Use and purpose of the 'noalign' kernel parameter

Does anyone know what this does? It apparently exists, but as far as I can tell from Googling, its function is not documented.

It seems to be something ARM-specific, to avoid alignment faults.

How to get value and name of the n'th parameter in a pl/sql funct./proced.

procedure test(name varchar2, birthdate date, zip number, country varchar2);
in procedure x I do

And this should htp.print the following:

In procedure test I want to know:
*) What is the name of myself (the procedure)
*) Optionally: Am I a procedure or a function?
*) How many Parameters do I have?
*) What are the values of them?
*) What are the names of them?
*) Optionally: What are the types of them?
What I actually want to do is:
I have a procedure for logging errors. So in my program I call this function frequently and I want it to log the current time, a string passed to the logging function, the client's ip, etc.... but it should also log a list of the parametrs and values of the procedure/function where the error occoured.
Is there any way to do this (I think in C this is done by argc and argv, but a string containing all the information (as you get it from the WebDb when something goes wrong) would be enough)?

Using "and","or"(eg Anand Y) as parameter values to BI Publisher reports

I'm trying to pass a name parameter containing "and" for eg Anand Y, This value does not get passed to the report.Log reports invalid parameter value.
Has any one faced this issue before?

Thanks for your reply. It helped me work around seeing the Adobe error message.
Like you suggested I changed the report query attributes to use the ADVANCED xml-structure property (so my xml file would not be empty).

In the rtf template like you suggested I added conditional logic to show a no-data-found message else show the contents of my report. The key idea here is that if ROW (holds the data) is defined in the xml structure then there is data returned from the query else I show the no data message.

Thanks for your help in resolving the issue. I do prefer to have Oracle fix the issue of showing the Adobe error when report queries don't find data, but this is a good work around until something better comes along.

Systemd boot is extremely "loud" with the quiet kernel parameter

Systemd boot got really slow at some point.
It prints all the messages with all the green OK status. It is extremely slow, in fact, slower that any sequential boot 20 years ago. No errors though.
Kernel parameters are as per silent boot article with quiet and log level set appropriately.
Any help is appreciated. Maybe I can fiddle with some other systemd parameters? It does not look it parallelised at all.

Use and impact of the logical system (SCC4)

An error has been made in our SAP system (production environment), transaction SCC4. The field «Logicial system» has been changed from «PRD460» to «QAS460». It has been left this way for few weeks and when we realized the mistake, we changed it back from «QAS460» to «PRD460».
For few hours, the document numbers in MM (t-code MIGO) were generated, but were not found in t-code MB03. We were able to generate them manually in t-code SM13 and the problem was solved.
What is the use of the «Logicial system» ? What could have been the impact on our database and on the integrity of our system of having the wrong logical system set to our production environment for few weeks ?

Logical System Names
When data is distributed between different systems, each system within a network has to be clearly identifiable. The u201Clogical systemu201D deals with this issue.
A logical system is an application system in which the applications work together on a common data basis. In SAP terms, the logical system is a client.
Since the logical system name is used to identify a system uniquely within the network, two systems cannot have the same name if they are connected to each other as BW systems or as source systems, or if there are plans to connect them in any way.
Although SAP does not recommend that you connect test systems to production systems, a test system can have the same name as a production system. This makes copying production systems to test systems a lot simpler.
You are only allowed to change the logical system name of a system if the system is not connected to any other systems, because changing the logical system name would render all the connections to other systems useless.

I have a MBP 5.1 and I get the following kernel panics:

MBP 2,4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ram and I am running Maveriks and eversince I have upgraded to Maveriks I have kernel panics. Using and configuring the BNC 2121

We have recently bought a BNC 2121 from National Instruments. We would like to set-up and use the eight plugs on the board as counters and in order to do measures in a test. We have tried to use the example code included in the NI-DAQ directory, the file "TIOEventCountwithPrescaling.C", but when we run this program it only enables the counting if the port corresponds to a source (in other words, it only works for the PIF 39 or 35, which are both of type SRC). On the other hand, we know that we should be able to do what we pretend because we have done the test with the Measurement & Automation software. It's only that we need to do the same with a C code on Lab/Windows CVI. We have checked the help files and the rest of the examples, but we
simply can't make the functions to change the behaviour of the board's plugs (apparently it is all set by default).

First of all the BNC-2121 is a terminal bloc that works with E,M,S series DataAcquisition boards. The number of counter Task that you can implement depends on the type of board you are using. Know that you can find examples in direct relationship with your hardware. Since the search for examples in the hardware section, select your hardware and after this select an example in "Hardware input and output - DAQmx - Counter Measurements"; these examples are very helpfull to understand counters measurement.
What kind of DAQ boards do you use, M, E, S series, which reference?

I want to up load my website but I do not know what FTP server to use. I find a FTP server but not know what's the URL.

You need a webhosting package. With or without a domainname.
So you have to find one first.
To find webhosting type the word in the search field of your browser.
If you have internet access you can check with your ISP too.
And with a domainname it's very easy to determine the URL : http://www.yourdomainname.com

Apps wanting to access my location when not in use (and not giving the option to turn it off)

For most apps, I can choose to share my location 1) not at all; 2) when the app is in use (my favourite); 3) always (even when not in use).
Why do some apps not offer the second option?
For instance, I want to use an app that locates the nearest automatic external defibrillator (if someone has a cardiac arrest) but I can only use the app when I allow the app to access my location all the time. Given the fact that I will use this app perhaps only once every 15 years, I see no point in giving them my location for the next 15 years! That's just a waste of battery power and also a breach of my privacy.
Second example: Apple's own weather app. I check the weather maybe once every month. I do not want the app to locate me all the time. But I can only choose between option 1) and 3) above.
Is there a technical reason apps work like this? Or are they just sneakily trying to get as much information about me as possible?

everything rudegar said is right on. Still, 10% overnight is more than you would expect - so something is still running. try-
double click the home button, and see what apps are listed as recent. one or more of them might be still churning away. it is a good idea to close those out fully every night. Any of those apps with notifications or location services may be checking in every now and then and using your power.
you mentioned airplane mode is 'off'. this may be a terminolgy thing - but having airplane mode 'off', means that the radios are on. WiFi, and 3 G if you have it. turning airplane mode "on" turns off the radios.
with everything off on mine - (except I leave the wifi on) - i use 2 or 3% overnight.
But if you really want it off - do what rudegar says.

You don't get it to work. You can not bypass the activation lock. Do you not know who you bought it from? Talk to them. If they can't give you the credentials to unlock it, get your money back. The phone is useless.
