Use an application in another language than your system language

This topic is already spoken about some times here in the forum.
Since SL the language triangle is missing when you CMD+I on a application.
I am using the system in German, but I love to use FCP for example in English.
I really wonder why Apple got rid of that cool feature?!?!?
I found this:

"defaults write com.apple.iChat AppleLanguages "(German)"
and you can reset it by
defaults delete com.apple.iChat AppleLanguages"
but its not working always...
Looking into the package of FCP and
swap the folder names under RESOURCES of the English.lproj and the German.lproj is resulting also in some strange mixtures English and German language messages.
I guess in Leopard the language selection in the information CMD+I dialog was only creating a pointer and tell the system to use the right folder in the package.
There should be a failsave and easy way to set the language for an application.
Funny, there is also a "Resources Disabled" folder which has the old language files that were used by Leopard. I am afraid I can only get rid of all that extra files if I install SL fresh again...
I hope someone...means Apple sends out a fix for that problem...for me they can even advertise it as a new feature

yes, I know!
But this is not permanent and a very bulky way to use differnt apps.
In a daily workflow I can't start a software that let's me choose a language I want to run a software....no...takes too long! And I have to think...too much work

Default keyboard language and MacOS system language

After I set default keyboard language to English it is automatically applied by macOS as a default language for the whole system. Is there a way to set English as a default language only for the keyboard, but at the same time set Ukrainian to be a default system language?

Try removing Ukrainian from this list, restarting (which should give you US as default), and then adding Ukrainian again.
If that doesn't work, try going to system preferences/language & region and using the plus button to make some language below the line (for which nothing is localized) like Afrikaans the preferred language, with Ukrainian second. This should keep US as the default keyboard and Ukrainian as the OS language.

Iphone 4 facetime using wireless wifi (email verification) rather than your phone number

AS it says, though this topic has been quite a thing with the iphone 4 unlike the ipod with facetime apps preinstalled. Anyone know, if we can use the wifi to access facetime on the iphone? without using our calling credits of course. Seems like it would be impossible huh.

Is there a way to buy a album, from another country than yours?

I was trying to buy the new Rammstein album Rosenrot from the Germany music store. It says I need a country recognized credit card to purchase music from a foreign store. Is there a way to get past this? Like, do you think a Paypal account would work? This album isn't available yet in the American store.

How to place User folders on another HD than the system?

Sorry for this perhaps ignorant question: I am contemplating to get a Mac Pro with two disks. Having heard about speed gains, I am thinking of having the system and applications on one HD and all the users' stuff (folders) on the second. In this respect I have two questions:
1) do you think this might really help with access speed?
2) how would I make the system to place the users' folders on the second disk?

Leave a "/Users" on the boot drive. Some applications don't like there not being one, even though technically having a symbolic link pointing to another drive should work.
having your home directory on another drive is easy to accomplish by changing one entry in NetInfo Manager (in /Utilities).
Find "Users" and click on there and then your own 'short name.' Down below will be "Path" entry as /Users/short-name
Change that to be /Volumes/vol-name-2/Users/short-name
where "vol-name-2" is actual name of the other drive or volume.
I would use some software to copy /Users to the 2nd drive, or create a folder there and copy. And copy your media and data files.
Might want to leave a small basic home folder /Library just to have one with prefs and such if needed. And always have backups.
There are a number of sites and books (David Pogue's Missing Manual covers it in less than two pages).
Gains are two forms. Free up space on boot drive. the system can access two or more drives concurrently without any contention over access or seeks.
I've always had my home directory on a RAID in this manner (since 5 yrs ago or more when Mike Bombich first mentioned and showed how to do so form the command line).

Where do i get quicktime in other languages than my OS language? pls help!!

hi there!
i work in germany but have a client in spain. i need to create installation constructions for quicktime (windows) in spanish and have to include quicktime on CD-ROM i have to hand him out (i have the licensee stuff right next to me! so don´t worry!!) ... so, i need a spanish version of quicktime to include it on the CD. but every time i download quicktime it is automatically a german version or an english one (seems to depend on the language of windows) ... tho i´m not sure, if when i download the regular english version will it REALLY and DEFINATELY be spanish, when the install it in spain??? or does the download read my OS and then decide which version i need?
so:
- is there a multi-language version?
- or are there different single versions (which i would prefer), for each language one??

It's acting as if the temp sensor is not connected. I have it bookmarked amidst thousands of bookmarks but can't remember the name right now. There is some program out there that, in the absence of getting data from the internal sensor, will regulate the fan speed based on the SMART temp. If I think of it, I'll post back.

and
my home/Library/App Support/iDVD/Installed favorites/

I've got exactly the same problem. The behavior is this: if I save the project and then reopen it in iDVD6, then I don't get the error message. If I save he project, quit iDVD6 and then click on the project to open it from Finder, I get the error message.
Is this the way yours behaves, too? Did you ever get a satisfactory answer or solution?
I've also got the buttons set to NOT to snap to the grid, and although it lets me position them freely, when I reopen after I've closed the file they're back where they were before.

Using XP Pro's Remote Desktop for multiple systems behind my Linksys WRT54G

I would like to be able to use Windows XP Pro's "Remote Desktop" application to access more than one system behind my WRT54G router.
I understand that I need to use Port Forwarding on the router to do this, but how can I set it up to enable access to any of the 4 systems that are behind it?

look for the entry "PortNumber", this will be a hexidecimal entry, so you will have to click decimal when you edit it, save to the new RDP connection port you want, say 3390 for machine 2, 3391 for machine 3, and so on, and reboot for it to take effect.

You have to use transaction SLDAPICUST in the business system to define the SLD access data. This data consists of the host and port of the SLD as well as a user and password (PIAPPLUSER, for example). You can use the entries that you maintained on your Integration Server.
The RFC destinations LCRSAPRFC and SAPSLDAPI are used for the SLD connection. They use the SLD access data maintained with transaction SLDAPICUST. The RFC destination LCRSAPRFC is used to read the exchange profile; SAPSLDAPI is used by the ABAP API.
The RFC destinations are also used to retrieve the information about where to retrieve the information about where to find the Integration Builder required for the proxy generation. This information is located in the exchange profile.
You have to create both RFC destinations in your business system. They use the same registered server program, which is defined as part of the RFC engine settings of the J2EE Engine on the Integration Server host. This means that all business systems can use the same server program for their RFC destinations LCRSAPRFC and SAPSLDAPI. This program ID is:
● SAPSLDAPI_UNICODE for Unicode business systems
● SAPSLDAPI_NONUNICODE

Cannot sync apps / app icons distorted - if system language is non-English

1. If I select Russian(my native language) as the system language, the Apps section/tab does not appear fully when I click on it. The Apps tab is selected, but it shows the contents of the Summary tab. I cannot sync apps with my iPhone.
2. The icons of the apps appear black and distorted.

If I select English in the System Settings, the Apps tab appears fully and the apps icons are displayed properly, so I can sync apps.
I reinstalled iTunes exactly as described at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224 but this does not help.

I don't know if this helps, but I experienced a similar issue with my iPad 2 after updating to iOS 7.
My "solution" to the problem, after pulling out my hair for hours, is to plug it in the wall charger, and then shut the iPad down completely. It does charge when turned off, although a bit slower than usual, or so it seems. Pheeew...:-) I realize that this is a pain if you have a problem with an iPhone, because you have to turn it off to charge it. Presuming that this works, of course. Otherwise, I don't know..
After the update, the iPad simply does not respond when i plug in the charger, nor does it connect to the USB port. The battery just keeps wearing down. I think it could be connected to the firmware change that iOS 7 brings, which I guess in itself has to do with Apple wanting to block out 3rd party manufacturers of power adapters of the new "lightning" type.
The only thing I can think of that might have gone wrong on my part concerning the update is that I didn't have it plugged in while installing the update - although I believe this is recommended from Apple. I'm thinking that in my case the new firmware update simply hasn't registered any adapter present upon installation, and that might have caused the iPad to not recognize an adapter at all, regardless of type. I have always used original Apple adapters, btw, so I'm not really guilty of anything other than not plugging it in while updating - or, at least that's my own theory. Which is better than no theory at all.. ;-)
Obviously, I'm waiting eagerly for Apple to solve this issue. Not really happy at all with this..

Partner Application written in other language than PL/SQL and Java

I have an application written in another language than PL/SQL or Java. I want to integrate this application as an Partner apps where I use the same user repository as Portal.
Can I integrate the application by calling a stored PL/SQL-procedure based on the PLSQL SSO APIs examples that authenticates the user based on the username/password in portal and redirects the user to the application ?
Are there any examples / references where this has been done ?

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Let us know how far you get, or results.

I attempted to open Final Cut Express this morning and got the message, "Protection Error - This application cannot continue because another application with an identical serial number is already running on another computer on your network".
I have no other FCE on any computers...this is the only mac running (iMac 2008 model). I used a preference manager app and deleted preferences...didn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled FCE...didn't work.
This is the first time I have used FCE since installing the Yosemite OS, so I'm thinking perhaps that has something to do with it.
Any ideas?

There have been recent posts appearing about your problem. I'm not sure if anyone has found a solution.
FCE was abandoned by Apple years ago, and they are currently making Operating Systems without regard to how it impacts FCE.

That is what I would try - a fresh install - but your need to use FCS remover (from the same software source as Preference Manager) to make sure you get all traces of your existing installation off the drive prior to doing the installation:

If you use FCS Remover, and reinstall the other problem may be that Apple has apparently removed the Software Upgrade to FCE 4.0.3.
So unless you have a 4.0.3 install disk, or you hadn't upgraded past the version number of the install disk you do have, you legacy projects may be tagged as being created with a later version than you have and not open.
