...I believe sata 1-4 use the nvidia raid controller and support up to 4 devices and the 5 and 6 ports are for silicon image controller and support only 2 devices.  Anyway, check your manual or download one.  It will tell you.

  • Can i install windows 7 via bootcamp (MB Air) while using remote disc? I put the windows 7 disk in my macbook pro drive, and connect to my brand new macbook air. In bootcamp i allocate the partition then i click install and bootcamp will not see the disk.

Can i install windows 7 via bootcamp (on my MB Air) while using remote disc? I put the windows 7 disk in my macbook pro drive, and connect to my brand new macbook air via remote disk. In bootcamp (on my air) i allocate the partition, then i click install, and bootcamp will not see the disk from my macbook pro's drive. How do i get the bootcamp assistant running on my MB air to automatically find the disk in my macbook pro with the ISO image of windows 7? The remote disk on my air can find the cd but bootcamp will not begin installing it. Anyway to do this without buying the damned usb drive?

I don't know first hand if you can use the Remote Disk option with Windows but as of 10.7.2 you can now use BCAssistant to make a bootable USB (thumb drive or external disk) W7 installer with the Boot Camp drivers installed also. Have you tried that yet?

you'd have to point +iTunes media folder location+ back to the external via preferences > advanced > iTunes media folder location, then file > library, organize library > consolidate files
and essentially, to have it easily readable on both machines?
in that case it might be best to copy the entire iTunes folder to the external. then, on each machine, launch iTunes while pressing option on your keyboard. when prompted, click on +choose library+ and navigate to the iTunes folder on the external.
note only one iTunes can access the iTunes library @ a time !
also, make sure the external is mounted on either machine before launching iTunes.

  • Remote Desktop Connection from a Windows 8.1 laptop to a work PC using Windows 7

    Hi!
I posted this question in the MS Community forums and they redirected me here... I searched the forums here but didn't find anything that helped with my problem. So here is my original question (posted originally here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-networking/remote-desktop-connection-to-a-work-pc/5fa25045-de24-4a7c-9c8e-caf9ce17e444):
For the past few weeks, I've been trying to set up a VPN connection to my work PC so I can work from home.
Work PC runs on Windows 7 (I assume Pro, but I can't confirm at the moment).
Home laptop runs on Windows 8.1 (the laptop came with Windows 8 already installed, so I assume it's the standard, or Home, edition. I manually upgraded to 8.1).
Now, after many migraines and sleepless nights fiddling with settings, the VPN connection works. However, what prevents me from completing the connection is Remote Desktop Connection.
    Here's the error I get:
"Remote Desktop can't find the computer "<computer name>". This might mean that "<computer name>" does not belong to the specified network. Verify the computer name and domain that you are trying to connect to."
    Note:
    - I DO have the correct computer name. I have a working connection to my work PC from my personal desktop PC (running XP), though I sometimes need to travel and a laptop is much more practical to carry around than a PC... ;)
The VPN Connection Wizard never asked me to enter my destination PC username and password (so my work Windows credentials). Why?
Any ideas as to why Remote Desktop doesn't want to connect?
Any suggestions as to what I can try to fix the problem?
Thank you for all the help!
    Julie

Are you able to ping the remote system by name? It sounds as though you are connecting to VPN but are unable to resolve the names of the host network. A few things that I would think of:
If the home system is not on a domain and the work system is, you may need to use the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN). For example, instead of
    computer you would enter computer.domain.com.
You may want to check if your VPN connection is configured as a default gateway, otherwise if your home and VPN network have the same IP address range you may be experiencing a conflict.
    See the instructions provided here.
You also may want to check the DNS settings for the VPN connection to ensure that it is finding the DNS server for the remote network and thus is able to resolve the hostname.
You may want to try connecting Remote Desktop via IP address to determine if the issue is with name resolution (DNS) or connectivity.

  • Can I use my Apple Keyboard in a non-bootcamp Windows 7 OS?

    Hello,
I am building myself a secondary gaming PC to complement my Mac Pro (which I will continue to work on) but would like to 'reuse' my Apple Keyboard that I like so much.
From running Windows 7 in bootcamp on my current Mac Pro I know that the keyboard works really well in Windows 7 but since this new PC is a 'genuine' windows pc without any of Apples hardware or bootcamp software I was wondering if I could still somehow use it?
Also in case you can use it, is it possible to get the keyboard drivers perhaps without all the other stuff the bootcamp installer brings with it?
    Thanks,
    Jannis

  • Unable to Connect to my organization's EAS using MS Mail app since upgrade to Windows 8.1 -- certificate error

Last November, my ASUS laptop forced me to update to Windows 8.1.  Since then, I cannot connect to my organization's mobile EAS using the Mail/Calendar/People app.  The Mail app says "We could not connect to .... because of problems with its
digital certificates.  Contact your system administrator for info."  I also tried to delete the account and recreate it.  At the account info screen, it gave a related error message, stating "To connect to this account, you need a
valid certificate on the PC. Contact your system administrator for more info."
In trying to recreate the account, I note that the 8.1 Mail app appears to have combined all EAS connections -- I seem to recall different options for connecting previously, including one that was more specific to mobile EAS connections.  My organization
only supports connection to mobile devices, and I continue to be able to connect via Windows phone, Android (iOS devices also supported).
I have done some digging and see that in my Windows Certificate Manager, there is a Personal Certificate with an error message. It's a "Token Signing Public Key" for "Client Authentication" using an RSA Public Key, but under the Certification
Path tab, the status states "The issuer of the certificate could not be found."  I suspect this is the certificate that my organization's server is sending but is no longer being recognized by Windows 8.1.
My organization has been unwilling to support me on this.  They point to the fact that all other devices work, my connection worked with Windows 8.0, and they don't have enough users that connect via Windows 8.1 laptops/tablets to troubleshoot on their
end.  They also don't want to change setting that then cause other users to lose connectivity on the more commonly used mobile devices.
So, to trouble shoot myself, I have looked up posts on related issues and I have done all of the following to no avail:
    - Make sure my Windows is up to date, including that latest Certificate/Credential update;
    - Uninstalled the Mail/Calender/People App, restarted, and reinstalled it;
    - Had MS Online support try to trouble shoot.  They created a test account and tried to connect using that to no avail.
Notably, I have two Windows 8.1 machines -- my wife and I got matching ASUS laptops that both upgraded to 8.1 from 8.0  -- and I am unable to connect to my organization's mobile EAS using either machine.
To me, this is clearly a Windows 8.1 issue.  The Mail/Calendar/People app should interface with mobile EAS exactly the same way that other mobile OSes do.  Apparently this was the case with Windows 8.0, but no longer.
The last thing I'll add is that my organization requires password and remote wiping when connecting to the mobile EAS.  But, this wasn't an issue when I had Windows 8.0 -- it connected fine and mandated password and remote wipe features.
NOTE: I originally posted this question on the Windows 8.1 Tehchnet forum and was told by an MS Engineer Soumya Sunda Debroy to repost in this forum.
PLEASE ADVISE.  YOUR HELP IS APPRECIATED.
    - Dan
